Lovely cosy restaurant. Pleasant service. Delicious food with good vegetarian options.

We had both vegetarian and non vegetarian 5 course tasting menus. Amazing food and excellent service. Who knew cheese and ale soup existed and how incredible it is!

Emailed the Restaurant in advance of the booking to check that the menu that was on the website was up-to-date. Didn’t get a reply and didn’t get chance to check back as I was so busy, unfortunately wasn’t the menu expected when we got there . Food was OK. Some was lovely some not so. Beef shin was stringy. Could not cut the spring onions with cutlery. Cheese was uninspiring … was it from Sainsbury’s? And it was served too cold. Lots of wine out of stock on menu but what we had was excellent. Guy that served us did a good job although he would have been better to use a Folded napkin to catch drips on the wine bottle rather than his finger 😳 Noticed the low star hygiene rating sign on the wall and looked it up and was 2/5 star! This is the third time I’ve been and I’ve never really rated it so won’t be going back

Arrived at the restaurant and we were met by a young man who immediately welcomed us. We were taken to our table and our coats were taken to be hung up, so we could sit down and not worry about where our coats were going to go, great start. We all decided to opt for the tasting menus. I am glad we did as we ate some fantastic food, each course well presented and really flavoursome. I cannot say enough about the food and the way in which we were treated. We enjoyed ourselves and will definitely be going back Thank you for making it a special evening and lovely experience.

Lovely Valentine’s Day lunch. What a little gem, the food was delicious. The entire menu was well thought out and every element complemented each other. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire taster menu, I wouldn’t have changed anything. Service was just right, enough attention but not intrusive. We’ll definitely be returning.

Simply wonderful !! What a fantastic restaurant welcoming and quaint with lovely staff that cannot do enough for you. Choice of menu is amazing with the 7 course taster being ours and all dietary requirements catered for. Comprehensive wine list for all budgets with a wine journey if desired. The food is second to none and outshone 2 star Michelin restaurants in our opinion and we have not tasted better elsewhere. For a fine dining restaurant Roger’s is not the cheapest but definitely the best and therefore superb. Roger’s himself is a true gentleman and very humble and deserves higher recognition from the Michelin judges. Well recommended and we will definitely rebook.

Once again we had an excellent evening and fabulous foodie experience at Roger Hickmans in Norwich. We enjoyed the 7 course tasting menu and every part of this extravaganza of food was exceptional. When I can’t recreate this food at home I appreciate the work that goes into these dishes. Thank you to all the lovely staff and we’ll definitely return.

We had a magical night. We decided to have the 7 course taster menu and it didn't disappoint. The food was delicious, meticulously presented and served with perfect spaces between courses. The venison was a particular highlight. I also really enjoyed the heritage carrot salad - light, bringing out the different flavours of carrot through the different treatments. The service was excellent - friendly, knowledgeable, and ready to assist, a perfect balance of attentive but without being on top of us! The wine list is extensive with plenty of choice, despite several not being available. Definitely still enough to choose from and the waitress's recommendation was perfect. Came here for our 30th wedding anniversary. In a world where chain restaurants are the norm, and quantity is valued more than quality, Hickman's is a reminder of why it's worth supporting great local restaurants.... We had a fantastic lunch, two courses of top quality food for £32, with brilliant, professional and charming service from Kevin. If you're looking for somewhere to go for a special- or any occasion for good food, look no further.

We went for a late celebration of my wife’s birthday. Great meal, interesting food really well created and presented. Wow. Service was impeccable, knowledgeable and interested . Excellent wine selection. Can’t recommend enough.

Had an excellent meal here for a birthday lunch. We both had the 5 course tasting menu, which we felt was good value for a birthday treat. The food was delicious and cooked well. The waiter (possibly Kevin) was very polite and knew the menu well.

Living on its old reputation. Service was poor. Not enough staff - and they were not trained properly, very young and seemingly no understanding of the dining experience. My glass was empty and not topped up, I had to do this myself - this is a basic but essential thing that sets higher level restaurants apart. The heating also didn't appear to be on, meaning I had to keep wrapped up all night next to a heater that was OFF and a draughty window! We paid hundreds of pounds for our meal and drinks, and it wasn't reflective of our experience at all. NEVER AGAIN!

We had the 5 course tasting menu on a chilly Saturday night. Service was attentive and friendly although staff could do with watching the door more closely because - with no greeter to meet us at the entrance - we had to wander to the back of the restaurant, still wearing our bulky outdoor layers and pushing past the already seated diners, in the search for someone to welcome and seat us. The food was good but not flawless. The artichoke and seafood courses were excellent but our main course (partridge? can’t recall) was massively over-cooked: dry, chewy and hard and almost inedible. Very strange. The cheese course and dessert were again lovely but the white chocolate and tonka bean truffles which followed were far too sweet - cloying and sickly. Overall it’s a good local restaurant but they need to tighten up their cookery to ensure standards are consistent throughout the meal, especially at these prices.

Restaurant was cold had to ask for heating to be turned on. Staff inexperienced although pleasant no interaction unless really needed. Food was ok but now wow factor reflected on price. Don’t mind at all paying for good cuisine but the experience was not great. Wanted to try a upmarket restaurant in Norwich as our daughter has just moved there for uni so we will be over a few times. Been told should have tried Benedict’s so let’s see. I really wish you guys can get it together. We asked for the service charge to be taken off as it didn’t justify itself.

My wife and I had the lunch taster menu with the wine flight. Food was absolutely fantastic with superb depth in flavours. The selected wines suited each course. We had the most fantastic time at Rogers Hickman's restaurant, we booked a meal to celebrate Gary's 60th Birthday and we were not disappointed, the food was amazing and our waiter was such a lovely young man, he even brought me a list of the cheeses that would be included on the cheese plate because I enquired. We had the lunch time menu which was second to none, every course was delicious and immaculately presented, they even brought us a special after dinner treat for Gary to celebrate his 60th, it made his day, we will certainly be going again, hopefully for my 60th in November, we live in the midlands but visit Norfolk regularly throughout the year, our favourite part of the country. Went into this place a while ago but never forgot the service, there wasn’t any , we sat there for 45 minutes and never even had a drinks order taken and the place had two other tables they were serving so not at all busy , the chef was standing there picking his nose and scratching his balls instead of preparing food or cooking, we were horrified and left after seeing that , the waitress called over as we opened the door to leave that she was sorry we’d waited so long and I thought, not as sorry as we were that we’d gone in there in the first place !
