One of the best fisheries in Whitby! Literally a hidden gem. As seen is a delicacy you have to try! The battered pineapple (fritter) with sweet chilli sauce. Also seen is a small and regular fish & chips.

You won’t get fresher or tastier fish & chips in Whitby & I’ve been coming here for years- it’s always consistent. These people go to great lengths to get the freshest fish available, which isn’t easy nowadays.

Although I've had many a tray of fish, chips and curry sauce from the takeaway of a Thursday Biker's night in Whitby, this was my first time dining in at the Royal Fisheries. I found the Small Cod Yorkshire Meal deal was perfect for my appetite on a mid winter's lunch time. The food was beautifully cooked and prepared and hats off to the 'front of house staff' who were particularly professional, attentive and friendly, a credit to the restaurant.

What a great place! The best fish and chips we've had in years. Friendly team serving, great service and even wheelchair friendly. And about 1 minutes away from the train station:-)

Forget The Magpie and Trenchers - this is the place for honest fish and chips in Whitby. Enjoy the old fashioned way with buttered bread and a pot of Yorkshire tea. There are signs that it too is sidling over to the dark side like its more famous competitors by introducing aperitifs and wine with your fish lunch My advice is take advantage of the quality of the food before Negronis appear on the menu!

Disappointing meal from what used to be a great fish and chip shop, fish batter was soggy and the chips where cut too thin. Filled a spot at the time but they could do better considering the competition in the town.

Excellent food, excellent service, the large Haddock and chips with mushy peas would easily serve two. The prices were also very reasonable. Very quick service during there busy Whitby Goth Weekend. Will be using again next time we are in town. Shame it's not our local.

Excellent quality fish and chips! Service was great and we caught them at a quiet time which meant quick food. Good drinks selection which complements the notably high quality food. I highly recommend the grilled seabass, treat yourself and get chips with the salad you won't be disappointed!

With 22 fish and chip shops (apparently) in Whitby, including 5 claiming to be "officially the best,"it was a difficult choice. I was not disappointed as the small haddock was ample for me. It is very tasty and friendly staff 😋 .

Great fish and chips. Lovely crisp batter and proper hand cut crinkle chips. The other half had sea bass which he said was gorgeous. Service was really good, I ordered a small cod and they even offered to do me more fish if I was still hungry! The on site bar has a limited but well curated choice of drinks.

We have a caravan in whitby so use the Take away often however with the rain this morning suddenly catching us out we decided to dine in , what a surprise great friendly staff and the food as normal superb. The inside may feel a bit dated but it’s spotless and the friendly staff were available to discuss my questions on the old pictures of Whitby and surrounding areas on the wall with enthusiasm and knowledge! All in all a great fish and chip shop , crinkle cut chips too !! We have tried the magpie but this I think is better a little of the beaten track but well worth it ..

We had a sit in meal one night and a takeaway another night using the app, and it was all fantastic service, fast and efficient, the food was excellent, I completely give them 10 out of 10 for everything 😀

Normally my favorite Whitby chippy. Ordered on the app, very fast to collect order, just walk in and collect it, 10/10. Spam fritters are almost perfect, nice thickness, nice batter, real spam. However just a little too greasy. 4.5/5 Joint highest score in my mission to find the best spam fritters. The chips though are a real let down. Don't know if this was just a bad day as I dont remember bad chips here in the past but mine were rubbery, only warm and just bad. Maybe my order was sat for a few mins before I collected it. Although it was ordered for 5pm and collected at 5:01.

We did not think the fish and chips where all that special. Tried two other places and they were far better.

Omg, the food was simply the best I have ever eaten. The fish was mouth watering and the home made tartar sauce I cannot even find the words to say how tasty it was. 100% recomend this restaurant

Another case of rip off Britain. Walked in, sat down read the menu and left. The specials are no longer on the menu so for a small fish and chips £13.40, tea £2.80 peas £2.10 = £18.10! Can of pop £3! They won’t survive with these prices. Shame.

Fish and chips twice and a small tub of Irish curry = £22. Takeout. The trays are very shallow so there aren't as many chips as first appears. The fish was slim and average quality, crinkle cut chips decent, Irish curry to thin.

