We went for my dads birthday tea. Great choice on the menu, from the normal steak pie etc to a whole Thai menu. Everything was very tasty and this restaurant is definitely worth a visit.

My husband and I have meant to try this pub for ages and went yesterday lunchtime (Saturday) looking forward to sampling the menu and enjoying sitting out in the beer garden. However when my husband tried to order a beer from the pumps at the bar, none was available apart from lager or cider, neither of which he drinks. No real ale, no 80 shilling, not even Guinness. So we left. My advice, unless you're teetotal, don't visit this pub!

In here yesterday for lunch with family members, food and service was perfect, plenty choice on menu. We used the smaller portion menu, perfect sized portions for lunch. One criticism though, my wife and I had a soda water to drink, how can anyone justify charging £3.70p for two soda waters, absolutely ridiculous price for a drink that would cost them approx 2 pence to produce, in fact most establishments charge nothing for soda water.

We had a lovely meal in the restaurant. We ate in the bar as we had our dog with us. It was a 2 course meal for £17, I had the Thai Green Chicken curry with sticky rice, and strawberry cheesecake with icecream for afters. My husband had the roast beef with all the trimmings and he had the pate and crackers for starter - all portions were large. The meals were amazing, and artfully decorated, well presented with the fruit and veg cut into flower shapes etc. Would definitely recommend this restaurant. Service with a smile.

Came here on last night of our holiday. It was the most expensive of our meals during the holiday, but definitely not the best. There were a few locals in the bar but no-one else in the restaurant apart from us. Despite this , the service was extremely slow. I think the waitress forgot we were there! The furnishings are quite old fashioned, especially the ladies toilets! The food was ok, but I Wouldn’t rush back.

Cold outside, but inside was warm and welcoming. We were greeted by a young waitress who was both friendly and efficient. The menu offered a good and varied choice, my spicy beef sizzler was a delight. Piping hot, spicy enough but not scarily so, the meat was beautifully seasoned, my chips crisp and fluffy inside. My partners chicken and garlic butter looked lovely and was also enjoyed. A lovely meal

My wife and I dropped in for lunch last week and we could not be more satisfied with this unassuming little roadside inn. The young staff greeted us in the most friendly way and made us feel really welcome. The lunch menu with two courses priced at £9.95 is a steal! My wife had a gammon steak (Very tasty!) and I chose the Thai Chicken Curry with Jasmine rice, recommended by the young lady who served us. It was superb, easily the best Thai Curry I have ever tasted. I discovered that the chef is Thai, which of course explained the quality. Overall we had a very good dining experience, enjoying excellent service and outstanding quality of cuisine. Well done!

Another wonderful Sunday lunch at Rumbledethumps in Dairsie, Fife. This time we tried something new. There were two orders for crispy duck spring rolls with mixed leaves and a light, tasty plum dipping sauce, and as the seafood cakes were off, the other choice was prawn and crab spring rolls with the same sauce. The addition of a slice of fresh sweetcorn gave the salad an extra nibble factor. For the main courses we had the baked salmon steak (a very large piece that tasted freshly caught) served with sautéed prawns and mushrooms with a medley of vegetables and boiled potatoes; grilled chicken marinated in curried coconut cream and served with a fresh, spicy carrot salad, jasmine rice and a the peanut sauce was delicious and not at all thick or cloying; and lastly the pan-fried breast of chicken, generously covered in butter with lumps of chopped garlic and chives (unlike the homogenised pat of butter and crushed garlic that was expected) which was served with a beautiful salad and a baked potato. The salad once again had the sweetcorn slice which was joined by coleslaw and slices of beetroot.

On a drive around Fife we popped into the Dairsie Inn, Rumbledethumps Restaurant, although we hadn't booked we found it to be very quiet, in fact apart from another couple who arrived 40 minutes later after us we were the only ones in the place, this was just after 2pm. We thought that we had missed lunch (some places do stop serving at 2) but the server invited us to a table, we ordered our drinks and our food. I opted for soup then haddock and chips my wife went for the lasagne. The soup came out, broth, and I found it to be delicious, then the mains followed, what can I say? The food that was served to us has to be the best plate of food I have been served this year so far, everything was cooked to perfection, the chefs attention to detail was immaculate, even though it was just fish and chips the care taken to deliver a great dish was above and beyond, for example cutting the pith off the lemon so that you don't squirt juice over you and making sure that the decoration on the plate is edible, well done that chef. One small point though it was frozen chips but it was a better quality frozen chip cooked perfectly so we'll overlook that point. The lasagne was cooked to perfection as well, with the béchamel sauce on top being really tasty. Both portions were huge, if you are not a big eater you might struggle to finish. The servers were polite, well presented and prompt the dinning area we were in was small enough to feel cosy but large enough that it didn't feel cramped. There is plenty of parking at the rear of the building. If you are in the Cupar or St. Andrews area pop in for a bite you wont be disappointed.

