Absolutely stunning restaurant, with food to match the surroundings. 10/10 from my wife,granddaughter and me.

Food was lovely. I was a little bit disappointed with my crispy beef with chilli, i couldn’t taste the beef only the batter.

Very beautiful restaurant in the centre of Harrogate. Good food, wine list, and excellent service.

We went to this fabulous restaurant pre covid & always wanted to return when next visiting Harrogate. We were not disappointed as both food & attentive service were first class, just as we remembered. We had the banquet for two & each course was delicious. Drinks were reasonably priced too in this imposing building with great decor. We will definitely return ASAP.

Has to be the best ever Chinese we go too and every bit worth the travel xxxx

Good food, good service and amazing venue

Went for a family lunch on a Sunday. Excellent service and delicious food in a lovely setting. Good options for the vegetarians in our party, including the Dim Sum. Portions were a good size.

There's no doubt the building is impressive but there's not much atmosphere. The staff were attentive but discreet. The menu is expensive but the price does not reflect the quality of the cooking. Disappointed.

Just been to the Royal Bath Chinese restaurant Highley recommed also had a good day at Wetherby races and stopped at the Dales Hotel everything was first class.

We have been this evening and wow! What a wonderful place! Stunning restaurant, amazing service and outstanding food. Spotless throughout, well turned out staff and food presentation was spectacular. Definitely the best restaurant we have been to in Harrogate. Would recommend to anyone and cannot wait to visit again.

First visit, great service and food, very good vegetarian choices, a lovely venue. This restaurant operates a 10% service charge, limited to no parking available, table’s very close together.

Magnificent building. Good food but expensive. Service good.

We had a mixed experience there. The food was delicious but service was basic and atmosphere, hmm not great, lacks any character what so ever. The building looks wonderful, but staff doesn't know anything about it, keeps saying they part-timers. Also the service charge is added on top of the bill, doesn't say anything doesn't ask just expect you to pay even the experience is not great. And as soon as you finish your food they want you to disappear. I recommend a take away to enjoy the food but not an actual restaurant experience.

We think the building is stunning. Food is extremely expensive around £40 a head, and its just simple chinese food, nothing special. You could tell the staff we're commenting on us in their own language. I also found it insulting counting our money in front of us as if we couldn't afford it. You pay premium prices you should not get this feeling.

Beautiful place, best looking restaurant we've been to. Service was also amazing. Food was good. Good selection of vegetarian options with actual vegetarian "chicken" which I've never seen in a Chinese restaurant before. Parking situation isn't great. Tables were a bit close together for my liking.

Booked at last minute as our previous booking did not accommodate for a disabled member of our party .But Royal Baths was exceptional in their service and gave us access through there disabled entrance .

Excellent food and service in this amazing building. We were the only people eating throughout the 2 hours we were there so the atmosphere wasn't great. Also some more oriental music would be nice. A bit expensive but worth it for the quality of the food.

Although we were told it would be very busy with an 'End of Conference' dinner going on we went anyway...and we are so glad we did. It was the Best Chinese food we have tasted for a very very long time and even though it was busy and loud the service was excellent. Fabulous building with bags of atmosphere, if it was closer to us we would be regulars! It's not cheap however its really fabulously good.

Unique setting with delicious food. Had steak and it melted in your mouth. Attentive but not overpowering service. Will definitely go back.... Soon!

Food was good and the building was very impressive. However, interaction with the staff just felt a bit off, borderline rude. We also had to follow up a few times on drinks requests (it was a fairly quiet evening) and they got our starters wrong the first time. The thing that disappointed me most though was the lack of flexibility on banquet meals. I've never been to a Chinese restaurant before where banquet items couldn't be changed for similar priced items to get a banquet to your tastes. Here however, only a single change allowed over all courses. As others have said the building also causes a lack of atmosphere in the place, although we did notice some very quiet background music that was nice as the place emptied. Overall we made a good evening of the situation and enjoyed our food, but I'm not sure I'd return.

The food is exceptional. The service is ultra polite and attentive. The cost is high. We paid £120 for two of us to eat the set banquet with two drinks each only. Recommended, but save up for it!

Stunning location with delicious food. Well worth it if looking for a place in Harrogate to eat. It's worth booking in advance though as gets busy.

