¡Disfrutar!

The restaurant was quiet and the decor quirky. We had a selection of dishes from the menu which when arrived were beautifully presented and tasted even better than it looked. From looking at previous reviews and pictures I had already decided I was having a meat dish and i was not disappointed. The serving staff were extremely attentive and often popped over just to top up our wine glasses from the bottle on the table. Food was plentiful and the wine we ordered was very palatable.

Me and my friend are Thai addicts. We went here because it was close to where we had been watching the six nations rugby. We didn’t make a reservation and just arrived on a Saturday night to polite and efficient staff. We didn’t have to wait long for our food at all. I would recommend the sharing platter for £7.95pp for starter and panang curry for mains - both the personal highlights out of the dishes ordered. Great little Thai.

This fantastic Thai restaurant is located on Aberdeen’s main road, Union Street, about 5 minutes away from the city centre and well worth a walk. Service and food presentation was exceptional. The decor is upmarket for Thai in the UK and the menu comprehensive with reasonable pricing. The beverage list is limited but of a good range. Three of us enjoyed multiple appetizers with a main of Weeping Tiger - they were all excellent, served on a heater; which kept the dishes at a nice temp whilst we all enjoyed the evening. It was our last night in Aberdeen otherwise we would return, definitely one of the best Thai restaurants in the UK and as good as anything in Thailand itself, which we have frequented on many occasions.

Not really in an aquarium, but they have a rather special decor consisting of water panels with bubble streams and changing back-lighting which was most interesting. The food was excellent, the drinks menu was perfectly adequate, but the service was unusually fast. A little too fast actually, as we hardly had time to taste our pre-meal drinks before the food was on the table. Still, better a little too quick that too slow. Recommended!

Had a booking here last Saturday night and we were really looking forward to it. The service from all the staff was good - attentive and pleasant. The free prawn crackers given whilst you choose drinks were really vile - stale, hard and tasteless. Annoying that in a good Thai restaurant, you don't get offered authentic Thai crackers as standard. Just detail but makes the difference. Anyway ordered them along with chargrilled prawns on skewers for starters. (Goon Yang) Both tasty. My main was Gai Phad Med Mamuang - stir fried chicken with an array of tasty veg and served with coconut steamed rice - not inexpensive but very good food. My husband wasn't so lucky, his Beef noodle dish (Guay Tew Phad See Eew) was surprisingly bland except for a strong aniseed flavour, which overwhelmed the dish. Even the noodles were slimey and slippery. So, for us it was a mixed result and I doubt we'd be back.

Definitely a place to go if you are into Thai food. We had steamed fish, tomyam soup, green curry, roasted duck, fried pineapple rice etc. We actually came by twice to dine at this place as it reminds us of food close back home. I may be biased to say that service was good because we dine pretty late, arriving at Sabai around 9pm in that 2 occasion. The waitresses & waiter were absolutely attentive & even my picky little one gobbled up her food without fuss. Tip - if you are afraid of spicy, do ask if they can reduce the spiciness because we did & they did that for us, as our kids are not used to spicy food. The restaurant is clean & the environment setting is very calming. I found this gem in 2015 on my own & the first thing when I arrived in Aberdeen in 2017, this was the first place I brought my family to dine & I wasn't disappointed (yet).

The waitress forgot a couple of main courses from our order and the dishes that were delivered were luke warm and had to be returned. We do like Thai food - personally I cannot stand spicy but you can easily find something nice and not spicy to eat. We went to Sabai for the first time this past weekend, to meet friends etc. We've booked our table for 2000 and indeed the table was ready and we were sat immediately upon our arrival. The place was packed! When the whole party arrived, we had to wait for at least 10-15 minutes for our orders to be taken. And this is when it all started. One of the cocktails did not make it to our table at all - cannot remember if we were charged for it...After the starters the waitress took all our plates etc. and within 10 minutes she brought the bill and the warm napkins. Yes! As you can imagine, the main course did not make it to the table either. OK I understand that Aberdeen is going through a rough time, but come on we do have some money to spend on a Saturday night dinner!! When the misunderstanding/confusion was cleared up, we had to wait an extra 30 minutes for our food to arrive - so we were waiting for our food for more than an hour...And they did not even say sorry, they did not even give us a free drink, they did not even blink their eyes...If it was only me and my partner - I would not have left a tip...but hey ho!All in all the experience was OK - the food was delicious but the fact that we had to wait for so long, made me think that I might not go there soon...

