Rolo's Fish and Chip Shop in Antrim

I have never in my life had anything so greasy. It was literally dripping from the fish. The entire paper & bag were sodden. 30% of it was just batter and despite asking 3 times I still did not get salt & vinegar. At £8.90 it was already seriously expensive never mind then being inedible. I preordered over the phone and was the first into the shop so it definitely wasn’t busy. Absolutely revolting

Visited Rolo's tonight for a family treat and it was excellent everyone enjoyed there food with nothing left (big portions) fish crispy and the rissole excellent big shout out to the staff doing an excellent job preparing the food to a very high standard. Well done

Sorry Gary didn't mean to give you a thumbs up rolos has to be one of the cleanest and friendliest wee chippys I have had the privilege to visit only place I know that does battered haggis in northern ireland well worth the trip 😀 😊

Went in only to get a small chips. I watched the young girl serving food and was appalled. She ignored the tongs for picking up salad items and got in there with her bare hands. She then took payment with cash. She then lifted raw bacon to place on the grill. She then assembled a burger. All the salad should have been thrown in the bin along with the other food she prepared. Not once did she wash her hands at any point. Cross contamination was everywhere. Environmental Health have been informed.

Battered sausage was not cooked inside, gravy was like thick, weird tasting sludge. Terrible 🤢 Would rather go hungry than waste money there again.

We love Rolos! Best chippy we’ve ever been to. They gave us an extra tiny burger for my daughter when we ordered the last time and it was super kind and thoughtful. Thanks Rolos! You have a loyal customer here! The cod bit special is the best!

Ordered food for 13 kids, absolutely delicious and kids were very pleased. Staff were very polite and helpful with the orders, portions were more than adequate so had to finish of a few myself lol. This is the number one chippie in antrim, so I would highly recommend eating here should you be local or just passing through. Gold stars all round

Always loved Rolos, but last two times, awful.if you like small portion of fish(black, inside not really white.terrible fish. Last time i used was half raw. Gave them benefit of the doubt. Horrible.

we stopped here last week on our way through antrim. the guy taking the order kept saying i wanted batterd sausages to the cook not battered mushrooms. she knew what i said and corrected him. asked for a fork to be told sorry no forks. good job my hands were clean to eat a curry chip, was told they would be one the next day. what was i supposed to do. go back and get one so i could heat them up.opened the battered mushrooms and thought wow that is a big portion of 8 only to discover the mushrooms were cut in half. 4 whole mushrooms for £2.80. rip off as all i tasted was batter. false advertising. it is battered half mushrooms. won't be back again even if i bring my own fork

Absolutely fantastic taste amazing massive staff super helpful with choice of sausage couldn't ask for better

Got a take away from here and was not disappointed! Food was delicious!! Chips were the nicest that I have tasted for a long time! Burgers also very tasty, not greasy and well cooked, the burger bap was also toasted (yummy). Staff very friendly and pleasant. Portion sizes very good. Looking forward to coming back for another chippy tea.

Very crispy thin batter and fresh cod, we were all very impressed. Service from Susan was great, very friendly. Worth the drive. Will be back!!

I have got take aways from here a few times recently. The food is superb and the staff are excellent. The portion size is excellent too so they do not lose quality because of quantity.

We called in for dinner prior to catching the ferry across the water. Lovely welcome and good service throughout. Piping hot and masses of chips, there was too much for two of us. Haggis was a delight. Even the police eat here!

Called in to collect a phone order. Couple of fish suppers and a sausage supper. All made fresh while you wait. Girls are a credit to the place, pleasant, polite and look a well organised team. Still had a 10 minute drive before getting the food home and none of us could believe it was still roasting. Fish was huge and the chips were superb. That curry sauce though? Wow .Daughter now ranks this above what was her best chippy in the country. Won't mention make a but they're on the north coast. We'll be back soon.

Been going every week now to get a big order. Went in yesterday and when I got home I was shocked at the battered sausages, they were fried that long the batter would have broke your teeth. The worst was the fish. It was like a piece of fish had been chewed up and spat out and refried.

OMG WOW!!!! absolutely fabulous cod bites supper n peas delivered real quick, staff so, so friendly r a pleasure to talk to, cod bites so beautifully crunchy n such a big portion, my mum belle 86 years old is raving about rolos, she has still 6 cod bites to heat again in oven tomoro as we r both full up to the necks! amazin value, buzzin that rolos delivering, cant b beaten,wil never order from anywhere else, everyone should treat themselves to a rolos meal!!! iz n belle :)

Rolos catered for my sons 9th birthday today at an outside venue for 10 kids.. What can I say, food was amazing and so well presented. Came delivered exactly on time and still piping hot.. Staff were very pleasant and accommodating. All the kids ate every last bit and the parents commented on the standard of food.. This is clearly the best chippy in Antrim and would very much recommend to anyone looking traditional takeaway food. Prices also hard to beat.

