Had 2 fabulous meals here, a very good, varied menu. Great staff, service, atmosphere and location.

Booked an 80th birthday party & the hotel staff could not have done more. The food, drinks & service were superb. Thank you 🙏🏻 Highly recommend

Hotel situated in the centre of Kirby Lonsdale. Food and service good, friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. Individual type shops nearby and a lovely walk alongside the river.

Called in mid afternoon and had some food and drinks with friends. Great service and nice food well presented. Recommended.

We stayed at this lovely hotel .room 10 was very clean, and the shower was hot and just want was needed after a day out . Brilliant place to stay and have wander around the village .very good places to eat and have a drink and meal out . Breakfast was excellent and varied . Couldn't fault it . Will be back .

Lovely decor but underused place, right in the centre of town. Great food, served promptly and in a relaxed atmosphere. Ate here twice during our stay. Advertises pizza as its mainstay, but it's so much much more. Great views from the restaurant and the snug is a lovely place to relax after your meal for a cognac. Nice restaurant manager and has the correct attitude to service. Will be back and enjoy its facilities. We didn't stay, but the restaurant is a boon.

Beautiful old hotel with public bar and restaurant, dog friendly, real fire in snug, perfect for a warm drink on a cold Sunday before Christmas. Bar/restaurant area combines retro modern with traditional grandeur. Relaxed and welcoming. Didn’t stay overnight but from the website rooms look fantastic too, definitely worth a splurge for a special weekend away, we will be back.

Stayed (still staying) for the weekend. Check in took 15 mins, only finally managed to achieve it after asking at the bar if somebody wouldn’t mind. I’d been walked past and ignored a few times by then. Food last night was poor, tonight I have waited 25 mins and still not been able to order, Chinese takeaway in my room may be the answer.

Having travelled all day we decided to get a takeaway pizza for Saturday's evening meal. With at least one former italian takeaway having closed in the area we decided to buy from the Royal Hotel. The online menu didn't completely reflect whatvghe currently offered so we had to change our choices on telephone ordering but otherwise was ok and we were given a pickup time. We walked down the road to pick up at the allotted time to be told it would be ready in 5 minutes. The brasserie was busy inside so not a problem and we had a little walk and came back. Five further minutes and we had our pizza and garlic bread.On arriving home we were pleased to see it was authentic Italian crust, nice and thin, crisp and chewy! The toppings were all excellent, our favourite being the spicy warmth of the cacciatore although the garlic bread and margherita were equally as good. Silence while we ate, thoroughly enjoying this local home cooked slice of Italy.Great food, well cooked, friendly and warm service, what's not to like?

Thoroughly enjoyable evening!! The staff at The Royal went that extra mile to make our evening rather wonderful. They accommodated our preferences, and did so with a smile. The service was brilliant and attentive, respecting social distancing etc. We felt very comfortable. The food was delicious, tasty and devoured. A burger fit for Royalty, freshly made pizza and the Festive cod dish went down a treat. A huge thanks to the Royal Team.

Back for the second year running for a couple of nights at half term. Having been a little worried about returning to somewhere we’d enjoyed so much the year before - we needn’t have been concerned, it was yet again fantastic! What’s there not to like? Open fires, fab food, amazing staff, sumptuous bedrooms...I could go on. Special mention for Dave/David who’s just brilliant, friendly, attentive and fantastic in his role. We know a lot of “James’s Places” and enjoy them a lot but this one is a real gem. Wishing all the team well at this difficult time - can’t wait to return.

Visited here for an evening meal while on holiday. Was greeted by the friendly staff. Good atmosphere to the place and good choice in drinks and food. Meal itself was good and service was great also it was dog friendly. Worth a visit.

My husband and I stayed for 1 night in room 2. It was a beautiful room with a really comfortable bed. Slipper bath was fab.The service we received throughout our stay was excellent. There was a strong sense of team spirit which was great to see. Jo, Rebecca, Tom, David and Bethany worked so hard to keep everyone safe and happy. Our food both at dinner and breakfast was delicious. The Royal hotel has a wonderful atmosphere and it was the perfect place to start our holiday in The Lakes. Thank you to everyone for making us so welcome. We shall definitely recommend.

I was apprehensive about coming here after reading the reviews that other customers had left. I was pleasantly surprised. The waitress was lovely, great atmosphere, great selection of drinks and food to a high quality.

