Rustique in Richmondshire

Love this place. Been coming for years. But, ladies please give the ladies and gents a good clean ! No attention paid to the whole of the bathroom facilities. The cleaning let’s the place down. Food and service fabulous.

This is a great restaurant for a celebration meal. Interesting menu choices. Friendly attentive service, without being too fussy. Excellent quality food. I’m glad we booked in advance. Our second visit, taking family this time for an Anniversary meal. The meal was appreciated by all.

A hidden gem tucked behind a row of shops just off the main square in Richmond, this French bistro offered a great selection on their al a carte menu and also a 2 course for £18.95 which we both went for. The food, served by the attentive and friendly staff was fantastic. We were served quickly but never felt pushed, in fact quite the opposite. On a cold Tuesday in March this friendly place was a lovely place to spend a few hours eating and chatting in a relaxing atmosphere. One thing I would say though, if you are going here I would recommend you book to avoid disappointment. Would we go again...100% yes.

We ate here during our stay in Richmond and were so impressed that we cancelled our booking elsewhere for the following evening and came again! Lovely little place with a great atmosphere and decor and lovely staff, but it’s the food that really matters and it’s great. The best French cooking is simple but full of flavour and Le Rustique have nailed it. Don’t visit Richmond without eating here!

This place is beautiful, it’s like being on Holliday, it was my first visit not booked by me but someone else in the party who had come along way. The staff were really nice and accommodating the food would have had 10 out of 10 it tasted great, but how can parts of your dish be piping hot whilst the meat stone cold, unfortunately my husband had the same dish as me and he never complains but on this occasion was really disapointed his meat was also cold. Good food worth the money dispite a cost of living crisis a treat, only afforded to us on special occasions, my friends birthday, she spent the last 30 mins in the bathroom before we left thought her chicken might be the reason. My husband then vanished followed by another friend for another 20 minutes. So far so good, I must be made of stronger stuff. Didn’t leave a tip, yes the food was tasty and the place lovely including the staff, I said it was like being on Holliday but didn’t expect deli belly. Sorry cold meat not good enough in a cost of living crisis, it’s dog eat dog out there only the best will survive.

As much as I enjoy a regular meal at this great restaurant. Please could I ask the cleaners, owners and staff to give the loo’s a good clean !!! No attention to detail. Please invest in a. Brush, cloth, mop and buscmety. Your loo lets the restaurant down !

One of our absolute favourite spots to visit. Great menu, great service and a wonderful venue that is thoughtfully designed and beautiful to sit in.

We just had an early tea/late lunch. I had fillet steak which was cooked to perfection and a great piece of meat. My partner had the duck, which was succulent and very tasty. Crème brulé and sticky toffee pudding for desert, both of which were delicious. I'd definitely go back if we are ever in the area again.

Food was good, service from one of the two waitresses was lackluster and poor. Lack of knowledge, forgetting the order for a cheese board. We eventually asked for the bill and left. The management will be able to determine to whom I refer.

Their menu features classic French dishes prepared with fresh, local ingredients, and the atmosphere is charming and vibrant. Whether you're looking for an evening with friends or a family gathering, it looks like a great choice. The service was excellent and fast.

We went there on Saturday for lunch. The service was good and professional but a little slow. The important thing: the food. The food was divine. You have a 2 or 3 course set menu, A la Carte and lunch menu. We chose the set menu. I had doup of the day, which was brocvoli and blue cheese. It was served with fresh baguette and was very tasty. Later I had salmon croquettes which were absolutely gorgeous when dipped in the tartar sauce. My pudding was creme brulee. God, it was good. Toilets are clean, and we paid £60 for a pair of wonderful lunches, including tea and coffee. I strongly recommend this place and will come again.

Had the set menu. Every morsel was fabulous and it was hard to choose. The service was exceptional and the vibe was good. I'd go again.