Was out for an early Saturday night dinner and ended up at Sabai on Union Street, Aberdeen. Service was warm & welcoming with little other guests in the restaurant due to being early in the evening. Menu is comprehensive with some Chinese dishes available as they do in the UK even down to the rice crackers on the table when first seated. For starters had the Hoy Mang Poo - Mussels fried with lemongrass, sweet basil & chillies served with a lime & chill sauce. It was delicious with a good number of mussels in the dish, the broth was delicious. Mains I had the Ped Ma Kharm - Roast Duck topped with a Thai tamarind Sauce garnished with crispy shallots & Thai dried chillies. Some wonderful flavours with delicious roasted duck though a little on the sweet side. Only negative was the bubbling wall features throughout the restaurant which to me became a little annoying after sometime. which Had a nice meal & definitely would come back again. First of all, this review will be prefaced with an introduction that my experience is from having the dishes taken out, we didn't dine in. Therefore, I couldn't comment on the decor or on the customer service. However, the review on the dishes would be genuinely unbiased and objective. This is our first time visit to Sabai, as I had heard about this restaurant from my colleague couple years ago. I have always gone for the other Thai Restaurant in the same area and thought to myself to try out something new. This is how I was brought to Sabai. The dishes we bought and took out were Kra Praw beef, Garlic Chicken, Moo Ping and some drinks. My boyfriend's Garlic Chicken is very soy sauced, both us couldn't taste the hint of garlic, unfortunately and sadly. Kra Praw is my all time favourite in Thailand and in several restaurants in Aberdeen, but the Kra Praw beef I ordered from Sabai has nothing relevant to the flavour of Kra Praw. Safe to say that both Garlic Chicken and Kra Praw Beef tasted very similar, with Kra Praw a bit of more chilly in it. The price is quite high, as it's restaurant price, but the value didn't come up to that. I appreciate the freshness of the vegetables and salad- they are really fresh and clean, but the meats are chewy and are thinly sliced. Due to its shape, the dishes look like the paper meat absorbed and drawn in the soy sauce. Both my boyfriend and myself were let down by this our first experience with Sabai, and we decide to stick to our old BhanThai from now on.

We went to Sabai for a meal with friends 14/01/17 and will NEVER be back. Two of the starter were still frozen and the missels the served were so over cooked that my friend could not eat them. The waitress apologised and we received a drink each. One of my friends ordered steak and the waiter came out and asked who ordered the pork. We advised we ordered steak and he replied yes pork steak! The final straw was when one of the main courses had frozen prawns in it. The waitress (who was lovely) asked her manager to cover over but was told no, after 30 minutes we had to go up to the bar to speak to the manager who was awful to deal with and then shouted at the waitress in front of the customers. We then realised that more tables had the same issues. We paid for the wine we had and left. On leaving we were stopped by one of there delivery drivers who said that this was a common occurance and he gets food sent back to the shop all the time. I have never complained about a meal before but there was no way we could have eaten the good served.

When you then read out the order, and point out what items are missing, they eventually accept it...but the only offer is next time you place an order they'll give one of the items for free. That's not exactly great, but when they go on to do it again you have to accept they're just not bothered.Shame, as otherwise it'd be a good option

Arrived at 7.20 and seating was a bit haphazard. Lots of Deliveroo drivers seemed to be blocking things. Seated and not even offered drinks. Took nearly 10 minutes and then came reasonably quickly just after friends arrived but initially didn't even offer them drinks - seemed a bit odd. With chatting didn't notice but took best part of 30 minutes to take our order. Menu looked nice with good choices.Again chatting and initially didn't notice but realised 9pm and we still had no food. Friend complained and was told busy with takeaway orders - decide on your priorities. Starters then arrived almost instantly and were a bit tepid - questioning were they just sitting ready but forgotten. I had pork which was tender enough but no texture or distinct flavour and dipping sauce was overly strong with fish sauce. For main I had chicken which for information was on the bone and chopped at random, which is typical of Asia but not everyone's choice and I would say worth mentioning. It was a huge portion but dipping sauce had suggested it should have more distinct flavours but tasted almost the same as the starter dipping sauce, again principally fish sauce. Sides were fine.We have traveled around Thailand and it was just a bit bland in comparison but overall the main issue was the service.

