No longer open as is the case for Gambos - another Italian restaurant. Tried to find a decent restaurant in Haverford West after 6.00 p.m. and found nothing.

We dined at the restaurant last saturday evening there were a few couples eating but the room being so large could do with blinds, candles...i know there going for modern but its a little harsh! Food was very nice portion sizes very large could maybe cut it down a bit and give a better side salad but this is my opinion as some may like the large portions.... Waitress was very polite and chatty.

We recently had a set meal at Romanos - we were planning to go to the Court House but it was closed due to staff shortage which was a disappointmwnt. I opted for the set 2 course menu and my partner picked from the normal menu. I had the bruschetta to start and he had the garlic bread with mozarella. Both were quite frankly tasteless! I had the spaghetti bolognese which was okay but could have done with more sauce and some *garlic and *onions. *It appeared to have none of these!! No mushrooms neither! On the plus side the meat was tender. My partners carbonara was another thing - quite frankly tasteless - he was very disappointed. We decided not to have a dessert. The drinks were quite expensive. The lady serving seemed pleasant. We were left wondering if the Court House would be any better if it is ever open!!

Went there for lunch with my friend & daughter. When we got there, there were only 2 other tables occupied, so was nice & quiet. After a 10 minute wait, we had to request the menu & ask if we could order drinks....Waitress said yes no problem & she would back in a bit.... After another 10 minutes, she returned to take our drinks order (2 coffees & a coke!) we then said that she could take our food order at the same time.We then proceeded to wait for 1 hour & 30minutes for 2 pasta carbonara & a spaghetti bolognese!!!I know the good is cooked from fresh, but SERIOUSLY, that is far too long!!! Especially with a hungry child with usWhen the food eventually came, with no apology for the delay, we'd given up the will to live & though it took so long it was average. Honestly I've made nicer meals myself in half the time!!It has put me off returning here again in the future which is a shame as I do like supporting local businesses

We had originally decided to give this place a miss having looked at the menu and seeing that the Spaghetti carbonara was more like chicken fricassee with pasta but after wandering around for a while and not finding anything really whetted our appetites we decided to give it a go. To my pleasant surprise to food was very good as was the service and all for a reasonable price (we had two starters, two mains, shared dessert and a bottle of wine for £41). It’s not fine Italian dining but you could certainly do much worse.

.We went with friends to celebrate a birthday. Arrived at 6.30pm and we were the only customers. A father and daughter arrived a little later and were seated alongside our table - a problem in that he was on his mobile speaking loudly most of the time or she was texting. The pizzas were very ordinary, tasting very much of tomato puree. We thought maybe the Tiramisu would prove to have that authentic Italian touch we were promised. Not so! It looked attractive but consisted of a hard, dry biscuit layer rather than the coffee soaked sponge fingers we hoped for. We complained to the very pleasant but very young waitress who merely said she would tell the chef. At nearly £70 for four, it was a very mediocre meal and a very mediocre experience that, as locals, we will not repeat.

We have eaten here several times, both at lunchtime and in the evening. They even stayed open for us one evening. Sadly, not many people are using this restaurant. The food is made to order. Brusetta is good for starters. Pizzas are good....thin base and well made. Unusual for me to eat more then half a pizza, but these are good. Choice of drinks good. Lunchtimes busier than evenings.I really don't understand why people are not eating here. We live locally and would rather eat in the independent restaurants than eat at places you can visit in any town. I'd suggest to locals that you consider....use it or lose it...and we think this is worth having!

I have eaten at this restaurant on several occasions when it was known as "Mambos" and each time it was a pleasant experience. Unfortunately last night I found the service very slow (40 minute wait for our pizzas.) We arrived at about 6:45 and there was no other customers. Two other groups of customers arrived shortly after we had but were served their food (including pizzas) before us. When, after 30 minutes, I asked how much longer we would have to wait, the lone waiteress was very apologetic, however when I heard her ask the chef how long our order would be, she was told (within in my earshot) "Well, they'll just have to wait for them to cook." A starter of olives, oil and "fresh baked" bread was very disappointing. About ten bland olives but, to be fair, sometime in the preceding 72 to 96 hours, the small, thin slice of doughy bread, cut into three tiny pieces, would definitely have been "fresh baked." However the whole meagre ensemble did not warrant £3.90.The pizzas when they arrived were, as "david d" has already described in his review, "plain with little taste." My "Frutti del Mare" boasted baby octopus tentacles with the consistency of those rubber toys you can throw against glass to watch crawl down. In fact, I thought that perhaps that is what they may have been, in the manner of a Happy Meal Toy. I resisted the temptation to chuck them at the windows as I know the Shire Hall is a listed building and that sort of thing is probably frowned upon by the relevant authorities. We had two desserts (brownie and treacle pud) which were good but not £5 a pop good. When we came to pay the till was broken and the poor, harrassed waitress was valiantly trying to work out the individual bills of four pre-loaded girls ready for a night on the lash. So, when I saw the Trip Advisor card on the bar I didn't have the heart to make her night even more awful by listing my catalogue of disappointments (though I noticed that she didnt ask if everything had been all right - cant blame her, I'd have done the same in her position.)She then incorrectly totalled up our bill and looked as though she would rather be anywhere else but there. As a post script when we got to the car I found I had lost my mobile. When I went back she and another waiter were very helpful in looking for it. It wasnt there but subsequently found elsewhere. I was very disppointed compared to my previous visits in its Mambos days. I hope it picks up as there are very few places in Haverfordwest to eat in the evening where you can take two kids and avoid pre-booking, unappertising deep-fried horse derivative pub grub and loutish beer monsters. I will give it another chance as anywhere can have an off night but, if it is a similar experience I won't be returning.

