We met friends for lunch at the Royal Oak and the lunch we had was superb! We had the Cod Goujons Scampi and the Steak and Mushroom pie, all were beautiful and the homemade chips were amazing. We had Bread and Butter pudding and Waffle for dessert and again beautiful. The value for money is excellent and the staff were very friendly and gave excellent service. We shall definitely return!

Family birthday celebration Sunday lunch whilst holidaying locally and it was also mother's day so very busy. However the service was wonderful, we had children with us and had a table with plenty of space, thankyou. The food was of the highest standard, we were recommended to book here. Finally the exceptional value. We would eat here on a regular basis if we lived closer. First class and thanks again to your lovely staff.

Excellent value for money food with a wide range of choice

Highly recommend the cod goujons with chips and mushy peas on the lunchtime menu, Excellent. The chocolate orange cheesecake was also amazing 😊

We’ve been visiting The Royal Oak for a couple of years now and love it. The food is AMAZING and great quality. The staff are friendly and it’s just a lovely place to eat.

Wonderful 3 course Christmas meal. I am coeliac and had no problem with my gluten free choices.

The food was seriously delicious. Good two starters, I had pate, wife had mushrooms, both nice. We both had the steak & mushroom pie, chips & veg. It was seriously tasty & absolutely delicious.The gravy was out of this world. The best ever! 😋 The service was quick & friendly. And the two pints of Pedigree were the very best I've had for years. 10/10. Good fair prices too. Will definitely go again. Thank you Royal Oak. 👍🤟🍺

Had the 2 course evening menu for £12.50. Portions were generous and the chips were delicious. This deal is excellent value for money. Service could have been quicker - but as this was a friend's catch up it did not inconvenience us too much.

Great place to eat, food is just wonderful, plenty of it. Staff very helpful. Plenty of parking, gets busy so book your table in advance. Recommend. I went on a Sunday had roast lamb and it was delicious.

Visited with family and was significantly surprised how tastefully decorated and a warm welcoming reception by very pleasant young lady. Drink order duly taken and was delivered quickly. Food orders taken and at a very reasonable price either individual or a two course priced option was offered. The food was delivered by very polite young staff who were very proficient in there task. A pleasure to see they were all smiling throughout and when it came to clearing tables and resetting they acted as a team. Very good. The food itself was freshly cooked and piping hot. By the taste of the food quality products are used as all meals were extremely tasty. I would have no hesitation in returning in fact will make a point of doing so.

Fantastic home cooked food at a reasonable price. My wife and ourselves will make this our regular meal out treat.

Cracking pub in lovely location with exceptionally polite and welcoming staff. Had to book early as we had a dog and it was a Saturday night but still a pleasant experience.

We organised with the manager for a table of 18 for our family on our wedding day. Fantastic service and care. Looked after us and the food was as brilliant as it always is even with a big group. Cannot thank you enough for looking after us and making our evening very special.

We’ve noticed all the food comes on a plate, but chips and veggies separate which is a new thing and we couldn’t decide weather is working or not, as we had to share a bowl of chip’s between us. I totally recommend the pate, chicken goujons, and the pie for the main. The pie was cooked perfectly, and the beef was very very tasty and soft. Puddings 9/10, again, custard seemed to be microwaved and had some lumps inside and a jelly texture, but only few places are doing dessert in the house nowadays so its totally understandable. Lovely meal had the soup and roast beef

This pub has no toilet facilities for any one needing assistance for example just a handle on the wall to enable older or slightly disabled persons to use the toilet. On enquiring the pub are most unhelpful and dismissive.

Not in the main room that we would have chosen but the alternative room was acceptable. Food was very good and service was satisfactory. Not too bad a wait. Would definitely return in the future.