Wait ten minutes before drinks order taken which was fair enough as it was busy, but honestly not enough staff to service the amount of people. After 25 minutes, still no food order taken, and we had noticed other people that came in after us were getting food, we had been forgotten ! 30 minutes after getting seated, we basically tripped up a waitress and asked if we could order ! I celebrated my wife's 30th birthday in Sabai Thai. From the moment of entering the restaurant, you are greeted with a 5 Star welcome & the service is fantastic & genuine. Having worked in Thailand, I have to say that the food is as good as from the country itself with a wide variety of options..Personal favourites would be the Red Thai Curry & The sea bass..You are missing out if you have not yet been.

This Thai restaurant absolutely deserves 5***** for food, service and value. My partner and I dined here 3 times. Always perfect! All dishes were cooked to perfection. Very very tasty. The portion was good (I have been in some other Thai restaurants in Scotland and found that the portion was really small for the price although the food was good), the service was excellent. We would highly recommend this place and will definitely dine here whenever we are in Aberdeen.

My partner and a friend of mine had a reservation on a Saturday night, which is of course extremely busy. After waiting 1 hour and 15 minutes for our main which still had not arrived, I complained to the manager, who was extremely unapologetic and rude. She said that they had big tables they needed to wait on and our food would be out in 15 minutes. I said that was totally unacceptable, but there was a shrug of the shoulders and a weak 'sorry' that came from her. When the food arrived, although delicious, was luke warm and the attitude of the manager really put a damper on the night. Won't be back.

Ordered starter, vegetarian noodle dish and side dish. Very disappointed with quality, presentation and the fact that vegetarian dish contained prawns. The starter for 2 was fried to death. I would have been better buying from supermarket. Terrible value at £29.95

Sabai is my favourite restaurant. I have taken numerous people here and they have fallen in love with it. The service is better than excellent! They have a way of knowing you need something and coming over without hanging around and bothering you. The food is delicious ! I almost always have Phad Thai noodles with tofu. Couldn't recommend it enough.

Eaten at Sabai a few times. The venue itself is initially a bit bizzare but memorable with lights and rather absorbing fish tanks. The menu and food is beautiful tasty and well balanced. The presentation is beautiful and portions are generous. The staff are friendly but when we were there insisted in pouring the wine for us which was slightly annoying but all in all its consistently good.

Visited the restaurant a week ago and must say we were very pleased with the service and surroundings. The menu was quite daunting as there was so much to choose from but if you're familiar with Thai food then I'm sure you're be fine.We opted for the shared starter which was a variety of different tastes and was excellent. My main course was a jungle curry which was hot but was very good. The wine was European but the beer was Thai.(both very good)I would recommend this restaurant and will certainly be going back again soon.

I went here after walking past then looking up on trip advisor. I was in Aberdeen on business and dining by myself the first night. After seeing a good rating on here I decided to dine here. Wine was well priced and I had a chicken stir fry with fresh chillies, ginger and garlic. It was lovely and fresh. Enjoyed it enough to take a work colleague the next night again. Service was really good, if you asked the waiter for anything they immediately stopped what they were doing and tended to you. Would recommend.

The Wife and I ordered Sabai via one delivery.co.uk. The order you can track via a GPS system that allows you to see where the driver is with your order, pretty fancy but very accurate. I heard good things about Sabai and it did not disappoint, the food was absolutely scrummy, hot, vibrant and it tasted as though you were in the restaurant. I would definitely go into the restaurant or do the same service as I've done...

