Sakura in Belfast

Sushi lovely, dumplings lovely. Main meals very average and quite stodgy particularly for the cost okay but wouldn't rush back.

My favourite restaurant in Belfast, was there last on valentine's Day. The sushi, food and service was amazing as always, I also at times go alone for lunch because of the friendly, helpful staff who give you good service but do not over crowd you and leave you alone till you need something or it's time to pay, I like that in a place. Always appears clean and I love the space they have there.

Sakura is a brilliant family run Japanese Restaurant in the thriving Botanic area of South Belfast, They host a great selection of Sushi, Dumplings & other Asian Cuisine for starters with a wide variety of different options for people who aren’t the biggest fish fans, the Kaiten-sushi or rotating belt with small dishes priced per the colour of the plate is also an amazing option for people who want to try new things or just like the feel of a more authentic sushi bar, I really feel that the Set Menus are where Sakura really starts to shine with a great option of 4 courses consisting of Duck, Sushi and Dumplings with desert all being available for under 30£ per person, with the Quality of the food being so high and staff being so nice I would definitely rate this as one of my Favourite places in Belfast, and also the one I would go to the most with a Meal for me and my partner ending up around 70£ including a Hot Saki (rice alcohol) which works great to clear your pallet between courses.

The staff was great, the food was meh. Crab tempura was not very good, but the rolls were okay. The tuna sashimi was good. Expensive compared to similar sushi in the area.

The online lady attending to us was very polite and courteous. The food was awesome .... Thank you very much 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ all the way

I didn't really like my sweet and sour chicken. On the other hand, their desserts are really delicious. Just a shame to be forced to leave the restaurant when we haven't finished our drinks and the restaurant is empty...

I'd the pleasure of having birthday dinner here. I chose from the three course set menu and was so pleased with the quality and presentation of the dishes. The staff are helpful, pleasant, and good at their job. The food was fantastic, the sushi was exceptional, as was my other dishes. I can't wait to visit again.

A lovely Japanese eatery. The food is simply awesome. Service is super fast. Nice ambience. Very reasonable pricing as well. Tailor make your food your palate. Great vegetarian options as well . Do not miss.

I've been eating here for several years, when I lived on Botanic Avenue and now whenever I am in Belfast. Great selection of sushi, other Japanese dishes, and the usual Chinese restaurant fare. Service is A1 too. Never disappoints, keeps getting better

Authentic and enjoyable experience! Good selection of sushi on the conveyor and all the dishes we ordered were really tasty. I enjoyed the braised beef ramen noodles and the prawn tempura! Kids are their own weight in sushi. Slightly shabby around the edges but that somehow added to the authenticity! Expect to pay £90-£100 for a family of 4 without any booze. We will come back soon.

It gets better and better. Quality, quantity and a great choice on the menu. We loved it and even though we arrived late evening, they made us feel welcome and the service was excellent throughout.

I went there on a Sunday evening, the schedule was close to closing time, I sat at the bar in front of the conveyor belt so I could admire the plates parading in front of me. I took 2 green plates and ordered "Regular Sushi Platter 8 pcs" I enjoyed the presentation and the diversity, the fish and the rice was good but...it could be better. I would go back there anyway... because I would like to try sashimi next time...

We would love to go back, but I don't think we will. We arrived at 21.10 knowing we had limited time to eat as it closes at 22.00. By 21.40 we were done and out. Within these 30 minutes we were reminded that the kitchen was closing twice. The head waiter was not rude, but could do some work on making guests feel welcome. Most importantly, there was a banana fly in one of the belt dishes. I returned it to the waiter and he casually opened the lid to let the fly out and placed it back on the conveyor belt. That was an immediate turn off. To be fair, seconds later we noticed several banana flies flying around the conveyor belt that were thankfully deterred from approaching us with a simple wave of the hand. The bill was charged in full.

Just had the ramen, 🍜 0 out of ten ! No veg , no egg , just noddles and chicken broth. Went to the bin unfortunately - was £9.50.

We had the set menu and it was outstanding! Every bite was absolutely delicious. The service was impeccable, attentive without being invasive. And really reasonably priced for how much food we received. Would recommend and we plan to return soon.

Food is ok. Sushi was very good as well as the squid. The noodle dish was just ok. The rice dish was ok asa ell. The service is very good.

Really great Japanese restaurant. Exceptionally delicious tempura, sushi, seaweed salad and mains..Such lovely food and service today. Lucky to have this restaurant in Belfast.

Went in for early dinner and got beef brisket ramen. The broth itself was great, and the noodles reasonable. Though the only topping was pak choi, which felt lacking for a full price ramen, a bit of a let down. Had one plate of Nigiri which was nice, but nothing special. Overall felt the ramen was just missing parts of the dish I would expect, perhaps an egg, Nori etc. Waiters were friendly and responsive, good staff.

Traditional Japanese restuarant with a menu bound to have something you like. Ordered yakitori skewer, assorted tempura and ramen with a drink, came to £24. Reasonably priced in my opinion and was delicious.

Absolutely gorgeous food in a peaceful setting. Every dish was great, from prawn tempura to beef teriyaki. Top sushi too. Staff were attentive, not intrusive. Visit here!