This is pretty much a bog standard pub food outlet. However, the pub food does not seem to know this. The menu is enormous, trying to cover as many cuisine styles as possible, and somebody has done a vegetable carving course. This ends up just being food done to a reasonable, but not exciting level, with very pretty accompaniment. It is reasonable value and portions are large. The ambiance is pretty much pensioner outing, and the place settings are fairly institutional. Nothing about the staff, surrounds or food is actually bad, and I would not be against going again, but would not seek it out.

Been there twice recently for lunch as my friend likes it and the food is okay. However, it seems it can't decide what it is - Thai or British restaurant. That might not be a bad thing but my main problem is the size of the menu especially at lunchtime. There are at least a dozen starters then two dozen mains (portion sizes are good) but none of them are organised by food group so it's hard to remember what you've read! In addition there are daily specials so the choice is enormous - too huge for me! Also as there is no lunch menu, you pay dinner prices - I paid nearly £70 for the two of us for 3 courses and a few drinks! It would be much better to sort out the options, cut down the choices and get a fixed lunch menu.

Nice restaurant layout but a bit old in decor. The meals are very well priced and they do kids courses for £1 per adult. The food was very average and did not have the home made pub food factor about it. The Thai waitress(not sure if she is owner or manager) clearly has not heard of manners and treats her staff/colleagues like dirt. She shouted at the female waitress when she approached our table with food(which was correctly intended for us) as she thought it was for another table. Last minute booking, made very welcome as usual. We were 30 mins early and even although the restaurant was busy, we were offered our table immediately. We declined and said we would like a drink first. This was no problem. Drinks were served and the menu's were offered for us to peruse prior to taking our table. We selected our dishes and were given the opportunity to relax with our drinks, and we would be shown to our table when our food was ready. I had the grilled chicken, which was a butterfly breast of chicken, marinated in a Thai coconut/spice mix that brought a beautiful Asian spin to a perfectly cooked tender breast of chicken. This was accompanied by a wonderfully warmed spiced peanut sauce on the side, that set off the marinated chicken perfectly. The other addition to this dish is a carrot and tomato salad, served as a side dish. This salad is traditionally Thai spiced, and is tongue tingling hot. All in all a very well thought out dish that gives the diner a very authentic sample of the taste of Thailand, that is not readily available in Fife. My wife chose the Scottish traditional battered haddock and chips. Nothing more to be said, other than, perfectly cooked fish, crispy fat chips, a side salad and homemade tartar sauce. A beautiful meal, that keeps us returning to this fine village restaurant that wouldn't be out of place in a large town or city.

Price was definitely good for the quality and quantity and I would have expected to pay more for what we got. There were a few other tables occupied at the time and only one boy serving the tables but he was brilliant. The food came out quickly, he was very attentive, checked to make sure everything was alright and we didn't have to call him over for anything. Food was delicious, full of flavour. Catered to the three of our tastes which included a man who eats no vegetables and a fussy 11 yr old. Portions were bigger than we expected but my daughter ate more of her adult portion than I've ever seen her eat in a restaurant, and the desserts were scoffed too. I'd been working a hard shift so was slightly grumpy and tired but the service and food completely chilled me out. We were only ones in as they closed half hour after we arrived but we weren't rushed in any way. Our servers were so friendly. The night I was there it had a bit of an empty coach party atmosphere but that will vary. There is some stiff competition within a 10 minute drive so I'll say that I wouldn't not go back there again.

Been here a number of times but last week most recent in a group of 3 adults and 4 children, we were lucky to have a large table in a quiet spot where we could worry a little less of the chatter of the kids. Most people will drive past this on way to/ from St Andrews but I think the food and service here rival all but the top St Andrews restaurants and we'll worth avoiding some of the queues in town. The kids menu offers great value at $1.00 a course when adult ordering a meal. Although quite a quiet restaurant they do cater for children so don't be put off by appearances!Adult food very good portions , quality and for the meals we had very tasty. Priced reasonably too.Sizzling platter very spicy!Fish fresh and not greasyPrawn salad a winner too

Have often passed this restaurant /pub on way to St Andrews and decided to visit with our family. The welcome was warmand friendly. We were sat in the bright conservatory (seats were quite close to one another so felt a bit uncomfortable with our noisy 5 year old). Menu suited everyone. Kids menu great value at £1 per course when adult having a main meal. Great variety of specials on offer. The grilled haddock and asparagus with cheese was very tasty served with both vegetables, salad and a side portion of chips ! Large portions for all. Particular praise for the pork and vegetable spring rolls- just delicious. The decor could be doing with a wee spruce up but we had a delightful evening with delicious food. Glad we gave it a chance!

Staff always polite and friendly. If you are passing give it a go - you wont be disappointed. Try the starter of Rumbledethumps - absolutely gorgeous and delicious.