We stopped here on our way beck from Yorkshire, ordered afternoon tea, really fantastic, completely different to what we had been eating for the last few days, there was so much we asked could we take some of the cakes home!Again taking the situation seriously and took every precaution possible!

We stayed at The Royal Hotel for our wedding anniversary .. the staff are very helpful and professional .. our room was spacious, clean and well kitted out .. the service at the hotel was first class given the situation at the moment.If you like a good pint of beer, you will be pleased with the selection on offer .. the breakfast was superb and available up to 10:00am and just the ticket as we don't do early mornings.The Royal Hotel is smack bang in the middle of all the other places to eat, drink and shop in Kirkby Lonsdale making that a big thumbs up .. I have no problems in recommending this as a place to stay .. top marks people .. keep up the great work.

Stayed for one night at the Royal on recommendation of a friend. From the the lady on reception when we first arrived who was very friendly and helpful to all the staff we encountered were extremely friendly and pleasant and we should not forget that these people are working in very challenging times for our enjoyment. We had lunch and dinner at the hotel and the food was lovely and well presented. The hotel exterior is a very impressive building and the inside is just as impressive. Tables had to be booked due to covid but and all the precautions were being taken. For our evening meal we were on table one which is at the rear of the restaurant so you could see all what was going on during the evening I watched a young man who was called Tom he was serving cleaning tables bringing drinks he never stopped nothing was to much trouble for him. He went round to all the tables on a regular basis asking if everyone was ok and did they need anything and explaining the new rules regarding closing times. After we had finished our meal and drinks I had to mention to him that he was a credit to the hotel and I am sure he will go far in the hospitality business. So to the manager of the hotel I hope you thank your staff for an enjoyable short stay at your lovely hotel.

A great place to be from the JamesPlaces family. We ate and had several drinks the food was lovely. In the challenging times as we are in the staff were attentive. Our main waitress was in her first night, and she did very well. But not our first visit and shall not be the last.

Possibly worst experience I have ever had whilst eating out!Its that bad I don't even know where to start. We have travelled up from Liverpool to spend the weekend with family and thought it would be nice to book somewhere for something to eat as a nice treat.Firstly we where shown to our table, then to be told someone will be back to take our drinks order. Which we 10-15 minutes for! We then ordered our drinks and then waited a further 25 -30 minutes for the drinks to be brought to us! Once we had received our drinks, we then were asked what we would like to eat. So we placed our order and then the nightmare continued...Roughly 40 minutes had passed, so we decided to find out where our food was. Bare in mind my son who is 9 was with us and was starting to get very hungry!Our second round of drinks where brought to our table, and we had asked for the manager.The manager came to our table and rudely asked "what was the problem", which we weren't happy about one bit! He had no idea what was going on, and then decided to ask us what we would like to eat and that he would bring menus over!!! To our shock we could not believe what we were hearing!!! AND still no apology from the manager who just repeatedly told us he didn't know what was going on! They had no idea what had happened to our food order, how unprofessional is that... We were amazed, how could our order go missing!Along with the very rude and unprofessional woman who took our food order he decided to try and blame the new starter along with trying to blame covid. Which only made things worse as a family of 6 came in after us and got there food and meals finished before had been given our second round of drinks and still no food!! Along with many more people.The new starter had nothing to do with the issues we experienced, it mainly from the girl who took our food order which then somehow seem to go missing...We were treated like outsiders, made to feel very uncomfortable, and the service was truly shocking and that's putting it nicely!! We were really looking forward to this but felt really let down, and we will never return again... Oh and they lost my sons order for a glass of milk!!!!!Would I recommend this place to anyone???? NO... NOT EVEN MY WORST ENEMY...

Very Poor Stayed for one night. typical kids on basic wage haven't got a clue run round like numptiesI went to car for my bags staff member let door shut in my face. Dirty tables not cleaned. Room 9 kettle cable does not reach the floor so when you lift kettle off. Say good bye to base of kettle gone down back of drawers£120 a night taking the Mick go to a B&B or a better hotel.Ps sat in bed trying to watch TV BBC no signal. Definitely will not stay here again Kiby Lonsdale not as good as it used to be to be shops closed Boring

We booked a table 2 weeks ago and were met by the maître d’ and were shown our table. The table would have been fine had we been there for a drink but for a meal, it was low and we were sat in bucket seats. Obviously, we asked to be moved and were shown to a table in a small side room in which the staff came in one at a time for their break which made it feel as though we were eating in the staff room. I ordered a steak at £23 expecting something special - it wasn’t. The menu is very ordinary for the best placed hotel in Kirkby Lonsdale. A member of staff came in while we were eating and polished the surrounding furniture instead of sanitising it. There was no provision made to make it a covid safe environment apart from table sanitising. We were glad to get out of the place and certainly won’t be returning unless and until someone gets a grip of the staff.