Now my favourite restaurant in Aberdeen, Sabai ticks all the boxes from easy online reservation, smiley welcome with clasped hands, comfortable seat at bar and a drink whilst I awaited my guests. The food I could rave about all day here but suffice to say its the most delicious outside of Thailand itself. Service is prompt and courteous. Wine selection first class. Only one constructive point if I may indulge my spicey chilli addiction..... Can I have some 3chilli dishes added to the menu please? 2chilli just didnt quite do it in our curries Or maybe ask the customers "how hot you like green curry sir"

Sabai being one of our daughter's favourite eateries in Aberdeen, we took her and her fiancé there for her birthday on a Saturday evening. The restaurant was buzzing. We were shown to our table, given menus and we ordered our drinks, and set about choosing what we’d eat. We love Thai food, and had studied the menu before we arrived, as I often do! After some time, another waitress asked if we wanted to order drinks and we explained we'd already ordered. Since they hadn't arrived she said she'd take the order again. These drinks did eventually arrive, and the waitress stressed the barman was coping alone. (We did discuss that we must check the bill at the end, to ensure we weren't charged for both drink orders - more of that later). There seemed quite a muddle about who was doing what as regards taking our food order, etc, etc, too. Someone approached with pad, and as we were about to speak, suddenly went off again. Eventually we managed to order our food. The great starters arrived fairly quickly – My husband and I chose the Chicken Satay Skewers at £6.95, our daughter opted for the Deep fried Tiger Prawns at £8.25, and her fiancé the Grilled Squid at £8.95. My daughter and I swapped half a Satay and half a Prawn starter. These were all delicious. For main courses I chose Stir Fried Crispy Chicken dish at £11.95, my husband had Char-grilled Flattened Chicken at £13.95, and the other two had a Panang Chicken Curry at £11.95 and a Crispy Sea bass at £18.95. (Do look at the Sabai menu for details of all these dishes, as there is a lot more to them than the names suggest. We ordered two Coconut Rices at £3.95 each and a Noodle dish at £3.50. Only one rice arrived, so there was a bit of a wait for that second one to come. The rice is a very small portion for the price.I think because we'd eaten quite quickly, and maybe wanted to linger a bit longer, being a special occasion, we ordered desserts. That is the only thing which let the meal down in a big way - the ‘ready-made freezer to plate’ sweets. I was rather unimpressed with my dessert which was a bit like Arctic Roll, with some syrup and tiny nibs of toffee on it. Our daughter and her fiancé shared a frozen lemon filled with ice cream and my husband chose the Thai Pancakes, which were very stodgy and pretty tasteless to say the least. This lot added £18-£20 to the bill. Wished we’d gone home for birthday cake. The starters and main course food was terrific - couldn't fault it at all. Everything was very tasty, and especially the main course dishes were generous portions. I would definitely return, but I certainly wouldn't partake of the disappointing and pricey desserts again, that's for sure. Now to our bill - as we had predicted, it arrived with two drinks orders included. I shall give them the benefit of the doubt and say that was an error, because of how disorganised they were in taking the order, then insisting on retaking it when we hadn't received the initial drinks order, without finding out what had happened at their end. However, had we not checked the various almost illegible dockets they presented us with, then mentioned the fact there had been duplication, and queried the totals, we might have paid £40-£45 more than we should have. Be aware of this kind of issue. As it was, with 2 large beers, a small beer, an orange juice and a bottle of white wine our bill came to quite a hefty £158.60, (about £41 being for drinks, and about £18 being for desserts). I would go again, but for the excellent savoury food, and I’d miss out the pricey drinks and 'not worth it' desserts. Do visit, but stick with the really excellent value main courses, I’d say.

When you have proper Thai food you feel it is fresh and good quality food. This is greasy slop. Admittedly I was boring and had the red curry which was swimming in oil as were all the other dishes that came out. Its like they deep fried the paste and chucked some tough minute steak in at the last second. I was disappointed in the sticky rice. It felt like it was some packet stuff that had been glued together artificially. The jasmine rice was the only thing that felt it was cooked fresh. And at almost £4! Joke. I had the Tom Yum soup which tasted ok but was just watery. They just threw in some raw mushroom as garnish. Come on like.Perhaps they are catering to the local palate which just wants salty fatty food in between lagers but this if this what Thai restaurants have to offer, I will just make it at home for quarter of the price and 4 times the quality.

Absolutely delicious meal here last week with my family. I started with the pork skewers and then had the lamb massaman curry as a main. I would highly recommend both dishes. Fergus and his team were extremely attentive and the whole experience was such a treat after the long lockdown.
