Royal Kitchen in Carmarthenshire

We have just had a birthday meal at Royal Kitchen. The food was delicious and the staff were very helpful and friendly. They even went to the trouble to bringing in our birthday cake and singing happy birthday. We had a memorable birthday meal there and would certainly love to go back again.

We moved to Ammanford 18 months ago and i was never a fan of chinese food before,but Royal kitchen has certainly changed my view!we have had several meals both eating in and take away and every single time it has been very,very good.the food is great,the staff very friendly and attentive and in these difficult times the value for money ,excellent.we have taken both friends and family who have visited us and they too have really enjoyed the Royal Kitchen experience.keep up the good work.

I went in at lunchtime to book for the evening and check vegan options. When I went back in the evening they remembered my name and welcomed me, remembered my dietary needs and ensured I had something delicious. Both of us felt at ease and enjoyed our meal. Another large table were having the set meal and there was lots of oohs and aahs when their platters were brought out. The plentiful staff were very proud of the food and attentive.

Fantastic food, we have friends staying and the food was exceptional. Everybody chose different dishes and they were all fabulous, staff friendly and the food came so quickly. can't fault anything

Rude, obnoxious and hurtful to my family member. Been going here for many years and never again. Train your staff in decorum and how to treat people with certain restrictive disabilities. Maybe stop asking for cash on ever call also ! 🤫

Went here recently with the wife, very disappointed with the meal and service, sent my chicken and black bean back as was disgusting, woman was very rude about changing the dish, then shocked when I wanted fresh rice with it, wanted me to keep the rice off the black bean plate. Not a nice place overall, very dated and smells damp. Will not return!

Friday night and it has to be a Chinese take away. As a HK resident my standards were high. Royal Kitchen did not disappoint. Good portions, well cooked and warm. A full menu of almost 200 dishes, including dishes not on your normal takeaway menu. All at a reasonable price. Good friendly service. Well done!

We have been to the restaurant for a couple of meals many years ago, and had a fine meal, and the place is well established in Ammanford, but our takeaway tonight was quite poor The special fried rice was stodgy and lacked flavour, the pancake rolls were like something from Iceland, the duck in plum sauce and lemon chicken were ok ish, but both quite chewy. All in all, a very underwhelming meal, unfortunately.

Really delicious food. Served in a lovely relaxed environment. Great warm, friendly service, with excellent advice as to what could and could not be consumed by a member of the party with Coeliacs Disease. We all had a really lovely evening and will go again soon.

Had a great lunch here on Sunday. Although the menu is limited there is still plenty to choose from. Staff are friendly and service is quick. We also had take away twice during our stay in Ammanford. Choice on this menu is unlimited. The order was ready when we went to pick them so no waiting and the food was hot. Defiantly one of the best Chinese restaurants we have visit. Recommend a visit if you are in Ammanford and want a great place to eat.

I was encouraged to see how busy this restaurant is and looked forward to really nice takeaway chinese. Sadly not so good. Although the portions are very generous and the quality of the ingredients seems good the food was disappointingly bland. We ordered the baked bean curd with salt, chilli and garlic. The bean curd was obviously good quality but oh! where had the flavour gone? No discernible chilli at all and not much salt and garlic either. The mixed vegetables with cashews in a yellow bean sauce was the same, lovely selection of vegetables but what had happened to the "oriental" accents that prevent it from just being stewed vegetables? The days when British people were afraid of a bit of an exotic "kick" are passed, lets have some zap in our food!

Lunch time visit which was excellent value. Two courses for £6.95. Plenty of choice. Excellent efficient friendly service. Hot tasty food. All staff wore masks and clearly marked one way system in place.

This is the best Chinese restaurant for miles. My family and I have visited regularly for years, and the food and service is always excellent. Considering how good it is, the prices are very reasonable too. There is a large car park, and inside it is suitable for everyone. I would highly recommend a visit.

Got a takeaway whilst near Ammanford and we were really happy with it. The food tasted fresh, and of a high quality. For a vegan, the vegetable fried rice with no egg is great as well as the salt and pepper beancurd, vegetable spring rolls...

Amazing autentic Chinese! not to sweet that you can taste sugar but sweet enough to be delicious! The crispy beef is outstanding and the prawns in the chow main were huge, the veg was fresh and the portions were huge. The service is awsome because...

I can’t believe how quick our food was served here. Good service, good beer, plenty of parking, nice food. They also have a two course special offer on from Sunday to Thursday evenings.

Tak & Christine run avreally nice restaurant with very good food. The set meals are plentiful & good value. The lunchtime specials are also very good.

I have never had a disappointing meal in the Royal Kitchen. The food quality is some of the best Ammanford has to offer. As far as sit in experiences in Ammanford, it easily sits amongst the top. The only issue with eating in this restuarant...

Came with the family. Can use the std menu or as we did the specials menu. A varied selection of starters and all different mains. Great tasty food served quickly but cooked fresh.