Last Saturday with the restrictions easing, Pat and I decided to go out for our first meal since lockdown started.Upon booking we were reassured that social distancing and all safety measures were in place and that our visit should be the same as before or very similar.Upon arrival we could see that we would be isolated a bit but not out of the way, and everything was relaxed in these difficult times.Our meals and drinks were top quality and it wasn’t too pricey either.The staff were helpful and courteous as well as obliging throughout.We have booked another visit this weekend and hope to get back to our normal routine again.Very good to all the staff at The Royal for making their customers feel welcome and comfortable with eating out in these difficult times.

Stayed at the Royal on reopening on the 4th July and had a wonderful stay. Lovely building, accommodation, food and drink. Most of all lovely welcoming staff. Well done to the team there and so glad you are back. Thanks very much. Jon & Frances.

We visited this pub as it was close to our Airbnb. It’s a gorgeous place but has a really nice relaxed atmosphere and it was our favourite pub in Kirkby Lonsdale to enjoy a few drinks :0)

Good friendly service and tasty food well presented. Plenty of choice of menu with generous portions. Like the decor and pleasant atmosphere. Children and dog friendly.

We went to the Royal for an evening meal with 4 children. With my son having severe food allergies it’s always a worry for me eating out but from the moment I spoke with Jo on the phone i knew this wasn’t going to be a problem. Jo was very helpful and kindly offered to make my son an alternative. The food was lovely and the service was great we will be eating here again soon Thankyou all !

We visited the royal on a Tuesday evening with friends on the excellent value 50/50 offer . After an excellent afternoon in the village we took our seats at our pre booked candle lit window table . The menu is typical pub fare with a bit of something for everyone. The portions are generous so we skipped starters and shared nibbles olives and chippollata sausages. The mains fish and chips for two the beef and ale pie and a pizza were all declared delicious. The very efficient and friendly staff made for a great evening.

Normally love this place for coffee and lunch when in Kirkby Lonsdale, 4 of us eventually got served coffee this morning which was tepid at best. my wife went back to the bar, but the FIVE girls behind the bar were busy chatting. We ended up leaving and finding an establishment with attendant staff and hot coffee. Maybe the Royal is ready for a staff shake up?

The service was good, but the food was only of average quality for the price. Nice to have a choice of vegetarian dishes on the main menu. The vegan menu looked more interesting, but we only discovered this after we had eaten.

This is a fantastic looking/feeling establishment, that has the potential to be real top drawer in every aspect.We did not stay, but having eaten here during a relatively busy Saturday lunch service I can say that the service can be slow (we had to remind the waitress about our first drinks order) and the quality of the food does not reflect the fact that this is the most expensive pub/bar establishment in Kirkby Lonsdale. Also my partner had fish and chips, which we strongly suspect was cooked from frozen, not fresh.There is better quality home cooked food for less in KL.

Stayed here a couple of times now - they do great deals. Great stay as usual. Staff helpful and breakfast is delicious. This time we did the 50/50 deal so ate both nights in the restaurant. Food was really good - especially the lamb which was apparently so good my husband ordered it both nights. We’ll be back.

We ate at the Royal and having a daughter who is vegetarian and lactose intolerant, it was a joy to find somewhere that had put thought into a menu. Rather than being faced with the usual veggieburger and curry options. Atmosphere good and allows dogs in, especially as weather was dreadful

Stayed with 8 people and had an evening meal, booked the round table which made the eating experience very sociable, all the meals we had were excellent, no complaints from any of the party. Would definitely eat there again, staff very very friendly and attentive, overall spot on, thank you

Visited late afternoon on New Years evening on the off chance

We ate at the Royal Hotel whilst on holiday in Kirkby Lonsdale! My brother in law ordered lamb shank which stated on the menu,came with Lyonnaise potatoes and pickled red cabbage! When it arrived it was indeed a lamb shank sitting in a bowl of gravy with pieces of potatoes floating around it! The pickled red cabbage arrived in a miniscule container and that was his meal which cost £19.90! He asked where the Lyonnaise potatoes were and the waitress didn't appear to know what they were! When asked if everything was ok he said no! It was not as described in the menu and in his opinion was poor value for money; the staff response was simply a shrug of the shoulders! My friends meal was ordered as bloomer bread with 3 kinds of cheese costing £8.95- this in actual fact was a slice of white bread with toasted cheese and a small amount of leafy salad!!

