Enjoyed our dinner at Rostick very much indeed. Booked a pre-Christmas meal within a few days of the end of the November lockdown, so the dining room was nicely arranged to be COVID-secure. Which meant that it was not too full, and probably not as jolly as it might have been during Eastbourne's tourist season. But the staff were nicely engaging and always available, which was welcome. A large, airy dining room added to the sense of occasion. We enjoyed different starters and different mains - and all were very well cooked. My starter - a beef carpaccio on lettuce - was generous and well-seasoned. My main course, a rigatoni amatriciano, was delicious: pasta al dente, plenty of bacon and plenty of garlic and herb. The other main was equally appreciated. The house red wine was a Montepulciano that put to shame the wines sold under that name in British supermarkets. The Rostick obviously knows its wines as much as its cuisine. Excellent all round dining experience.

A delightful friendly establishment , just right for these difficult times - Visited at the end of the South Downs Way walk so was quite hungry! Portion sizes were enormous- too much ! We shared a meat antipasto platter which was enough for 4. The mains were also super sized, and I couldn't leave without a tiramasu - bliss. There is deal with the local hoteliers in Eastbourne, where there is a 10% discount -- however the experience was so good we just added it back as a tip.

Rostick review Tremendous sense of quality Four of us ate dinner here just before the second lockdown on the recommendation of the hotel where we were staying. We arrived with no special expectations. The owner, Mr Cinalli, welcomed us warmly into a nice, uncomplicated dining room. So first things first. The menu is really good: compact, well balanced and, frankly mouthwatering with a range of fish, shellfish and pasta dishes. One of our party is vegetarian and she was very happy with the selection offered her. When I asked our – attentive – waiter if the squid were fresh or frozen, he said with much pride that nothing on the menu was from frozen. We found that you could really tell this, particularly with the squid, which were tender and full of taste. The wine list, too was brief but well chosen. We took a Gavi di Gavi that was delicious and fairly priced. The first indication that we were in for a special evening came with the starters. We ordered four different ones. “Were we going to be sharing?” We said that we would, and were happily surprised to be offered two slates with the starters specially arranged for us.For mains, the non vegetarians of us had the two Abruzzo specialities on the menu, a soup with monkfish, langoustine, and shellfish, and a pasta in a broth with shellfish. They were both stunning. Generous portions, really fresh and with a terrific control of the herbs and spices. What we like best about eating in Italy is that there, it sometimes happens that you find a small restaurant with a sense of quality so high that you realise that it is practiced for its own sake, not for praise and not for reward, but out of respect for the ideals of cooking for guests. I’m old now and I never expected to find this in the south of England.By the end of the main course we realised we were having a night of real hospitality. We shared a desert, so as to be able to concentrate on the selection of fine Grappas on offer. This kind of restauranting does not happen by accident. It turns out that the owner/chef used to work at the celebrated Harry’s Bar in Venice and New York among other great venues. For all this, prices are fair : the restaurant is not cheap, but quality like this usually comes at a far higher price. When this lockdown is over, Rostick is the place where we intend to go and celebrate, even if it is a two hour drive away.

Weekend in Eastbourne for the Marathon, looking for somewhere for the runner to carb up. Excellent choice, good menu, food really good and kind enough to go off menu for one of the mains. Reasonable wine list. Would highly recommend and will return on next visit. Cope will with Covid restrictions and ludicrous 22.00 curfew.

Fantastic little Italian restaurant with shellfish, great wine list and family friendly. We had oysters and carpaccio for starter and then the scoglio pasta for main. The service was great. We were away for a long weekend and walking around we decided on the off-chance to try Rostick's for dinner, what a result ! The oysters were beautifully presented and what a pleasant surprise to find mutton skewers on the menu and cooked to perfection too and rounded off with Creme Caramel. We will definitely return to Rostick's next time we're in Eastbourne.

Italian with a difference for sure, the menu always has a number of specials to try and never disappoints. Exceptional seafood and when you combine the wine bar list with the restaurant list it gives you a wide variety of wines to choose from and enjoy.

