Rose and Crown in Haringey

Five of us went for Sunday lunch last week. We all had mains and four of us had desserts with a bottle of wine and 5 and a half pints between us. With a 10% tip that came out at £200. The pub is in Wimbledon so we were expecting it to be pricey - to us anyway - but the food wasn't brilliant and I have had a lot better Sunday lunches elsewhere. I had the Megrim (which is a sole-like fish in case anyone reading this doesn't know - I didn't and that's why I tried it). The fish itself was fine, though it wasn't very hot when it arrived, so I guess it had been sitting around for a while before we got served which wasn't great but when I tasted it there was just too much butter! I know you use butter with this type of fish, but I am guessing it was cooked in butter and there were two blobs of butter on top of the fish when it was served! Luckily - for me - I tasted the fish before smearing the blobs over the fish and was glad I didn't add them as well. Now I really like butter, but there was too much on this fish! I ate it, but didn't really enjoy it. No one apart from me had any real complaints, though no-one was raving about what they had. Otherwise, things were OK. We got stuck next to the kitchen as I guess it was awkward with there being 5 of us and service was a bit patchy but it WAS Sunday, so they were busy. Would I go again - not sure.

Six of us went here for lunch, we only had one course each. The food was fine, I decided to have a starter rather than a main, which was mackerel pate and it was pretty good. Service was friendly and good.

A friend and I visited on a wet Monday afternoon - just for a few drinks and a chat. The staff were attentive and made us feel welcome. I left my umbrella behind but fortunately this was discovered and awaits my collection from Reception.Nicky, the manager, was most helpful with my telephone requests for particular seating prior to our visit. (As a family, on other occasions, we have enjoyed the food and relaxed atmosphere.)

It was our first visit to this pub and we will be back again! I have a nut allergy and Steph talked through all the dessert options that I could have; I opted for the sticky toffee pudding and lemon slice, and they we delightful.Steph said she was new to the role, but you couldn't tell. Her service and smile were refreshing and welcoming!

When I visited with my girlfriend we were both surprised how expensive this place was, over £40 for a standard burger and fries each plus one drink each. Also the wait time was over 30 minutes for food and the drinks were slow to arrive at our table. Staff seemed not to care about the wait time as apart from bringing our food & drinks we had no contact with them.If you want expensive food and drinks then this is the place to go, owner/manager needs to look at the prices for the products they are selling

Fantastic lunch for a family birthday. Roast portions were very generous and everyone commented that their food was totally delicious. We eat out a lot and this is one of the best roasts we've had in a long time. Service was excellent as well!

I went with some friends for an evening meal at the Rose and Crown recently. I and some others made our orders. When the others were near the end of their meals I realiised that I still had not received my meal. The waiters were contacted and eventually I got my meal.We were in the outdoor covered dining area and later the fresh air and covid free environment was spoiled by that scourge of outdoor pubs - smokers.

Dissapointng that they arrent enrorcing the rule if 6 at this pub.... the tabke next to us (#71) had 9 people at it for over a hour at 1pm Sat24th . (And they were clearly 3 households).Also very slow service compared to other Youngs pubs in the area.

We have been to Rosie and crown many times over the years and we normally go for Sunday lunch or dinner at the weekends. The last time we went, sadly will be the last time we will go. We were greeted at the door by a waitress who refused to make eye contact and very rudely “tutted” when he asked if there was space without a booking, just a simple yes or no would have sufficed. Then didn’t reply, went away and came back and said you can sit outside. So we followed her through the restaurant where there were many many empty tables to a table outside in the rain. Here we stood for a further five to ten minutes without anyone being able to assist us. We asked a lady who appeared to be the manager in her own clothes where our table was, and she responded by telling us how busy she was and didn’t have time for this.. very rudely. We eventually took a table that no one was sat at in the rain and decided to go somewhere else that appreciates our custom. Really really bothered by the service here and the sheer lack of manners shown by the staff. We both work in hospitality and were shocked leaving as regular customers. Do not go here if you don’t have extremely high levels of patience.

Wonderful example of what a pub should be . Great food, beer and very ambient atmosphere. We think this is the best pub in Wimbledon

We stayed here two nights and must say we were impressed with our room, large room, super comfy large bed . Great bathroom, excellent shower and good towels. Good pub grub, Nice friendly helpful staff, Good location.

