Not worth it. I had a ramen bowl. The noodles were literally spaghetti. I ask the staff about it. They even pretended to be “ramen noodles”. The broth was thin and definitely not properly cooked. Expensive and disappointing to experience. Not recommended!

I went to Samsi with my friend Yvonne. I can't comment on the atmosphere because it was very quiet when we were there. It was about 4.45 on a Thursday. We both had the vegetarian Gyoza to start with and then we had the Salmon with boiled rice and both courses were delicious. The staff were friendly and made us very welcome and the service was excellent. We will definitely go again and would highly recommend Samsi.

It was bad, both quality and quantity. First of all, the tonkotsu ramen was so bad, the soup literally tasted like water, even tap water tastes better and why was there a pak shoi in my tonkotsu ramen! I did not expect to pay £15 for a bowl of water. Second of all, the salmon rolls were small and overpriced, even kokoro has better quality. Last of all, tenpura tasted so mid, the coating was so thick and the sauce wasn't enough at all.

Food was 95% perfect being the seaweed salad having a very peculiar chlorine taste. The atmosphere only held 4 stars as the entire place smelt of bleach. I get it. Its clean throughout but the smell is not pleasant throughout the entire eatery and the entire time. The rest of the food could almost be outweighed and the service impeccable to say the least as the servers were all attentive, quick and meticulous. Would still definitely go again in future.

We dined there for an early dinner on Monday evening. The food was lovely - great sushi and tempura vegetables. Service was ok but our waiter seemed very unsure and nervous. The main let down was the toilets. I can assure you that there was NOTHING Japanese about these. Old, dirty, cubicles with loose catches. Stained floors and doors and the taps all stained and gross. It was a terrible experience. If i had gone to the toilet before ordering I would have left the restaurant. Also, toilets down a steep flight of stairs so poor accessibility. Shame, as the food was nice..

Awful food! Don’t be fooled by reviews. Setting and decorations are not overdone, the atmosphere is quite calm. Although that might be due to the fact that the restaurant was empty. The server did their best but was unable to make up for the terrible food. The sushi was bland and cold, the fish had no flavour, the rice is mushy and stale, we did not even eat half of our “Deluxe” platter which costed £55!! You’d get better sushi from a supermarket. The ramen was expensive and also flavourless, heavily seasoned with sesame oil, which overpowered the tasteless broth. There was no garnishing except for green onions, the pork was overcooked to mush. Overall a complete waste of money and when asked they could not offer any explanation. Please save your money and go anywhere else.

My first review in a while and I am so excited to be writing about my experience at Samsi Manchester. My friend and I came here for our girls weekend brunch and it was better than our expectations too!! Alright so we had one of the 10 piece platters- Sushi, Sashimi, Norimaki 🍣 to start with alongside a warmed bottle of sake 🍶 ☺️to share of course! We could taste the freshness of the sushi and cravings were happily satisfied. From the main menu we decided to go down the path of Donburi! As we had both been craving this particular dish for the longest time. Choosing the Katsudon and Unadon which tasted 10/10… alongside stir fryed udon( s/o to the chef for making this variation for us ❤️) just amazing also came with miso soup which we had after the meal. Of course!!Dessert, cheesecake(New York cheesecake on the menu)at a Japanese restaurant umm? Yes please!!! Also 10/10 Overall, beautiful interior- it really takes you to another world intimately and having the chance to enjoy authentic Japanese in all its entity. One of my best food memories for sure. Be sure to check them out, perfect settings for date nights, weekend brunch! They also offer large bookings for celebrations as well!! I 100% recommend Samsi, and will definitely be back to try the other items on the menu. The customer service was also 10/10 which is really important! Also if you live around the area, you can place an order for your slice of authentic Japanese and have it delivered too!! Convenient, perfect for homeboys and takeaway evenings 💗

