Sage in North East Lincolnshire

Very good food. Service was exceptional. We had just a main meal and dessert. Between us both the flatbreads and the tagliatelle were cooked exceptionally and the puddings were fairly good too. Only reason for a 4 not 5 is a couple of minor gripes. - The service felt a bit forced at times. Like things weren't that busy but we were on a date and felt a bit rushed - The menu currently feels a bit "odd". Like it's super Mediterranean themed (Pasta / Flatbreads / Fish / Halloumi / Greek meze) and the restaurant says English/European. But then there's a bunch of burgers which doesn't make sense....

This is by far a family favourite restaurant. Stepping through the doors you are greeted like friends. The service is wonderful and so is the food.

First time we’ve visited Sage after lots of excellent word of mouth. Wow!! They were not wrong. Absolutely gorgeous food, steak and duck both cooked to perfection, generous portion sizes and excellent choice. Really enjoyed every single mouthful and left feeling full. Service and atmosphere was great. We will definitely visit again. Would highly recommend to others for food, service and hospitality Great work guys

We booked a table for Saturday lunch, recommend you do book. Very nice place with a lovely relaxed feel. The food was absolutely delicious, original dishes full of flavour and the portion sizes were generous. Drinks options also good. Service was excellent attentive but not too much so, just right. Been meaning to try this place for a long time just wish I’d done so much sooner.

Saw the restaurant on Trip Advisor and as we live in Grimsby decided to book. The food and service were excellent, couldn’t fault it.. We spent many years living in France where for the most part the food is great and we were really surprised to find something so good in Grimsby. Such a change from the normal run of the mill menus. We would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great menu and quality food. We have booked again for my husband birthday in a couple of weeks time.

An invitingly small but bijou establishment. The maître d never stopped smiling and exuded a sense of pride, and so she should. The menu was small but exciting and the flavours exploded the taste buds. It is an experience I will be keen to repeat when I visit Grimsby again.

Good food, nice ambience and warm and cosy on a foggy night. Very good coffee and walnut and chocolate cakes.

Great little restaurant wouldn't look a miss on a street in Greece.. Really fresh original Mediterranean style menu.. I had Prawns to start cooked perfectly with a tomato bread presented beautifully. Main I chose the Sea Bream with Prawns with buttery new potatoes on a bed of stir fry vegetables..very tasty other side choices available along with choice of fresh zingy sauces I chose the mint yoghurt..lovely taste combo.. My partner had the Satay Chicken stick with a lovely to die for peanut dip.. main he chose the homemade kofta Kebab with skin on chips and garlic mayo..again on a bed of stir fry vegetables.. Really nice ambiance in the restaurant busy so I'd book we were lucky to get in.. No waiting between courses Staff professional and friendly Mid priced menu so won't cost a fortune my Sea Bream main was £19 I think .. Definitely recommend you try Sage for a fresh tasty and comfy meal out.

We went here to celebrate my partners birthday , after trying on two previous occasions to dine here ( we aren't local ). We were not disappointed, the food was out of this world 😋.. unfortunately for us, and we do take half the blame. we did encounter a couple of issues mainly based on the menus only being on the wall. We felt incredibly uncomfortable standing in the middle of the floor area, staring over the heads of two couples dining. I choose rustic breads with olives , but unfortunately used the word flatbread , which then prompted the server to ask what flavour , which confused me even more 🤔 so in a panic ditched the starters all together 😪 we ordered our main meals,we were asked what sauces we would like , we both declined and server explained each served with a stir fry base . . When food arrived , she asked if we were sure we hadn't wanted sides ,we then realised it was included and we should have spotted that on the menu boards ! .. BUT , what we did eat was AMAZING, beautifully presented and cooked to perfection .. 100% we will be back , and next time we will read the menu entirely and have the most amazing night out !

Four of us dined here, myself, my wife and my parents. We all thought the food was beautiful. My wife and I had the charcuterie board to share, this had cheese, meats, breads, chutney and dips. It was lovely and (not a complaint) filling. Parents had prawns and chicken satay, again both said it was lovely. For main course my wife and I shared the kofte, which to the other dishes, was ok, and the duck, which was amazing. Mum thoroughly enjoyed the duck, as did dad with the sea bass. No desserts as we was all full. We will definitely eat here again.

