Great value cod and chips with their lunchtime offer. Fish was very fresh with good batter. Tasty chips and mushy peas too. Definitely recommend.

Placed an order online and never received it. I spoke with the shop and they said that it had left and the app said it was delivered. They told me to contact Just-eat to get a refund but there is no way of contacting them and it says my order number is wrong. So I’m £37 down and no food and no help from anyone. And to top it all off the shop says this happens regularly……so why continue to use them then????

Myself and my wife regularly enjoy a box of cheesy chips after walking our dog around Torquay harbour. At a fiver a box we had no problem paying a tenner for our snack - however the legitimising factor was that the chips were amazing, and most importantly, the grated cheese on top was a generous portion of rich, mouth-stinging mature cheddar and wholly worth the price. Long story short, yesterday they used generic, flavourless, powdery (I assume) mozzarella and 'cheez' mix. Not the same. And definitely not worth the price. I'll return when the cheddar does.

In torquay for the day and popped in for something to eat absolutely lovely food and excellent service would highly recommend we will definitely be going back when in the area 😀

We picked up a takeaway fish and chips and it was very tasty. I'm allergic to gluten so my partner and I both got gluten-free and he didn't notice, the batter was still delicious and crispy. - I have edited this review as, unfortunately, at my last visit I was informed that they no longer offer gluten free options.

Very nice just a little high in price

An excellent all-round service from start to finish. 24 of us, ordered fish and chips and various condiments for 7 p.m. The excellent service from our initial telephone conversation to the collection which was ready at 7 pm on the dot was five star. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

The best fish and chips I’ve eaten in my 40yrs of existence!! We ate indoors as a family of 3 and all enjoyed our food, particularly the chips which were perfection.

I visited this fish & chip restaurant today to celebrate being on holiday in my favourite county of Devon a week before Christmas, It wasn't my 1st choice due to a previous bad take away experience last year but nowhere else seemed to be open, I saw on their side window several lunchtime specials so I decided to take a chance, but really wish I hadn't as with the exception of the wine, everything else was a complete let down. I walked in & asked for a table for one, no smile but was told to sit wherever I wanted as there was only one table occupied, menus were then brought over to me & I was told about the lunchtime specials starting at £17.95, I asked about the offer on the window for the same 3 meals at £5 cheaper but the man told me that it shouldn't even be up there, so i decided on haddock & chips with a glass of white wine & ordered from a different man who was equally as miserable & who made me feel very uncomfortable, fortunately my wine when it arrived was chilled to perfection but it didn't look a large glass to me, however when my meal finally arrived it was much smaller than I expected, the fish looked thin & the batter far too overcooked but the chips I was horrified to discover that they were cheap quality packet chips, small, hard & not very warm, I was asked if I wanted any sauces so I asked for tartare sauce but I thought that this would be the standard condiment that comes with any fish meal, the batter was rock hard so thank goodness for the lemon slice plus it tasted very greasy as there was next to no fish inside, extremely thin with no taste to the haddock either so luckily between both the tartare sauce & the wine I managed to get through it as I was starving but i didn't enjoy it in the slightest as the chips were horrible, nobody bothered to come over to check if everything was ok otherwise i would of asked for a replacement meal. However after I had finished the manager came over to take my plate & said I can't believe that you ate all of that as the fish was enormous, he continued I couldn't of ate it all possibly insinuating that I am greedy which made me feel awful as I am only a size 8 with a lifelong eating disorder so that wasn't the best of things to say to me, I never saw him again after that but when I went to the till to pay as nobody had brought me my bill, I got charged almost £26 with even a 60p charge included for the tartare sauce, unbelievable so I really don't know how this establishment has so many positive reviews because when I go to a fish and chip shop, especially one with a restaurant, I expect thick chunky good quality fish in a light golden batter with proper sized cut chips made from good quality fresh potatoes, some people just shouldn't be in business & I will never return as that was not a comfortable nor happy eating out occasion or experience, just a cold miserable atmosphere.

First time coming here because over the years it's always been packed so never been able to go in, Today it wasn't so busy, service was amazing and staff were so helpful and friendly. Ordered our food and didn't have to wait long either.. I had cod, with unlimited chips, mushy peas and a drink, food was lovely and hot, and it's probably one of the best pieces of cod I've had.. the chips were so nice makes a change from these big chips you normally get everywhere.. Will definitely go there again if it's not too busy, they they also do take out and delivery so would definitely recommend.

