Rococo in Ballymena

First time in Rococo Ballymena, and can safely say that it will definitely be the last. Interior was grubby and dated, and was clear to be seen that the floor had not been brushed/ mopped and the carpet not hoovered in a while. The restaurant was dead considering it was a Sunday afternoon. We were part of large group, meaning we were sitting at separate tables but they were still beside each other, the waiters did not adhere to this and therefore took the two tables orders separately, before we noticed. When the other half of our group was eating their starters, we were eating our mains and where them finished by the time everyone else was only starting their main, making it quite awkward. However I can say that some of the waiting staff where very helpful and attentive, making sure we had enough drinks, etc for the table, this is the only reason they deserve a second star! The meal I had was chicken goujons, these where greasy and overall unpleasant, the garlic dip tasted off, and the chips looked like they had been gathered up off the floor, with peas and other sauces throughout them made them inedible. We will not return to this restaurant, and upon looking their Facebook page I seen they have won awards, where the judges blind or had no taste buds? A very disappointing trip to day the least.

Wasn't overly busy on a Monday night, we were in just before 8, great waiter and he was very professional but had a laugh with us. It was sister and my birthday and when dessert came down, there was a candle in each pavlova, nice touch. Everyones meal was was good, I will go back

Enjoyable experience. Standard food choices but well cooked and presented. Staff exceptionally helpful.

We had lunch here, friendly waitress. Extensive menu. I had pasta carbonara and garlic bread. Huge portion, lots of tender chicken too much pasta penne and not enough sauce but tasty. My son had chicken fillet on champ with white wine sauce, he said it was OK. Lovely looking desserts on display. But we had such large lunch portions, we were good. Nice place, we will return to try more off the menu. Reasonably priced.

Recently visited rococo for my friends birthday and it was pleasant. The food was nice and they have a good selection of alcoholic drinks. The staff are also lovely. The one down side to it is that it was very very quiet for the evening time which slightly ruined the mood. It was a little awkward in the restaurant as at times the music turned off occasionally and all you could hear was people eating.

Loved the food & service. Amazing gluten free options. Just need a separate fryer fir gluten free chips etc. Will definitely be back.

Dinner was horrible, meat was nice, mash was watery, vegetables were hard, roast potatoes, seemed to be reheated from day before, had food here before n it was ok, im sure the waiter kne as i only ate the roast beef n rest was left, she ask is everything oki Didn't answer as Didn't want to embarres my partner, horrible meal not be back, and £30 a head, i wish id of complained

Had the mixed platter, was chewy and had to waste the meat, the beef steak, the chicken and the pork, all awful.

Went shopping in Ballymena and decided to go for something to eat. Popped into this wee place as it was close by and had plenty of parking near hand. First impressions were good and greeted by a lovely member of staff. Seated at a table close to door which wasn't an issue. The issue was the dust and cobweb hanging from picture right above our table along with a lot of dirty marks on the wall. Definitely hasn't seen a duster in a while. There was a 30-40 min wait on food which again wasn't a problem. When food arrived, my chicken was burnt slightly as was the bacon. One item from my chicken maryland was missing (sausage) but I never complained. Besides that the food was very nice. Would I go again......probably not!!!

If you're looking for a good feed, reasonable quality at a reasonable price this is the place. Always delivers my expectations.

1st time in this restaurant today. Food was amazing, delicious, tasty and tender. The deserts were equally delicious. Excellent portion sizes and very good value for money. The staff were lovely, warm, attentive and friendly. First class! 👍😊❤️

Very Oily food. Chicken fillets and garlic bread. Bland flavour of prawns. However good atmosphere and ok staff.

Called in tonight for food, the young guy that served us was a total gentleman, so attentive and we'll mannered , he is a real asset to your restaurant. Food was exceptional we will definitely be back 😋.

The floor was very sticky around the bar areas, but the food was delicious. No cold cokes, limited beer selection, but the food is delicious. Did i mention the food?

Tonight at 5pm on 27/12/22 I rang to book a table, on arrival we were kept waiting atleast 10 minutes until we then walked over to the bar staff who then proceeded to get us a table .. the lounge area was appalling due to a cluster of 15 empty glasses sitting on a shelf within the lounge area… we placed a drinks order which was forgotten as another waitress came and asked us again for a drinks order.. we then proceeded to wait a further 10-15 minutes of which we then were sorely disappointed and left.

I had delicious sizzling chilli chicken however there was not enough chicken in the dish at all. More chicken would have made it perfect. Home made bannoffee and fresh cream, generous portion and delicious

The reviews give this place much more credit than it deserves. Both waitresses that served us were really rude and not very accommodating, seem to forget they work in hospitality and were clearly dragged up. Manners cost nothing. Food wasn’t that good. Best thing about it was the way out.

My experience with Rococo wasn't fantastic but wasn't bad either. I'd say the downside was trying to seat a 16 person booking across 3 tables suited for 4 people each... I went for a football do and was treated to a 3 course meal. The salmon starter was to die for! Superb stuff. Main of a traditional Christmas dinner was okay. Nothing special but not bad either. Dessert was again traditional, Christmas Cake and again was okay. Fresh fruit and sauce compliment was awesome. Service, top tier 5 big gold ones! Every waiter, waitress, front of house and the bar staff were lovely, helpful and informative. Really went above and beyond for us. All in all would give it another shot but food was nothing exceptional. Gonna bump it up a star from 3-4 purely because folk are working so so hard over the festive period.