Wow Had the three course banquet and enjoyed every mouthful. The staff are highly trained and attentive while still being friendly and approachable. An example to all restaurants on how to do it right. The only reason the atmosphere wasn’t 5 star was more down to them not being overly busy when we were there than anything else. Will definitely be back.

This is by far one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. The ambience of the place is stunning, the staff are extremely attentive and friendly and the food was exceptional. I'd recommend this place to anyone. The only downside is that I live 2 hours away and no other Chinese restaurant I go to will ever live up to the same standards 😀

My wife and I shared a lovely meal here. The staff were welcoming and attentive, and the atmosphere was a perfect blend of intimate and relaxed. The food was cooked to perfection, being presented with great care and attention to detail. Highly recommended.

CLOSED do not go here it has completely shut down. We could not find a good Chinese restaurant in Harrogate but you will find Thai and Indian restaurants to choose from. We did find some Chinese restaurants but not good ones in our opinion. Walked into and straight out of one of them!!

We walked by to check out the menu and found it outside and very dirty. I am sure if it was open it would not be left in this state. It would be very sad if this restaurant in a beautiful building is a casualty of the pandemic??

My partner and I lived in Guangdong, China for 6 years and have felt quite 'homesick' coming back to Harrogate, but every time we step foot in this stunning spot it's just what we need. The restaurant itself is stunning, probably the most curious mash up of old world bathhouse charm and history juxtaposed over a festive atmosphere. The food is unreal, the dim sum is fresh, delicate and authentic. The menu has something for everyone, I'd be happy even just having a vegan or vegetarian meal here. My favourite dish is the eggplant & bean curd in claypot. Phenomenal! All served by wonderully friendly staff and a chef who pops out once in a while to admire his work.

The setting of the Royal pump house is superb. The staff were friendly,courteous and helpful. The food was served on hot plates. Delicious two course meal. Good variety. . The price is higher than a regular Chinese restaurant. But it's more than the norm. A lovely experience.

It was our umpteenth visit here and I must say the standard is still good, it is more expensive but it is nice to treat yourselves, the food is excellent the surroundings are beautiful and the atmosphere is just right, ambient music so you can chat and hear each other. The staff are attentive and will do anything for you we will certainly be back.

Good food and friendly and efficient staff in the impressive and spacious surroundings of the old Royal Baths.

Excellent food. Pity about the atmosphere. The younger staff seemed petrified to put a foot wrong. Certainly not a friendly atmosphere. Probably won’t go back due to this which is a shame as the food was delicious though on the pricey side. Watch out for the 10% service charge which is added automatically to the bill. We always leave a tip but like to decide for ourselves if warranted and how much. Save your money and book elsewhere.

No one can fail to notice the Royal Baths Building in the Centre of Harrogate. It's columned entrance draws you in, and there you will findthe menu of this Chinese Restaurant.Take a look through the glass of the revolving entrance door and you will get a glimpse of the superbly appointed interior. The question is,does the food on offer live up to the building? The answer is, yes it does.The Menu is quite extensive, providing much of what you would expect of a Chinese Restaurant.The Wine list has a good range, some available by the glass.Service is efficient, with plenty of Waiting Staff on hand.Food was delivered promptly and hot to the table.And while waiting for your order to be presented, take time to admire the magnificent space in which you are seated. Read the inscriptionon the frieze. Examine the flooring design. Gaze up at the Central Domed Roof. Eating here is not just a meal out, it is an experience.There was only one minor negative, the Crispy Aromatic Duck was delivered to the table pre-shredded. We have become used to the shredding beingdone at the table, it being a bit of a ritual.As for value, it is a little on the pricey side, but the food, delivered in those surroundings, made it all worth it.If you are planning to drive to this restaurant then be aware that Car Parking in the vicinity is very limited.Major Credit Cards are accepted.

Our last night in Harrogate and could not have had a better meal! Fresh, flavoursome, clean and delicious! No stodgy MSG tasting cheap nasty good, this is high quality Staff attentive polite and professional A must visit when in Harrogate

Really nice and relaxed vibes food is lovely comes out quick and hot. Staff made sure we always had a drink on the table. I recommend the set menu you get so much choice it’s like having a little buffet all to yourself. We went as a party of two and tried to order set menu you for four as we are good eaters WOW I’m glad I didn’t the portions are a really good size and plenty of food comes out to share so you won’t be fighting for the last spring roll. The member of staff stopped us from ordering the bigger menu and told us would be a waste of our money which I really appreciated as it shows they’re not there to get as much money as they can from you. Me and my partner had a beautiful meal the only thing I can grumble at is the alcoholic drinks are abit on the pricey side. A shot of gin is around 5 pound then you have to buy the soft drink seperate but apart from that I would definitely recommend to eat here whilst in Harrogate!

