The pub is an attractive building, the staff work hard and the ambience good. What let it down was the food which tasted average at best and the portion sizes were poor. My roast beef had 1 roast potato. Chef needs to up their game clearly.

Great Sunday roast, I had the honey roast gammon & my husband had the roast beef. Home made Yorkshire puds & delicious gravy. The sticky toffee pudding was great too. Excellent & friendly service from our server Florence even though it was busy. Other staff seemed friendly & helpful too. Would recommend.

This beautiful cute pub is what this place is all about !! Friendly cosy pretty and well what can I say about the food !! Best ham egg and chips we have ever had. The staff are very friendly and excellent choice of beers, wines, and spirits. There is a beautiful real fire and is just so cosy that you won’t want to leave. Sunday roasts are just the best around. Definitely a hidden gem in a beautiful setting.

This small old style pub offers a rewarding eating experience. On entering the pub through the well worn door you are into a warn old style pub interior that is very welcoming. The dining area is comfortable and spotlessly clean and staffed by knowledgeable servers. The menu is adequate with a good selection of starters and main meals as well as a selection for the specials board. The kitchen source good quality ingredients and prepare their dishes with love and care. Not a cook chill in sighting this establishment. My starter of home made Houmus and crudités were nearly a meal in itself. The nocellara olives were good however the kalamata olives were not up to standard and need attention. My main course of butchers cumberland sausages and seasonable vegetables wasvery good. The sausages were full of prime pork and seasoned to perfection. The seasonable vegetables of cauliflower florets, carrots and cabbage was both fresh and cooked with care to al dente slightly crunchy offering. This was accompanied separately with a tasty brown gravy. All delicious and very satisfying. The shepherds pie from the specials board was full of delicious seasoned lamb mince topped by a crusty mashed potatoes topping. The accompanying vegetables and garden peas were as above. All in all a very enjoyable meal in a pleasant atmosphere. I would recommend this establishment and we will definitely return again. If they maintain the high standard it could well become our local bolt hole. It was an affordable delicious lunch well presented.

We booked online for a 6.30pm meal on a bank holiday Monday. We received an email confirmation of the booking confirming all the details. We arrived at 6.20pm to find it closed for the rest of the day. We walked past a member of staff who did not even bother to tell us it was shut. We wondered what this family run pub was like. We will now never know.

Had a lovely , well priced , dog friendly lunch. Great food , lovely staff. Music a bit rocky. Say no more!

Third time coming here and each time the service has been slow. Food was shocking once but its a local pub and thought it deserved another go. This time (9/06/2023) my partner and I took our puppy for a spot of dinner. Ordered fish and chips, salad and two fruit ciders. Two fruit ciders came, and we sat in the beer garden awaiting our food. Finished our drinks ordered more and still awaiting our food. After about an hour and seeing people arriving we'll after us getting their food we went up to ask. Their response was the kitchen was busy. Upon further questioning the till had apparently broken. We have however confirmed we were charged and our drinks order which was placed at the same time as our food order had arrived. No manager came to speak with us nor did the person who physically took the order and payment though they had to know the till had crashed. I went to speak with the manager and pulled her to a quiet section of the bar to not cause a scene. I explained my discontent on the situation. She was apologetic until a man dressed in kitchen attire whom also called himself the manager "Glen" told me to have some understanding. I reverted whilst I sympathised with technological errors this order was placed to a person (the bar wasn't busy) and no manager came to address it. I advised my only purpose of speaking with them was to bring this to their attention and advise of the shocking service. As I walked away he remarked he wouldn't want my custom anyway. Needless to say this is absolutely disgusting and I would not recommend. After paying about £70 for food and drink and waiting over an hour for a salad we were out of there within 10 minutes of the food arriving

Great service from the bar team, beer was freezing cold and crisp. food was spectacular, the sciracha chicken and the squid was just to die for; also had a prawn linguine special which was also cooked perfectly. Definitely reccomend and I'll be back shortly!

Waited well over an hour for food . Restaurant virtually empty and hardly anyone eating outside . Was told on ordering the kitchen was closing in ten minutes, so where was the good after an hour ? No apology . We left .