Great food great staff . First time eating out since lockdown and felt very safe . Returning again tomorrow . Staff were friendly and helpful and respected our space . All done on the app.

The staff is excellent, the food is to die for and the wine is delicious. Booking a table on internet is an easy process via the website. But unfortunately the noise when the pub and the restaurant are full is just too much, it's deafening and excruciating. Which makes it almost impossible to have a conversation with your table fellows. And having a conversation is part of the fun of dining out for us...

Visité viernes 24/1 por 1 personal de la calle comida encantadora (tenía pollo club s'wich y pal avacardo / huevos en tostadas) buenas raciones un excelente pub agradable, buen ambiente con diferentes muebles que lo hacen acogedor y cómodo para perros, lo cual es genial El dueño y su perro Freddy f / criar animales de fuego australianos, lo cual es genial, solo la decepción es el costo de las bebidas calientes que me di cuenta cuando mi hogar luego cobró 6 ¡50 por 1 café con leche y 1 taza de té demasiado!

It's a nice pub with good atmosphere. We had lunch overlooking the rear garden. The food is fairly standard pub grub. Not outstanding but decent enough. Friendly staff and would visit again.

We visited yesterday after a walk on the common. Friendly bar staff, comfortable seating, open fire. The food looked OK, although we didn't eat.

Great hotel in a good location with a friendly staff. Good choice of beers and food. Added advantage of a car park.

Arriving on Sunday at 1pm, the Rose and Crown is very popular and tables are scarce in this popular Wimbledon Village institutionWith our group of three seated in the bar area, Aiden - the manager - warmly welcomed us and made sure we were attended to, while waiting for a table. He kept us up to date when the tables would become available and was happy to chat and make us feel welcomed. Our table was ready after 20min and we enjoyed a lovely pub lunch, selecting from the wide variety menu. The table staff were responsive, hot food was served quickly (considering how popular the eating area was) and overall I highly commend Aiden's efforts and the table/kitchen staff for their enjoyable lunch.

Llegamos y nos sentamos en el jardín y después de 20 minutos nadie había venido a preguntarnos si queríamos tomar una copa o tomar un pedido. Cuando entré para encontrar a alguien, el personal estaba demasiado ocupado charlando. Luego tuve una pequeña discusión con la recepcionista y un joven que era mesero pasó y me dijo que no fuera tan grosero después de que la recepcionista me decía groseramente que la escuchara. ! Pedí hablar con el gerente, alguien vino a hablarme (no estoy seguro de si ella era la gerente) a quien no parecía importarle menos cuán grosero y despreocupado era su personal con un cliente. Definitivamente no recomendaría este lugar. Hay tantos lugares en Wimbledon Village donde puedes comer y beber y donde el personal es absolutamente encantador.

Nos alojamos aquí 3 noches en una habitación doble: espaciosa, cómoda cama grande, Sky TV, radio, té, café, tetera, galletas, manzanas. Baño moderno, ducha, toallas muy suaves de buena calidad, generosas botellas grandes de jabón, crema de ducha, champú, etc. Buenas opciones de desayuno y perfectamente preparadas. La cena muy buena como era el servicio. Muy servicial y particularmente amable en la recepción. La sugerencia de taxi fue genial, muy confiable y con un precio razonable. El bar es acogedor y la zona de asientos al aire libre era genial en un día tan caluroso. La ubicación es perfecta para explorar el pueblo, la ciudad, las tiendas, los restaurantes, el club de tenis y lo común. Aparcamiento gratuito también. . No me quería ir.

Very pleasant English pub hotel come restaurant arrived early so decided to have lunch before our 2 o'clock book in . Very nice food pleasant service. We was shown to our room and given a tour of the faculties available lovely comfortable bed and clean and tidy room very nice receptionist. Had a nice evening with friends drinks pricey but to be expected in the area. Think it would be nice if the staff had casual smart uniform but that's only because I couldn't pick them out sometimes. But would recommend and stay again .