Omg lush lush lush food, Absolutely brilliant place to eat, I’m the fussiest vegetarian ever and they so cater for even people like me!!! The food was absolutely delicious the appetiser were amazing and then the starters, along with the mains, I couldn’t ask for more, dim sum veggie, never had these before lush lush lush, then veggie wraps say no more just lush and I had veggie chicken in lemon and shared eggs rice with noodles, was beautiful and tasty and we would definitely come back, recommend this restaurant, I’d give it 10 stars!!!

In the words of our Harrogate tour guide Harry, if you have to visit one restaurant in Harrogate visit this one. The food was lovely, the service was very efficient, but for me it was the place which was amazing. In between courses I marveled at the architecture and imagined what it was like during the Victorian age as public baths. It is very spacious, good during the covid, but I couldn't imagine it being full although I'm sure it would be. My wife and I ordered a range of starters, then some soup, both of which were excellent. Our "main" course was half a crispy aromatic duck to share. It was nice but not the best we've had - a little dry. But the experience of the visit super, next time I would probably order a meal with rice rather than the duck.

We will be back!Our children fancied Chinese food and as we’d never visited Harrogate before we stumbled upon this restaurant.The staff we were so attentive. Food was fresh and all tasted delicious.The building itself is so grande and the upkeep excellent.We will definitely be returning! X

The restaurant is in a beautiful setting of the Royal Baths. We were seated quickly and our orders taken. We had the BBQ pork dim sum which were delicious and seaweed, then the crispy aromatic duck and sweet and sour pork, crispy chilli beef and egg fried rice. All very delicious and not greasy. Only gripe was that service was slow and seemed a bit chaotic. After we had our duck we were asked if we were still waiting for it!

We visited on a Sunday evening and were very well catered for. The steamed dim sum were excellent..my duck was unexciting and the rest fairly standard but great service and a very special venue !

Housed in the old baths building, this place is amazing! Beautiful original features make it a very special place! Food was also pretty good 😀 Best crispy chilli beef we have had in a while! Service was excellent and good covid management.

We booked a table in advance having seen great feedback and images online, we arrived 5 minutes early and were shown straight to our table, we then waited 25 minutes to have a drinks order taken. The lads clearing tables were aware we were waiting but seemed to politely avoid us knowing there were only a couple of ladies taking orders. Even the table next door were aware of us waiting and trying to get attention from staff also - embarrassing!! We finally ordered drinks and looked through the (very grubby) menus to pick what we wanted to eat. This is the first place we have visited since COVID that we haven’t had either disposable menus or sanitised plastic ones. The menus were huge and worn paper/cardboard and absolutely gross! Hoping the kitchen would make up for the awful service, we ordered our dinner and although nothing was terrible, there was nothing worth going back again for! The majority of the staff were rude and the lady serving us didn’t acknowledge our concerns. There was no offer of a sincere apology, and felt we had the cold shoulder for the remainder of the evening and to top it off when we got our bill, there was a 10% service charge added! The only positive is the building is pretty!

Booked this for a special occasion while visiting Harrogate and it did not disappoint. Beautiful building and wonderful food. Did not feel rushed in any way and staff asked if you wanted time before they served the next course. Would love to go again.

Recently visited this restaurant, they fitted us in without having to book, all the necessary hygiene guidance followed!The husband loves Chinese but I’ve never been a real fan but he needs a treat now and then However I experienced the best Chinese food I’ve ever had, lovely tender cooked duck pancakes, chicken in black bean sauce was a real treat. Although we live miles from this restaurant we would definitely make a beeline for the place should we be staying here again. High recommend.It certainly must of been good as I hardly ever do reviews!

Enjoyed a meal having booked in the afternoon whilst walking past the lovely building. The welcome and service was excellent, as too was the food - probably one of the best Chinese meals I've tasted anywhere. The setting accompanies the food as the inside of the building reflects the grandeur you would expect from the outside. We couldn't fault any part of the experience and would highly recommend this restaurant for a visit.