Every ingredient carefully prepared, cooked properly and seasoned on point 👌🫡 ❤️ Tender meat, crispy spuds, shiny rich sauces — wonderful. Good down to earth friendly service too.

My son highly recommended Sunday lunch here. I had the vegetarian wellington it was absolutely delicious! The trimmings were also very nice everything was not over cooked and the gravy was lovely! We had chocolate brownie for desert which was also very nice. I live in north London and work in Belsize Park we have been to so many pubs for Sunday lunch around Hampstead the rose and crown was much more authentic and home made than the others! Will be coming back again.

Came here with a group of friends in Saturday lunchtime. I had the burger which was ok with well cooked bacon (as requested) and a good bun. Nothing special but an average pub burger. Fish and chips was acceptable but the fish was overcooked and had a hint of curry taste which was strange. And managed to find what looked like uncooked batter in it (which was odd as it was so overcooked and crispy!) Chips were very nice though and plenty of them. Chocolate brownie with ice cream was nice. But the menu didn't say it comes with chocolate sauce so my wife ate most of it. Service was very good even though the staff were all very young. We come here once a year normally to meet up with friends. I probably wouldn't choose to eat here otherwise as the food isn't quite up to standard for the price.

My husband, mother-in-law and myself visited for a late lunch on the recommendation of a friend and we weren't disappointed. We hadn't booked and the pub was busy but we were quickly seated as soon as a table was free by extremely friendly, helpful staff. I explained I was gluten free and was shown which dishes were suitable. We had bread and oils to start with including a separate portion of gf bread for me (no extra charge!). Mains of sea bass, baked salmon and lamb shank were delicious with lovely veg. They cherry pie and rhubarb and apple crumble also proved to be winners. There's a good selection of beers, ciders, wine and spirits and we thoroughly enjoyed the mulled wine. This would have had a 5 star rating but the service charge had already been added to the bill, a personal bugbear of mine - we would have added a tip anyway as the service was very good. We will definitely return, hopefully when the weather is better so we can enjoy the lovely garden.

This pub has a really large garden with a play area for children. Great if you have children/dogs. If the weather is cold dogs are allowed in the bar area but there are only 3 or 4 tables there so you might like to book ahead. The food is really good -and the staff are very friendly.

We were a party of 6 booked for dinner at 6.30 pm . It took an hour for our food to arrive and 2out of 6 meals were sent back as they were cold. The clearly stressed server was mortified. 2 of the dishes were called beef bourgineon but were slabs of solid beef on the plate with a jug of gravy. Half the menu was unavailable to order and the place was deserted with the kitchen in darkness by 8.30pm. Shambles.

I ordered the Feta salad and was truly disappointed. Some salad leaves thrown onto plate, with only 4 cubes of Feta, 2 small tomatoes cut in half and a bit of cucumber for £13.95!!!! I was still hungry and don’t think I will be back!

Quality of food was good and good table service. Very disappointed at the high cost of the service charge which was added to the bill but not informed of this especially as I also left a 10% tip. !! After the 50% discount on the food my voluntary tip and your compulsory service charge, I only finished up with 25% discount. Diners beware !!

We walked in to a wonderful earthy smelling quaint old pub, in a beautiful country setting. Free parking without registration was beneficial. Beside the entrance is a new structure for outside dining, or smoking, with heaters. Dining inside is a fresh, cosy restaurant, with plenty to hold your attention. The attention to detail is no less displayed by all the staff, pleasant, attentive and welcoming. We had a homemade pie and a burger, followed by crumble and custard. The quality and flavours shone through, and it was also nice to find the 50% off on food is extended into September. Overall a very pleasant experience which we will be repeating soon. Take the chance it will be worth it.

We (family of 4) had a delicious dinner here. Food excellent. We sat in the very pretty garden & tables nicely distanced. Staff took orders at the table to prevent overcrowding at the bar, which seemed well organised. We did have quite a bit of a wait for food, but staff were friendly & kept us informed. We’re definitely planning to visit again soon.

Really lovely tasty food! We went here as a group of four and all really enjoyed our food. Value was great as we went for eat out to help out. The staff were friendly and very accommodating. Only downfall would be the measures they have in place to control COVID weren’t very good. We had a great meal and would be going back again soon!!