This is one of if not the best chip shops I've visited in the Ballymena/antrim. Having worked in a well know chip shop in Ballymena I know what to look for in regards to cleaning and good quality food. The staff are as friendly as can be and the food on offer is like nothing I e ever seen. Today I ordered the battered black pudding and it was amazing it just burst with flavour and I can't wait to come back. If you want to get an amazing feed at a fantastic price I can't reccomend this place enough.

I am writing this from the greasy grave that I drowned in upon opening the soaked onion rings I had so gladly waited on. After reading such flowery views, I much awaited the greatness described. To say I was disappointed was, an understatement. Of all the chippies between portrush and belfast, I somehow managed to land in the worst one. The fish and chips has somehow congealed into one. This is single handedly the best fish and chips in the county , if not the country . The food here is delicious and I can only recommend the curry sauce because there is no other sauce like it . The staff in rolos are pleasant and speak with confidence to speed up the ordering process so you’ll be eating your food in no time . In addition , the staff work diligently and with an air of gravitas to supply the food quickly . Overall , this restaurant has revived 5 starts from because there is not a single bone to pick with this chippy as it’s everything you could want and more .

Called in at lunch time on a Monday. Got a goujons special, haggis and a pastime special. Without doubt the best chippy chips and curry sauce I ever had. Massive portion of goujons. My son was living his best life. I'm aware this shop has been subjected to targeting by social media hard men warriors lately. Read past the nonsense because the food is awesome. You won't be disappointed.

I called in here regularly on route home from Belfast while attending football matches,in September past I got a very poor meal and said I would give here a miss for a bit,unfortunately I called in yesterday and the food hasn't improved one bit..... That's all I have to say as this establishment doesn't seem to like poor reviews......

Rolos is an unreal chippy one of the top bracket in county antrim certainly didn't see any rats but walked past 147 snooker and pool and the place stunk of G. Nearly put me off my rolos but i soldiered on and got one anyway definitely worth the effort.

Great little takeaway. Large portions, lovely chunky pieces of fish and nice chips too. Been a few times and never been disappointed.

Went here for 3 fish suppers. Fish was good - flaky in the middle with crisp batter. Chips were nice. Not the bland and pale ones you get elsewhere. Staff were nice and friendly. Cheaper than the one round the corner. I would go again.

We stopped here for dinner one night after reading the glowing reviews of the place. The menu is varied and it was hard to choose. Friendly staff and good service are the only reason there are three stars instead of two.

i have been eating from Rolos Chippy for over 12yrs...……….what can I say but beautiful food,excellect staff,Linda and her staff are wonderful,in all that time I have NEVER had any cause to complain about the food

Go and visit this shop every visit to enniskillan the cod is genuine cod cooked fresh in front of you as are the chip's the staff are all first class .

Great chippy with staff who are all friendly. Nothing is any bother to them. The chippy has a very high level of cleanliness. A favourite chippy for me.

Recently moved to Antrim & have been scouting out for my new no.1 takeaway, rolos was my 4th stop along the way, there was no need for a 5th stop.

Just had the best fish supper and order of chicken goujons ever.Staff in the shop were so helpful and polite,I'll definitely be back in the very near future.

When I walked in to put a food order in I noticed a rat running in under the coke fridge the girls in the shop all ran out screaming who worked their so I was lucky I never got to eat anything since it’s over run with rats .

Been goin this chippy for years and cant believe the crap posted here from the 21st sep. Staff first class cook it way you want it.. mother gets poached fish here all the time and loves it. Ignore recent negative reviews. These have been left maliciously to damage the reputation of this chippy due to an on going issue that has nothing to do with this shop & are not a true reflection on rolos.

I eat here quite often food and staff are first class. As for the recent negative reviews trust me these are most definitely malicious, ignore them and treat your tastebuds.

This has to be worst chip shop I've ever had the misfortune of eating out of,fish was greasy,sausage's definitely weren't fully cooked and the chips were as bad as you can get....

Poor quality fish looked big was big on the batter and small on the actual fish and greasy too. Not Good

Decided to give rolos a go after hearing decent reports that was my first mistake, I ordered a cheeseburger and chips the burger was that undercooked a defibrillator would've brought it back to life the chips weren't very well cooked either , my son wanted chicken nuggets and chips I honestly think they where bought from Iceland as they where full of water , I'll stick to shunters or parkhall chippy in future.

Read the great reviews on Rolos and thought i would try it whilst coming home through Antrim last Tuesday....i now wish i had bypassed it!

Everything freshly cooked. Usually busy but fairly quick service! Friendly and efficient staff. A pleasure to eat from.

I got a cod supper for my son and I tried it as well, it was sublime, easily the best cod and chips I have had in years.

I Eat from here quite often & food always good. Staff are very friendly. The (very large) steak sausages are particularly good.

I knew about this place as the go-to chippy in Antrim, however I hadn't realised it had gluten free options! The staff were very helpful, friendly and informative.

I work with a client group near Rolos. We visit Rolos most fridays and the Staff are always so friendly! They have already made great relationships with the service users and take time to chat with them when we are in. The food is always fresh and hot and the portion sizes are really good.