My partner and I arrived at the restaurant without a booking looking for a table for 2. We were offered a seat outside as were told the inside was fully booked and so happily accepted. As we sat down and looked at the menu, another couple turned up and announced they didn't have a booking. They were welcomed inside and given a table. Perhaps a dress code thing? Went to Rosnick restaurant after reading the reviews on Trip advisor and also visited restaurant in the day to book. When we got there we were greeted by two nice gentleman waiters (owners). When showed to our table and the menus given which was explained in perfect detail, but after 10 minutes of looking and talking/relaxing to my husband we were told they are shutting at 22.00 pm and this was only 20.00 pm, felt very rushed. My Husband ordered calamri with one shelled prawn which was raw inside, we mentioned this and was greeted back with 3 deep fried prawns with the instenies still in the prawns not removed ?? no apology !! He ordered Mutton skewers, these are not anything like the picture, they are more like tiny lardons on a wooden skewer. They forgot to bring out the chips and salad (never got the salad) I was advised all was cooked freshly and to order, but when i asked if i could have the muscles without tomatoes they were quite affended but did say they would accomodate me to have white wine/garlic and onions. The muscles looked like they were in dish water and tasted like it. Was not impressed by any of this and the only reason i did not complain it was my birthday and did not want to ruin the evening. When the hefty bill came, and we did not complain , everyone else got a free shot by the owner after there meal when asked for the bill, we did not, we were offered nothing ! not even an appolgy for the uncooked prawn which could of made my husband very ill. After i wish i did walk out but there was no where else really to go as we dont live in Eastbourne ! there was a chinese next door but my husband cant eat this sadly. Very clean establishement except for the awful carpet in front of the toilets on top of stairs looks like never been changed since the 40.s. The ladies toilets were very clean and was impressed by the toiletries on offer for customers but if not washing hands then hygiene problem there. Waiting staff did not wear masks when serving the meals, no socail distancing measures, mobile no was taken but for the booking not for covid issues. This is a place we will not be returning to or recomending. The only good thing i can say was the lovely waitress with red hair who was charming and polite.

Forget every other restaurant in Eastbourne... just book Rostick and sail away to heaven. The starters were mouthwatering.. I had Lorenzo's Tre Color salad and my wife, Nickie, had the scallops. Truly Outstanding! Nickie followed it up with the Sea Bass which melted in the mouth while I had a fillet steak the likes of which makes people of my generation feel like we were kids watching Star Wars for the first time. The wine was recommended, not on the price but for what it would add to the taste of the meal and did not disappoint. Family run restaurant with that lovely Italian feel about the place. The waiters were charming knowledgeable and passionate. Wines were amazing the ingredients was so fresh and excellent quality. The menu was diverse. I had the aubergine in gorgonzola cheese and cream. It blew me away. Off the chart. Just the perfect amount of cheese and cream. Arguably the best starter I have ever had. Perfect amount of time between starter and main. We shared a seabass with new potatoes garlic and salad. The potatoes and garlic were part baked in the oven with the seabass soaking up the juices. Omg they were like a sponge. The fish was so tender and moist. It all went together so well. By this point I was full but could not help having the home made tiramisu. Again on a whole new level. We will be back again and again. Who knew Eastbourne had such a wonderful restaurant that beats all of the upmarket London restaurants I have tried before. Well done and so worth every penny

We were sitting next to a table of six one side and another table of two on the other and probably not even a meter between us so no social distancing at all. There was also no hand sanitiser at the entrance that we could see. We had booked our table the week before which was probably advisable being so busy. Would we visit again, based on the food yes, based on the social distancing no.

I'm very thankful that during our evening walk, my partner and I decided to stop at this restaurant for a quick glass of wine. It was the best decision of the day! We had an amazing aperitivo - spritz was on point and the sicilian wine was delicious. We the ordered the antipasto misto, with all sort of Italian meat (like fresh and amazing mortadella!!!) and cheese. We were already so full, because one plate is definitely enough for two, but the smell of roasted arrosticini was too tempting. We shared 12 of the tasties arrosticini ever with an home made spicy hot sauce. The owner was so kind and funny, no idea what the bad reviews in here are for. He's truly passionate for his job and wants everything to be done right. Congratulations Lorenzo, you're doing an amazing job!If we are ever coming back to Eastburne, we definitely know where to eat to feel a little bit more "a casa".

This incredible place was recommended to us by our guest house host and it didn’t disappoint! This is the best meal we’ve had in a very long time and possibly the best fish ever - the sea bream “grilled to perfection” - as it said on the menu - was literally as described. Other worthy mentions: the garlic bread and calamari starter. Service was excellent and really friendly - we got invited for a glass of limoncello in the oyster bar downstairs which was really lovely. THANK YOU! Highly recommended - make sure to book! We were lucky to get a reservation 1h15m in advance on a Saturday.

Had a really lovely evening at this restaurant and it’s sister wine bar Nelly’s! Lorenzo’s food is really excellent and the service is good with a personal touch. His partner Nelly runs the wine bar downstairs and we had a really fun evening with her after dinner. The wine list is really strong and varied (naturally a lot of Italian!) and the fizz options are a bit different to the norm! The combined Rostick / Nelly’s set up is a real winner, or was for us!Thank you Nelly and Lorenzo for a memorable evening! We will definitely be back...

Absolutely amazing restaurant! If you have never been then you must go- you will not be disappointed! The food is beautiful; home made recipes with fresh and high quality ingredients that are an absolute delight. The dishes are rustic, authentic, perfectly prepared and simply delicious. The wine list provides perfect pairings for the menu whether it be fresh fish, meat or homemade pasta. The service is absolutely impeccable; Lorenzo and Nelly have made us feel so welcome and we can not wait to return. The addition of the new Wine and Oyster Bar downstairs (Nelly’s) is a fantastic and perfect venue for a quick drink, bite to eat or celebration with friends. We shall be returning again very soon!