This quality of the room are good. Nice bathrooms and toiletries. It’s in an excellent position. Right near lovely shops, pubs and restaurants. I was worried about parking before I went however there is ample parking in the market across the road and just up the street. You do have to pay but it’s not overpriced. If you park between certain hours it’s free. The food was good I had evening meals and breakfasts. Not overpriced. Nice atmosphere down stairs in the bar restaurants. The only thing I would say is the staff service was at times was mixed. On some occasions during my stay it was average and on other occasions not great, at other times it was good. It just depended on which staff were on.

Worth a visit, we enjoyed a lovely evening in the hotel. My partner and myself ordered food from the menu and my partner enjoyed hers but mine was not as good as I was expecting. This was immediately put right by the hotel manager who reimbursed with the cost of the meal. Great customer care and service, I would hearty recommend this venue.

I have Crohn’s disease and the public toilets were out of order and went to use the toilets in the hotel. I was working at the Christmas Market in the square opposite the hotel. The manager Damian, shouted across the hallway are you in just to use the toilet or are you a customer which I responded yes and proceeded. I went back to speak to him afterwards and explained that I had Crohn’s disease and that it is a disability that is not obvious and that I couldn’t use the public toilets. He didn’t care and said that I wouldn’t be happy if I came for something for free from my stand. I am staying in Kirkby and had planned to come in for drinks after work and had considered coming back to stay once the Christmas season is over. How ignorant can one person be even after I explained to him!!! What other people with disabilities do you treat like this? Did he not consider that the town is busier because of the Christmas market not just now but because people have enjoyed themselves that they would come back. I will also be flagging you to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation. I have never had this response ever when I have explained my condition. But his response says an awful lot about him as a person. #notamerrychristmas

Amazing Christmas decorations The hotel is very warm and welcoming offering something for everyone from cozy lounge areas to a lively open bar area.

We booked a table around a month in advanced for 7.30pm. Arriving on the dot we were told that another group were still sat at our table and so we were asked to wait at the packed extremely noisy bar until our table became available. We waited for 25 minutes after our reservation time, to be told that our table was finally free. When we arrived at the table the source of the problem became obvious- the previous occupants had been booked on the table from 6.15pm and so there hadn't been enough time for them to finish their meal before we arrived.

Our evening meal was served promptly and chosen from a long and wide choice on their menu. Good beer good food and good company - what more do you need.

Just had another fantastic stay at the royal hotel ! Amazing room beautiful decor and a sunken bath wow !! It’s our 3 stay at the Royal an we will be back again ! Super friendly staff an awesome tasty breakfast can’t recommend the royal enough and looking forward to coming back again soon

Stayed over at The Royal on a one night DBB offer (we tried for two nights but the hotel was full). Welcomed warmly by David and reserved our table for dinner (you must do this ....the tables are quickly filled by residents and locals alike).

I love the Royal it’s stylish without being too posh. I stayed here for three nights recently. Nothing to grumble about really. Just one little niggle cos I was asking for something out of the ordinary. I asked for a packed breakfast cos we were going out early before the start of service. I got one bacon sandwich. Mmmm.

Visited with my family, three kids aged 9, 6 and 18 months. After struggling to get through the busy doorway with a pram, we had no idea whether we were meant to be seated and no staff were around to ask, so we had to sit wherever we could until fifteen minutes later someone came along and offered us a more suitable table.

Thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant.

We have stopped here for coffee and also for lunch and suppers on occasion. Every time it has been good quality and is comfy and well organised. Pizzas good but chips could be better

Visited this hotel during a music festival in the town during the summer. Well kept building with a nice clean decor. We tried to book a table for ten to eat lunch but the place was full. Had some drinks and enjoyed the surroundings. Would return.

Stayed here for a th birthday party with a group of friends. We had walked out of Whoop Hall due to the very rude manager and lucky to get a room here. The staff were very pleasant and couldn´t do enough for you, bedroom was fantastic and excellent food.

