Booked a table for my mum's 70th surprise birthday meal the staff was really friendly looked after each of us made sure we were all happy with our meals the food was fantastic really good size portions and price wasn't too bad.

I think they should anwser there phone if people are trying to book a table been ringing for over hour still no anwser

said it was open on the website only to find out when we called it was shut but they answered! shocking

This was a great meal, enjoyed by all of us. Good menu with lots of choices and it's BYO. We would thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

The takeaway menu sounds like the restaurant cares both about its food and its customers. Sadly, my first-hand experience bore no resemblance to that impression. I had to email twice before getting only a quick, one-line reponse that did not even begin to answer a clearly stated question regarding a small selection of specific dishes regarding allergies. Two further attempts at getting some more information failed. This despite the restaurant's statement that they can cater to dietary needs. Sadly, I never even got to the stage of actually ordering and sampling any of their food, which is disappointing because this was going to be a family treat. Feel very let down.

It is almost one year since I last visited and was disappointed on that occasion. It is my daughters favourite restaurant and whilst visiting her recently took her and her husband for a meal there. This visit was entirely different from the last. The staff were welcoming and the food was really good. The vegetable pathia was outstanding. Full of flavour and served as a big portion. The others really enjoyed the mains they chose.

Website allows you to book a table. On arrival they then advise it’s takeaway only. Left a number and still no contact. Pretty shoddy service. Was then told a takeaway order would take over an hour!! Wasted a journey.

Amazing food, best Indian and so please it’s our local. The food is cooked to perfection and the portion sizes are generous. Love it and highly recommend it to anyone. Takeaway every week 😃

Just had a take away chicken tikka pathia the best I’ve ever had fantastic. Never had a bad meal here

We ordered for collection, first time trying as we’re staying nearby. The aloo gobi was undercooked, the cauliflower was still quite raw and tough, very bland, tasteless. The chicken Saag was also very bland, the chicken was tough,no taste just bland. Partner had the biter chicken which was ok, disappointed as was looking forward to a decent curry after reading the reviews.

Had a really nice meal here, Staff are really nice and friendly made the experience a pleasure. Food choice and quality was excellent. Bring your own booze is a great idea. Moving to the area shortly and looking to make this our regular.

Whilst the staff were not unfriendly they certainly were not friendly. No greeting as we entered just shown to our reserved table. The food was average and did not have the flavour I was anticipating. Unlikely to return.

We turned up on a rainy Thursday evening and were soon accommodated in the small dining room. Normal Indian menu with enough choices for the vegetarians in our party. No alcohol licence held so only soft drinks on sale but they are happy for you to bring your own beer and wine and provide a bottle opener and glasses. The food was delicious (our dhansak was a little hotter than we were used to!) and the portions were generous

Go to Saffron whenever I am visiting my sister, always warmly welcomed, helpfuul when wanting advice on food choice. Never had a bad meal.

We were staying in the area for a week and had a takeaway from saffron. The korma was pale and pretty tasteless, the chicken tikka had pre cooked chicken used in it and was tough. Disappointing.

Called in early one Friday evening for a takeaway only to find it very busy and were told that our order would be at least 35 minutes.

Bring your own beer/wine is always good and reduces the food bill.

Spending a long weekend in Knighton we were recommended this Indian restaurant. It is not the smartest place I have ever eaten in but I could not fault the food and value for money. They do not serve alcohol, but you are more than welcome to take your own wine/beer to drink

We REALLY enjoyed our first meal - it won’t be our last.

Very poor food, everything tasted pre cooked, we ordered different curries but they were the same colour, smell and taste but the only difference was one was slightly hotter, the chicken was uniform squared with an unusual texture and not very hot. The rice was ok, the naan was stodgy. Very overpriced for what you got. We didn’t eat very much and wouldn’t go back.

Ordered take away. The staff are really polite and helpful. The menu is comprehensive and the food is gorgeous. Great value and well worth a visit.