Nice outdoor setting with lots of benches both on the grass and under the canopy. Decent choice for vegetarians - olives, breads, veg Wellington with all the trimmings (I have rarely seen a veg option!) which was nice and a refreshing goats cheese salad. The veg burger also sounded good but we didn't get this, one for next time! Friendly and fast service when it came to ordering food and drinks.

Went here for eat out to help out lunch. Service was very slow because of lack of staff (staff were working hard just not enough of them). Food took 45 mins, not really acceptable for lunch. Tasty food for the price (50% off the normal price) but normal price is overpriced for what we got. Nothing to make us return anytime soon unfortunately.

Went yesterday for lunch, nice setting, nice large garden but very slow for our food to arrive, around 40 minutes and they weren't that busy.A table of six opposite us had left a right mess on the table and I watched two girls come over and pick up all the dirty glasses BY PUTTING THEIR FINGERS IN THEM. Was so shocked, they should have been picked up and put on a tray. I would hope that they then washed their hands but if not, they were delivering our food and cutlery with hands that had come into contact with the other diner's saliva. They then made no attempt to sanitise or even wipe the table, they pushed the chairs back up to it and I could see all the sticky drinks still glistening on the table.Another couple came ten minutes later and sat at the table, blissfully unaware of the pub's complacent attitude to their safety.Roast beef overcooked and chewy, Yorkshire puds overcooked and potatoes not crispy - a poor experience.I dont like to do a business down post lockdown but having seen what great lengths other pubs have gone to, there is no excuse for this.

Met up with my parents (mid 80s) and my sister for lunch. I chose it, having had a pleasant meal there a year before. Started well with the ambiance and friendly staff. Starters took an age to arrive, but were very good. the place was half full at most, so I don't why it took so long.Mains were not very good.  My sister didn't get what she ordered.  Given how long we had waited she ate it anyway.  My wife's fish pie was pretty awful. Not too sure what burger I got, but it didn't appear to match the description on the menu.Nearly 2 hours for a 2 course meal without coffee etc is too long for a pub lunch.We didn't complain at the time as I know it wouldn't have pleased Mum and Dad.3 stars is generous but I guess everywhere has it's "bad" days and the starters were great.

We have visited this pub numerous times both in Winter and Summer and have always been served brilliantly and the food is always very good. Nice big beer garden to eat outside summertime and a very cosy pub indoors with a conservatory area too. It is between Harefield and Rickmansworth on a country road and is well worth a visit. London Pride on draught!

We have coming back to this place from time to time since 2009. The current experience is very good. Cosy atmosphere, open fire and friendly staff. Food very good in big portions.

Excellent Sunday lunch at the Rose & Crown and amazed at how busy it was on a late Sunday afternoon, as I did not have a reservation but managed to get a table. It’s great to see small pubs like the Rose & Crown doing good business so do support them.Menu were brought straight away and some tap water, choice was a little limited on the Sunday menu but you are here for a roast dinner so perhaps a good thing. My baked goats cheese salad was delicious, nice salad leaves, the addition of beets and walnuts added to the flavor. The game & port pate was very tasty, but perhaps a little more toast would have been an idea.The roast beef main was a feast, the yorkshire perfectly crispy and light, lashings of gravy, perfect roasties and a nice selection of veggies and the best roast beef, nicely cut and a very decent portion, tender and not at all tough. Meat is from local suppliers and fresh.Service was faultless, very attentive, plates cleared away instantly, water bottle refilled without hesitation, the bill came when requested and the staff were very interactive with others customers , friendly and provided excellent service which deserved a good tip!

Can't complain about a single thing, service was extremely good, food and drink was excellent and reasonably priced.

Booked off the festive menu, all the food was excellent. We had crackers. Staff really nice and attentive and let us eat at our own pace. We asked for the table by the fire as we had our elderly parents with us and they accomodated us with no problems. All in all, brilliant. Thanks

This is not a pub it’s a restaurant, the three times I’ve been in here recently. I’ve been asked to move as they want the table for food,the bar area has two stool’s ,this is apparently the only place available for people who just want to pop in for a pint ,that’s if you can put your drink down as the bar is full of dirty glasses for the food tables , so don’t go here if you want a quite drink you can’t ,

A last minute phone call to this lovely pub and they managed to find us a table for 7 people.

