Royal Oak Beefeater Grill in Tonbridge and Malling

We were waiting at reception for a solid 10 mins. We decided to go sit down at an empty table because the restaurant was very empty so we didn’t see it as a problem. Another 10 mins go by and the manager tells us this table is booked & every table in the restaurant. I then called the restaurant when we left and asked if they had any availability and they did…. Don’t waste your time here. The ginger manager is rude. very ego triggered

Regular customers here. Very good value for money and service good We go regularly and Stacey D is usually our waitress. Friendly and always remembers who we are. No complaints whatsoever, we’ll be back in a few weeks with our friends

Excellent breakfast Excellent value!

Been here several times as local. Surf N turf good but a bit shy with the calamari. Butternut squash, spinach and ricotta cannelloni very tasty. Sticky toffee pudding and chocolate brownie with extra choc sauce just lovely. All served very hot and quite quickly. Sue our waitress was excellent, happy in her work very attentive without being overbearing. Why can't all waitresses be like Sue. We will definitely return again.

Been coming in here for years for family meals and I can say for the first time it's been disappointing your chefs and management team used to be second to none but they seem to have been replaced by incompetents your waitress staff are taking so much stress from the chefs not cooking food correctly making the wrong orders and generally dumping on the poor waitress staff there is a lady in there that I will not name incase of repercussion but she is wonderful and normally full of life and has always provided me and my family with a 5 star service she looked run down yesterday and at one point nearly broke into tears is this how your staff should be treated? Your 1 star review is warranted my food was under cooked my partners over cooked she sent hers back but to save the poor waitress any more embarrassing I said nothing as she was having problems all over the place and i didnt wamt to add to the clear stress she was under all i did was thanked her for a lovely meal. I have visited this place month after month for years look after the waitresses and sort your chefs out

I was here between 3pm and 5pm and it was chilled. The food, piping hot and really tasty!

Friendly, welcoming place. Lovely staff, especially Carole K, she was an absolute star!! And she went above and beyond with her service, even offering to take our photo (after seeing that we’d taken ‘selfies’). Food was great and came out quick. We had a fantastic time celebrating my mum's 70th birthday with delicious food and friendly, welcoming and professional servers. Sue D made our night particularly fun and memorable with her fun personality and keen attention to making sure we had a great time 😁

We were new to using the royal oak and thought of trying it. We had a table booked for 12pm but we did arrive a little early and was seated straight away and ordered food and drink within 10 mins. The restaurant was getting busy and some of the tables were getting they order quite quickly. Time went by and over 1 hour later we still hadn't received our meals it was about 20 minutes later and we had received our food. We noticed there was meals just sitting on the counter waiting to be served.

Served by Gail, who was really friendly and very efficient. She was also kind to my mum who has advanced Parkinson's disease.

Accommodated my family and myself at very short notice. Good food. All staff were very friendly and helpful.

Food ok but poor service. The children’s starter took an hour to be served and what should have been an hour/90 minute lunch turned into nearly a 3 hour visit. Apparently only 1 chef on and restaurant was fairly busy. Never had mediocre food in here either so that was a first! Usually delicious. A real shame as was a favourite lunch restaurant. Not a lot could be done by waiting staff who could only serve what had been dished up from the kitchen, but a real shame as my brother who is a very generous tipper usually, couldn’t bring himself to leave a tip. Such a shame for one of our favourites to drop so low in our estimations

We ordered a Sunday lunch , when it came out it wasn't very hot . The food was bland and not very much of it. Overall not very nice.

Came here as a group of 6 and service was excellent. We were serviced by Carol who was one of the best waitresses I’ve been served by. Really helpful and attentive (always noticing when drinks were empty etc) and was a good laugh too. Would really recommend going, food was also good. We had roast dinners, burgers and spinach lasagne, all were good. The vegetarian chicken roast was great.

I booked a table months in advance for my daughter and I to eat at this restaurant for Boxing Day as a nice treat. The menu looked good value for money but still a decent amount that we would be spending. We arrived and the host lady was very friendly which was nice. Then I’m assuming her manager (a guy) came over, interrupted what she was doing and was saying “where are you putting them?” which I found not very friendly at all. No “where will you be seating them” which would have been more appropriate. Anyway, not the end of the world. We were seated in the only area that had people which I would say was about 6 tables. Our table had a centre peace which was great considering it was Christmas. However that was it, no crackers etc. An older lady came to our table and said she would be waiting on us and asked what we would like. Due to my daughter having an allergy I asked for the allergen menu and queried an item because the info to what the chef had said was different. The chef came out but I felt like a bit of an inconvenience. We come here for breakfast regularly because breakfast staff have always been amazing with her allergies! When we’d finally placed our food order we still hadn’t been asked what drinks and by this point we’d been here a while. Our table happened to be right next to the podium where staff input food orders etc and while waiting for our food the older lady was clearly having trouble with submitting orders or had got her self confused and she was moaning away to herself and on three occasions was saying “oh for f*** sake”. I was shocked when I heard this and I have a toddler who could very easily copy this. After the third time I said to myself if this happens again I’m going to have to ask her not to. Our food finally came out and was very tasty so have no problem recommending this place for the actual food. At the end of the meal she said oh maybe I’ll try and find a Christmas pack she can have. I felt this should have been given at the table when we were seated. She then walked past us with a load of crackers and didn’t even offer us one. It wasn’t Christmas Day but it was Boxing Day! Surely this should have still been made to feel like a festive occasion and it was so far from that. On multiple times during our time there I just wanted to leave and was even more disappointing when it wasn’t a cheap meal. I certainly wouldn’t book this place for a special/festive occasion again. The lady even had the cheek to ask at the end for me to leave a Tripadvisor review for her! If the food wasn’t super tasty it would have only been a 1 star!