Great food, good atmosphere and reasonably priced. Highly recommend the king prawns starter. A must for foodies looking for something different in Grimsby. £88 for 2 x starters, 2 x mains 1 x dessert and a bottle of wine, plus tip. We’ll be back 🤗

Grimsby gets a bit of stick for being a bit rough. I've certainly not had any problems over the times I've worked here. Sage is superb with wonderful food and service. I'd be amazed if there was anywhere better to eat in Grimsby.

Just had a superb meal at Sage Restaurant. Such a cosy friendly atmosphere and nothing is too much trouble. Friendly and attentive staff who go the extra distance in pursuit of excellence and making your evening a little more special. The food is fresh and flavour some and the King Prawns in chilli/garlic oil were to die for. It was like an angel crying on my tounge. Sabine is in total control and most helpful. If she were "Stocks and Shares" then I would heavily invest in her. A great evening and I cannot wait to return again to sample so more of the delights they have on offer I highly recommend the Sage and the prices are very reasonable. Finally decided to try this place. After many recommendations.. Really wish I had not bothered... My meal was not very nice at all.. I had the chicken, chorizo pasta... All I could taste was chorizo.. I know chorizo has a very strong taste, but it just cancelled out any chance of tasting any other flavours.. The chicken was well overcooked, very chewy...and hard.... Really disappointed... Especially for £14..which was one of the cheapest options... Very poor selection of beers.. No Ipa's. Its 2023... Get with the times, people like more than flavourless beers and lagers...

Just a great place, the food, the atmosphere and the customer service is just first class. The menu has something for everyone without being too big and the food is clearly freshly prepared. Will definitely return and recommend to all!

I have been privileged to come here whenever I work in Grimsby, over the last 4 or 5 years. The food is always excellent as is the service. Grimsby doesn't have a great reputation, not sure why, but I would thoroughly recommend Sage.

We had king prawn cooked in olive oil , then mushroom pasta and grilled sea brass and king prawn then finished off with chocolate concrete with custard . Recently booked a family meal because i havent seen my brother kyle in over 6 months, due to the coronavirus pandemic, im a vegan and a transgender and i wish to be treated with equal respect, i was looking forward to this meal, but soon after i arrived i was being mocked for my appearance. I asked for the vegan buttermilk chicken burger, but i was served a pizza which resembelled an animated character! My husband and I were visiting Grimsby for a show and booked Sage due to it's excellent online reviews. We were not disappointed!The restaurant is small but very comfortable and we were made welcome as soon as we arrived with the owner remembering us from our telephone call to book the table.The menu is extensive and I can highly recommend the mushroom soup which was delicious, as was the prawn starter. We both had the fillet steak which was perfectly cooked along with everything else which accompanied it.The lemon cheesecake which others had recommended in their reviews, was amazing. They thoroughly deserve the award they received as 'Restaurant of the year' Such a shame we live in Manchester, otherwise we would be eating here every week!

Excellent food, excellent service

Very quiet the evening we were there. We had a couple of burgers; the Spanish one was excellent beef but the Greek lamb was really overcooked, which lamb should never be surely. Despite the lack of customers, the waitress didn’t really engage with us, she preferred to disappear into the kitchen so we couldn’t be bothered giving her feedback. The sides with the burgers were good – fat chips, salad and coleslaw. We drank a good value bottle of Oz Shiraz.

Well where to start. We have been waiting to visit Sage for a long time. Now we can come back into the country we would not wait to take the parents there. And we were not disappointed. The location. The decor. The service. They menu. The food. One word. Superb. Absolutely superb. The menu is so tempting. And we look forward to coming back. Fully recommended and so beautifully run by the owners. Cannot recommend enough. This is the place to visit in the area.

Amazing food,great service,couldn't fault our experience at all. My husband and I visited last night. Starters were to die for!! chicken satay skewers. I had fillet steak,hubby had lamb kofta. Presentation of all food even down to the cheese board was lovely. Atmosphere was chilled and relaxed, attentive service but not intrusive, food was amazing as I said previously and piping hot and not long between courses. Beautiful duck breast with creamy dauphinois potatoes and perfectly cooked sea bass for my chap! Followed up with the berry pavlova to share! All thoroughly tasty, cooked to perfection and great service too!

Superb cuisine, convivial ambience, charming staff and a master chef. Simply a delight.

An excellent meal with friendly and helpful service. Great menus nicely laid out on large blackboards. Loved the Mains which allowed you to choose from a variety of sauces and sides effectively increasing the combinations of main courses available. Portion sizes perfectly judged too. Shared a delicious chicken chorizo flatbread and just about had enough room for the main course. Highly recommended and great value.