Our go to restaurant. Usually a little less frantic than the bigger fish and chip restaurants on the front, and better for it. Nevertheless the staff and service are top notch as are the meals. Prices are fair and the premises are licensed, so treat yourself to a bottle of chilled white wine with the meal.

An excellent meal, we went for lunch, Small Cod with chips and mushy peas, a round of bread and pot of tea. Although a tad expensive, the portions were large and proper tasty crispy chips. Gorgeous.

Beautiful mouth watering fish and chips. I pigged out on Whitby scampi on our second visit. Yes two visits. The staff were friendly and attentive. Prices were comparable to other establishment.. It is off the beaten track, so there wasn't any queuing. We ate in the restaurant both times. This accommodated my wheelchair and I wasn't in anyones way. A must for polite staff, excellent service and food. Thank you

We tried here as a change from our usual, we will stick with Mr Chips our meal was nice enough but not as good as our usual, cost more and took longer to be served.

Great food (and vegetarian choices with the falafel burger) and fast service. The guy who served us was brilliant, annoyingly I didn't catch his name but he was lovely. Thank you so much! We visited with my family and my baby and were made to feel really welcome and had the pushchair accommodated really well. The only thing I could mention is that there needs to be baby changing available in the gents as well as the ladies.

We needed fish and chips by the sea. We ordered two haddock and chips and when the portions came I was amazed. The fish was so sweet and the chips were very tasty. We weren't kept very long and off we went and we enjoyed them very much.

We were recommended this place by the bar staff in the nearby pub we were staying at. I had Haddock and Chips, which was excellent. The chips were just right, and the batter was some of the lightest, crispiest I have ever had. The fish was superbly fresh. My wife had sea bass and salad and she was very happy with that too. We will certainly come here again, next time we are in Whitby.

Royal Fisheries is the best chippy in Whitby (way better than the Magpie cafe 😉)!! Always have wonderful service and the food is fantastic. It's one thing I always look forward to when we come to Whitby.

Went to two places in Whitby for fish and chips, Royal Fisheries was by far the best, the other nearby and more expensive! I would highly recommend, we did takeaway.

Service was a bit slow because of some kind of tech issue. Staff were friendly. Food was amazing. I had a plaice that was very nice and not greasy at all. Great experience overall.

Good quality food and pleasant staff. Generally, our usual place to go for fish and chips, but the prices have soared since our last visit in April, so we will be going elsewhere in future.

We've eaten here several times. It's slightly off the grid being at the far end of the main shopping street opposite Boyes. Most people like to eat near the quayside and pier with a view of the water. The fish and chips are equal if not better than anything else in Whitby, and the atmosphere is more relaxing than many other places. The service is excellent and it's nice to hear conversations between staff and regular customers showing that the "locals" eat here too. There's more than cod and chips on the menu but I can't comment on those dishes (when in Rome .....). Highly recommended.

We arrived at Royal Fisheries post-lunch rush and were served promptly with no wait time at all. The food (2x Cod & Chips) was ready in 10 minutes, was of exceptional high-quality, with a flavorful, light batter and was clearly well-prepared. This place just goes to show that even the simplest meals can be exceptional with the correct know-how. Royal Fisheries years of trading experience shines through with an impeccable service and fantastic food. Our flawless 45-minute in & out dining experience easily earns it this 5-star rating.

I grew up in Whitby and they are still one of the best chippies you'll find.

Visited on Easter Sunday for lunch. Mum in a wheelchair but that was no problem, we were quickly seated. The fish and chips were delicious and plentiful and the mushy peas were perfect. We asked for 3 cups of tea and received a large tea pot plus a jug of hot water, so ample to drink. The prices may seem a little steep for some but was well worth it! Would strongly recommend a visit

We popped in on March 13th for Dinner. We were greeted by a lovely chap called Alex he was very polite and helpful.The fish and chips my wife and I order were both cooked perfectly to our liking,and it was very reasonably priced for a seaside town.

Friendly staff, good food, clean and comfortable was very quiet on our visit Due to weather and time of year considering this we waited longer than I would have thought don't know why ?

Fantastic fish and chips, service was very good too, only issue was the gents was a tad on the whiffy side - needed a clean but will certainly come again. Great food.