I was fortunate to get tickets to this year;s tournament, and stayed here. The booking was different to the form because of the tennis. The cost was par for the area and the time with immediate payment non-refundable and the restaurant was closed for the evening for the duration, with burgers iavailable n the courtyard and life music. I was forewarned about all that, so knew what to expect. What was nice was the rooms were well appointed and the staff efficient and friendly. They knew exactly what they were doing and cleared the tables quickly and the room was back in order for breakfast the following day. Hope that all Youngs pubs' accommodation is as good as this!

i visited thw pub during wimbledon tennis finals week - very nice experience the food was very good the staff very attentive and the whole place was just perfect for a great lunch

I had a fabulous birthday party with 36 friends and family in the covered courtyard on Saturday evening. The bar staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and plentiful. The kitchen staff did an excellent job. We were quite lucky with the weather but after dark it was great to have the use of the heaters. The pub has a great atmosphere and we have enjoyed food in the restaurant before.

I went with female friends for a late lunch on Friday 31 May and had the cauliflower steak - it was absolutely delicious; exceptionally good. And nothing like my own attempts! Keep that chef!

We go as a group of 10 once a month th Duncan’s Quiz night. He runs it every week but we can’t get there that often. We all are and it was great. Hubby and I had the pork belly plus some veg.

We've stayed here a few times and eaten here quite a few times, and have always been very, very happy. The food is consistently good and the service is consistently good (even taking into account that it gets extremely busy at certain times of the week). The setting is great, the ambience is great, and the selection of beers, wines and food is terrific. What really makes it for us, though, is the people: Come here once, and you're make to feel like a welcome guest; come here a few times, and you're made to feel part of the family. Thanks to everyone at the R&C;!

Had an evening business meeting at this pub and found it had a great atmosphere, provided efficient and attentive service, and good quality pub food. What more could you ask for?

Visitamos como dos familias para el almuerzo del domingo. Llegamos a mediodía y habíamos hecho un pedido de comida a las 12: 30 y no recibimos nuestra comida hasta las 2 pm. Tuvimos que preguntarle al personal 3 veces, cada vez que leíamos la respuesta del guión de que la comida sería una hora, y cuando se nos dijo que ya habíamos pasado una hora, se disculparon, dijeron que volverían a nosotros y no lo harían. No fue hasta que me enojé con un camarero que el gerente finalmente vino a vernos para decirnos que habían perdido el pedido en la cocina. A pesar de poder reimprimir el pedido. Finalmente, la comida llegó, nuestro grupo estaba harto y el almuerzo se echó a perder. El gerente no nos cobró, pero esencialmente la administración es incompetente. Parece que hay muchos camareros presentes, todos parecen tener alrededor de 18 años, pero Dios sabe lo que pasa en la cocina. Todos los camareros parecían miserables.

Entré para un domingo asado con mi familia y saqué un chip en mi hombro (y algo de ansiedad por meter el chip). La comida tardó más de una hora en salir y, a pesar de mi clara muestra de falta de impresión que me ignoraron, el personal aquí claramente necesita una forma o brail para leer el lenguaje corporal. Asqueroso. Luego tuve que acercarme al gerente, que era desdeñoso y grosero, tenía una mirada persistente en sus ojos como si hubiera pateado claramente a un gato u otro animal pequeño antes, era muy inquietante. Finalmente, tuve que pedirle al novio de mi esposa que dijera una palabra, lo cual fue muy embarazoso para él, no debería tener que defender a mi familia cuando su único propósito es satisfacer a mi esposa. Cuando finalmente llegó la comida, la arrojaron sobre la mesa, como si intentaran aplastar una mosca con el plato, o lanzarles una golosina a los gatos que el manager pudo haber pateado. No solo pagué el promedio de la mejor comida con dinero, sino también con TIEMPO. El pobre esfuerzo, Rosa y corona, debería ser renombrado como "espina y casco".

He tenido un gran trabajo de comida de Navidad aquí hoy. Realmente impresionado con la calidad de la comida para un grupo ya que estas cosas siempre son un poco impredecibles. Particularmente me gustaron las verduras, ya que estas son a menudo una idea de último momento y se sacaron tazones extra de papas y verduras asadas. La opción de verduras era excelente. My girlfriend and I lasted about five minutes in this place.

