Do not order delivery from this restaurant. Website states 80 minutes.We ordered at 5.30 at 7.30 we finally got someone to answer their phone to be told the website is incorrect . Eventually arrived at 8 !!

Too much classical rooms neat clean rooms

We ordered a takeaway, and it took 2 hours to arrive.....unacceptably long. The food was OK, but the tofu with vegetables and cashews was very bland- considering it was described as 'spicy'. We prefer the food at Kudos, and won't be ordering from The Royal Inn again.

Lovely, fresh, tasty food. Generous portion sizes at reasonable prices. Definitely recommend.

The food is very good but one of the women serving is extremely rude and has a bad attitude!!! Extremely rude woman she needs to loosen up. Everytime I come and I ask her questions she acts frustrated and annoyed that I’m asking a question? Makes me feel uncomfortable

Tonight was our first time eating at Royal Inn and I’d go as far as to say it’s the best Chinese food I’ve eaten in the UK. Everything is cooked fresh, perfectly seasoned and not overly salty, not gloopy or full of MSG. I love trying lots of different Chinese dishes but often end up leaving so much but here we finished everything. Not to say the portions are too small, just a perfectly balanced amount. The team are super friendly, especially the owner who took great pride (rightly so!) in telling us how her husband was freshly preparing everything. The wait time between courses was also spot on. The restaurant was quiet when we were visiting in January but it’s nicely decorated and the food and warmth of service is the real star of the show. Cant wait for our next visit!

This restaurant has gone down hill with quality of food and prices. It took so long for us to be served. They charged us nearly £4 for a tiny hoisin sauce, as my husband liked to dip his prawn crackers in this expensive sauce, as it is usually free in any chinese restaurant. We will never ever go to Royall Inn again. They even did not give us the right bill. Always check the bill if you dont want to be ripped off.

Ordered delivery on New Year's Eve, restaurant were happy to take the order but the food never turned up. Had a refund processed but nothing else was open by that point so rather pointless A shame as the food is normally great from this restaurant

It has been 4 years since we have been back to the UK and eaten at this restaurant which was always a favourite of ours. On the whole very happy with the experience again, and enjoyed almost all of the food. The only thing that was not as good was the chicken satay sauce for the starter. Other than that happy with the seaweed, crispy duck pancakes and prawns in sweet and sour sauce Hong Kong style.

Visited this restaurant, along with a friend, during a holiday in Canterbury. They offer an extensive menu including a number of vegetarian options. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area. The staff were also friendly and efficient and mentioned that all sauces are homemade which was noticeable from the taste. 👍

Went here today for dinner with my partner for the first time and we were extremely happy with everything. The food was piping hot and all came out at once. The spring rolls and pork dumplings were handmade and the freshest we've had. The staff made multiple checks to see if everything was ok for us and we had a lovely conversation with the owner after dinner. I would 100% recommend the Kung Po chicken. The portion sizes were really good and we will definitely be regular customers here now.

This is still the ONLY Chinese restaurant we will visit. All homecooked food. Lovely people. But in life, it seems in the reviews you cannot please everybody. However, I must say over the years we have eaten here we have NEVER had any issues and our family love going when they visit the area.

The staff's attitude is extremely poor, especially the female in charge, extremely disrespectful, acting as if they were emperors, being rude to customers, and the food quality is only average.

The best Chinese food all around Canterbury. Not too salty, oily or sweet. I hate it when all Chinese food is made either bland or too sweet. This one hit the spot just right. And Alice, the owner made us feel at home. It felt like being in someone's living room and family taking care of you. Definitely going back for more. We had Hong Kong style Prawn, Hot Pot Rice, Hot and Sour Soup and Garlic Chilli Tofu. Everything was cooked fresh and tasted fresh and piping hot. Also, I am vegan so they veganised everything for me. What a winner!!

We found this treasure of a Chinese restaurant by accident when visiting Canterbury for the first time last year. It is located just outside the city walls only a few minutes walk from the Cathedral in a charming area called Longport. The menu has everything you would expect. We had crispy duck followed by a lamb and a chicken dish, rice and Chinese tea. The quality of the food is first rate and the service is very attentive. Prices are very reasonable - our meal came to just over £20 a head including service.

Great food as always and great staff. Absolute favourite. We know we're always going to get tasty food and a prompt service. Love all the peeps there

We have just had a really excellent dinner at the Royal inn. The Lady hosting was amazingly friendly and so great with our two young kids. The food was delicious, really fresh, tasty and in good portions. The toffee bananas were out of this world, I have never tasted anything lile them. Really a fantastic find. I am so disappointed about Royal lnn’s takeaway. I ordered at 6:30pm, but you even hadn’t started to cook at 8:00. If you cannot handle the takeaway please don’t do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Be careful they charge you even for oil chilli. When I asked for the bill, the owner gave me a handwritten paper showing only a total sum without any details of food prices.