Visiting family in Torquay and went to this really good fish and chip restaurant which is in fact a cut above normal establishments. Extensive fish menu with other alternatives. Haddock, Cod and children's cod bites were excellent. Plus the chicken burger which looked really good. In addition the onion rings were outstanding. Very friendly efficient staff. A place to go to if you are in Torquay

Had a very pleasant dining experience here, the staff were all very attentive. The food was fantastic (i particularly recommend the pickled onion rings and sweet curry sauce). Being local i've sampled most of the bays chippys and this is consistently, by far, the tastiest. Yes, you will find cheaper but in this world you get what you pay for.

Tasty cod fish & chips for lunch, crispy batter, red hot chips, mushy peas awesome! 👍👍 would come here again to be a bit more adventurous, as I can see they have an extensive fresh seafood menu which is all reasonably priced ! Some dishes look amazing, not your average fish and chip restaurant..at back of the take away it has nice ambience decor wise, clean feel, looks newly fitted out, would be nice to dine in of an evening with some wine or beer.

We visited Torquay in the week end, and after reading all the good reviews, we've decided to have a meal here. A cosy place, with amazing dishes and staff that are having an eye for detail.

Always seek this place out when we're down in Torquay. Have great fish and prawns. Hope today was just a blip, as the fish was measly. Ordered a small and regular cod, judging it on other fish and chip shop sizes, what I got was extra small and small. Not good value for money today I'm afraid. Chips were OK as was the fish cake. Shame about the fish..

Yay Gluten free fish and chips. That's the only good thing I can say. Was very bland and tasteless, drove 20 mins to get here. Should have saved my time, fuel and money.

Was working down here for a few days and found this place. Was a very good find too. I had fish and chips. Chips are cooked fresh I think the fish was too. Very nice highly recommend, staff are friendly too. I’ve not found fish that tastes so good in dudley that’s for sure. Was pricey but you get what you pay for. You can sit in too but it was late so I took mine back to the hotel. Would go here again if I’m ever down this way in the future.

Excellent fish restaurant. Good menu at a very good price. The grilled Haddock with a breaded bacon crust with a very generous tomato, onion and feta salad was delicious. Well worth a visit .

The most expensive and by far the worst fish and chips I have ever had. Small portion of fish, the chips were rock hard. It took ages to be cooked. All in all a complete waste of money. Far better to be had in Torquay, so stay well away from this place.

Went for takeaway last night I know it's all cooked fresh but had to wait over 30 minutes then when it arrived one meal wasn't even there

Well I was attracted here by some of the glowing reviews I had read. I'm guessing a lot of those must have been written by the staff and their friends. This was one of the worse fish and chip experiences I have had. The fish was well cooked but it was tiny. I had the standard size. It took me 6 mouthfuls to finish. The chips must have been recooked 3 times. Very dry and crispy. Couldn't eat half of them. More like crisps. Certainly didn't want any more even if they were endless. I sat in to eat. There were4 other customers all of whom had already eaten yet it still took 20 minutes to get my food. It took 3 minutes to eat. All this cost me £18 for fish, chips and curry sauce. Seriously bad value for money. Take my advice. Shop around. You could find much better.

Lovely fish and chips, good service and the restaurant had a nice atmosphere. Not cheap but worth it.

My partner and I went here before going to the theatre and it was a great choice. The fish was excellent and, unusually, so was the tea (my partner is very particular about her cups of tea). Even better, it's licensed so I was able to have a glass of wine with my Haddock and chips. Highly recommended.

A really great place..! Being on the seafront, and having the inherent tourist traffic that comes with that, it would be easy to just “phone it in”, knowing that a large portion of your customer base won’t be coming back very often… this place doesn’t fall into that trap. The staff are friendly… the manager/owner(?) even gave us napkins on entry to dry our specs after coming in from a torrent, and was attentive without being overbearing. The food was absolutely excellent… some of the best fish n’ chips I’ve eaten. Not at all greasy and very fresh. Oh, and the background music is a cornucopia of 80’s greatness..!

Saltwater came highly recommended to us, it also offers gluten free batter which is a real bonus. We've been twice now for takeaway and not sure we will head back - the food is very good but the haddock portions are very small - even regular which is about £3 more expensive but doesn't really correspond in size compared to the smaller offering. Alby all accounts the cod is a decent size but we choose not to eat cod as not very sustainable. The search goes on for a good value F&C in Torquay.

I’m sorry but I ordered a chippy lunch for my family for my birthday, and very disappointed, the chips were to hard to eat and the fish batter was to crispy , not to the usual high standard it usually is

Beautiful prepared and presented fish and chips with sides of peas , curry and bread & butter . Washed down with , possibly the strongest , coffee I've ever tasted and a marvellous well brewed pot of tea. A little more than I usually pay but it was excellent.

Not worth the money you pay. It was a very long wait, the staff wasn’t very friendly at all and the portion sizes was poor. I am not the one to complain but when you pay £8.25 for a regular fish £4.75 for chips and wishy washy gravy for £1.75 it’s very disappointing. You think your going to get something spectacular but it was nothing special.