Been going here for Sunday Lunch for a very long time, food is always piping hot, beautifully presented, never had a bad meal, portions are on the large side and lovely home cooked chips, it's a pleasure to dine here, quality is top class

We are frequent and satisfied customers at the Royal Oak and have been for many years. We introduced some friends to the Royal Oak a few years ago and they often book parties of twelve into the restaurant. Very pleasant staff serve you quite quickly and are keen to help with the choices of food. The food is always served fresh and piping hot. My wife and l both chose a starter of soup and a warm roll. My main was blue cheese and pear salad with walnuts, together with a choice of lettuce and peppers amongst other things. My wife chose beef with mushroom with a pastry lid. Fresh vegetables were included ,which consisted of new potatoes, carrots and fresh peas. Also included is a large dish of the tastiest chips which l doubt that you will find anywhere else. We were undecided about whether or not to have the chips,which are always in large portions. The person waiting on us got impatient and snapped'Do you want chips or not?' We were the first in the restaurant so it was not busy. Maybe just someone having a bad day. Please visit the Royal Oak. They have an extensive choice on the menu and l am certain that you will enjoy it.

If you don’t mind being barked at and sniffed when you walk into a restaurant or pub, you might well love it here. Though I like dogs, I’m not keen on the trend for “Dog Friendly” dining. The Royal Oak was really busy for a weekday lunchtime – a good sign, perhaps. My son and I were quickly seated and given a menu and drinks, but it was ages before someone could find time to come and take our order. The two waitresses were rushed off their feet – they could definitely have done with an extra pair of hands. I was amazed at how pleasant and cheerful they were, considering. Full marks to them. The food arrived soon enough when we did eventually order, and it didn’t disappoint. Plenty of it, and good value for money. We might even try it again…

Suerb value and fabulous food need i say more .

We visited for a birthday meal on the recommendation of a friend and we were not disappointed. The first welcome from the staff was very friendly and same with service. There was a great buzz in the place. The smoked bacon and black pudding starter was a huge hit. The black pudding was moist and went really well with the peppercorn sauce. The black Cajun sea bass was equally as impressive, as was the mixed grill and bacon cheeseburger. Everything tasted so fresh. We are fussy about our steak but everything about it was great, cooked perfectly, tasty and so tender. The drinks were good quality and the Aperol spritz was perfectly balanced. We will be back and would highly recommend this place.

I have been dining at The Royal Oak regularly for the past 4 years. I have never had a bad or even 'average' meal here. The two course offer is around £14 per person and is fantastic value for money. I highly recommend the steak and mushroom pie and the lasagne. I can't comment on any of the desserts except the homemade cheesecake because I have it EVERY time I visit. Staff are friendly, food is always piping hot and served with fresh vegetables and homecooked chips served family style. We will be back soon!

We visited for lunch with friends. The menu offered is extensive. There are some very good deals on offer, though following all options on the menu is a little tricky. Food came in good time. Most items, although not the veg, were quite generous. Mostly the food was enjoyed. Some elements were far too salty for our taste. A pie really needs the filling to get to know the pastry lid for a while, and not just added at service. (Most places stopped doing this some years ago.) The place was not particularly welcoming, neither the staff when we checked-in nor the atmosphere in the dining room, which is rather functional. But it was okay

Perfect place to grab some lovely food at a good price and good service. We were starving after Alton Towers and this place served as a perfect solution. Burgers are monstrous and delicious and kids portions are huge. Lovely staff too

My wife and I ate there last night (Wednesday evening) and were thoroughly impressed. I had a pint of Pedigree whilst my wife had a glass of Sauvignon Blanc whilst we ordered, service was very friendly and prompt. We both had the steak and mushroom pie which was lovely, swilled down with a nice bottle of Malbec. My wife finished with bread and butter pudding and I had sticky toffee pudding. Delicious, and all for less than £55.

The food was delicious, the service was impeccable, and the atmosphere was nice and relaxed. We will definitely be going there again very soon.

On a visit to family in Stoke decided to take them out for a nice meal. I would advise booking in advance. I booked the table for 8.15 . Only time available for a table for 8 . The staff were friendly and polite and helpful. The food was excellent also very good prices. Plus they have a wonderful selection of drinks. Will definitely be going back next time I'm in Stoke.