We recently had Sunday lunch at The Royal Oak and had a great meal. Our food was good, hot and freshly cooked. As usual we received a warm welcome to the restaurant by the staff. Our waitress Carol was fantastic. She was friendly, helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. The staff at this restaurant are amazing and the reason we keep returning

Booked this as a pre-wedding family meal as we were staying in the Premier Inn next door. Sue was amazing. She had given us and specially decorated a big round table for us. The food was good. Sue suggested a plain grilled salmon and salad for my sister who is gluten-free. Service from Sue was absolutely fantastic - super friendly, attentive and helpful and she was great with the kids - nothing was too much - a great asset to Beefeater. Have attached the family photo that Sue very kindly took of us.

Had a great time at this restaurant with brilliant service from Sue. She even brought a muffin out for Kayleigh as it was her birthday, and everyone sang for her, such a lovely gesture. The food was hot and enjoyable and would definitely go again.

Couple of mistakes with the orders But sorted in the end

Disappointed as we booked table for ten and were told we couldn't all sit together as a family, yet next day we came for breakfast and there was a family of ten sharing one table, food was great although to a long time to come out, manager seems a bit lost, breakfast.service was.much better food was quick amd very tasty, would suggest management working on customer service however waiting staff gave 100%.

Christmas dinner was really good

Came in on Christmas day as a party of 6. First time ever eating out for Christmas and what a amazing day had by all. But the best thing was our Waitress Sue, she made our day and is a great asset to the restaurant. Will be back, thank you Sue for making us feel special xx

Hope my details can be identified by the following: Visited on Wed 27th Dec, booking for 2.30pm, table 20/1, chk 8239, 7 of us, including 2 35-year-old guys in wheelchairs. Served really well by the lovely 5005 Gail C, who took the trouble to give us time to choose what we wanted, and the patience to help us understand the bill and correct it where needed. All that and friendly throughout. Good on her!

Christmas Day meal with the family. Great food, great service and great atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Had our works Xmas dinner here, food was average. Prawn and smoked salmon starters was good, but the turkey dinner was small with two small slices of turkey. And we never got our side order of pigs in blankets.

We went for a group Christmas dinner. Carol looked after us very well, she was very attentive, helpful, cheerful and had a lovely warm personality. Service was quick in a good way. The food was lovely, could not fault it. Lovely and fresh and everything hot. The Xmas dinner was cooked to perfection - fresh, just the right amount, and will all trimmings. We felt the menu was very good value for money too and we went for the 3 course option. Would 100% recommend.

We were greeted by Stacey, and taken to our table. Stacey was very cheerful, polite, and attentive. . Our drinks were brought while we studied the menu. Stacey was very informative and helpful with the menu, and recommended various dishes. We had a lovely, leisurely meal, we were served quickly, but not rushed as in some establishments. Absolutely fabulous little place to stop for a meal. Friendly and welcoming staff. Particular shout out to Sue for her great photography and charity work for the local hospice. Definitely recommend a trip down for a meal.

Great service, Stacey was really attentive, chatty and helpful. We all had steak which was perfectly cooked and really tasty. Biscoff sundae was yummy! We sat chatting and drinking for 2 hrs after our meal, nothing was too much trouble for the staff.

We have just been to this restaurant for Sunday roast. The service was appalling, We booked at table for 4:30pm as we have young kids so wanted to eat early as to get them to bed early. We sat down at 4:30 & did not leave until 7:15pm. From what we could see there was one waitress serving 1whole side of the restaurant on her own with little help from the Manager Olek. Our waitress was fantastic but over worked & unfortunately this meant we were just forgotten. Waiting over 30 to have plates cleared, menus bought out. We could see our food just sitting under the heat lamp drying out. I'm absolutely appalled by this we quite like it here & visit frequently but I think we will go elsewhere from now on. Not even an apology from the manager when I complained.

Nice dining areas and menu - much more restaurant-like than pub-like. Wonderful food, and my medium-rare rib eye was perfectly cooked. Had a voucher for a free bottle of wine, but were told by by manager that it had already been used. We had only received it a few days before by email. If it had it certainly was not by us. The manager treated us in a very offhand manner and told us ring his head office and complain. We will not be going back.