Excellent lunch. Place buzzing and noticeable how many Japanese customers there. Chicken seaweed miso soup, crab and avocado sushi, green tea. Great value. Will definitely be back.

Partner and I were always fans of Sakura. Great food and tasty sushi. However, we were in on valentine's night, our table was booked for 8pm. We were choosing our food, and needed an extra few minutes to decide our selection of sushi. This seemed to annoy our server and the waitress then rudely barked at us that did we know they were closing at 9? (This was at 8:08). The remainder of the meal, we had things being cleared from the table while we were still eating, furniture being moved around us and at one point, staff standing on chairs and tearing the valentine's decorations down.... Ourselves and another couple or 2 were still eating our meal... I have never been made to feel so unwelcome and rushed in a restaurant before. It completely ruined our night. I suggest not offering the 8pm booking, as it was clearly a massive inconvenience to the staff. Have also tried multiple times to contact the restaurant regarding this issue and have been ignored. We were frequent visitors but as a result of this treatment, highly likely we won't be back.

Very friendly staff, helpful with navigating menu for vegetarian options and has a nice, relaxing interior. The food was excellent and for a good price. Will definitely visit again.

Tuesday 7th Feb was my first experience in a Japanese restaurant. The food and service was excellent. We went for my grandsons birthday and i was surprised he ate all he asked for. I started with the crispy seaweed salad it was to die for. My party got Sushi which they raved about. The mains were also great. We will be back soon....

Not the best. More like a Chinese takeaway sushi restaurant. £16 for a seafood curry thing without rice and very little seafood. Me and my partner have ate in a lot of sushi/ramen restaurants and this is nowhere close to the quality and taste we are used to. Plus we didn’t like our waiter he was quite odd, we won’t be back.

In my opinion the restaurant is on a slow but steady decline. Choice of sushi on the train was poor, my favourite dish got smaller. I know times are difficult, buy I belive sometimes it's worth put the prices up to preserve the quality of the brand.

I have to reiterate the words of one previous review: It was really nice Japanese meal. I would advise anyone to pop in for a lovely meal. It is very clean accordingly to standard, customer service well trained. I could not ask for better.

Sakura was the first japanese restaurant I went in Belfast. I ordered an udon and it was disgusting! It was too greasy. I honestly never seen a greasy udon like that. Udons are not meant to be a greasy dish! I couldnt finish it.

Food is delicious but a bit pricey.

Came here one evening when working in Belfast. The service was excellent and all staff were very helpful and attentive. There is a sushi carousel in the middle of the restaurant (like at Yo Sushi) which is good and better priced. I decided to order from the main menu and wasn’t best pleased. The food was okay but not what I expected. Perhaps I chose poorly, however for the evening and the next morning I had a very bad stomach.

Only ever have takeaways. I love their tofu pockets. Always comes with ginger (wasabi if you like it 😱sauces and chopstix.

What delightful place....food so clean and delightful on the palate...well worth a visit...no long pauses to get food...perfect if you want in and out quick...equally sure great if you want a longer evening. Recommend Won Ton soup....as well as other dishes.

I have been eating here in the last 15 years and witnessed as the place deteriorated bit by bit. Once a great restaurant with great quality sushi and dishes, now just a hollow shell of itself. I love the staff, it’s not their fault, maybe the management should step their game up and also give a facelift to the place. Originally I gave it 4 stars, now it’s down to 3. Sorry guys.

My experience at Sakura was great as it always is! Seated by the window during a busy time of the evening, not only were we seated instantly, but also catered to as though we were the only ones in the restaurant, it felt very personable. I had a Curry Udon Bowl with Pork and on a previous journey had the California rolls. Both were spectacular and I will often speak with friends to convince them to go and try it as it is so delicious, warming and filling. The cost is amazing, somehow they pack all the service, meals and experience into a really wallet friendly package. I honestly can't recommend Sakura enough, if you're new to this cuisine or a seasoned veteran, you can rest assured you will find something you enjoy at this establishment.

Fantastic food in a pleasant setting

I am quite aggressive and rude people to serve, if you go to the restaurant and you cannot speak English well, they serve you as if you were asking them to be rude and rude. It will be this will be my last time that I try to be able to eat in this place. I think they should be more friendly people, because in Ireland the Irish shine and are recognized for their education and kindness even if you are not brilliant in their language (in this case English) my rating for these people is 0 for their rudeness and antipathy.

We’ve been there for dinner at the running sushi. What a disappointing experience. The choice of different plates was limited, e. g. no tuna nigiri. Kitchen was not clean. Can’t recommend this location.

We love Sakura, best food in Belfast. We come every year on my birthday, got engaged here, and have been many times in between. We absolutely love the food here and the staff are amazing. Thank you guys for another wonderful meal!

Eat here so much feel my wife and I should have shares in the place. my wife loves sushi and Saki (rice wine) while I love their grilled salmon and tempura with miso soup. Excellent friendly waiters who we've got to know very well.

Literally mine and my partners favourite place. Beautiful interior, lovely staff, traditional food, and we come here for every special occasion and whenever we're craving super fresh tasting sushi. Can't say enough good things about this place.