A friend and I went for an evening meal and a good natter. Staff were very pleasant, friendly, attentive when needed (not overbearing as can be in some places) and had good banter, made our evening out very enjoyable. The food was delicious, cooked to perfection. They have an excellent menu. They also had some really nice wines. I wholeheartedly recommend Rustique in Richmond, N Yorks and if opportunity comes around, I wouldn't hesitate in returning for another meal. Apparently there's a Rustique in York too.

A truly amazing foodie experience. There are so many restaurants to choose from in Richmond but a French one was on our to do list. The food was delicious. We even would do a 2 hour round trip to experience the food again. Staff were super busy but really friendly. Massive thumbs up and we will be back. Exceptional food.

My partner and I visited on 19th February and had the 2 course set meal. The steak was delicious and cooked to perfection, and the crème brûlée was incredible too. Lovely atmosphere and decoration, and the staff were great too. Can’t fault it!

A generally good meal at this rather quaint French restaurant. Nicely cooked steak, but chips a little underdone. The steak was priced at nearly £30, yet there was an additional charge of £2.50 for the accompanying sauce which felt a bit steep. My dessert was a very delicious lemon tart.

Having explored the restaurants in Richmond, we chose Rustique for Lisa's birthday meal and we are so glad we did. The restaurant is beautiful, the service is friendly and efficient, yet unobtrusive, the wine was excellent, and the food......!!! This restaurant provided some of the best food we've eaten out for quite some time. We both had the French Onion Soup (a personal favourite for both of us) and it did not disappoint - the flavours were perfectly balanced and the generous croutons were just right. For mains, Lisa had the duck breast and I had the Calve's Liver, both of which were absolutely delicious. The Liver was among the best I've ever had! Both dishes were served with a perfectly complementary selection of potato and vegetable - different on each dish. We finished with a shared board of French cheeses - served at the perfect temperature with rustic bread and a delicious home made onion chutney. Definitely our favourite Richmond restaurant!

We have previously eaten here before and enjoyed the food so we came back. We both ordered the two course special dishes. I ordered the calamari for a starter and my husband ordered the pate. My calamari was over cooked and rubbery. The pate was very nice. I had fish pie. This came with a side of salad leaves. The sauce was nice but some of the fish was again over cooked especially the prawns. The beef dish was good. I don’t understand why they serve a hot fish pie with salad leaves. Surely a side of vegetables is more appropriate. We did get a 10% discount for the over cooked calamari. Which was appreciated. Although maybe check the fish before serving in future .

First time going to Rustique today and what a lovely place! Had a starter & main from the set menu for lunch, along with a bottle of bubbles, the food the was piping hot, flavoursome, and perfect portion size. The waitress was very attentive & friendly. Sat in the courtyard area which is fabulously decorated with all things French!! Everywhere was perfectly clean…including the toilets, which for me is a representation of the cleanliness in other areas within a restaurant!! The set menu was excellent value for money. It’s also very doggy friendly 🐶 water bowls were provided also. All in all a perfect experience and will certainly be back, Thankyou to all the staff.

Lovely set lunch in this friendly restaurant. We were with friends and we all enjoyed our choices from the set menu. Recommended for a reasonably priced lunch.

We spotted this restaurant on a walk around RIchmond and booked in during our few days stay in the area. Dog friendly which was a bonus. Lovely courtyard and the staff were very friendly. There were locals in that clearly go a lot and you could see they loved the place. Good choice of options. We had snails, Camembert and spicy sausage dishes to start and then duck, lemon sole and steak as mains which we all enjoyed. Reasonably priced and a set menu as well which well priced. Definitely recommend if you’re in the area.

All round excellent experience. Great service, superb food and great value. The two course menu deal is amazing value at £17.95. The sea bass was beautifully cooked and all the flavours blended superbly. We were well looked after by Jill / Gill. Interesting wine menu too.

Rustique - always a must-go-to on our trips to Richmond, we were not disappointed last Wednesday evening. Again, we loved the ambience, the decor and delicious food. A special thank you to the only waitress on duty. There wasn’t an empty table throughout our time there and she did an amazing job, always with a smile.