After a lot of searching for over a year we were told that Rolos had a gluten free menu! Having been told this many times for other chip shops we were very hesitant to try!! Linda and Susan who were working that day were very knowledgable on cross contamination and the impact it could have on someone who needs a gluten free diet, they could not have done enough for us! The battered fish was a real treat for my partner who had craved for something like this for well over a year! The gluten free menu is quite extensive and includes fish and chicken, with enough notice the ladies can also do battered onion rings and battered mushrooms!

I've become a regular at Rolo's because the food is simply brilliant. The cod is fresh daily and the batter is very old school. The battered black pudding is incredible and Linda and the girls are great. Once you've tried it you'll always go back again. Guaranteed.

I am really fussy and there are very few places that do beef sausages but this one has the biggest and best there is.

If you want fish and chips ( fish supper ) in Antrim Rolo's is without doubt the best. They sell more that fish and chips off course. If you are not in the mood for a fish supper they have a comprehensive menu to choose from, all cooked fresh as you order.

Called in for lunch after having rolos recommended to me. Very busy on a Friday with quite a queue so expected a bit of a wait (not a problem). What I didn’t expect however was customers coming in and placing their (larger) order after me and walking out with their food a good 5/10 minutes before me (not telephone orders). When I eventually did get my food after having to approach the counter again I was offered no apology for the wait. I had asked for salt and vinegar on my order but if there was any on it a couldn’t tell. The food was average at best and very greasy. I won’t be back and won’t recommend either.

Don't need to say alot, but the best chippy in the town. I don't eat alot of chippy food but take notion now and again for a fish supper and they are always superb, not greasy, chips cooked lightly golden and the do haggis. Give it ago.

I wanted to treat my wife and daughter to a take away, whilst away. Best choice was to talk into this chippy. Firstly the service was quick and the people where very friendly. Second the fish was cooked fresh, this makes such a difference!!!! The curry sause was amazing and worked well with the whole meal. Amazing value, amazing staff, and amazing food.

I had steak sausage, gravy and chips. That was fantastic. I totally see why people rated this place highly.

Visited this takeaway at the weekend with the family. We fed four for £17. Portions were a good size and all food was cooked freshly to order. The chips were as good as we have had in some time. We have visited Rolos before and it is always busy, which I believe is a good sign of quality. Also noted good hygiene levels, a separate staff member handles the money to those who cook.

Visit here nearly every week from Belfast...food is spot on and the staff are very friendly especially Susan and Linda...well worth a call in when you are in Antrim 😊

Rolos supplied the food recently for my 7yr olds birthday, 15 fussy, hungry kids catered for. Food was fantastic, well packed and presented, staff were absolutely first class and accommodating, real value for money. If you visiting antrim this chippy is a must. You won't be disappointed!!

I was really hungry till I seen how the food was mixed and piled on the griddle then changed my mind and just had chips. Though I must admit they were the best chips I have had in Ireland.

Fish freshly battered and fried while you wait. I couldn't believe the portion and had some fish and chips left over but it was perfectly cooked. Lovely staff.

Had a few days visiting my parents and Dad insisted I got his dinner from Rolos, place was busy when I got there but served really quickly and staff really helpful!! Fish supper was superb, I will definitely be back.

A large group of us ate from here tonight. We had a mixture of battered sausages, regular sausages, crumbled fish, chicken gougons and pie. We all loved what we had, portions were very large and tasty. Thanks a lot😀

After our restaurant closed down in the summer I phoned up to see if the girls could help with the kids lunches as we had stated that we were going to offer hot lunches.

Does exactlly what it says. Great Chippy. Reasonably priced. Decent menu. Ring your order through to avoid a long queue. Will be back again soon.

Yo estaba en rolos realizando algunos trabajos y me impresionó lo limpio y bien organizado, el lugar es así que decidimos comer algo mientras yo estaba allí. No me decepcionó. Tuve una cena de pescado con curry y aros de cebolla. Estaba delicioso. Todo está hecha. El pescado estaba maltratada delante de mí y preparado mientras esperaba. El pescado era de un buen tamaño, el bateador luz y crujiente. Las patatas fritas eran geniales, ninguno de los diminutos seres que hacen que te sientas como si han dado el último patatas fritas en el lugar jajaja salsa curry era sabrosa. Venda adecuada al curry. He visto que hacen streak en el menú. kebabs. No puedo esperar a volver a probar. Las chicas son preciosas, muy amable y se puede decir que la comida que sirven. saludos.

The food is excellent cant complain. Been here quite a few times. As someone who lives in the town they are the best. Friendly staff and of course best looking staff. Just had a fish supper beautiful. Love the haggis also. Think its the only chippy that does haggis. Highly recommend.

It was Saturday night and very busy to it took a while to be served. Not the best fish and chips I've ever had! It was OK. I didn't like the rissoles at all.

Rolos fish and chip shop not only supply the best chippie food in town but always a service with a smile, every time Im there everyone is doing something to keep the shop spotless and at its high standard. I would visit here because of the staffs attitude alone which is often forgot in any business.Excellent jobs guys and keep up the great attitude and food.