First time visiting torquay as a family of 4, we could smell the lovely scent of the chips from down the road, decided to sit inside, due to a lot of the restaurants being full on a Saturday night. And honest it is the best chippy I have ever tasted, great sized portions , not a drop of grease, would recommend to anyone visiting the area. Happy , full fed family.

Thought we would try here on our visit to Torquay this time as we had a bad experience with the Rockfish restaurant nearby at Easter. So glad we did. The staff were friendly and we had the full menu choice ( which we didn’t at Rockfish). The fish we had was well cooked and tasty. Will definitely be back.

We had take away from here. Very nice chips, cooked fresh to order and with a nice crunch and fluffy inside. Haddock was very tasty too and the batter really nice. Possibly the best mushy peas ever. Happy to go again if we have the opportunity.

Very over priced. Chips was hard small hard and crispy, cod was over cooked. The childrens portion portion at £8.95 was larger than the cod and chips me snd the wife had priced at £13.95 each. Service was slow, forgot to bring things we asked for not worth the price locals recommend the great British chippy down the road and its a lot cheaper. Mini Fish and chips for 2 adults and 2 kids should not be £60

I liked the way that the 'standard' fish and chip options were upgradable with line caught catch of the day. It's far from a cheap option though!

We had fish and chips and chargrilled mackerel. The food was fantastic. The staff was attentive and efficient. All in all, a great experience. We'll go back.

The best fish and chip restaurant/take away on our South West road trip. We ate here last year, which was excellent, so we returned this year. Beautiful, white, flaky, skinless cod and crispy chips. First time for us in this place 20th Aug Very friendly/helpful nothings too much trouble Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch which included Pot of tea each. Found the music far too loud especially when other customers were sat in a small area where we were. Unusual cups for tea!! Until we found out ourselves Yes you will have too as well but what a surprise! Plus we had a good day in Torquay and the fishnchip place made it for us

Best fish and chips I've had for ages. Gluten free options were really appreciated and being dog friendly the whole family could sit down. They even brought a chilled bowl of water for our dog as it was quite warm that evening. Recommended!

For the price of the food,expected bigger pieces of fish. Had to pay extra for tartar sauce. Wasn't a fan of the silly cups you get( No handles) . Probably wouldn't return as not value for money. Staff friendly enough.

Excellent Torquay chippy. Picturesque harbour views through large Victorian bay windows. The food was sensational. Delicious fish and curry sauce. One minor quibble: the chips could have been slightly chunkier with less frazzled bits. 25 quid for the above and a pot of tea. The service was excellent. We were served by Tony, who was polite, chatty and very professional in his approach and interest in our enjoyment of the food. Recommended.

Me and my partner came in the other day and this place is amazing we had the garlic and chilli prawns starter and haddock and prime cod fish was cooked to perfection thin crisp batter and great customer service from everyone our waiter was called Tony a must visit when coming to torquay will visit again

Fish & Chips for dinner! Absolutely first class food with a great choice of drinks. We had the Special Prawn starter each, followed by a Hake & Cod main. Food was delicious and hot and well presented. Fish was flaky and cooked perfectly. You can ask for extra chips, but you don't really need too. Decent price for starters and mains x2 plus bottle of wine £88. Well worth a visit, but do book if you plan to go on a Saturday night. Would recommend.

Excellent and yummy small cod and chips with mushy peas. Also ordered battered sausage and chips, and it was over £20! Son said it was the worst battered sausage he'd ever tasted, which is some achievement based on my cooking. Was inedible and binned 🙄

Lovely restaurant who welcomed our dog in and brought her a bowl of water too. Pricey but you get what you pay for; stunning cod and unlimited homecooked chips which my husband made full use of. It was a really tasty meal and a special treat when you are on holiday. Takeaway is much cheaper - we are just waiting for the weather!

The food is tasty... however, if you aren't staying in quite a small hotel room (with your two children) I would recommend getting takeaway as eating in is the most expensive fish and chips I've ever had. And I've had some very nice fish and chips in the Cotswolds... And while tasty, it is rather overpriced. Unlimited Chips is a nice option, but including either a sauce or mushy peas would make it more enticing for sure. Service was good.

Excellent food - thank you. The large chips were more than enough for two people. The cod was light and fluffy while the chips were a good ratio of potato and crispiness. We waited for about 25 minutes after placing the order, but they had lots of orders through the restaurant, takeaway and Just Eats orders.

This is a very busy restaurant by the harbour in Torquay so prebooked our table. The fish & chips were fantastic and all cooked fresh and the batter was not thick. I had haddock for a change and it melted in the mouth. Excellent choice...