Seated in the covered courtyard, that out door feeling in a comfortable area. Pleasant atmosphere. Service excellent by friendly cheerful staff. Many thanks for a lovely evening Mr Jenkins and guest.

Fantastic, I have been 3 times in the last week, one of our favourite places. 2 courses 17.95 or 3 courses for an extra £5, there is also a separate lunch menu and a separate evening menu if you don't want the 2/ 3 course menu. Service great, staff great, and food delicious, it's a nice place to go for a special occasion as the decor is pretty.

Table service left a lot to be desired about, eg attitude of the waitress left me feeling uncomfortable, honestly I wouldn’t want her representing my restaurant. I over heard the waitress saying charge them anywhere??? When we finally got the bill on looking at it we were over charged, which got corrected when I pointed it out. The steak wasn’t cooked as pre ordered. I think the service overall really does need to be looked at by the management. There was no front of house greeting which I would have expected for a restaurant in such a classy location. Sadly disappointed by this restaurant, I will not be taking my service there again.

Visited at 4 pm on a Saturday and it was very quiet. As we ate people were turned away with the staff saying they were fully booked. Our staff member was lovely and friendly. I had the sea bass and my wife had a chicken dish and were impressed by the quality. £63 for 2 mains and deserts 2 beers and a large wine. We will be back

The atmosphere is nice and cosy here. The sea bass fillet dish that one of us had was really good but the rest of us felt that the salmon croquettes were too big and a little dry. Service is a little slow but there are only 2 staff serving the whole restaurant, and although it isn’t a large restaurant they struggled a bit.

I'm not sure this place needs another review, but my wife and I so enjoyed eating here. We were on a 350-mile trip all the way up the A1 from Cambridge to Edinburgh and needed somewhere for lunch at the halfway point. We couldn't have chosen better! It's just a few miles off the A1, and although parking is NOT easy, it's way, WAY better than anything you'll find on the A1. I had a Croque Monsieur that probably contained close to the lethal amount of cheese and set me up for the week, whilst my wife had salmon fishcakes she described as the best she'd ever eaten. Since our usual holiday routine is "Head south through channel tunnel, Paris by lunchtime" not "Head north up A1, it's going to rain all week", the food here more than compensated for the poor weather. Overall, great food in a wonderful building. Only the slightly off-hand service let this place down, but perhaps that makes it all the more - dare I say it - Parisian?

Had a stunning dinner at this great restaurant. Fish of the day was lemon sole with caper butter with a boozy orange bread and butter pudding with a chocolate drizzle to finish. Just so good. Lovely crisp white wine to compliment. Husband had the chicken. Equally as good.

If your in Richmond either on holiday or on business then this really is a delightful little French restaurant, not overly expensive and the food is to die for , especially the homemade lemon cheesecake I sampled for dessert , waitress very smiley and attentive, would definitely go back there again 👍

AMAZING! I can’t believe I haven’t visited this gorgeous place until now! We chose to eat from the set menu which was very reasonably priced, they had a large wine list & a good variety of food considering it’s a set menu. From being seated to leaving we felt welcome, not rushed at all. We booked our table an hour before we were due to eat and they couldn’t have been more accommodating. I really can’t recommend this place enough, a beautiful hidden gem that I will be back to asap!

Our first visit but our relatives have been before. Just off the market square in Richmond (North Yorkshire). We were seated in the covered courtyard, and it was busy for the time we were there. Decorated with lots of French posters,paintings, etc, quirky but nice. Good menu choices and wine list. The garlic mushrooms were a popular choice, and I had cooked brie in bread crumb coating and small side salad, very nice. Main choices were chicken in white wine, beef bourguignion, and I had homemade salmon fishcakes with side salad and French fries. The fish cakes were delicious but a little dry by the 2nd one ( as I didn't eat the tartare sauce which came with them). Food was well cooked and good portion sizes (not too much). Tea and coffee followed.
