What a cracking pub! Comfortable, attractive, well-maintained with friendly, efficient staff serving great beer and food. A fine way to finish a walk through the Burnham Beeches ancient woodland.

Great food and a lovely atmosphere. Found the staff friendly and helpful too when I explained my dietary requirements. Will be back!

I can only highly recommend this place. The staff are highly professional and friendly, Stef and Kelvin made our evening tonight by providing everything exceptionally well. The food was delicious, atmosphere very cosy. It's a beautiful pub and well looked after.

Came for a valentines meal with my partner and have zero complaints. We were served by steph and jenny and it was amazing. nothing was too much to ask. food was great - compliments to the chef! first time here, but will definitely be returning.

A delicious " un Valentines lunch" on 14/2. Was gust what we needed after driving over 2 hours to a Family Funeral and returning home later in day.

I drive an hour to come here as the rib of beef roast is that good, we were served by a very friendly and professional waiter called Rene. He went above and beyond and the food is worth the drive. See you again soon!

Just want to say thank you to Steph and Danni for looking after my party of 4 last night. The food/service was amazing and so a big thank you to the chefs and all the team. My hubby had the signature burger and said it was beautiful. One of the best that he has had ever.

Popped in after a reasonably stressful day in nearby hospital sorting out various issues on behalf of parents, for an early dinner. Steph the lady who served us was AMAZING, really kind, quick service (we needed a quick bite but something warm and “sit down”). I had the venison shin with a really dark delicious sauce then cherry bakewell tart. A little soft in the pastry but cherry flavour was lovely. Again re the service - everything was really lovely. Relaxed but fast. Asked for cranberry sauce which wasn’t included in the dish - came immediately. Anna asked for little extra tomatoes and nothing was too much trouble. Again thank you to Steph and Jamie who looked after us very well! We’ll be back.

Visited a few times this year and had Christmas visit with family this week. Lovely food, really clean and great service from Nayel, Jenny & Rene.

Friendly staff affordable and quick service

First visit here, thoroughly enjoyed it. Chose the festive menu. Turkey was fab. Mulled wine 🍷 felt very Christmassy and tasted great. Overall the Christmas decor was warm and welcoming and Steph our host was fantastic. Overall we were so blessed by the great service, would definitely go again.

We met with friends and thoroughly enjoyed our first Christmas dinner of the season, off the Festive Menu. The meals were delicious, as were the festive desserts! There was a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant; it was nicely decorated and very cosy. We were served by Steph and Kelvin, who were both attentive, polite and very friendly. Will definitely be going back again to the Royal Oak. Happy to recommend!

Excellent food, superb, friendly staff and beautiful olde worlde pub. Would definitely recommend.

The pub itself if fine however the parking is not free and although there must be a sign in the car park we didn’t see it and you don’t expect to pay for parking in a roadside pub. None of the pub staff mentioned it and there is nothing in the pub to show you or encourage you to pay so we ended up with a £60 fine for a lunch that wasn’t worth the extra money!

The food was perfectly cooked, sharing board, with a mixed grill for myself and a sirloin for my wife. Lovely desserts, fantastic sticky toffee pudding, rounded off with a very good Irish Coffee (With Jameson's of course). The staff attentiveness was perfect, never felt rushed but never really waiting either. Really enjoyed tonight, thanks to the team at The Royal Oak.

Went here as a birthday treat. My daughter arrived early and wanted to put up balloons with tar on. Manager was concerned what the next table would say. They72 arrived did not even Rasid an eye brow. My daughter who is a trained catering manager...

Visited the royal oak on Tuesday service excellent and the venison shin was amazing and beautifully presented will defiantly be coming back.

i've heard there is a new chef here, well he did an excellent job today. deleicious sea bass wih scallops on rissotto, delicious, followed by a yummy sticky toffee pudding. excellent waiter service from Rene.

Quality of food was not good-we ordered Steak and it was very disappointing

What fantastic service we received from Stephanie. Very friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble for her. We had the Chefs board, Korean BBQ Chicken strips, Seafood grill, mixed grill, Cheese and Bacon Burger and the Haloumi Fries. It was all very nice and our only feedback would be that the Chefs board could come with a softer bread along with the golden ciabatta croûtes, as compared to other restaurants serving similar dishes, there was not a lot of bread for two people sharing and that made the cheese a bit over bearing. Stephanie's great service made this location get an excellent rating.

We finally managed a night out with our friends, the service from Jamie, Jenny and Danni was excellent, they couldn’t do enough for us. New specials are very tasty, I can recommend the seafood grill and the golden chocolate cheesecake. We will see you guys again very soon.

I have been coming to the royal oak for over 10 years and was utterly shocked at how Danny the assistant manager spoke to my friend and I. We were booked in for lunch at 13:00pm on the last Sunday in August. We were given a table next to the toilets and several other tables and when I asked if we could have a quieter table, of which several booths and other tables were free, I was categorically told they are all booked out and that the last table she had, she gave to a single man on his own, was a table for 4 people and she had just seated him, so I suggested that perhaps we could swap with him, and she rudely told me "no, I have just seated him, and he has ordered a drink" then she very rudely again informed me that there was nothing else free despite the empty tables, to the point that people were staring at us, so in the end I said in reply ok, calm down you don't need to be so rude. Tina one of the servers was also working and said if one becomes free she would let us know. Well, 2 booths remained empty for the total duration of our meal, and Tina did offer for us to move but we had already started our drinks so didn't want the upheaval and to be fair, we couldn't wait to get out of there. It was a very uncomfortable atmosphere and I am saddened to feel that I actually paid to be treated that way. I will say that Danny's appearance was not at all professional or someone who is front of house, she wore knee length denim shorts and an oversized polo shirt that wasnt even tucked in. In general, I feel that the overall standard of the venue, the service and atmosphere has changed for the worse. I will not be visiting again.

The number of serving and cooking staff was not sufficient. I can't blame the staff who were non stop. Question to the mgt, please resource appropriately.

Had a lovely dinner here this evening. Right from the welcome, the staff were very friendly, relaxed, and attentive. The food and drinks were served promptly with the food being well and delicious. Top marks to all the team, keep up the great work, and we look forward to returning soon.

Good vegan options, lots to choose from which is rare. The mushroom and ale pie is served with chips or roasted potatoes, broccoli, carrots, peas and a little jug of gravy. The apple tart was very nice and well presented. Good service, especially from Danielle.

Food and drink selection was good. Service was friendly but quite slow considering the pub wasn't too busy at the time we were there. We will be back again!

Oh I should have stayed here and had my food we just decided to have a drink here and go to The Foresters down the road for a meal what a bad regretful mistake! I will definitely come here soon. Cheers.Raj

A very nice pub restaraunt run by chef and brewer. Good food, well priced served by freindly staff. Nice choice of beers, wines and spirits. Lots of parking.

Had the signature burger and was one of the best burgers I’ve had really big and the burger was really good, as always the staff were brilliant especially Steph who served me, have been a few times before and will be going again.

Ate lunch there on the 31st July with a friend from Windsor. We both have upset stomachs this morning. I think hygiene might be an issue here. Definitely will not be going back.

First steak was gristly and chewy, it had to be sent back to the kitchen. Second steak was lovely. Why didn’t I get a good steak on my plate at the start. 😮 The waitress was excellent and very attentive.