We visited The Rose & Crown specifically for Sunday Roast lunch. We had friends visiting from South Africa and we needed a mid point for family to gather to catch up. We arrived early to et a table as we couldn't book for Sunday lunch on line. The bar staff were obviously new and lost but floor staff definitely saved it. The decor is traditional, I think it maybe need a declutering. The bar is at the front of the main restaurant with a sunny garden at the back. Whist this venue may appear dark from outside it actually a bright nice mix of many rooms so you never get the sense that it is a dull venue with mass produced food. We all had a Roast lunch - beef, pork and chicken . Each dish was excellent but I have to say that the pork was the overall winner. Beautifully presented. Excellent yorkshire pudding, pink beef, great gravy and outstanding gravy. Haden our waiter was excellent, witty with a good knowledge. Customer service with a smile. I cannot fault this place. Our South African friends have returned having had the best roast dinner ever. Thank you for a great day.

He visitado en varias ocasiones para bebidas/comida/tanto y el pub es consistentemente bueno. Me siento como tiene mucho más ambiente que el perro y el zorro por la carretera y un servicio mejor que el Fox y uvas al otro lado de la común. Es generalmente menos abarrotado y más adecuada para todas las temporadas. Los incendios están encendidas en el invierno y el jardín de la cerveza está en plena vigencia durante el invierno, impresionante. Los asados son especialmente buenas, simplemente haz lo contrario que puede esperar un rato! Entonces de nuevo, vale la pena la espera. Gran lugar si estás en la zona.

Este es un viejo pub grande con alojamiento en Wimbledon Village; justo en el borde del común, con una gran zona de comedor en la parte trasera. Cuatro de nosotros tuvimos una muy buena comida de domingo: mi pastel de pescado era excelente y trucha ahumada de mi esposa, pan de centeno y sopa de guisantes también dio en el clavo. Todo acompañado por un vino blanco de Rioja. Un servicio eficiente y una buena relación calidad-precio para esta zona de categoría. Nos visitantes regulares cuando vivíamos cerca de Wimbledon, y sigue siendo una espera muy fiable si estás en la zona.

Este hallazgo fue increíble para nosotros. Un poco más adelante de la estación de lo que esperábamos, pero la comida era deliciosa, el servicio era fantástico y el mantenimiento general y el ambiente era muy bueno. Gran jardín de cerveza (aunque era en su mayoría sombra cuando estuvimos allí. Sin duda, volveré a comer de nuevo.

Mi marido y yo nos alojamos por dos noches la semana pasada nos alojamos en la habitación 9, que era una habitación grande y preciosa, teníamos un desayuno encantador ambas mañanas servido por Jetta (he estado viniendo ahora por tres años y es bonito ver a algunos de los mismos feliz, el personal era amable y educado y la encantadora Jane en recepción que hará todo lo posible para ayudar y hacernos sentir bienvenidos. Teníamos un bistec encantador en el restaurante la segunda noche y fue precioso.

Cenamos en el restaurante en el pub. Preguntamos a la camarera si era el servicio de mesa y felizmente ella dijo que sí. Posteriormente tuvimos que encontrar nuestra propia menús y tras una larga espera a nosotros como servicios de bar era simplemente no asistir.

The pub is absolutely gorgeous. Really old traditional British pub. We had to start, the cured meat platter to share( It was massive and top quality meat served on a wooden tray. Who doesn’t like a bit of rustic). As main we had the duck ( 3 words “ To Die For”) and Monkfish scampi .. yes I need to repeat Myself real piece of Monkfish as a scampi ( can I have it for breakfast, lunch and dinner PLEASE ? ).

Very disappointing. Left feeling very hungry and went elsewhere. Service was great as usual and nice wine, but food a real let down . I had recommended it to my friend based on previous experiences.

Una pequeña joya, el hotel ha sido renovado a un buen nivel y nuestra habitación era espaciosa, muy tranquilo, tenía una cama cómoda y una buena ducha.

Habiendo planeado visitar otro pub, que estaba lleno, nos alegramos de encontrar (sólo unas pocas mesas de repuesto a la 1 de la tarde para comer el domingo.

Comida de Navidad en familia fue un gran éxito. El personal es tan agradable y una mesa bellamente decoradas. El menú era aventurero pero con todos los adornos de Navidad que esperas. El chef hizo un trabajo excelente y la comida era excepcional. Yo opté por la carne, que era de tamaño raro y perfectamente preparado. Propietario encantador y amable (señora) que dirigía todo el día perfectamente.