Visited on Saturday night with friends, their idea not ours, they had looked on Trip Advisor for suggestions on where to go and come across this place. The food certainly wasn't 'Authentic Italian' as advertised, plain pizzas with no taste, overcooked pasta, served by untrained staff. We checked on trip advisor to see what had gone wrong and could see that lots of the reviews were obviously done by either the owner or staff as they had done reviews for the sister restaurant, The Restaurant at Shire Hall, as well, but no others, see for yourself .(114Laura-nharryh + more)This knocks our confidence in trip advisor as you don't know what to believe. Digging deeper on trip advisor we found that both restaurants in the building had a score of 1 out of 5 for health and safety (look it up). I would not recommend eating here, and would certainly not go again. If you want a Mediterranean experience visit 'Casa Marias' over the road, 'Carbone' by the Riverside Shopping Centre or 'The Georges' up the hill

This isn't a review of the restaurant as such, it is a review of the staff. We read the menu outside and I went in to check whether it was wheelchair accessible. There was a large lift to the upper floor which boded well but we could see no way of entering the building (my mother has sever arthritis and can not climb steps). The waitress in the coffee area conceded that she thought there was a ramp and she would check "but I'm very busy". I appreciated that and when she was free I asked her to check if there was a table for three and if so could we have the ramp. She called the restaurant upstairs who were as unhelpful as she was and didn't know if there was anyone available to find the ramp! So we didn't bother!

Went for lunch a while back. Restaurant has a great potential and looks good (apart from holes in the plaster board) with the products all around. The menu is very weak in terms of authenticity, italians dont just eat garlic bread, pizza and pasta!!! the olives were very good but the salumi (meats) were just vac packed bland run of the mill, extremely un impressive espeially when they have whole legs of prosciutto hanging on the wall! Its definately a pet hate of mine when italian restaurants call any creamy pasta dish a carbonara!! a carbonara is called so because of the black pepper within it and should have cured pork cheeks/pancetta, egg, parmesan & cream. A classic that should not be messed with... certainly shouldnt have chicken in it.Pizza was exteremly poor, plastered with ready grated packet/reconstituted mozzarella, bland pre sliced meats and very poor tomato sauce. the pizza oven was impressive but from tasting the pizza it was clear that only the top of oven as turned on! the result: very heavy, stodgy, greasy pizza with a soggy base that just added to its blandness. The owner should have saved money and just bought a grill! This place could be great if only they had a chef who understood italian food.. restaurant has good vibe and service was very good indeed, our waitress was efficient, friendly, knowledgable and highly professional!!

Went there by mistake (google maps still maps the old pizzeria to this area, and the new owners conveniently kept the big sign of the old place with great reputation). Pizza was awful. The dough tasted like out of some ready made pack, and it was undercooked. The tiramisu was hopefully a mix up with some other dessert since it didn't ressemble a tiramisu in look, or taste. The coffee was bad too. Will never go there again and actually made an effort to write the review here to prevent others from a bad experience. If you're in Haverfordwest and are looking for Mambo Italiano, don't go to the Shire hall but down to the riverside (it's called Carbone and Grill now) - we went there the next night to restore our beliefs in italian food. At least the waitrose was nice, to leave the review on a positive note.

There was a fantastic atmosphere when we arrived in the restaurant. There was a table of women that looked to be having a table full of food that later I was told their buffet option. When we sat down and ordered our food, we had free olives as we waited. When the food it arrived, it was well presented, with fresh ingredients the carbonara was packed full of flavour. My partners pizza was classic italian thin crust pizza which we watched the chef make with care and attention. I think if you want a good quality Italian experience in Haverfordwest, come to romanos. The evening was a disaster. The whitebait was very salty and I left 3/4 of it. We told the waitress but she just nodded politely. My main course was seafood linguine, I had one solitary king prawn and my sister had 12! My cheesecake was 'de-constructed', but to be honest with you it looked like it had been scooped up off the floor! When I removed all the unnecessary foliage off the cheesecake, there was hardly any biscuit. The biscuit that was there hadn't even been broken up and still had 'digestive' written on it! In fairness, the waitress offered me another dessert and also offered me more biscuit. She also took the dessert off the bill.We were disappointed, especially as we'd had such a super meal the previous month.

The food here was fairly tasty and reasonable selection, the service however was poor. We arrived with 2 kids and were told there were no high chairs, but there was a family just finishing so we could wait or go back to our chalet and get them(!). We decided to wait, only to see that the family finishing their meal took the high chair with them as they had been told the same so went and lugged theirs from their accommodation!! Therefore I had to go and get highchairs from our own chalet. Then they brought our drinks, managing to spill one all over my lap. Service was generally slow.
