Living literally 2 minutes down the road to Sadler's is a dangerous experience in that I have bought countless slices of cake especially over the last couple of years... I know a good slice when I see it. The banana and chocolate loaf is my favourite although the Dutch Apple Cake is also a close second. Also, their pasties and baked bread get the thumbs up too. What I love the most is that they have continued to offer takeaway from the door too, as someone who had to shield previously, I don't always feel comfortable popping in to places still in indoor settings, so it means I can still buy a treat and continue to enjoy their food now that they have reopened the cafe area inside. Pre-covid however, I used to enjoy periodically going down and sitting in the cafe with my book in hand, so if you are looking for a quirky nice place to have a cake and a coffee in Faringdon, I would highly recommend popping in.

Having sampled sadlers pasties and cakes, as well as their Saturday take outs, we decided to use sadlers to cater for our son’s Christening. The booking process was simple and they offered us several different menus with a wide variety of options on each, with the opportunity to personalise existing menus. Paul and Sietske were also very helpful lending us a bottle opener and cake knife on the day, which we’d forgotten to bring. The food was varied, delicious, well presented and colourful. We had numerous complements from our guests on how good the food was with some saying it was better than weddings they’ve been too. Even though we had a few people unable to attend due to sickness, there were barely any leftovers. All in all we were extremely pleased and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend sadlers to anyone.

A lovely spot in the courtyard & yummy cake. The lady at the desk happy helpful and cheery. I was quiet disappointed to have our tea arrive in takeaway cups and cake on a paper plate with a wooden fork. Not only does this feel cheap and lazy (sorry!) it really changes the flavour of the tea and the cafe experience. Until this changes I will be using the other local cafe in the town. It would have been lovely if the lady delivering the coffee showed any form of personality and service skills, maybe she was just having a hard day bless her. Looking forward to cups and plates and we’d love to bring our family and friends here.

What a treat to stop off here part way through a cycle ride and be able to pick up a great cappuccino and a generous portion of Mocha cake. Coffee was really strong and way better than the chains. Shame we don't live nearer to take advantage of the take out dining. Intend to return when things are fully open.

We were staying next door at the Old Coaching Inn and decided to call in to Saddlers for breakfast. We were very disappointed that the breakfast was £9.95 and didn't even include tea or coffee. The breakfast itself was very basic and the sausages were undercooked. It is a pretty little cafe with lots of ornaments, but to be fair the breakfast let it down.

We mis-timed looking for Sunday lunch in darkest West Oxfordshire. It appears 20th Century dining habits still prevail this far from Hoxton. Sorry kitchen closed, no food till this evening is the local mantra. We had just given up and were heading for Faringdon's convenience store when the true nature of this truly eccentric building dawned on us. The greeting was cheerful, the menu very European and the coffee well brewed. We experimented and thoroughly enjoyed the food. The "black" sausage was a total treat, definitely not recommended for those who think milk comes out of a fridge!Thoroughly recommended but the 1645 building date and Grade 2 building preservation rules make this a difficult building for mobility impaired persons, sorry.

We were having an afternoon stroll around Faringdon and stumbled across this little gem of a place. The staff are very attentive and welcoming, even lighting the log burner for us to make it even more cosy. They have a great selection of teas and coffees, we opted for a lot of tea for 2. The menu was very quirky with some great information about the history of the building. We chose a Chacauserie platter for 2, this includes a fantastic selection of salamie, homemade breads, olives, roasted peppers and chutney to die for.

On a drive to Oxford, I pulled off to follow the signs to 'historic town centre' and so glad I did! Found this amazing building bulging out onto the sidewalk, clearly a very old building. Turns out this little place has been serving people since 1645!! The creaky interior now serves as a coffee shop/lunch spot/catering business. It's a family-run business and they offer amazing cakes, including two fabulous gluten-free cakes made with almond flour. A cardamon cake and a Tunisian orange almond cake, which are delicious and moist. Also, the authentic Dutch apple pie is absolutely incredible. The lovely owner is more than happy to tell you all about the history of the building and what it's like to live in a 'living, breathing building'. If you find yourself in the area, make a stop there, it's a unique experience!

Head upstairs and get a table by the window. Food is reasonably priced, good quality, fast service. A great little cafe in the heart of Faringdon. They have a small but very tasty cafe menu and also provide restaurant style catering. I've been there a couple of times during the day and enjoyed the comfy sofas and the superb scrambled eggs (the only place I've so far found in the UK that does them properly). They don't yet know what a Flat White is so one star lost for not serving the best form of coffee. Probably the most interesting cafe in Faringdon and definitely worth a visit.

It being a lovely day my sister and I visited Faringdon, where we both spent our teenage years, many moons ago.Saddlers now incorporates the cafe where we spent time as teenagers and we came for lunch. I had the pancakes with goats cheese and read peppers, which was extremely tasty, if a little salty for my taste, and my sister, the croissant with scrambled egg and smoked salmon. Both meals were well presented and hot and we were surprised the cafe wasn't busier. The only problem was the loo. It is up a narrow spiral staircase which I was reluctant to attempt having knee problems. For this reason alone I give it only " very good".

My wife and I had used Sadlers during the daytime for snacks, sandwiches, soups etc but it is only recently that they have opened for evening meals. So on Friday 6th we booked a table and arrived to be greeted and seated overlooking the market square in Faringdon. Instead of going direct to your seat as we did you can enjoy drinks on the side of the restaurant in sofas and setees prior to getting to your table. We ordered a very nice Pinot Grigio bottle for drink at about £17 and to eat for starters my wife had the Pointed Roasted Red Peppers with Mascarpone and Smoked Pancetta and I had the Wild Mushroom and Spinach Soup. Both were very good and half way through we swapped dishes and agreed that both were equally good. For main course my wifhe chose the Pork and Leek Sausages with Orange Pepper Sauerkraut with Mash and I ordered the Durban Bobootie and lamb bunnychow. My wifes only complaint was that there were too many sausages all of which were excellent I know as I finished one of them for her.My main course whilst unusual in name was an excellent combination of tastes from South Africa which were chicken based and lamb curry as the name suggests. Included in the meal were complimentary salad which contained sun dried tomatoes and various leaf salad and also complimentary was the Garlic Flatbread again both very nice and a nice addition to our feast. Finally we took the plunge and for dessert my wife ordered the Apricot Tart with real clotted cream and I ordered the Creme Brulee. Mine being a very rich dessert but undeniably good and my wife was waxing lyrical about her dessert even after we left the restaurant. All in all a great time and very very good food and service and well worth another visit.