Been here twice recently on a Saturday for the businessman's set lunch. Both times I have been impressed with the food, the service and the restaurant itself. The restaurant is very warm and welcoming as is the staff. There is a wide choice of meals on the set menu, different to some other Chinese restaurants. The food is excellent, as is the service. The waitresses are very efficient and friendly. Well worth a visit. We will certainly be visiting again. One tip to the owners, get your web site sorted out as it is out of date.

Stopped here for a weeknight meal. Really good food, and great value for money especially with the weeknight offer. The staff were very friendly too. The place is nice and cosy, not modern but full of character. It was a little cold inside, but we still enjoyed our meal.

At trying every other Chinese takeaway locally, this has become my favourite and recently wowed family from outside the area.

Booked a table for Saturday evening meal. Delicious food and great menu to choose from. Had lovely evening and just surprised it wasn’t busier than it was. Takeouts seemed very popular from the restaurant however. Would recommend definitely as not much choice of restaurants in Ammanford. Will be visiting again soon!

Visited this restaurant on several occasions and eaten our way through most of the menu. On the whole it is generally very good but we have our favourites.

Just to say what a great meal we had on Wed night at the above restaurant, for my birthday.

We were very pleased, internally very nice but the exterior nearly stopped us going in. Nice entrance but roadside view not too good. The food was excellent with a great selection, excellent service and very good value. It was a chance visit as we were looking for a pub, but this is the best chinese/Cantonese meal we have had in the area. I would heartily recommend as good portions with good food.

Celebrated my birthday here and we were not disappointed. We ordered the crispy duck which was delicious followed by lychee and battered Banana. Lovely staff and restaurant spotless Added bonus as we don't like eating late they open at 5pm.

The business lunches on offer are excellent value but the evening deals are also very good. Great choice of food for both takeaway and dine in.

Called in because the car park looked busy and we wanted to see if others had found a good place to eat. Amazingly, two courses are a fixed £6.50 at lunchtime. Service was polite and food arrived quickly. Very tasty and authentic Cantonese, hot and generous portions. I had hot and sour soup, followed by pork chow mien Szechuan-yum! My wife had ribs with a sticky, spicy sauce then chicken, ginger and spring onion with rice, again it was good. The restaurant was clean, has a “5” hygiene rating and now, two new regular customers.

This used to be lovely but had a bad takeaway the past twice,tasteless curry with fatty chicken,burnt fried rice and cold hard chips won’t bother going again

Have enjoyed the food from Royal Kitchen for some time and were happy to see if re-open. The food is generally very nice, though some of the more recent meals have been a little bit of a let down. Last take away had a curry that tasted of nothing but curry powder and a chow-mein full of veg, which is how it normally comes but we’d specifically asked for no veg. Have also had some hit and miss service in the restaurant itself, with the wrong food being delivered and drinks not turning up. However, so long as the recent mistakes are not a sign of ongoing declining standards, would wholeheartedly recommend.

Our first visit since the Royal Kitchen reverted to a full restaurant was for the two course lunch which is less than £9 per person. Unlike other restaurants offering this type of lunch the menu although condensed from the full one contained ample variety of...

Starter ok though I have never had aromatic duck with dried out spring onion and cucumber! Dreadful main in jelly like gravy, other starter was just sweet and bland,

Very bland, all the dishes seemed to have the same gravy like sauce, can do better in my own kitchen

5 minutes outside of Ammanford town centre is The Royal Kitchen and it is well worth the effort. The interior is not your classic Chinese restaurant (I suspect it was a pub in a previous life but my hosts weren't sure). The service is attentive, polite and very efficient (including the charming younger staff). Despite our huge order, the food was served promptly and piping hot and it was absolutely delicious. Unsurprisingly for a Saturday night it got very busy and I hope this continues for it as it deserves all the success it can get.

Had a great dining experience and would definitely be going back! Served by a couple of young girls who were lovely had starters of spare ribs and satay chicken which were so nice and our main dishes of chicken curry and chicken with chilli was gorgeous! So nice to see this restaurant open again just down the road. Best Chinese ever

This is a pub, restaurant and takeaway. We've just finished our chicken curry, ribs, chips, crispy dick and egg fried rice. Got to say can't fault it. Tasty and highly recommended ..... And I'm fussy!

We had a lovely lunch on our way home from visiting family in Glanamman. We had a mixed starter and some curry samosas between us and then 4 main courses, all were very tasty.

Had lunch here last week, staff were excellent, food was outstanding, took my mother in her wheelchair, plenty of access, really enjoyable.

For years the people of Ammanford have always raved that the Royal Kitchen was amazing with the original team so when we heard they had reopened again we HAD to try it. I tried for almost an hour to get through but it was constantly engaged so we went down to order. The queue was out of the door to order takeaway so I wasn't holding out much hope of our food tasting nice as the restaurant was full and the takeaways were very busy too. We told it would be an hour, which I fully expected. On pick up it was still extremely busy so I didn't think the food would be up to scratch, but I was very wrong! We had the mixed hor d'oeuvres, pork fried rice, chips, chicken curry and prawn crackers. It was all divine!!! Definitely found a new takeaway fave in Ammanford! We've had it a few times since then and it's consistently scrummy!!!