We were renting a cottage in the town & ordered a takeaway for my son & friend. We were told 8.40pm but didn’t actually get it until 9.20 but they did apologise and gave us a large bottle of coke. We said when we left we were coming back to eat in. We arrived back about 15 mins later and by that time all the takeaway people had gone and the restaurant was emptying. We had poppadoms, starters and mains which were all delicious. Total bill £30 as they have no license so no alcohol to pay for. Staff were very friendly and would go again if in the area again

Love this Indian Restaurant, food is so nice and as I like it very spicey, they'll tweek a dish for my taste without any problems.

Saffron doesn’t look fancy from the outside but the takeaway service is very popular. We were almost the only people eating in, but the food was imaginative and freshly cooked (though the samosas were not home made I think). The food was brought to our table with warmed plates and heat mat to keep it warm. Professional and friendly service, plus it is BYO. Very good value.

Very nice Indian. Large portions of tasty food and £12.95 deal id good value. Onion bhajis a little lacking in flavour but curry, rice, nan etc delicious. Special Byriani excellent. Highly recommended.

We visited on a Thursday night for the banquet night which for £12.95 is very good value. Mixed Starter is very tasty and perfectly seasoned. I found the chicken pakoras to be very greasy however. The Lamb tikka masala and Garlic Chicken main were very good. Lamb very tender! Its bring your own which means the total bill was only £28!

Myself and partner visited here during our stay in Knighton. We went for a a meal deal which consisted of poppadoms and pickle tray, a starter, main and naan/rice with a coffee to finish off for 12.95 per person. The restaurant has a good ambience with Indian music playing and staff were very attentive. We would recommend and aother bonus is that you can also bring your own alcohol.

The food here was of excellent quality and value. The chicken tikka was lean, well-spiced, and generously portioned. The lamb dhansak similarly included lean cuts of lamb and was quite spicy and flavorful. Excellent value for money, and we would eat here again.

We regularly get a take away from the Saffron and have never had a bad meal. We feel very lucky to have such a great Indian restaurant so close by. The range of dishes is good and we especially love the naan breads and the price is very reasonable indeed.

Group of friends had a takeaway last week, was ready for collection at agreed time and food was very nice. Would expect some free popodoms with a meal over £50 but that was my only complaint.

Good service by staff here. Good portion sizes and tasty curry, naan and rice. Good prices for set meals and menu aside. If you have a party and don't all select the set menu be advised you will be charged for the most expensive main meal no matter who ordered it. Bring your own booze is amazing. Would recommend.

Takeaway and very polite and helpfull staff the vindaloo was awsome. Def worth a visit. Didnt eat in so cant comment on the resturant but if the standard of takeaway anything to go by id def say its worth a visit

meal for 4 priced at £35, cant go wrong. Very nice dishes, the Chicken Pathia was a little sweet for me, whilst I appreciate it is a sweet and sour dish, it was more sweet than sour, but still enjoyed it. The variety of nann breads we ordered were equally pleasant, although not being from the area, not aware of too much competition fro other restaurants, this would invariably bring the standard up to 5 out of 5. Would I visit again? Yes. There was a sign out side saying bring your own bottle, that's always nice to see!

This place is absolutely amazing. They are so kind and helpful, they also do a mean Chicken Tikka Mossala that you could not find anywhere else. I have eaten here plenty of times and not once has it made me want to think twice about going again.

We ate here once about five years ago and then had two takeaways. before deciding we were not at all impressed and did not return until last evening. Various friends had said it was good so we tried it for a takeaway. The interior does not look very inspiring but the welcome was warm. The menu is quite extensive with some chef's specials and they swopped chicken in one dish for king prawn for me. The tarka dahl was excellent. We love this so always tend to measure Indian restaurants by the excellence or otherwise of their tarka dahl! To reassure though I can say all the food was excellent and we look forward to returning soon. Prices seem very reasonable too.

As most others are saying, the food here is pretty good, and certainly better than the average Indian restaurant. Interior a bit dull, service not that gracious, but the best food choice in Knighton, and for miles around. Very busy.