Four of us had an excellent lunch at the busy and friendly Rose and Crown after a walk at Rickmansworth Aquadrome. The service was efficient and friendly and the choice of food and drink plentiful. Everything came quickly despite the pub being pretty hectic with happy punters.

Came across this by chance as the one we had intended going to did not have parking. This is in a quiet setting with a pleasant garden. Attractive dining area, although not especially cosy. Service was good, and the food arrived quickly and was piping hot. Very enjoyable.

I recently took a group of friends to the Rose and Crown, and I was quite pleasantly surprised with the service and food. The decor of the place was very warm and welcoming as were the staff.

A lovely venue, personable staff and excellent food. We visited for lunch and ordered a selection of starters so we could explore the menu. All four dishes were delicious. Good size portions and beautifully flavoured food. We will definitely return.

Having lived in Rickmansworth for 20 years, it is by far our favourite pub. Your front of house team are flawless, with fantastic customer service and attention to to detail. We were here last Sunday & you always make us feel so welcome and accommodate our family brilliantly.

My wife and I visited with my uncle and aunt. First of all I have to say we loved the ambience of this pub, they have a good car park and garden area. We had made a reservation for Sunday lunch and that was seamless. Overall the service was friendly and personable. We actually appreciated the slow service as we were catching up, however for others the service would have been to slow. We all ordered two roast beef, one pork and one lamb shank between us. For me the beef was over cooked and I would have preferred it medium-rare. The pork and lamb though were cooked well. The veg on the other hand was below average the parsnips under cooked, the roast potato especially were a disappointment. We ordered an extra cauliflower cheese which was delicious but at £3.50 was just to expensive. All in all we spent £32 per person for a Sunday roast, two pints, a coffee and a dessert each and this for me is just not value for money. The desserts in particular feel like they should be £2 cheaper.

Just returned from a Sunday lunch. I’m usually underwhelmed by pub roasts but that was not the case here. Generous portions and great quality food with Yorkshire Puddings to write home about. Save room for dessert! Service was super friendly and attentive. We will be returning.

Booked for Sunday lunch as reviews were excellent. Must say was very disappointed. The Sunday roast was average; the potatoes were hard on the outside as though they had been cooked the night before and the Yorkshire was overcooked. The portion size was small. The staff however were very attentive. Wouldn't go again.

We visited on a friday night. This is a pub first and a restaurant second. It was a warm evening, so we chose to eat outside. This means you have to order at the bar, which takes ages. Also outside, everyone smokes which is unpleasant when you're eating.Food was nice, not a huge choice for vegetarians and only one item on the menu is actually marked as (V).

We came here for my parents 50th Wedding Anniversary - they had their Wedding drinks here 50 years ago. It was great that it was still around - so many pubs have closed down now. We sat in the garden for a while so the children could play in the little park area, and with the bat and ball. We went inside and it is very cosy. The food was great and reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for you. They also had a live band which gave the whole evening a great atmosphere. We will definitely be coming here again.

I visited today with a few friends and had a lovely lunch in the sunshine in the pretty garden outside. Food was excellent quality and good value and service was outstanding! This is becoming a favourite. So close to Ricky but you really feel in the country. Looking forward to my next visit already.

Have just had a Sunday late afternoon dinner here , after a friends recommendation l& will absolutely be back again , great freshly cooked food, piping hot starters & mains , great puddings .

Booked a table Tuesday early evening the food was amazing I had the rib eye my wife the fish cakes mum had duck stir fry and my young daughter sausage and chips we had the tapas starters squid ,chorizo, wings and stuffed peppers the guys in the kitchen do a great job it was perfect as was the deserts ,I wish this was my local such a lovely pub

A very enjoyable evening out with excellent food. My partner had the fish pie.Thin crisp pastry was packed full of fish and the sauce served separately in a little milk churn was creamy and piping hot. I had best-ever chips with my chicken burger. All the staff were welcoming and professional and the atmosphere was convivial and relaxing. Unfortunately, for vegetarians the only listed main course option was a warm goats cheese salad. Definitely warrants a return visit.