La esperanza de evitar las multitudes que normalmente acuden para su almuerzo de domingo llegamos a 3. 30:00h y aún tuvimos que esperar 20 minutos para una mesa para 6 huéspedes, aunque previamente habían reservado.

Thought it would be a good idea to have Christmas Lunch here at £31 for three courses with six friends. Quality poor an roast potatoes could have been yesterday’s an overall not good value at all. Did mention disappointment an was given free coffees...,please do not waste your money here for Christmas lunch. Do not feel they are bothered as in Wimbledon Village but plenty of better places at cheaper prices.

Refurbished to a very good standard, the room I stayed in was very comfortable and spacious; with complementary sky sports and a fantastic shower I could not fault it.

Service at the table from drinks to meal. Menu is compact but has enough choice of starters / light bites, main courses and deserts. The staff were attentive but without being intrusive and nothing was too much trouble. Only slight issue was child's meal coming...

We stayed here for two nights recently to attend a wedding, I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone in the area. The room was lovely with a very large and comfortable bed and a wonderful modern shower room, the fact that this establishment has its own car park for resident guests is an absolute boon and makes it the perfect option if you have to travel into the area with a car. The level of noise from the road outside was fine and caused us no problems.

We did not eat here but spent a couple of hours having a drink. The staff were friendly and the service good. The whole pub smelt of drains though. Not sure if it was a problem they were having on that day. Mentioned it to the staff but they offered no explanation. Didn't stop us from staying there and as the bar was very busy it didn't seem to bother anyone else.

We went to this pub today with friends for a Sunday roast. We found a table and settled down to what we hoped would be a lovely Sunday roast. My boyfriend and I ordered the roast beef and our friends chose duck. We waited 45mins and no food came. I asked two times and was told it would be a few more minutes. I was told a wait time of 45mins was normal! By now everyone around us had eaten and tables were clearing. A whole hour later our lunch arrived with no apology and it was overcooked. I pointed out the beef was well done and again was told that unless we asked to be served medium or medium rare, it was always served this way! How ridiculous! Beef is always served medium isn't it? Doesn't the chef know this? 31 day aged sirloin served well done? Really? The potatoes were dry and cauliflower cheese microwaved. Our friends had duck cooked to rubber as well. Having waited an hour, we were so hungry we begrudgingly ate it. No apologies or explanation other than it was all our fault. The arrogance of the staff was unbelievable. Such a shame. So many other great places to eat with better attitude. Don't waste your money here.

A group of 10 we went on a busy Friday Night to this pub/restaurant. The service was slow, and one diner was forgotten. The steak cost £26 - very overpriced. The table was too small for the numbers/crammed us in. The beer was great with local brewery ale.

We spend a lot of time here most weekends and love the drink options, food & particularly the staff. We really recommend roasts - reckon one of the best in Putney/Wimbledon area! Always very busy so keep in mind but there is a restaurant - not sure if you can book in advance.

My daughter & I spent two nights at rose & crown as always we had a fontastic stay again had dinner there the first night to celebrate my son's birthday it was a lovely night & staff were all lovely nice breakfast both mornings served by the lovely Jetta ( she was there last year ) and Jane on reception who is always very lovely, friendly & helpful . Lovely staff like that makes my stay every year very enjoyable a big thank you to lovely gentleman that brought my handbag to our room after I left it at breakfast most of the staff friendly & wine a bit expensive

I have visited this pub for drinks many times over the years especially as it is part of the well-regarded Young's Brewery estate. This is a lovely pub to enjoy time with friends in and on this occasion the bar staff were very nice and welcoming.We both ordered from the specials board and ordered the Stout Pork Collar Steak with garlic fries, parsley and a duck egg for what seemed a very reasonable £12 for this area.Although the food was edible this dish was totally uninspiring. The pork steak was very small and was very dry and tough. The fries looked like they were from the local burger bar and the duck egg was leathery underneath. It would be better to serve a decent range of traditional pub classics rather than this pretentious gastro fayre,However, I have no problem with continuing to visit for drinks in the future when in the area.

