Rose Cottage Cafe in High Peak

We arrived late afternoon after a few days away for Chatsworth and a hike in the local area before heading home to the North East. They could only offer hot drinks and cake at that time of the day, but we had a really good quality Americano (and piping hot / much needed after a day out in the Peaks) plus a large slab of lemon drizzle cake. I’d initially been disappointed as they didn’t have scones, but this really hit the spot. The staff were very nice and directed us to a table next to a radiator so we could thaw out. Very pleasant and fuelled us up for the journey home.

Went on a recommendation for a breakfast the time was 11:25 I was told I could not have a breakfast as they had stopped serving. 11:30 is cut off time. Understandable that the chef may not be happy but I was a paying customer and I was there before cut off time.

We stopped here a couple of times the first was a damp, cold but dry Tuesday we had been to Treak Cliff Cavern and walked into Castleton for a wonder round and to stop for hot drinks. We found ourselves at Rose Cottage, received a warm and friendly welcome, great service. We enjoyed coffee, hot chocolate and shared a piece of carrot cake - couldn't have eaten a whole slice! I did think it was rather expensive cake was £4.95 and coffee was £3.50 for a small cup but having said that everything was delicious especially the carrot cake.

Whenever we go to Castleton we always book to come here. The staff are lovely, the food is excellent and there is amazing atmosphere. Would never dream of booking anywhere else. A joy to visit!

Big shout out to Angela our host and the team at Rose Cottage. The customer service for my group booking was second to none. We did pre-order and made many changes (sorry Chef), but the team managed the changes with absolutely no objections. The outside space is so pretty, it was just what we needed after our sunrise walk - finished off our meeting perfectly. Highly recommend. Hope to see you all again soon.

Today, in need of coffee I decided to visit the Rose Cottage Café. Never having visited this establishment before, I was struck by the ambiance and the well kept interior. The atmosphere was genial and welcoming and the service impeccable. As it was such a wonderful day, I opted to sit outside in the patio area with a wooden roof for cover. There are further tables offering the real al fresco experience which was pretty full. Further still is a very lovely lawned area for those who would rather separate themselves from the ladies wot lunch. The coffee was excellent and though I didn't order this time from a professional view point, it did appear to be of the best quality and well presented. If you're in the area, I would highly recommend this establishment as a must visit, while you're in the Peaks. Though I didn't order food on this occasion, I will be back in the near future to sample the breakfast I'm sure
