My husband and I plus our two dogs were made very welcome at this cosy cafe. We ordered prawn sandwiches which were very impressive with a huge side salad and lots of filling. Tea and a cappuccino were very much enjoyed. Service was friendly and quick.

Wow, this quirky cafe on silver street is one of the best cafes in Whitby. Tea for two came in an enormous teapot, with china cups and saucers, real tea too, tasted just like my gran used to make. Old fashioned recycled furniture looks great. And the food is gorgeous, veggie choices were great, coronation chickpea, with warm beetroot and halloumi delicious 😋 Good value for money and family run, so lovely to see Would recommend and revisit. I've just eaten the best wrap EVER!!!!!! It was a falafel wrap with mango chutney, coronation chickpeas and mint yoghurt with a sweet chilli dip....delicious. Everything was fresh and so tasty and the wrap was packed full. You simply must try this. I also tried, for the first time, a pistachio and marzipan tea and this too was superb, if you like pistachios and marzipan as much as me. My friend's had the bacon and brie on toast and the smashed avocado on toast and both loved them. The service was great and the interior of the cafe was like a old fashioned eclectic teashop with miss-matched teacups etc. A great place.

This is a superb cafe for a late breakfast! I arrived around 11am and was seated quickly and had an amazing cup of tea while waiting on breakfast. While I will say the service was a bit slow and hit or miss, I can understand it as they seemed understaffed. However, this was easily forgivable considering the amazing food that was served to me. Everything was full of flavor! I highly reccomened this restaurant!

6 of us decided to just pop in to this little back street cafe restaurant. Lovely little courtyard area and plenty of inside seating. Cakes were delicious and sandwiches top-notch. We also had the sea food chowder, which was lovely and packed with all sorts of fish. And home made tomatoe soup and fresh bread. Only down side was it took 30 minutes to serve all 6 of us, and items came out one at a time so the hot food would have been cold if we hadn't eaten it straight away and wait for everyone to get their items. Drinks are reasonable, and prices are good. I think the staff were a little over run as it was reasonably busy. Would go back but perhaps only when it was a little quieter.

The falafel wrap with salad was just gorgeous. I'm rubbish at remembering to leave reviews so the fact I'm typing this says how good our lunch was last Saturday. The salad was beautiful and not just a throw on the side forgettable thing. Dressing was so good I had to ask what was in it! All round great lunch in a hidden away spot with quirky furnishings and friendly accommodating staff. Not having visited Whitby in years I was grateful to find this gem of a place with its little sunny courtyard and lovely inside space. Note to anyone hating crowds - weekend's are v busy around the harbour in Whitby and going up to the Abbey. Get there early to park. Would return happily just to eat here again. Yum.

The place is like the Tardis. You go through a small gate into a courtyard and through a small door and find yourself in a very quirky tearoom with three rooms and for fine weather a large outdoor area. Fantastic food and atmosphere. Good coffee. Friendly staff. Pitty I didn't take pictures. Well worth a visit. I would suggest booking as it gets very busy and rightly so. A Google search of 'best breakfast places in Whitby' Rusty Shears came up close to the top, and the photos helped us make our choice. We were lucky to be seated quite quickly, and both chose the full English breakfast, and spoilt for choice for hot drinks. Really nice atmosphere, I enjoyed the black pudding, which I usually avoid. Its the kind of place I could sit for hours trying out different teas and enjoying the local company. We didn't eat the cakes, however they looked amazing and a good reason to visit again on our next trip to Whitby.

Lovely little place, tucked away in a quiet side street. The food was absolutely delicious. My partner and I shared the breakfast board, and it was fabulous. I also had the granola one day - which was so good, and covered with berries. And possibly the greatest scrambled eggs of my life on another day. The staff were lovely and friendly, and inside there's a relaxed calm. Sadly, I didn't get to try any of the tempting looking cakes, as I was too full. Next time, Rusty Shears, next time.

Me and my heavily pregnant partner decided to try and visit here yesterday for a light bite, after having seen the reviews online. We hadn’t made a reservation so just thought we’d pop in and see if they had anything available. We stood in the main entrance waiting to be seen to. There were 3 members of staff within a few feet of us, they’d looked directly at us, clearly seeing my partner being heavily pregnant and didn’t even acknowledge us. One member of staff was leant against one of the units the entire time, literally point blank in front of us, but still did not acknowledge us. I understand places get busy, but it was the absolute ignorance of the staff that caused us to give up and turn around out of the place in the end. Not the kind of welcome we’d expected having seen the reviews.