Haven't been for years and decided to give it a try. A lovely spot with attractive decor and conservatory. But you expect more than steak pie and chips, fish and chips, burgers and £7.60 for a glass of wine. Quiet evening but quite a long wait. Very pleasant and polite waitresses.So not on our list for another visit. Sad - used to be so good.

Came here on Saturday evening for dinner with my boyfriend. The service was excellent, very friendly, attentive and waitresses were knowledgeable on all dishes. I had an ice cold Grapefruit G&T;, followed by very crispy coated, succulent calamari - delicious. The manager recommended one of their burgers and it was absolutely fantastic. Chargrilled, with a soft brioche bun and coated in a spicy BBQ sauce with crispy onions. Accompanied with really crispy sweet potato fries.

We took a friend with us for a meal. I had the Blues bothers burger meal and a pint of old rosie. My wife had the baked goats cheese salad as a main course and an old rosie shandy, my wife’s friend had the Dukes of hazard burger meal with sweet potato fries and a half of old rosie. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals, and a bit of banter with the staff. Will definitely return.

Went to Black Horse in Harrow & had a terrible experience last Sunday so we thought we would come here. Wow - lovely food great service & atmosphere. I had the roast beef - delicious and hubby had the chicken very nice. Puddings yummy as well. Well worth the visit - a bit pricier than others but worth it as it's so disappointing when you get served dried up food & cardboard steak as in the Black Horse last Sunday.

I recently visited The Rose and Crown with my son on Mothers' Day, unplanned and without booking, and we had a wonderful time. Despite the pub being incredibly busy, we were greeted warmly, and space was made for us at a small table in the bar, so that we wouldn't be disappointed. The service was excellent, and the food - the camembert and goats cheese - was quick, and tasty. Based on this experience, I chose to take my husband there this past Sunday, and I am sorry to say that this time the experience was not a positive one. Our server was in training - which of course is not a problem - but unfortunately she was not attentive, and therefore it meant I had to constantly chase her attention. The Beer was lovely, but the prosecco was cold. I had a burger which was cold, and the cheese and bacon was tough and tasteless. My husband's meal was fairly good, and he did enjoy the sweet. Unfortunately, at the end, the server made an error with our bill - giving us the receipt for the wrong table, which had a lesser amount to pay. Therefore, when we presented the amount of money, we were told - without much grace - that we owed more than we had given. The manager was called, who explained what had happened, but no attempt to apologise, or to recover the fact that we had been made to feel it was our fault, was made. It was a shame, as my previous visit there had been so lovely, but I do feel that this experience would prevent me from coming back again. It was simply not good enough for the amount we paid.

Been here many times and never disappointed. Varied menu at reasonable prices including a large selection of gluten free, beers well kept, often with guest beers which change regularly, some excellent 'specials' including weekly burger and beer for £10, monthly quiz nights and dog walking. Staff are very good, attentive without being annoying and provide service with a smile.

We have been here numerous times in the past 6months and have never been disappointed.

My niece was home from uni and picked here for lunch, we were not disappointed, lovely place, full of character, the service was really good and the food was well presented and very tasty, it was a Wednesday lunch time and the place was packed, which I think says it all really!

The Rose and Crown is a cosy pub with a rustic garden. We felt the food was variable in terms of quality, although the starters of goats cheese and baked camembert were good. However, one of our party had a bean burger for the main meal which was covered in mustard but that wasn’t mentioned on the menu.

Wanted somewhere we could take our doggy so thought we would try this pub. First time here on entry lovely open fire, candles on the table and very friendly staff very cosy environment the restaurent looked great to, we could only stay in the bar area as dogs arnt allowed in the restaurent. We didnt book but was lucky enough to find a nice seat.

Have visited the Rose and Crown several times recently. I am not a 'drinker' and therefore cannot comment on the beers etc. What I can say is that it's always very welcoming with a fire burning in the winter months, a nice choice of food with quality ingredients and good portions...but, most of all, brilliant staff. Ellie is a gem, always looking after you, nothing seems too much trouble. It's good old customer service with a smile...something that has been lost in so many establishments over the years.