How would you expect to be treated if you discovered that your tandoori chicken was uncooked at the bone? Profuse apology and a full refund? Not here!!!! We received an indifferent shrug as the dish was whisked away! When we pursued the issue we were told "well you were getting a group discount anyway"! With extra pressure we got the price of the dish in question deducted from the bill, but this took some negotiating! I would say go to another Indian Restaurant.... but sadly there are none for miles around!

We ate here on 2 occasions whilst on holiday in the area, based on trip advisor reviews.Great authentic food, generous portions and good service. We ate from the meal deal menu - excellent value - £12.75 each for 4 courses served Sunday, Monday and Thursday. Also took our own wine.Glad we found this place. Highly recommended and would definitely eat here again if in the area.

We have been frequenting this restaurant for several years.I have yet to be disappointed!The menu offers a wide choice, to suit everyone.If you like your curries a little hotter, they are happy to oblige.The owner is usually present, assisting with the service. He is very friendly and accommodating.

One of the best Indians I've visited and the bonus is if you are eating in it is a BYO. Remember to order early or reserve a table at a weekend as it does get really busy. Try out the chefs specials for something special

It doesn't look much from the outside, nor in fact on the inside, but the Saffron has just produced two consecutive meals that are the best Indian meals my wife, daughter and I have eaten - ever - and we've had plenty before. It's great value too (and you can take alcohol with you, in fact you have to if you want it).The chicken is clearly freshly cooked - great big chunks of delicious tikka'd breast meat. We tried the Pathia (fantastic sweet and sour and good heat), Badami (with generous sprinkling of pistachios), Malaya (fresh bananas) and Makhani (deep, rich tomato sauce).Really very pleasantly surprised. It's a genuine shame we're on holiday and not local so can't visit regularly.

A bring your own booze restaurant. Excellent flavoured Indian food reasonably priced and really tasty. I wish I could try more of your dishes. I hope to return sometime

We ordered food for 7 on a wunday night. The resteraunt was packed however service was good and the food was very tasty. Good size portions, plenty of spice.

The Restaurant Manager was very willing to spend time with us, helping with our choices from the menu. The food was superb. The value was reasonable. It's a shame they choose not to have a licence - we had to take our own bottle of wine - but, other than that, I can only thank the Saffron for providing us with an all round very pleasant experience.

We have had several takeaways from here and while the food is nice I do find that it lacks heat. The medium heat items on the menu are what would be low heat at most other places. I'm not looking for a ridiculous bravado burning hot curry but the heat is often from simply adding some whole chillies so the sauce is not spicy but then you have a whole chilli in it and that's what makes it "hot" on the menu. Also I wouldn't recommend having a lamb curry as several times i have tried it and the meat was gristly and chewy spoiling the meal. The chicken is always cooked perfectly however.

This Indian is first class friendly service and great food. You cant go wrong with eating in or a takeaway

This is our local Indian and we visit at least once a month, I haven't done a review for ages for here it is: for New Year's Eve. The place was buzzing - very, very busy and a great atmosphere. Popadums and dips were fab as always. Starters were varied and shared - all excellent with a garlic naan on the side. Our main courses and 'bits on the side' were so varied I can't list them all but no complaints from anyone and empty plates all round :) We were so stuffed we couldn't even think about puds. Fantastic, friendly & helpful service as always. Add to this the value from being able to take your own wine & beer and you get the picture. Five stars all round.

Excellent tasty food at a great price, my wife and I ate here in the evening on Wednesday December 23rd. We had as a starter stuffed peppers and onion bhajee which was accompanied by the usual dips and some salad. I then had a Chicken Tikka Rogan Josh and my wife had a Navtratna Korma both served with Arabian Pilau Rice.This was then followed by a fabulous tasty desert of mango sorbert which was served in a mango half skin. Service and food both first class, would recomend to anyone visiting Knighton. Please note that this restaurant does not serve alcohol but you can take your own, our meal with drinks which was 3 courses cost a mere £34. There is also a meal deal available for £11.95 on Sun/Wed/Thurs which is Popadum, Any Starter, any main, any nan bread or rice and any coffee.