A lovely malasian family (i believe) run this place, it’s apsolutely super. The food is amazing, i’ve been here probably close to 10 times now both before and after covid with my family, my bf, his family and it doesn’t disappoint! Super tasty, i love the beef stone hotpot as it comes out sizzling but really everything on the menu is fabulous. Definitely worth a try for a birthday or special occasion with family and friends.

I visited this beautiful restaurant with my 3 close friends yesterday. We had an amazing time, the food was absolutely amazing and fresh. The noodles are completely different to any we had experienced before, they were thin and so flavourful. The staff were lovely and so accommodating. We felt so welcome, and felt like we could have conversation with the staff. It was an amazing experience and we will 100% be returning soon.

Food very tasty and could tell it was home cooked not greasy at all , good sizes each dish . Service was steady with know rush with very polite waitress with time to talk and explain dishes . Nice big restaurant room but a bit sparse could be a bit more cosy and table cloths with music but maybe due to people not eating out so often . Overall a very nice experience with a family run restaurant.

Lovely place goooood food and the hostess was especially friendly

Not our local Chinese, but close enough and I'd rather drive here due to quality of the food. The food is not always jammed in the boxes like other places, but I was told the father of the family makes his own sauces from scratch and everything does taste fresh. We often go and sit/dine inside and sit for a change to alleviate the boredom with making dinner for picky kids. But we also have take out which is always nice. Chicken Chow mein a favourite. I mark it down a star as the decor/lack of music could be a bit more welcoming.

When calling and speaking to management, they called all of us liars when trying to complain to them!!! Awful customer service, will NOT be going back and NOT ever recommended. Beyond disappointed.

As someone who recommended this place to friends, for it to arrive an hour and a half late and be stone cold, I’m not only embarrassed but hungry. The woman I spoke to would only refund me if I repackaged all the food and had it picked back up- I was happy for this to happen! She was so unbelievably rude that I won’t be ordering from then again, which is a shame as a regular customer.

Really unimpressed with my Chinese takeaway tonight. I ordered chicken satay skewers as part of a dish. It was processed chicken and the satay sauce was awful. I had it with special fried rice and nothing was special about it. There were minimum prawns and hardly any other items that special rice should have, bland is an understatement, really disappointed with the food which used to be great. The chow mein was bland too. The only thing I ate was the prawn crackers. I write this review so others don’t fall shy with the cost of it…

The taste is OK. But the flavors and ingredients of some dishes are too strange for me as a Chinese. If you want traditional Chinese flavor, you'd better check with the manager before ordering.

Lovely! Good food and service, reasonable prices. Minor moan - no Zero alcohol beer. A shame when every other restaurant has several!

The food was good the dim sum was missing any sauce though and 10% service charge is added to bill. Good that there was fresh vegetables in the food and they were served nice and hot like literally just cooked.

We had the takeaway for dinner. The food is just passed, the portion is a bit less when compared to other takeaway. The prawn crackers is not crunchy and we can taste the oil used is not fresh enough.

I visited Royal Inn for the first time last night with my partner and his parents. They’ve been many times (and often sing it’s praises!). Everything was delicious and incredibly fresh. Plenty of options for vegetarians too. I ordered mini vegetarian spring rolls, hot and sour soup, vermicelli Singapore noodles and tofu in a garlic and chilli sauce. The flavours were rich & fresh, with the perfect balance of spice to enhance than overwhelm. One of the best Chinese restaurants I’ve been to, if not the best. Look forward to returning soon!

Good food and service, but watch fir the 10% service charge added to your bill! We saw 3 people offer a tip, which was accepted with a smile, even though 10% is compulsary on the bill!

From start to finish, a welcoming smile, very friendly, attentive, nothing was too much trouble. The food was beautifully presented, fresh, colourful and cooked to perfection. It was the best Chinese food ever, you really need to visit if you haven’t already! It was such a wonderful experience the ambiance very relaxed it was that good we returned the following evening!! While having a weekend away in Canterbury, we decided we wanted Chinese, and after a few searches decided on here, not disappointed, lovely food, friendly staff and the whole place was lovely and clean, definitely visiting again if back in Canterbury.

Me and my wife came to Canterbury for one day trip from London and we choose Royal Inn restaurant for dinner. What a fantastic restaurant!!! Food is absolutely amazing, prices really affordable, customer service very friendly, we had a nice chat with a girl named Chris, everything was outstanding!!! I will definitely come back!!! Best Chinese takeaway I've had in Canterbury. Ordered a couple of times now on their website and food arrived quickly, hot and fresh. The food was tasty, well seasoned, non-greasy, and there are plenty of veggie options. The homemade spring rolls are particularly good. This will be my new regular.

Ordered for delivery. Everything came fresh and hot, and relatively quick delivery. I was surprised by the serving sizes, considering other Chinese takeaways have huge servings for a cheaper price. Flavours were ok, probably would go for chow mein if I order again.
