Ruby Open Kitchen in Barnsley

Been ordering from Ruby's for years now, the quality of the food is great and the quantity is large as well. The staff are very friendly which adds to the ordering experience. Wouldn't choose to go anywhere else.

Used to be a very good takeaway unfortunately has gone down hill quickly.

Only get chicken balls or salt and pepper chicken with chips and both very nice best I've tried anywhere

The food from this place used to be fantastic, over the last year it has declined beyond recognition. This evening it was greasy had no flavour and was bland. We ended up throwing most of it away. Very disappointing.

They always make the food amazing everytime and I love it.

My mate walked in and ordered it came just after we sat down so i went back in and ordered we timed it and only took 24s to come from being served from the till

It was the nicest salt and pepper chips I have ever had would scran again.

First time we have ordered from rubys but unfortunately it will be our last , when we ordered we were told it would be around 45 mins it arrived in 15 mins which is barely enough time to cook it let alone deliver it and that showed in the taste of the meal.crispy duck was way below anything I have ever tasted, powdered curry chicken had no flavour at all , beef in black bean sauce was chewy tasteless all in all very bad experience save your money go to lidyl .

This is our favourite 'go to' Chinese place. The food is amazing. The chicken foo yung is by far the best I've tasted and the Sweet and sour is beaut. I would collect if it's possible for you as the delivery is £4. I don't remember it been that dear before covid, so we always collect now. Mind you with the current petrol/diesel prices it may be cheaper to pay delivery🤣 Beautiful food though and well worth it.

Just got out of hospital from Salmonella poisoning salt and pepper munchie box. Chicken wings were the culprit lost a weeks work and cost The NHS a bed so thanks for that complained to just eat as we ordered thru them only to save others from suffering and got told to send a stool sample.. Really it's like water and post it hospital have had a sample and as I said salmonella

I have recently started shopping here for about five years now and I used to like the food a lot. I usually have the 3/4 aromatic crispy duck with leeks, onion, cucumber and pankaces and usually they are extremely nice. However they were BURNT this time around. Extremely not so disappointed with the food though still very tasty and scrumptious. Big up the NDL

Not so much a Chinese food fan as I always order special foo yung but decided to change from tonight and had special Thai green curry,it was one of the tastiest meals I had had ever.thankyou for a super tasty meal which I will definitely be ordering again and again.well done ruby kitchen.

The best Chinese takeaway in the area

Not ordered from here for a while so I am disappointed with what I got ,Curry was watered down, not much chicken and lots of onions, tasteless ,I won't be ordering from there again 😡😔

Raw chicken balls, poor delivery service! Complained about the chicken balls as they were pink inside (all 10) so they sent a replacement which turned up with hairs on them! First Delivery driver tired to step into the house whilst Covid-19 was happening and also over charged on the order... Will definitely not be returning!

Ordered for a take away. Asked for chicken satay with no onion. Basically got a chicken curry which is not what i ordered and the food was just not nice at all. Got to be the worst Chinese i have ever had.

Food was ok spend over £30, did say to the lady that I will have mini spring rolls and prawn cracker for our free offer, but unfortunately we got was prawn crackers, so lost out on our free food for spending, over the certain amount, phoned up to ask why I didnt get what I asked for the reply was we didn't have any cooked, I don't mind but I do feel same time they can be a little rude

We came in 21.20 to order our food. We paid £65 for the order. The lady says it will be 40mins wait.... ok we said we come back. we came back 40mins later . Other lady approach us and says another 25mins. Oh ok gurrrl ... we will wait . She told us we can go home and they will deliver to us , but I wasnt keep on that cause it will take even longer so I said we will wait . Another 50mins later our order is still not done! Wtf , are they doing ! Almost 2 hours !!?!?!?!?!

We set off for a ruby open kitchen around 5.20 pm, last Saturday, when we got there at 5.25 pm it was already open. Within minutes our starters for 2 and a shared prawn curry and fried rice was ready. When we got home the meal was great and very filling for two people. Would recommend.