We went there for a monday night dinner with the in-laws and loved the food, the ambience and the friendly service. I ordered the beef burger which was moist and succulent, with chips - which were chunky, hot and crisp. The portion was rather big and extremely delicious. Highly recommend!

Lovely old coaching inn in Wimbledon Village. Lovely rooms and very good breakfast. Well trained and quiet young labrador a bonus!

My niece booked a surprise party for my birthday last night - my relatives travelled from Horsham to be there. A table for 9 people - some were there early with drinks and presents on the table. The waitress took our order for drinks and when my 17 year old 6ft2 nephew asked for a diet coke, she asked for his ID - we were told 'their policy' was no one under 18 years could be served after 8pm - it was 7.35pm - not at any time during the booking did anyone ask if there was anyone in the party under 18 - not on the email confirmation either! Unbelievably, we were told we could not be served. Absolutely appalling, I was speechless - so if you saw 9 people traipsing around the Village in the rain holding flowers and presents searching for somewhere - that would have been us. Thanks Rose & Crown - your 'policy that you didn't tell us about on booking' completely ruined my day - you should be ashamed of yourselves!!!

Come da titolo, non aspettatevi niente di strabiliante, ma la scelta limitata è servita con pietanza abbastanza gustose e non troppo ridondanti. Buone le salsicce con il purè. Ottima la loro ale.

First Tuesday of Wimbledon Tennis fortnight and the place was heaving - inside and outside in the beer garden. I was solo but easily grabbed a table and was served quite promptly - the waiting team were clearly run off their feet and I feared a long wait but once I caught the eye of one of the ladies, everything went well. Nice crispy squid, sausage and mash and creme brulee - with a pint - really satisfying and better than I might have expected. Slightly odd thing about my visit was the number of security staff (bouncers in my town) on the doors - I guess this was for additional security during Wimbledon Tennis fortnight and not indicative of regular troubles.

Love this place. Had a nice time during Wimbledon and the RadioTennis Show. No better place to stay and eat during the Wimbledon Championships

Went there yesterday with some friends. I ordered the slow roast belly of pork. It took nearly an hour to arrive, and was indescribably bad. It was on the menu as hacking pork crackling. It was quite obviously pork scratchings from a packet. Cold and hard and really unpleasant. The Yorkshire pudding was also cold, and tasteless. The roast potatoes, supposedly duck fat roast were just dreadful,; bland and not crisp as duck fat roast potatoes should be : clearly cooked at the wrong temperature. Overall, the food was cold and should not have been served. Our waitress was very sweet and apologetic, and refunded me the £15 cost of the meal, and also brought me a compensatory pint. Neither I or our friends would ever set food in this place again. They should be ashamed of themselves.

We have lived in Wimbledon for many years and often visit The Rose and Crown. It can be noisy, so if you are looking to go somewhere for good conversation, the restauraunt area is probably not the best place to sit, although on this occasion we sat at a table for two, which was positioned against a wall and quieter. We have eaten here on two previous occasions, and really enjoyed the food. Today we went there after enjoying a walk on Wimbledon Common, greeted as usual by very efficient and friendly staff. We enjoyed our Mackeral Pate starters, but the main, a Sunday Roast, was let down by the burnt Yorkshire pudding, and knife-breaking Roast Potatoes, I know this is not Master Chef, but Greg Wallace would have sent it back. We will certainly go there again, as we like the pub, the staff and the atmosphere. We will also eat there, but never have Sunday Roast there again.

Stopped for a drink Sunday afternoon to sit outside in the beer garden. Was lovely. Had Pimms. Nice vibe inside and out. Havnt tried the food so unable to comment on that. Friendly staff at the bar

The best meals prepared by the very talented chef.I´ve never tried the quite famous english dish Sunday roast, and what a meal... what a service! Definitely Rose and Crown has a new costumer spreading ads around... If you want to be well served, have a a good meal at the right price in a cozy place... this is the place!Recommended!

Rose and Crown is a nice English pub with a good selection on Young's beers. So nothing very interesting. (We could also taste iron in some of the draft beers...) But the space is very nice! And service is friendly!

Good friendly atmosphere, busy with drinkers and diners spanning the generations. Service is very good. Drinks sensibly priced, very nice garden/terrace area for the warmer months.