Had a gorgeous meal with the family. Lovely atmosphere and the staff couldn't be nicer. Had a great time and will def be back soon!

I've been to this place twice had no issues apart from todays experience was disappointing I was served by unfriendly female was cheeky and rude towards me came over and slammed my drink on my table then walk off,, I ordered the lasnage with salt chill chip both were disgusting the lasnage was served in wooden bowl potion size wasnt much either the lasagne was stuck to sides,, the chips was coated in chilli powder with onions and sliced peppers there differnly wasnt much throught and effort put into this much better places in Ballymena

Amazing food, and catered for my 1year old as he's tongue tie so he's not able to feed proper.

We were just passing through Ballymena after going up Slemish and chose this restaurant randomly. The place is big and the staff were very friendly. We got a Sunday menu for £25 (3 courses) and the meat platter. Everything was very tasty and we left feeling satisfied! Highly recommended

Me and my partner came in for Dinner and were blown away by the fantastic quality and service. I Had the roast beef Sunday roast and he had the ribs. Both portions were fair, very well presented and tasted amazing! For desert i had the heated chocolate fudge cake with ice cream and he had the cheesecake with ice cream. Both were perfectly sized taste phenomenal and look professional. Drinks: We each had a kopparberg. With our drinks includes the meal was also fairly cheap! For us both totalling £59.95. I fully recommend Rococo!

This venue was great. We rocked up without a booking. Was met with a smile 😃 and "No problem" was seated and order taken. The food was 5***** Staff were polite friendly and nothing was to much trouble. When we come back to NI We will definitely come again. Thanks again. Keep up the good work.

My wife and I have been here before and the food has been very good on each occasion and the staff are very good. On this occasion we took my mother in law and son with his girlfriend and had no problems tweeking some parts of the menu for m.i.l. overall an excellent night and will be back again.

Although it took a wile to get our meal it was understandable as the place was packed and the waitresses were just rushing about getting people sorted with drinks,meals, they were really great girls couldn't fault a thing in rococo, the meal etc was absolutely fantastic 👌 I'm not a big eater but I did put a big hole in my meal which I really enjoyed, I wud have no bother recommending this place to anyone 10 out of 10 from me 👌👍👌

Bit of a mix up at start of evenin even though I had phoned up half an hr previous to confirm numbers they hadn't a table ready so had to join 2 tables together. Tight fit but the food was delicious and staff were really nice. Would come back but as we had travelled quite a long way for this occasion it would have been nice if we didn't have to wait for a table, especially as we had booked a week in advance and phoned ahead to confirm. Lovely place, great atmosphere, amazing food and staff friendly and helpful. All forgiven.

Great steak ! Well cooked nice and soft

Unfortunately I don't have photos, but I am very fascinated by the restaurant. Both from the staff and from the food. The stack was a little rougher than expected. The fish (smoked cod) was very tasty, with an amazing sauce, the vegetables - a bit overcooked. Excluding these small remarks, really tasty and fresh.

St Patrick's day so very busy. Took a while to get seated even though we had booked...and even longer to get served. But staff lovely and food 1st class... So all good.

Small group of us had an evening meal here. It is fairly central and parking nearby is usually possible. Good choices on menu, served by friendly staff.

Staff very ignorant like they don't want you here . When food arrived it was almost three at you. Also food was not as advertised. Sub standard . Won't be back. Atrocious

Service was extremely appalling. The waitress did not serve our table. We were the first people to arrive, but the waitress took orders from the people who arrived after us and avoided taking an order from our table. The table was also sticky and not fit for eating at. We go up to leave after sitting at the table for some time, and even though the waitress was present when we were leaving, she did not approach us to ask why we were leaving or whether everything was okay. If you value service don't eat at Rococo.

In for breakfast this morning . Staff so busy talking to other that they forgot to bring our tea. I had to ask for it . Then they lied by saying so busy their were only another couple in as well.as us . We had our breakfast finished by the time we finally got our tea. The milk jug was disgusting. The milk inside the rim of jug was hardened and yellow not good enough . The food waa good pity about the service and the cleanliness. Definitely wont be back ..

Beef steak made in deep oil, unfit to eat, was to be Medium , was raw inside burned outside. All food is fatty and heavy, All one taste😶 I do not recommend

Was staying in ballymena last week, and popped in for something to eat, was not disappointed the food was lovely and big portions, the two staff members Charmaine and Ashley were fantastic would definitely recommend a visit if you are in Ballymena, well done girls

Just had a beautiful sunday dinner, the beef was cooked to perfection just melt in the mouth, portions are very good

Staff were very accommodating and friendly... That will stay the same as my last review! Food this time was well beyond par. I ordered the pork loin with pepper sauce, was served 2 x pork chops smothered in sauce that I was expecting in a sauce dish (not everyone likes ALL the sauce). Wasn't told of the change to my dish (loin to chops) otherwise I would've reordered. Not worth the price charged, could've had a better meal from Iceland at 3rd the cost!!

We went out an evening, staff was friendly and efficient. But the food wasn't great. Steak was tough like shoe leather,and the mushrooms was greasy and the tobacco onions wasn't crispy also soggy and swimming in fat. And the food could be alot warmer,my food was 53c when I probed it, should be 75c and above. I think they've changed their chefs. Food used to be good.