I then receive a call from them nearly an hour and half later saying they are sorry but they have to cancel the order as I am too far away - only 10 minutes from my postcode to theirs. WHY accept the order and wait an hour and half to cancel it when we are expecting food. It is now nearly 9pm, the kids have school tomorrow so thanks so much for the unprofessional service. You even had the cheek to laugh when I said this is unprofessional and you have left us all with no food to eat tonight with it being our first night in our new home. DO NOT ORDER FROM THESE COWBOYS!

The worst takeaway ever! Cold hard chips,vile tasting curry sauce and dried up salt and pepper chicken. Probably the worst meal we’ve ever had!

Very low quality battered chicken, soggy and prevents absorbing sauce. Sauces are watery. Large amount of onions, all expected vegetables are replaced with onion

Just had a take away delivered. Everything was cold, and the king prawn dish was in a batter that was inedible and had soaked up the entire sauce. Left with a bowl of cold soggy mess and still hungry. Waste of money, will never order from here again.

Ordered the Thai green curry and beef with spring onion and ginger. Both were tasteless, full of onion and the sauce was watery. Chips were hard and over cooked. The only decent thing was the prawn crackers. Don’t usually use this Chinese and won’t again! Rubbish!

Ruby has been our favourite Just Eat Chinese for some time but tonight was even better than usual - firstly the order arrived in 20 minutes flat and was hot and fresh. Second, the salt and pepper squid was fantastic, not chewy, plenty of salt and pepper as you’d hope and still crispy despite travelling in plastic tubs. Steak satay tender and lots of it, ditto the rice. Mrs Was very happy with her chicken in ginger too. The dog was the only one not satisfied - he barely got any leftovers.

Ordered twice from here. Whilst the dishes themselves were nice, on both occasions the chips came with salt on - and lots of it. Completely ruined the overall taste of the meal as it the salt overpowered everything. Won’t be ordering again, if I wanted salt on my chips I’d put it on myself.

Food quality is, for the most part, generally very, very good. On a couple of occasions, items have been missed off, so it is definitely worth checking your order before you leave, though they generally run through the list with you when you come to collect. The dishes are very good. Taste and overall flavour are decent, and the meat seems to be of good quality, generally. Saying that, the beef can sometimes be somewhat suspect, but that is to be expected from an establishment with dishes for takeaway. We have had cold dishes on a couple of occasions, and this is because they do not keep the orders under heat; instead, they are just left on the side, so make sure you are quick to pick them up or you could risk having cold food. Overall, I would recommend this takeaway.

This is one of our regular takeaways and never disappoints. Food always fresh and hot on arrival. Good value for money. Even friends comment how good the food is compared to their local Chinese takeaway.

Ordered crispy shredded beef, plain noodles , chips, vegetable spring rolls. The difference from 2002 to now is incredible! I use to think this place was a class above, unfortunately it's absolutely dreadful to say the least. All the food I received was cold,tasted of nothing and it looked like it had been microwaved to the last! Needless to say I certainly will never eat here ever again.

the noodles were overcooked and it did not taste like Chinese food, just like overcooked pasta with chicken and some sauce. I do not recommend ☹

I left an order done on line for quite a lot of food. The chinese accepted my order then 5 minutes later cancelled it, for what reason i do not know as they did not even bother giving a reason. I paid by card and am now having trouble getting a refund. BEWARE Steer well clear of this chinese as they are happy to take your order and payment but then cancel with NO explanation. I WILL NEVER ORDER FROM THIS PLACE AGAIN.

I was very impressed with the last time I ordered from here, but my return visit wasn't as good. The two mains I ordered were average at best (special curry & duck in black bean sauce). Both were bland & Luke warm.

Normally good food and good service

The clues in the title, food plentiful but the taste I'm afraid is.... well quite frankly, tasteless! It used to be very good when it first opened but has steadily declined over the past 12 months.... Shame really.

Normalmente me paso llevar folletos que he había empujado a través de mi buzón directamente en la papelera, pero por alguna razón tuve un hojear este y vio una gran selección de comida vegetariana, así que cuidado.