Have previously had good experiences here but this time we were sincerely shocked by the attitude of the manageress for the restaurant. We were placed on a table with extremely severe lighting which felt quite uncomfortable, so asked if there was anything that could be done to turn it down. Instead of trying to explain/being at all sympathetic, the manageress was extremely rude and dismissive. A real shame as this is normally a nice place and made the guests for my husbands birthday feel quite let down.

This is a great pub with a good atmosphere and large partly covered out door area. Unfortunately on New Year's Day the quality of the food was very disappointing. My partner had the Chicken which was very dry and overdone. The potatoes couldn't be cut as they were like bullets. I had the fish and chips. The chips were ok, but the batter on the fish was greasy. A shame it let itself down.

Fantastic place to go for a drink or eat. Shows live football, great atmosphere during the tennis in the summer. Great character and great customer service!

We came here for a catch up with some friends. It's quite a nice atmosphere and the team are friendly. I had duck liver to start and then fish and chips. The duck liver was mediocre (bit tough) but the fish and chips were great. The fish tasted fresh and the chips were well cooked. We all felt the menu was limiting. One of our party was a vegetarian and to be honest there wasn't much choice for her. The food was good but the menu needs a bit of work.

One if not THE oldest pub in Wimbledon Village. Busy and fun. Great garden, that could do with a bit of re-fresh as I think it gets a pounding. Good traditional pub- with rooms..

On an fairly quite Monday lunchtime we decided to pop into the fairly empty Rose and Crown for a spot of lunch after taking our 4 yr old for an adventure on the Common. We sat down in the front bar on a table that had salt and pepper on ready for a lovely lunch, coats off we were ready to enjoy what fair the Rose and Crown had to offer. Within seconds we were approached by one of the staff, who whilst politely, said we do not allow children in the front bar, you must move to the conservatory, implying if we did not agree we should take our custom elsewhere. It seems that if the back bar would have been busy our 4yr old would not have been welcome in the front bar even though on the website it says Children are welcome. Only for dogs does it stipulate where they can and cannot be in the pub.Because i was in no mood to argue the point because this popular pub was so empty we moved to the back of the conservatory and for a second time settled down to eat lunch. We ordered from the brunch menu (available until 3pm), and in no time our food was delivered. It was hot tasty with decent size portion, served by a lovely young waitress who could not be mor polite and attentive. The pub has a lovely atmosphere in the conservatory, but because we had our 4yr old with us we only imagine what it must be like in the front bar.

Great for friends gathering. Nice, cosy, small pub with the restaurant attached. Good and friendly service. 3 TVs for sport fans.

Good menu prices with a varied choice. Popular and pretty busy.Service a little slow but we were not in a hurry as staying in the hotel attached.

Staff are superb - esp Jane and Nicky - so welcoming, lovely atmosphere, great food and nice accommodation. Quite reasonable for such a good venue. My brothers and sisters just keep coming back to stay - and eat!

We went out to celebrate my sister's 30th birthday and recent engagement with family on Saturday night. Things started off really well. The food we really good, the wine was pretty decent, the service was good, and everyone seemed in good spiritis. We weren't kept waiting or anything. Maybe the general feeling of benevolence and good will to all had something to do with the three pints and a glass of fizz earlier that afternoon, but no matter. So far so good.So it somes to puddings. The sign says food was being served until 10pm and at about 9.40pm, the waitress says that the kitchen is closing but we could have coffees if we really wanted. We asked why we couldn't get puddings, as the kitchen was said to be open until 10pm and it wasn't as if we'd just come in through the door (we'd been there since 8.30pm). She just shrugged her shoulders and walked off. A few minutes later, someone comes to takes the bill. She asks if everything has gone well, and we say we were hoping to order some dessert. She too just shrugged and asked if we'd like to think about making a tip. Obviously. They clearly couldn't care less and, for the money we paid, we'd have expected better. It could have been a perfect evening but some dire customer service put dampers on the whole celebration. There's plenty better competition in Wimbledon and they probably deserve your custom.