We visited here last Tuesday. The worst, totally the worst, Japanese dining experience that we, as regular Japanese diners have ever come across. The bottom line seemed to us, cheap ingrediants. This restaurant loves to profess their ingrediant's provenance. See how often they do so in their marketing and responses to complaints. I suggest this restaurant doth profess too much. Dishes in our experience have a consistent taste and quality experienced over 30years of our love for Japanese food. Suddenly quality and taste took on a very odd flavour and texture at Samsi. On questioning the food we were told 'it's not to everyone's taste', in a manner that seemed to intimate, 'you don't know what you are talking about'. "Even people who have been to Japan have said 'our taste is unique" (there's a question there), and again 'it's not to everyone's taste'. Their food provenence was rolled off the tongue; well practiced. Look through the reviews. You will see it there. Again and again and again. We also heard "we've had to change all our ingrediants to accommodate gluten free" We didn't ask for gluten free so was this a blanket decision? All this told whilst drawing attention to our dissatisfaction and sending an inedible, tasteless, poor quality, overcooked dish back. At least they took that off the final bill. I had to ask twice though. Left hungry. The tables are small, the lighting is dark so hard to see what you might be eating? Probably best. Few people in there despite Manchester busy with The World Games. We ate at Sushi Mami the night before. Busy, buzzing and most telling, full of Japanese. Good quality food as well. Choose wisely! My husband ordered a mixed sashimi, specifically asking if saba was on there, assured it was. It wasn't. I ordered saba and ika sushimi with agadashi tofu. Favourite dishes, my go toos, enjoyed them quite literally hundreds of times in Japanese restaurants across the world but nothing tasted as odd as this. My saba sashimi was so acrid, saturated with vinegar, no sweetness. Cut thickly and not all the way through. Joined up chunks really. My husband felt after tasting my offerings, I couldn't eat much of it, he had dodged a bullet by it not appearing on his mixed sashimi as promised. Agedashi. Where ever you enjoy this, the taste is pretty consistent. Sweet/savoury. The sauce here was just heavy soy, luckily very little of it. No hint of sweetness from mirin nor sugar. If mirin was ever part of the dish? Strangest of all, after ordering, within 20 minutes my Nabe Yaki Udon appeared first of all. A hotpot before any cold dishes. Whilst I get and understand the Japanese way of food coming out of the kitchen as its cooked and all on the table, there has to be some sense of balance here. Such a small table to accomodate several dishes? It was never going to fit alongside all the other dishes. So, with space limitations why would we enjoy a space invading bowl of noodles before lighter dishes and delicate flavours ordered? I had to request for it to go back. The waiter with little English just didn't understand It reappeared later after our sashimi and sushi. All plates cleared we had table room. We decided to share. Tough, gristly meat. Chewy. No flavour. You couldn't swallow it. I just spat the one piece of meat I tried out. Boiled veg redolent of school dinners especially the transparent cabbage. Boiled to oblivian. A sukiyaki style broth as professed on the menu was just a pale, tasteless fluid. Noodles looked like they were from boil a bag you can get at Sainsbury's including that strange metallic smell. We were assured they came from Japan, like everything else, apparently apart from the beef which came from England. They may be? Doesn't necessarily make their source a quality supplier does it? Despite being re-served in a sukiyaki pan I had my reservations whether my food had just been left on the side and warmed up last minute and tipped back in, the contents 'pinged' before serving. The sound of the microwave was certainly audible on a regular bases. The toughness of the meat would suggest that it had been. That weird strange haze of heat over the food would also suggest so. We complained. The manager had all the answers. Well practiced, read the review responses alongside the constant claims of quality provenance. I'm sure she'll have all the answers and slap downs to this review. Justifying the ingrediants, the food with it's 'unique flavours', the changes having had to be made to accommodate gluten free customers, the shifts after Covid. The constant refrain of 'it's not to everyone's taste'. As regular diners of Japanese food we've never tasted anything like it. Truly unique flavours. Certainly not to our taste. On our return we'll head to Sushi Mami for authentic food. We never intend to have to taste anything like this again.