My partner and I visited Harrogate for the first time last weekend. After arriving later in the evening and not having previously booked a table for something to eat we wandered around town to find somewhere that would be able to accomodate us. Due to covid restrictions lots of places had been previously booked well in advance and so we were finding it difficult to to find someone to eat when we stumbled upon this wonderful place. We entered inside to ask if they were taking walk in and whether they could accommodate at such short notice and so late in the day (9pm ish). A waiter showed us to the bar and told us that if we had a drink and waited for a few minutes he would see what he could do. Within minutes of ordering a drink he came back to show us to a table. The tables are socially distanced and all servers were wearing masks. We felt totally comfortable...in fact, it was the most comfortable we felt in any places we had eaten in during the weekend as the restrictions were so well adhered to!We chose to have a set meal and it did not disappoint! The food was absolutely delicious! The best Chinese food we have eaten in a long time! The staff were friendly, polite and very attentive. There were times during the meal where my glass of water had been filled without me even realising..they were that quick to realise my glass was nearly empty. We wholly recommend eating here and will definitely be back on our next visit to Harrogate. Thank you for such a wonderful experience.

Really nice building and restaurant. Service good and food excellent. We had mixed starters and shared 5 dishes between 6 of us with 4 portions of rice-this was plenty.I was served a funny tasting Coke Zero and when I checked the bottle it was 2 years out of date!! They apologised and got me a fresh one without charge...should think so too at the least. Prices a little steep but then Chinese food typically is. Very disappointed that they didn’t register with the eat out to help out scheme. Didn’t put people off though as it was very busy.

Excellent food and service. This place was the best place I ate during my weekend in Harrogate. We hadn’t booked a table on a Saturday night and they were able to fit us in. We had to wait in their bar for a little bit but the service in there was excellent too. There was one man on the bar and it was better service than most places that have multiple bar staff. He brought our drinks to the table and was extremely pleasant. When we sat at our table the service was wonderful they took our orders fast and brought the food promptly, cleaning and clearing the table in between each course. Our drinks were kept topped up and we had check ins multiple times. The food was lovely. We had the hot mixed hors d’oeuvres to start. Then quarter of a duck to share and then crispy chicken in sweet chilli and garlic sauce with fried rice. It was all delicious and we found this was just enough and we didn’t feel bloated. Some people are bothered by the service charge but it is more than deserved here.

First time visit. Grand venue. Very welcoming. Excellent service, nothing too much trouble. Deviated from the menu. Both enjoyed our food and wine. Definitely recommend.

I was surprised to see the review which was critical of the staff attitude. My experience was totally different . We were welcomed and treated like honoured guests. The food was excellent with an unstinting food and a wide choice of dishes. I would recommend this to anyone who likes and understands Chinese food.

We chose to go and have our dinner at this restaurant after enjoying a walk around harrogate through the day and seeing the restaurant, reading a few reviews and we were impressed.The restaurant was not busy at all in fact all the guests seemed to be placed in the same area which I have to say seemed a little cramped especially with it being such a huge space.The food and service was exceptional but I will say there were times like I felt that staff were actually watching everything you did, making sure they were there for when you finished and topping up water, peoples drinks and moving plates. On this occasion I would say maybe there was too many staff on this night and I do wonder if the service would be the same if it were busier. I cant fault the staffs pleasantries and ways, I dont mean for my comment about being watched as a criticism it just felt a little strained at times which can sometimes make you feel uncomfortable. I will also add that they automatically add a service charge of 10% to your bill which I dont think is really fair. I would usually tip and it should really be our choice how much we decide.It's almost placed on your bill like it's a legal requirement when this isnt. In fact I would have actually tipped more but realising they had already added this on I felt it was a little cheeky and didnt tip any extras.

Wonderful stunning surroundings to eat in,staff friendly & attentive,we don't have big appetites so just a starter and the crispy duck it was delicious,evrything is spotless & clean you can see them all working in the kitchen & the toilets are lovely with Moulton Brown products.Highly recommend