The room was absolutely perfect. Three windows overlooking the square.it gave you all you wanted and more. The staff were lovely and friendly. The bathroom was spacious and proved all the bits needed for a shower. We ate at the hotel, after visiting various hostellries. A good choice . The food was delicious. The breakfast was really good as well. Can't wait for our next visit.

Whilst visiting Kirkby Lonsdale, we decided to have lunch at The Royal Hotel. The staff were courteous, helpful and obliging. The service was excellent. The menu catered for all tastes and the quality and presentation of the food was superb. Seven of us dined and the final bill was extremely reasonable for what we had experienced. Pleasant surroundings in a picturesque part of the country.

I brought my wife here for her birthday and stayed one night dinner bed and breakfast.

Very nice refurbishment. Whitebait was delicious. All our mains were very good. Pizza fish and chips and hot beef sandwich. Will be back.

We stopped off here for lunch whilst shopping in Kirkby Lonsdale. I ordered pizza with a side of chunky fries my partner had fish and chips and he went for the large portion. The food was an excellent standard really impressed and looked as good as it tasted. Portions really meant that we could have had the pizza and chunky chips as a shared meal! Fish and chips was very large too! Luckily the pizza I could not eat was boxed up to take home. The staff where friendly and helpful and very pleasant. We have been to Kirkby Lonsdale many times and walked past many times wont be passing by again! Coffee was good too, all in all a pleasant experience.

We visited Kirkby Lonsdale on Easter Sunday and booked a Sunday Lunch at this very grand Hotel in the heart of the Village. We had to wait a couple of hours but with so much to see, the time went very quickly. However, the wait was worth it!! The Sunday Roast really was the most delicious we had ever eaten and the price of £17.95 for two courses was fabulous value for money. Would highly recommend!!

Enjoyed a coffee break here whilst walking round Kirby Lonsdale. Takes dogs too which was important as we had three with us!! Pleasant staff...good service and delicious scones!!

Stayed on Good Friday for one night for what will be the first of many visits to this brilliant hotel. We loved the decor and finish inside, room was also finished to an excellent standard. Staff very friendly and efficient. We ate in the bar which did not disappoint, menu choice was excellent and we had a lovely meal. Breakfast was also excellent. Seriously could not fault this hotel - one of the best we have stayed in for a very long time, can’t wait to return!!

We reserved a table for 4 as it’s gets very busy and I’m not surprised because the food was excellent . A good menu with plenty of choice and plenty of Gluten free options as it’s all cooked fresh so they can adjust dishes. We will return but we will stay here as well as they do some good offers. Recommend

Stayed at the Royal Hotel in Kirby Lonsdale for the first time in 7th April 2019. The hotel, rooms, restaurant, bar and food were all really good. Staff were great too. Only reason didn’t score it as excellent was that’s it’s quite a noisy hotel and parking is expensive. Enjoyed, will definitely come back.

My wife and I often call in here for coffee or lunch. This morning we called in for coffee, one of the new staff members didn't give us eye contact nor did she say please or thank you. This level of service spoilt our visit and has led to us deciding to cancel a meal with friends here on Friday night. We felt so unwelcome and we were not alone as another customer made a similar comment to us. Customer service is CRUCIAL, and with the amount of competition in Kirkby Lonsdale one would have assumed staff were trained?

WOW!! What an absolutely divine experience at this wonderful Hotel & Restaurant! We thoroughly enjoyed every moment there from walking in to leaving and look forward to returning soon!!!! Xxxx

We popped in for a cuppa and scone. Wonderful hot scone with buttery cream and lovely pot of jam with fresh strawberries....best we’ve had! Decided to then take ourselves into the cosy back room and had a lovely never ending glass of wine in front of log fire.... what a way to spend a lazy afternoon.....excellent!

Last Sunday a few friends and myself went to Kirkby Lonsdale for lunch. The decor is lovely and The Royal is cosy and comfy.We had rather a long wait for our food, and nobody came to apologise. The members of our party who chose not to have a starter had to wait over an hour to get anything to eat! We would have had puddings and coffee but had no time as our car park ticket was up.Also the soft drinks were rather overpriced. I would go again but make sure I have time to spare!

We had a meal in the snug, which was great as we had a dog. Very cosy room with an open fire and comfy seating. The whole place had been restored very well.