Myself and my partner was looking for somewhere to eat before a gig. And our usual spots were fully booked. When she decided she wanted Teriyaki Salmon. So she booked us here. As we walked in we were greeted to the sight of cherry blossoms around the room and a Japanese pagoda The staff were friendly and chatty. And were very quick to take our order. The starters were delicious and the main course more so. The meal itself only came to £50 for the two of us I'd personally recommend the Chicken Gyoza and the Salmon Teriyaki

The lovely Japanese cherry blossomed themed ambience makes a wonderful backdrop to the dining experience - a great place to take someone visiting Manchester for the first time. The tiger prawn tempura was crisp and light and the karaage chicken was immensely flavourful. The 10-piece sushi platter came with 3 cucumber maki rolls which wasn't to my liking, I wish there was a little more variety to the rolls included. However, the quality of the tuna and salmon nigiri were commendable, with a perfect ratio of fish to rice. The squid nigiri was quite standard, as was the octopus. I would recommend ordering plates of your preferred sushi, rather than go for a platter unless you are ordering for a large group that might follow the sushi with a heavier meal. Otherwise, service was great and we had a lovely time.

Unbelievably disgusting. Ordered through Uber Eats, spent £45 on 2 Ramens and a tray of veggie sushi and every single item is bland and tasteless. The noodles are that overcooked they are mush, the broth is basically just water, you get 1 piece of pak choi with the ramen and no other veg, the meat is sour and smells off and the sushi looks like it was prepared last week. Do not waste your money here. (I added the sesame seeds and other oils to try and make the food taste of something!!!) I've seen better sushi in a petrol station I've just been through and read the majority of the bad reviews and the replies from the management team are absolutely appalling, you can learn a lot about a venue by how the staff speak to customers, I'm really glad I didn't dine in. Edit: I received a full refund from Uber Eats Edit 2: I knew I would get a pathetic excuse from the staff. Travelling makes food loose it's taste 🤣🤣 I've never heard such nonsense. I've had better, more flavourful ramen/pho from further away and where the noodles remained intact and not the consistency of kitchen sink drain pasta.

Delicious, healthy food, in nice, calming ambience, with good service. The tempura veggies were the best we've ever had; the vegetables themselves just seemed to be superior in quality and bursting with flavor, and battered lightly, just right. Seaweed salad and miso soup were excellent, but the show-stopper was the sashimi salmon: excellent quality, generous in size, and presented beautifully on a bed of crushed ice. I've been coming here since 2017 before visiting Japan. I wanted to experience Japanese food before visiting the country. We did some research and found this restaurant in Manchester about 35 miles away from us. I just can't say enough about the staff. Ever since our first visit they've been so kind and friendly. Were on first name terms and they often ask how we're doing when we post on Facebook. The service is the best I've enjoyed in Manchester. The food is authentic to the Japanese recipe and having visited Tokyo, the Tonkotsu Pork Ramen always makes me think of Japan. It tastes exactly as it should and authentic. The quality of the food is incredibly high as if the standard of the restaurant in general. I've never had a complaint in six years and I've have so many good memories. My little boy loves every visit and he's made friends with so many people here. I don't often eat out, especially with the cost of living going up. But when I can, I'll happy make the trip to come back, no questions asked. Especially when it's your birthday and they remembered and surprise you with a nice iced cream! ❤️❤️

A pretty decent food experience, not the most faithful of Japanese food but it was tasty never the less, somethings on the menu that were a big surprise, a welcome one. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, every interaction was met with smiles and as much help as could be provided. The service was fast but it didn't impact the quality of the food, portion size Vs price was a little off, you are paying extra for it being Japanese food and the rolls themselves look small for the amount paid, this doesn't take away from the fact that it was tasty though. If you haven't had any or had very little Japanese food, this place is ideal as it's a good entry point.

Great restaurant with a very welcoming team on board. Friendly staff and managers are exceptional in keeping work flow organised and efficient. Food came quick with excellent quality. Wide range of drinks on offer too including a few things from Asia I have never even tried or heard of before. Will definitely coke againS the price is not student friendly though but aside from that, definitely should go.

Welcoming. Cater to allergies. Chicken is halal. Points for transparency - allergen menu stated same oil used to fry food. Of course, that further limited our options. Enjoyed Dragon roll and wife liked her chicken yakisoba. Also had salmon norimaki but felt it was overpriced given its small size.

We came here due to the high number of google reviews so thought it must be decent. The sushi options wasn’t great, salmon sashimi did not taste fresh, slightly off. The wakame seaweed salad came in a little rice bowl and costs £4 for literally...