We were frequent customers at this take away for years, and were disappointed when it closed. We tried a takeaway last night. Had beef satay, deep fried prawns with sweet and sour sauce with egg fried rice and prawn crackers. It was delicious, apart from the prawn crackers, which were thick and hard, they were not to our taste. The quality of the beef and prawns was superb and cooked to perfection. Would have given it a 5 star, but the portions were much smaller than we had prior to its closure. The price was however, comparable to what we paid a couple of years ago. We would have preferred a rise in the price, thus enabling the portion sizes to remain the same. This is just our opinion, and we still enjoyed the excellent food. Next time would order and extra dish. Would recommend it for its quality and flavour.

Their english is certainly better than my cantonese!!!i bet its the same for you!! They work very hard, Anyway Excellent as ever, great atmosphere, y kids have now grown up but loved going back here.!!! yes we had double the amount of chips and were missing a starter but hey ho! support local !!!!! Just had a take away meal, I am sorry but it has got to be one of the worst Chinese meal we have ever had , it has just changed back into a restaurant from a take away ? And also change hands.It was far better when the last people were there, so be aware you have been warned ,wound be using this place again .

The restaurant was empty so we approached with trepidation, but the service was excellent and the food fantastic. We felt the prices were very reasonable. Great place for a meal.

I really miss the sit down restaurant they had there. Always felt the food was better sitting down. However the take away food remains excellent. Lots to choose from. Handy it's on our doorstep

I pass the Royal KItchen frequently and knew the restaurant had closed but along with many others I have spoken with I was under the impression that it had closed completely. The proprietors could do a lot more to publicise the takeaway side of the business as the food is superb and is far superior to any of the other Chinese Takeaways in the area.I cannot add any more except to say that I have just ordered our evening meal with them. My mouth is watering at the prospect.

Real good Chinese take away. You cannot fault the set menus at all. Not too pricey and stunning food , always ready on time for when you collect.

On our recent return to Ammanford we were disappointed that the restaurant had closed since our previous visit.However the Chinese take away was one of the best we have ever had. Numerous choices and the portions are generous..Will definitely have another Chinese takeaway from here on our next visit.

This has always been a reliably good chinese takeaway, but recently they seem to have changed their chef and added an extra star to my review. The food has had added extra fresh vegetables which to me makes that extra taste that some takeaways miss.

Have been visiting this takeaway for just about a year now. Always very busy which is a good sign. Although I don't vary my choices very often there is plenty of choice and I can't fault any of the selections I have had. The girl who takes the orders is very efficient too.

I don't normally eat Chinese food but I totally love the food here, pity they don't do delivery I would order more often

Excellent food, always fresh and delicious. You don't have that chemical taste in your mouth after some Cantonese and Chinese take-aways. The service is amusing, there is one young grumpy girl who just does not want to be there but on a Saturday night it is quite amusing to watch her strop around while waiting for our take away! Definitely worth a visit, you won't be disappointed!

My boyfriend took me here for Valentines day this year and it was absolutely amazing and relatively cheap (£20pp, set menu) considering it was 3 courses on a day where every restaurant goes up in price . The staff were lovely and I can't wait to return!

Returned to this restaurant after a few years break, its still the best Chinese in the Swansea area. The choice is great with plenty of fish and veg options not found in other restaurants.Great staff too.Try it ... it may look like a pub on the outside but its just a disguise for the best food for miles.

I am a regular customer and have been for years, the food here is always lovely weither we eat in or take out! The only thing that lets it down is the service! Although I do have to point out that the more 'not very good english' speaking staff are very polite and always happy rather than the more fluent english speaking staff who are quite frankly rude!. I am not sure if she is the bar/restaurant manager but she always dresses in black.... she can be most rude to customers aswell as her staff! I have overheard her many times speaking to the staff appallingly! And can get quite 'huffy' with the customers if they proving to be asking for her help a lot! The owners are always very welcoming but most of the staff do tend to hang around and watch you eating (especially if its a quiet time and you're the only ones in there - like lunchtimes..)So on a whole I do most definitely recomend The Royal Kitchen for food, if only 'the manager' would perhaps attend a customer relations course and all staff could stop watching the customers to finish their food. This is the only reason it gets a 4* from me...

I was very pleasantly surprised. Very warm welcome, nice atmosphere and good service, always staff around when needed. Food was very nice but rather large portions, maybe to large.over all I was very pleased and would defenetly go there again for a good quality Chinese.

Dishes are top quality, exc service. Nice atmosphere. Book for new yr,, the staff made it great fun supplying fun items, sparkly wigs, poppers etc, i find the family very friendly, accommodating and supportive of local schools and clubs. Have taken my netball girls here and they have enjoyed alot. Never had bad meal! Not cheap, but u get what u pay for! I rate it very highly.