The food is very good and fresh, the place itself is basic but in such a cozy little town, where choices are limited, it's a blessing to come across a quality Indian restaurant, no matter how basic. Not to mention, value for money. We liked it so much that we visited the place twice during our stay, in a lodge, 12 miles away.

We visited Shropshire for a week and fancied an Indian on our last night. I looked up the reviews of local Indians and this one stood out. We weren't disappointed as the food was amazing. We were a table of ten and most of us had the £11.95 deal which was well worth the money. Three of our table said this was the best Indian they'd ever had and we have had a lot of Indians. The decor isn't the greatest but the food is quality. It's a shame we don't live nearby. Thank you Saffron.

We had a curry from Saffron this week as we were staying at Black Hall lodges.My wife and I both agreed that it was one of the nicest curries we had ever had.I had lamb tikka bhuna and it was 1st class.Will definitely be back

We used this restaurant for a takeaway and the service and food was very nice. was ready in about 10 mins.

I went with my family all 14,of us it was no trouble they soon had tables joined and very fast ordered the meal very tasty,and plenty of it also you can take your own drinks in which is a added bonus

Agree with Chris H - Jalfrezi was worse by far I've had. Lamb was hardly cooked and hard to find. (I should say that my wife was happier with her choice but would only raise it to average). Service was disinterested, manger/owner was obsessed with a couple who were clearly regulars - although even they were saying their last visit had been disappointing.Positive: Good range of soft drinks and good pickles with the poppadoms.

As a couple living in the Midlands, we're spoilt for choice when it comes to local Indian restaurants and we can afford to be pretty choosy when it comes to eating out. Experience tells us that having a meal in one for the first time, especially one that is a little bit off the map for us, can often be disappointing and usually fails to even come close to our regular, favourite curry house so it was with a degree of trepidation, during a recent stay with relatives living in the locality, that we visited Saffron.First impressions were good, with friendly staff making us welcome and seating us in the restaurant. As has been mentioned by others, it isn't licensed but the small inconvenience of taking your own alcohol is far outweighed by the opportunity to drink exactly what you want and with much less expense. The menu has a great selection of dishes at very good prices and when placing your order you're welcome to ask for the dishes to be adjusted to taste. Papadums arrived fresh and crisp, and all of our starters and main courses that followed were all hot, tasty and served quickly. I was keen to try the Pathia as it is a particular favourite of mine that varies enormously depending on the restaurant, but here it was really tasty, one of the best I've had, and the level of spice that I asked for was perfect.We've since been back for a second time, tried some other dishes and again everything was spot on. A very good, no frills Indian restaurant with excellent food that I'm sure we'll be revisiting in the very near future.

If you're thinking of using this curry house, DON'T! The Jalfrazi was the worst by far I've ever had. The tub was half full of oil with huge pieces of onion and nothing much else.

We ate here after good reviews and we found it to be good quality and tasty curry. The ladies in the group had Korma and Korai and I had a jalfrezi. All currys were piping hot, and the meat was good quality. As previous reviews state, you take your own alcohol which keeps the price down. The surroundings are nothing fancy but the food is the most important thing after all. I would only say that my jalfrezi was fairly mild so if you like it hot you might want to stress that. Staff are polite and attentive. Would definitely eat here again.

What a refreshing change to find an Indian restaurant where the staff were incredibly helpful in helping me choose what to eat. Food and staff were fantastic, I will definitely be going back.

We eat in a lot of Indian Restaurants and this one is definitely our favourite, the staff are charming and friendly, nothing too much trouble, they are able to advise on best dishes to suits our tastes and explain what works best with what. Great to have it unlicensed so although the pricing is very reasonable it makes makes it great value for money, especially when you are a family of 5. My sister came with us this evening, and she was delighted with the vegetarian choices, we will of course be back soon!