Siempre el mismo orden de China - dulce y amarga de pelotas de pollo, arroz y patatas fritas. Las raciones son muy grandes. Compartir la mía con mi pareja e incluso tenemos que echar a algunos. . . Creo que te dan 10 bolas de pollo un chapuzón grande dulce y agria, un montón de arroz y una buena cantidad de patatas fritas las rústicas. Las bolas de pollo son crujientes, que me gusta!

Pollo Kung po chili y platos de pasta excelente. Aperitivo combo especial muy bueno. Siempre fiable.

Been going here for years only had on complaint Was when it was tirst taken over they sorted it straight away & apologised never had one since .Always found them friendly you ring them up order your food nearly always ready to pick up in 10 /20 minutes .you see they must have done thousands of meals & are going strong ,But in my opinion most people that have a bad meal will always complain & so they should . but 99% that have enjoyed it never do

We've become a nation of critics and the review mentality is getting a bit out of hand, it's now got to the stage with some people that they're thinking of the review while eating the meal or while they're staying in the actual hotel, what's it all coming to ?We've had take aways from here for the last 7 months and they NEVER fail, I really can't believe the past reviews on this place especially the one 2/9/15 who says ''The only plus point is we now have several plastic trays we can now use for real food'' get a life ! and then another reviewer puts the phone is always busy and delivery slow, duhhh doesn't that tell you something. That's my rant over.Food excellent, competitively priced, pleasant staff on phone and at pick up.Cant reccommend enough.

Always get our Chinese food from here as it's tasty and fairly priced. Delivery guys are always so lovely and polite. If you go to collect your food you can see the whole kitchen which is a bonus, it's clean and everything cooked to order.

Always get me chink from here. Never had any problems. Always good fresh cooked grub, if you go in can see it getting made in the open kitchen. Wouldn't get me food from anywhere else

I can't believe this place does squid!!!! Love it. We were looking for a new Chinese as we are fed up of mediocre places around here. Ruby's was recommended by a neighbour as apparently they have a big open kitchen in the reception area so you can see your food being cooked? Anyway had a delivery which was really fast and the food nice and hot (no need to microwave!!). Will definitely be making this our regular.

Always go to Ruby Kitchen even though we have a bit of a drive to get to it. Constantly good. Phone always busy, but I think that's a good sign. Delivery is slow so we always pick up, but it's worth it. We really like it and always go back.

Always get our chinese from here, the duck is lovely, as is the rest. Clean and quick - the only thing is they don't take cards. But not the end of the world.

Ordered from here upon recommendation. Salt and pepper chips are simply device. Arrived within 15 minutes and the whole selection was wonderful

Absolutely disgusting so salty and rude staff when I rang to complain the YOUNG girl was very ignorant and didn't have a clue what she was doing. Safe to say I won't be going again.

The only plus point is we now have several plastic trays we can now use for real food. The takeaway did deliver a replacement meal which wasn't much better than the first offering and all the other food was cold by the time this was re-delivered.The main meals were very poor, only the chips and noodles were any good - even the rice was poor. Never again.

l used to love ruby kitchen but the food is terrible now. All my order from starters to mains was awful. I wont be ordering again is all went in the bin.

This used to be a gorgeous takeaway but I don't know what has happened!!! Ordered recently and it was awful. The chips tasted like they had been warmed up, prawn crackers were like shop bought ones and all the starters and mains got wasted. It was shocking and gutted i had wasted my money. I will definitely NOT be ordering again.

Delicious Chinese food and clean, open kitchen. Good menu with tofu, squid and other dishes not often seen in Chinese takeaway menus.

Always get our chinese food from here, it is like no other! Honestly best Chinese I have visited allllllll over the UK.

I used to eat here a lot and the food was brilliant. Attention to detail was key. Fresh, crunchy with carrots shaped into butterflies etc. Really was something special. The last couple of times it was mediocre. Tonight I have just had what I can only classify as the dregs of a dishwashers slop. It was disgusting and I nearly vomited after taking a mouthful. Until tonight I had never grown a takeaway in the bin. So thank you Ruby Kitchen you have created a first. Tonight I noticed the cleanliness certificate is a 3 out of 5. There are no excuses for not keeping clean. We are never going there again. It really has slipped.

Only takeaway ill have, delicious food, and definite must for a Friday night treat.