The Royal Baths seems like an unlikely setting for a chinese restaurant but it is one that is well worth visiting and there are three reasons for that.Reason one: The setting is simply stunning, the entrance is very grand but once inside the sheer scale of the plac,e with its soaring ceilings and atmospheric paintwork, is quite remarkable. We were there on a Sunday evening and so it was fairly quiet, I suspect when it is full - and it deserves to be - it could become a bit noisy as sounds do echo off the walls. Even if that is the case it is a small price to pay for everything else.Reason 2: The food is beautifuklly cooked and presented, set off on high qualty crockery. There is an extensive menu and as it was our first time we opted for one of the set menus so that we could sample a range of dishes and we were not disappointed. It was particularly nice that when we asked to swap in a couple of vegetarion dishes there was absolutely no problem, "of course," was the response, which brings me to reason 3Reason 3 The staff were brilliant, welcoming and helpful from the moment we arrived until the second we left. Everybody was cheerful and enthusiastic about what they were doing and they had that knack of being there just at the right time.This certainly isn't the cheepest chinese restaurant I have been in but in this case it was worth every penny!

5 of us visited the Royal Baths Chinese Restaurant in Harrogate for dinner. Choosing from the menu was super easy when we chose a set menu. Right from the speedy arrival of starters we knew that we were in for a real treat. Service was attentive without being intrusive. Clearing of plates started from finishing the last mouthful but absolutely bit has proved consistent quality. Thanks very much.

Having enjoyed previous visits, this was a disappointing evening tonight. On entering we were not met by anybody on front of house so we made our way to the bar to order a cocktail. We asked for the cocktail menu and was told there wasn’t one. Eventually we were given an ‘old’ cocktail menu. We had many apologies about our cocktails, yet they were lovely. However the main issue we had was with the lack of organisation of the restaurant staff. We were continuously asked the same questions by several different staff throughout our meal. We witnessed raised voices by one female member of staff to other male members of staff that. The same female member of staff topped up my glass of wine with, using a different table’s bottle of wine. Clearer organisation is needed of the restaurant staff. The food, on the other hand, was still fabulous.

I took my girlfriend for her birthday meal out to this restaurant on our day trip to Harrogate (from Leeds) and we were not disappointed.

I really enjoyed my visit. In fact I liked everything about it. The place itself is very impressive as a building and the decor is great and table settings are upmarket and tasteful. The food was wonderful and the staff were friendly and professional. I will return. Thank you.

Having been many times we were disappointed this time with the level of service. Unfriendly staff on arrival, at the bar, and when paying. This really is is in contrast to the good food and service received in the past. What’s happened?

My friend and I had a wonderful time here. We shared a set menu which was well presented and delicious. The surroundings are really beautiful in this restaurant and the service was great.

Amazing food and service along with the beautiful building.

Our 4th time here and have always thoroughly enjoyed the food and service. We arrived early evening and it was already starting to get busy, It's impossible to ignore the amazing decor and architecture whilst trying to choose from the comprehensive and interesting menu, We started off with hot and sour soup and chicken and sweetcorn soup followed by salt and pepper squid and mandarin ribs. For mains we decided to share the noodles with meat and seafood which was a good choice as the portions are very generous. All the food was delicious and served piping hot. Service was attentive and friendly throughout. The draught Chinese lager (Sunlick) is excellent, served ice cold and is very reasonably priced. Our restaurant of choice in Harrogate and therefore will definitely return.

Lovely surroundings but the service not very good at all.

This is terrible. I took my Mum for her birthday today to the Sunday buffet with 5 other people. There was a very very Limited selection of everything unless you want cold or luke warm food which has been sitting around for ages. They do not replace the half empty serving dishes but add hot food on top so the last diners will be eating food which could be 3 hours old. A lot of the dishes were nearly empty and it took almost an hour for some to be filled up. Toffee apples are served cold so children cannot burn themselves. Good excuse. There were 5 sat on a plate looking very unappealing for the 2 hours we were there and no more arrived even when I said could they be replaced with fresh ones. Crispy duck is pork! The Manager is so rude and uninterested as to any comments or requests that it is almost laughable. It might be ok at other times but I would suggest there are hundreds of restaurants were the service and food are better than this in Harrogate. I think health and safety would comment on food hygiene as this buffet is not acceptable on any level. Definitely one to miss.

Popped in on way to somewhere else to eat - but stayed as we were captivated by the wonderful setting: the original entrance to the Royal Baths. An imposing cavernous hall. Terrific food - we both had duck - and service was very attentive also.

First off,let’s talk about the interior decor....

This restaurant is in the original bath house after treatment rooms. The decor is very grand and the service excellent. Great menu choice and delicious food. We had one of the set menus which was very good value and the wine was reasonably priced.