This Restaurant has started doing a Thai themed menu on the last Friday of every month. We attended the one on 24th June, I have visited Thailand on a couple of occasions and am a huge fan of their cuisine, so I know a authentic Thai dish when one is served to me. This was the best Thai meal I have had outside of the country itself. When we arrived for our 1900hrs reservation, we were shown directly to our table, menu issued and drinks order taken, the authentic aromas of the East emanating throughout the restaurant. The food we ordered was beautifully presented, enhanced with intricately prepared vegetables. I cannot begin to tell you the names of the dishes we ordered as they were listed in the Thai language, description of the meals in English, but save to say the food was excellent. All one could hear in the restaurant was the appreciative sounds of contentment. We will certainly be booking our table for next months Thai experience. Thanks guys.....

Took the kids for a late lunch expecting pretty standard pub grub and was very pleasantly surprised by what we actually got. The blackened Cajun chicken was absolutely delicious, served with perfectly cooked veg and chips. I normally don't bother with the chips but I cleared the lot. My husband had the sizzler burger and would have been quite happy to have had another to follow. Even the kids food was of a higher standard than I would expect for a bar lunch. The staff are very friendly and accommodating, especially with the kids - they actually spoke to them instead of over them. We will definitely be going back for more, and at the prices we paid today, it won't break the bank! Definitely a five-star place.

The Methven Rumbldethumps is nothing like this one. Went to the Methven one the other day and despite being shown a table the rude waiter came and told us the restaurant was full... With less than 20 people in it. Ended up going to the Indian along the road. On the way home at 8.30 we could see the same waiter cashing up, the tables reset and not a single person in it. This is an disgrace and I pity the owner if this is happening on a daily basis which I'm told by other villagers it is. Owner if your reading this please address this other wise the poor service is going to affect your profits.

Food was excellent throughout and I'm told the wine was too (I was driving! Prices were very reasonable indeed. The staff work hard to make your visit as pleasant as possible and deserve to succeed. Altogether a very satisfactory experience and one which we will certainly repeat.

A Christmas dinner with friends made memorable by the banter and laughter, just as well as , the food didn't live up to the billing. Soup lacked flavour, turkey was fine although a little sparse, cheesecake was good. We had pre-ordered a few weeks ago, but menu changed this week. Definately used to be better, will give it a miss for a bit I think.

we hadn't visited for quite some time, but I do remember having had better food. A rather unusual starter of banana wrapped in bacon in a creamy cheese sauce was rather tasty although a bit heavy. From the main menu, The beef strips were like stroganoff with a hint of chilli and I did comment to staff that the mushrooms were past their best. Portion sizes were good. There was a good choice of tempting desserts if only We had room! Dined in the conservatory which was cosy and warm, the staff very friendly and helpful and the service was very good. £50 for 2 course lunch with a coffee and a soft drink. A good atmosphere. Easy to park

Stopped in on our way home from St Andrews. From the moment we entered we were made to feel very welcome, people smiled and said "hello, how are you".We were shown to a table in the conservatory, given our menus introduced to the specials board and left to decide what we were eating. When we ordered the food it arrived a short time later nice and hot with plenty on the plate, it was very tasty. The puddings were v good also. The staff were polite, attentive and we were made to feel at home.Overall we had a very good meal in a warm, friendly, cosy atmosphere. We had passed by quite a few times on our way to and from St Andrews. We will now be stopping for something to eat when we next go through.

Excellent place to eat, very welcoming and friendly. I'm a vegetarian and although there was not a great deal on the menu, the owner informed me that the chef would prepare many vegetarian alternatives. The food was served quickly, the presentation was lovely and it tasted very good. Very enjoyable relaxed evening. Would highly recommend it .

This was the suggestion of a friend so I naturally assumed he had been before. We all chose from the pensioners' menu, perhaps that was a bad choice. Most customers were indeed older people and all seemed to be fairly happy. However, when the food came, it was very disappointing. We all had a starter as follows. The haggis was one slice coated in breadcrumbs and fried. My Briè was similar. Both came with a small salad. The soup was the best option as it looked like home made with some nice bread and butter to accompany it. The main courses were just as disappointing. Cayjan chicken looked pale and tasteless, served with frozen veg. My steak and ale pie had no gravy at all, meat looked as if it had been hanging about in the back of the fridge for a while and the pastry had been cooked separately earlier. It was not even hot. Haddock was fairly tasty but rather small. I suppose that was because it was on the Pensioners' menu. The chips that came with everything were delicious, perfectly cooked, dry and crispy. My dessert was in fact lovely. Sorry that I sound very negative but I tried to put myself in the place of a tourist. Service was attentive and friendly but much more effort needed with the menu and quality of food.

Fantastic family meal! Can;t speak highly of this restaurant more. We turned up, without booking (when they were clearly busy) and they managed to squeeze us in). My husband, and 2 children were with me and we had great service and amazing food. Couldn't complain about anything, and having worked in hospitality previously, I can be fussy! A super place, would definitely recommend.