As described before, we eat at the Royal Hotel fairly often. The restaurant is good and the staff very friendly and helpful. What annoys us us being charged extra for a little jug of cold milk to go with a cup of coffee.. I did complain to the owners last year and received an email saying the situation would be reviewed and the menu adjusted.

Visited for lunch with friends and really enjoyed both the food and surroundings. The venue is large and spacious with very pleasant and comfortable dining areas. The menu is adequate without being overly extensive and the quality of food was very good. We will return.

Loved our stay at this hotel. Been before great atmosphere and stayed in Room 1 which I could not fault. Breakfast lovely and nothing too much trouble for the staff when askjng. Lovely to doggies too.

We usually visit Kirby Lonsdale once or twice a year. there are a handful of nice pubs serving good food and quality beer: this is one of them. Always welcoming and accommodating. Well worth a visit imho.

Everything about this place is fantastic. The food is great, the service is always above and beyond and that's why we keep coming back.

Lovely meal with 8 friends, we had to pre order our meal, which wasn't a problem, nothing specific gluten free on menu, but was able to ask for gluten free bun for burger and and adapt other dishes on request, overall good food,served quickly in a nice setting, would go again but advise booking, as was very busy,a good sign!?

A proper Sunday dinner, faultless and you can have the two course or three course deal. Good service and atmosphere, could happily come here every Sunday but as we enjoy the food so much we frequent during the week too.

Very nice freshly made pizza margherita with extra mushrooms for lunch with some excellent local bitter. Tuna Niciose Salad was however a little disappointing as the fresh Tuna was slightly overcooked (medium instead of Rare as requested).

Had a refreshing pint with my wife in this great looking bar. Staff were very friendly and the place was very busy. Wish I could have stayed for a few more....

Afternoon tea very expensive for what you get. Two small finger sandwiches each sausage roll Couple of pastries piece of cake and scone. I have had an afternoon tea just last week 5 quarter sandwiches cup of soup pork pies quiche and a massive scone with jam and cream for a lot less money and much tastier.

Had the worst ploughmans lunch with a portion of chips ever and it cost in excess of £20. The guy blamed the pitza oven for the dried up bread. The pork pie would not have been sold as any supermarket basic range. Never again.

We stayed at Oak Cottage just 2 minutes walk from the Royal and booked a table for 4 people for 8.30. Unfortunately a large party from earlier in the evening had stayed longer than expected and our table was not available so an alternative was offered which was right in front of the main bar, thankfully a better location became free and we sat next to the window elevated slightly from the bar area. I last second change to my order meant I had a fantastic Pizza and chunky chips.

Very nice fish and chip lunch with some excellent local bitter followed by some very acceptable puds. Service was very good too.

This centrally located hotel must have been the premier one to stay in in former days then needed refurbed which has happened as it is comfortable and smart inside with a modern menu.We had the early dinner deal where you must order before 7 pm and it was excellent as was the service and wine

Lovely place to have drinks . On Saturday night it’s busy and good atmosphere! Food is outstanding too ! Will return !

lacking atmosphere. Disorganized and very average. Waited a long time for our food and despite booking a table for four were given a large scratched table for six or seven. Boring food should have gone elsewhere

We were taking a friend out for an EARLY evening meal …. The orginal member of staff who was to take our order just forgot us, a rather disconcerted waiter showed up eventually and we pointed this out - no apologises just took the order. returned with cutlery - which he slid across the table at our friend - needs to be trained on how to place and serve - even though mature. 45 minutes passed - the waiting staff passed - didn't pick on any body language - looks as they passed , hand on cheek - claock watching - didn't come over and see if we were OK ...one member of staff (in charge) drinking coffee, young member of staff stood twiddling the ends of her long hair and was serving food after that activity...

Staff were a bit “scatty” and we found ourselves laughing at them rather than with them, as a selection of them forgot which table they were serving and which day it was ?!?

On a busy August Bank Holiday Sunday afternoon, most places would struggle to keep churning out consistently excellent food from the kitchen. Not this place!

Having been critical of The Royal in the past I’m pleased to say that a recent family outing for lunch was a very pleasant surprise. The service was wonderful and the waiter had the foresight to ask for the kitchen to prepare our three year old’s meal as soon as possible so that the meal could cool down slightly before she took her time over her meal. All five of us thoroughly enjoyed our food.