My wife and I went to the Wimbledon Tennis Museum at the All England Tennis Club this afternoon and so ended up in Wimbledon Village (about a 15 minute walk from the Club) for dinner. After walking through most of the commercial part of this charming village (which is not to be confused with the adjacent town of Wimbledon), we decided to have the Sunday Roast dinner at the Rose and Crown. We were seated immediately in the very bustling dining room, which, at 6:15 on Sunday evening, was full of what seemed to be local families, including a decent number of small (but generally well-behaved) children. The room was noisy, but not unpleasantly so. Our waiter appeared without much of a delay, and proved very pleasant; he seemed to be enjoying himself, and was happy to answer our questions about both the food and the area.We started with a very good red pepper/tomato soup. I had the roast beef entree, while my wife had the beef/pork dinner. Both dishes came with Yorkshire pudding, goose fat roasted potatoes and roasted vegetables. Each was more than generous; I was too filled up by mine to be of much use to my wife as she tried to finish hers. The meat was very good; my wife particularly liked the Dingley Dell pork. The potatoes were fine. I'm not much on roasted vegetables, but I notice that there were none left on my wife's plate.No dessert; we were too full.Overall, a very good dinner at a very pleasant place off the beaten tourist track. We wholeheartedly recommend it.

rooms were nice and clean and well decorated. cost was £125 a night including breakfast. we stayed in room 2 which was near the car park but quiet.The room was very hot but had air conditioning which solved the issue but couldnt have the window open at night as our room was quite close to the street but no major issue really.cooked breakfast was sufficient but a few improvements needed such as more mushrooms, bigger tomatoes and better quality bacon needed. although the poached eggs were superb and the sausage was good and so was the salmon with hollandaise sauce.Overall the stay was good and I would return.Nice to have a decent cup of tea aswell. overall i would rate the breakfast a 7/10

The food is good, although not very imaginative. But the evening service was poor- very slow, the server actually forgot to bring our starter, and then didn't bring mustard when we asked for it, which annoyed me (and my guest). The Dog and Fox, just up the road, is much better (and belongs to the same company).

Good place to go, but lost it's personal side a long time ago. The food and drink is excellent and a great location.

This is a regular venue for me, so I only post a few reviews each year to update everyone on what the Rose and Crown delivers to customers. The beer is always good and there's usually a busy bar area to remind everyone it's a popular pub, even on week nights. Pub food is excellent with the option to sit by the bar or in the restaurant area, but always remember this pub is very busy at peak meal times and don't be disappointed if you have to wait a while to gain a table!Portions of the food are good, tasty and a menu that's interesting with the usual traditional dishes to please. Staff are polite and helpful and work very hard to keep up with the busy pace of the pub. If you hate fast food restaurants and want proper beer with traditional pub food, look no further. There are also a few rooms at the Rose and Crown for B&B, I've stayed there in 2015 and again excellent value for money.

Have eaten here several times recently with friends and family.A good range of traditional Sunday roast, food was every good, tasty and reasonably priced.Service was quick and friendly, pub felt relaxed and unhurried even thought it was busy Sunday lunchtime

4 of us went to the pub sat near a tv and had an evening meal watching the quarter finals of the tennis tournament to be followed by the euro 2016 football. The kitchen was closed so no further orders could be taken. We watched about 2 minutes of the football when some jobs worth, the man in charge turned the tv off and promptly walked out leaving the poor waitress to take all the flack. We were told that tv could not be shown in a restaurant.1.We had already been watching tv and 2. This was no longer being used as a restaurant. The room soon emptied(completely) and the waitress took the chairs away to a back room. We had to try to watch it another bar which was packed and many people standing in front of the tv. After about 1/2 hour SOMEONE turned the tv on and customers went to the back room to get the chairs to sit at the tables and the "restaurant" filled up again and we were able to watch the rest of the game. I think the behaviour of the jobs worth was very rude and disrespectful to paying customers. Shan't be going there again!

Stayed here with a lady in wheelchair,acess though dining room not the best way to get to room,The room large and easy to move about,lovely wet room ,good and comfy beds,breakfast excellent,plenty of food all nicely cooked,out side court yard very nice to sit out as we had sunshine,

Been here a few times for a Sunday lunch. Its a very busy pub so you have to be patient and a little lucky to get a table. The food is definitely worth it though. Really tasty well cooked food every time. Good portions to fill you up!.Would definitely recommend!