We ate here on a Saturday night so it was pretty busy so the experience may be different on quieter evenings, but although the food was tasty enough (other than a Chicken Pathia which was much too sweet) the service left something to be desired. When we were shown to a table my wobbly chair was spotted by a waiter who took it away but he left me standing by my table for quite a few minutes until I eventually fetched my own chair from another table. Another waiter was unable to explain one of the dishes to us, and went to fetch another member of staff who did explain, but in rather a patronising manner I felt. Unfortunately, if you want a curry in the Knighton area, this restaurant is the only option available and possibly this has affected the attitude of the staff to customers. If I use this restaurant again I would rather have a takeaway as the atmosphere was not relaxed and waiter service inadequate.

This has got to be one of the best Indian restaurants around. We have dined many times with family & as a couple. The service & attention we are given is always friendly & welcoming. The food is faultless, always fresh, spicy & plenty of it. The restaurant is not licensed so you are welcome to take your own alcohol which makes the bill at the end of the meal incredibly good value.I rate Saffron as one of my favourite places to dine.

My sister and I ate here when staying in Knighton after being recommended it by the people where we were staying. The service was great and we were engaged in conversation about where we were from and why we were visiting Knighton. Wide ranging menu, freshly made food and very tasty. Would recommended to anyone visiting Knighton and would go again if ever in the area.

Last minute decision to have a family Indian takeaway and Saffron didn't disappoint! The tandoori chicken was perfect and the Dansak was delicious! Kids really enjoyed it all too. We will use this place again for sure!

Friendly staff. Cracking food. The chicken dansak is 1 of the best I've ever had. Full of flavour and spice. Can highly recommend this establishment. For such a small Welsh town. Don't drive threw without paying these guys a visit. I'll give this 5* all day long !!

We go at least once a month with friends. It's not a plush place but it is welcoming and comfortable enough. The food is consistent, reliably good and well cooked, with a good range of dishes providing a variety of different flavours - it doesn't all taste the same! The staff are very friendly and helpful if you need advice on particular dishes. They dropped having a licence some years back and you do need to take your own beer or wine etc, for which they provide glasses. If you don't have any drinks with you, it's easy to nip into a nearby store and buy some. Oh, by the way, it's great value for money. All in all a great place for a curry.

Being a brummie, I like to think I know a thing or two about curries. My husband took me to Saffron last night for my birthday while we stayed in the nearby Black Hall Lodges. The food here is amazing, I have never had a nicer shami kebab or chicken pathia. Best one ever! Real value for money aswell, 4 courses for £11.95 each. If we are ever in the area again, we would definitely go again.

Friendly enough and extensive menu but no alcohol. You can bring your own which is fine if you know that beforehand. Food was OK - good starter but not that impressed with main. Tasteless if i am honest. Just visiting so unlikely to return.

We are newbies to the area so this was our very first visit to our local indian restaurant. Now, this isn't a plush 5* fusion restaurant, and it isn't licenced for alcohol, but go bearing those things in mind and you won't be disappointed. The service was excellent, warm and welcoming. We went as a family and I felt my 2 daughters were included, their orders for food were taken from them, not us, and they were spoken to like proper people (children are often ignored in restaurants I find). We had a selection of starters, all of which were very generous, and I had to share some of mine because had I finished it I would have been very nearly full. The starters were steaming hot, freshly prepared and lovely. For mains we ordered 2 meat bhunas, 1 chicken bhuna and 1 garlic & chilli chicken with various rices etc. All of the food was freshly prepared and promptly served. We were all delighted with our curries, ate rather too much and can't wait to return. We will not be going back to Kidderminster for a curry! We will become regulars!!

THE best Indian for miles!Meals are great here, we live locally and often have a take away. It's not quite as good as when you sit in but still amazing.

We are always keen to try curry houses in the area, but this want beats everyone else hands down! The food is delicious, the staff are always happy to advise on flavours and make recommendations based on your own personal taste. The prices are extremely reasonable too, The Naylor family love it!

Have been eating here for years, food and service can't be beaten. I moved to Birmingham 4 years ago and am yet to find an Indian I prefer, I love coming back and visiting saffron! You can take your own alcohol too which makes it great value!