We have been to Rostick several times in the past and it never disappoints. This time my wife and I had an absolutely fantastic lunch. After sharing six oysters to start, my wife had the lobster ravioli which, in her words, was “to die for” and I had sea bream. This place is the best restaurant in Eastbourne and we have already booked our next meal.

Well where do I even begin?! The food was amazing, truly delicious fresh authentic Italian seafood! The service was wonderful both Carlos and Lorenzo were a delight to meet, they were both so warm and friendly and had a wonderful knowledge of their amazing food and drink menus, they made some great suggestions for wines! The whole experience from start to finish was superb, and I wish we had a Rosticks in Suffolk because I would be there every weekend! I couldn't recommend a better place in Eastbourne for fresh delicious seafood! :) and the homemade Limoncello was sublime too!

We've been to Rostick many times and always had a great dinner, especially the daily fresh fish which we've seen Lorenzo buying at our local Southern Head Fish Shop. Yesterday was the official opening of Nelly's wine bar downstairs - really cosy - free food and prosecco all afternoon for regular customers - very generous. Lovely oysters and other food. And top class wines all available by the glass.

My friends and I visited Rostick for the first time yesterday evening. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. We had a pre dinner drink in their wine cellar which is underneath the restaurant where Nelly looked after us. The food in the restaurant is amazing, we all thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely be returning.

The food here is unmissable, it seriously was possibly the tastiest dinner out I’ve ever had. The staff are super attentive giving a 6 star service. I’d recommend eating upstairs in the beautiful light and airy restaurant then going down stairs to the newly attached Nelly’s bar for drinks and even nibbles. They have the biggest selection of wines and bubbles all by the glass or bottles and it’s a very chilled area. They also hire out for events so I’m looking at planning a party soon.

Surprisingly this restaurant was very quiet on a December Friday evening with only 1 other table occupied. This detracted from the experience which was unfortunate as it seems a very sociable and fun place. The Italian food is unusual unlike other more traditional restaurants in Eastbourne and certainly worth visiting. Starters of Calamari fritti were not the standard oil fried rings and were beautifully tender. Rostick main is lamb, oven baked, on sticks with a very spicy sauce so beware. Do not miss if you are dining here. Lobster ravioli at £17 was beautifully served and full of flavour. Similarly Panna cotta desert, although usually predictable, was excellent. Overall a very good experience and the innovative menu will mean we shall return. The bill for 3 was £96 and this included a modest amount of wine. The 2 staff (I assume one was the owner) worked hard and were successful in making sure we enjoyed ourselves. Maybe it is the quiet season in Eastbourne.

I have only given 4/5 for the lack of communication between the staff and our small party of two. There was an extremely long delay to start with, however there was a large party celebrating a ‘big’ birthday - so that was understood. But when 2x tables that had come in almost 45 minutes after us AND got their mains before us (it seemed that everyone had starters and we had already had ours) anyway after being told for almost 30+ minutes our mains would be out soon. Two of the staff members started even to avoid making eye contact - all any of them needed to do; was what the chief did shortly after receiving our mains. He explained that because I was allergic to gluten he had cleared the rest of the food orders; completely cleaned the kitchen to prepare my meal as I am gluten INTOLERANT. The food is excellent, just a shame that I wasn’t spoken to because the fantastic gesture received was not actually required - so long as I don’t eat gluten I am fine Thank you for looking after my dietary needs.

Wow what a treat! We travel all over the world and consider ourselves experienced foodies - what a real surprise to find such a good restaurant on our doorstep. We had mutton skewers, really really tasty and then a sharing seafood dish. We forgot to drink our wine, we stopped talking and were completely engrossed in our food, heaven on a plate, every mouthful. Lorenzo the owner and chef came and made us feel totally special, he fussed over us, gave me a demonstration on how to eat the skewers and then presented me with his homemade tiramisu. The main dish was amazing but the tiramisu nearly made me cry it was soooo good. It felt like i went on holiday for 2 hours. Thank you Lorenzo.

My boyfriend and I had a day off together and decided to take a little trip to Eastbourne in a rainy Monday from London. We stopped for a lunch at Rostick, and it was a pleasant surprise. We had oysters and fried calamari as starters, spaghetti allo scoglio and scialatielli alla pescatora for mains, and finished with desserts. Everything we ate was fresh and tasted great, straight from the Italian region of Abruzzo’s tradition. The owner Lorenzo was so friendly and welcoming with us, talking and giving lots of advices on what to visit in Eastbourne. We will for sure come back!

This is one of the most fantastic Italian restaurants I’ve ever been to in Britain. I don’t live in Eastbourne but I visit it often to see family and Rostick is an absolute must whenever I am there. Owner Lorenzo, who has worked in some very fine Italian restaurants all over the world, has created in Eastbourne an entirely authentically Italian establishment with gorgeous, fresh food (including amazing seafood as befitting its coastal location) and exceptional service. It’s all home-made, perfectly thought out and consistent. The town of Eastbourne is truly fortunate to have such a delightful restaurant.
