Outstanding local cuisine and service. Superb. Probably need to book it. Well worth the money. Just past the East Cliff lift on the left. Bus 100 nearby 5 mins walk.

Service is very bad, hostess/waitress was very rude. The kitchen also smells disgusting, don’t think they change cooking oil very often!

This was our second visit, the food is of excellent quality and the lady serving was very good, We had the cod and chips and I must say it was fantastic, The only issue I had was it was very loud in there due to the venue being quite small and how busy it was but will defiantly be returning.

Adore this place, the best food in the old town! Always a clean plate with everyone I’ve taken (even the fussy ones 😂)

Ate here yesterday with a friend, and we were both amazed at the quality of the food and service. We both ordered the Panaché of steamed fish in a saffron sauce...so delicious, really good portions, beautifully and quickly served on a hot plate. The waiter was friendly and efficient. I can't recommend you highly enough...a rare treat! Thank you so much.

We enjoyed a delightful Sunday lunch in mid-December. Indulged in delicious, hassle-free cuisine—each dish and side dish nicely cooked and bursting with flavour. The unassuming fish and chips presented with a plump, flaky fillet of fish that had been swimming in the sea just a few hours earlier.The friendly service added to the overall positive experience. What a gem! We look forward to returning for more culinary delights.

Much more than a fish & chip shop (as described on Google), this small and cosy restaurant is a little gem in Hastings. Simply and lovingly cooked delicious fresh fish and seafood dishes, wonderful service and an ambient atmosphere. I will definitely be back for more.

Outstanding little private restaurant. Service was impeccable and the chalkboard menu did not disappoint (I've every faith it changes with the days catch!). We had scallops and potted crab to start, rack of lamb and hake for mains and panna cotta and chocolate torte for dessert. Everything was delicious. Cannot recommend this place enough, but BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL. It's a very small place (25 covers as far as I could tell) so I can imagine walk ins get lucky very often. The bill was not cheap, but we were happy to pay for the quality we received. We'll be back for sure.

Absolutely first class In all area's. My wife and I love to seek out interesting and exciting place's to eat. We love seafood especially when the chef is as talented and passionate as we experienced this afternoon. Large, perfection, scallops beautifully presented and pan fried with care. Main course; seared salmon fillet with seasonal vegetables with a creamy hollandaise sauce. Perfection 🥰 We felt full, but then our waitress offered us a selection of delicious desserts..ok one to share. A lovely light Eaton mess to finish us off. We will be back! So worth the trip. (Will need to book in advance for evening meal).

Amazing very fresh food. We had the cod and chips, the fish was delicious, the breading and the quality of oil was perfect, very yummy chips and tartar sauce, highly recommend this place if you want to taste quality fresh fish.

Still one of my favourite restaurants.

The older chef was handling a raw duck meat and without washing his hands he started to put chips onto the plate and our take away tray. When questioned he replied “I’ve been doing this for only 40 years”. When I asked for fresh portion as he was handling them with the same hands he asked another person to give me money back. It’s a shame as seafood there looked fresh but his understanding of health and safety needs refreshing. The other chef was very apologetic though.

First time here a couple of weeks ago. We were disappointed. Smell of frying oil throughout. The potted crab wasn't nice, very bland and wet. Frozen? Service was good though and they accommodated my slight change to a main course that I ordered.

Great quality seafood, big portions and very reasonable price for the area. Fish cooked v well and chips seemed home made and not too greasy. Small restaurant but very clean and cosy inside. Friendly service.

We had a fantastic fish lunch, which was great value for money and one of the best meals we’ve had in a long time. Just pop in while on a visit to Hastings for a birthday afternoon tea and luckily got a table for two. All the food was freshly cooked and absolutely delicious.

Incredible food in a very intimate setting. It's like being in your own private dining room with just a small handful of other tables. Excellent service and delicious caught-that-morning food. Highly recommended!

Really brilliant little place right by the East Lift. We had 3 taster dishes and the fish and chips which were all great. Lovely ambience and only about 6/7 tables. We did feel a bit rushed towards the end our lunch, aside from that, all good.

Wow!! This place isn’t big but oh my goodness! Great ambience, friendly and helpful staff. Good selection of dishes on the menu - most of which are based on locally caught fish. I had the mackerel with tomatoes and cannolini beans - it was so tasty. I ended up having the panacotta for desert - absolutely perfect. A great place to eat - will go again.

What a lovely hidden spot with freshly cooked meals that melt in your mouth. Portion sizes will not disappoint even the hungriest lot. Cozy little place with an excellent service. Calamari and fish and chips were excellent. Must visit place if you are in Hastings!

We ended up in this little cute restaurant at the end of the Hasting sea side promenade by chance. The dining area is very cosy and elegant in its minimal style. The service was exceptional and the food delicious. Being Italian I am quite demanding when coming to food, and here I found everything to be very tasty, of good quality, very well cooked and presented. The wine as well was excellent. Highly recommended.

Visited June 17, 2022. It is difficult to judge whether Fish & Chips is usually an unpretentious dish, or whether it is prepared here. You can eat, but nothing special. The waitress says the fish is fresh, but it probably comes from the fridge. Although freshly caught fresh fish is traded in Hastings in the morning. unfortunately I could not find a place to cook a real catch in the morning. Potato chips will be Ok, looks fresh and not freezed and whats like is size-so big :).

Been here a few times pre-pandemic and the food was always good. However, last visit was disappointing. The calamari as a main were rubbery (as a starter they look much better); the roasted fish I ordered was swimming in butter/fat and the scallops were cold. Hope it was a bad day.

I went to this place last weekend. I ordered calamari & chips and fish & chips to take away and (after 45 minutes waiting to collect my order!) all I got was CHIPS and just 4 rubbery calamari. The portion of the fish was also ridiculous and very far away from the quality of other places in the area. I can't recommend this place and I will never go back.

Fresh and well cooked seafood. We had the mixed grill, which was very good value for money. It's one of the best seafood restaurants we've tried in the UK. The atmosphere is romantic and relaxing with perfect lighting.

Restaurant right opposite the the old seaman’s net shops . The most delicious lamb and fabulous gravy . Really enjoyed the evening. Will certainly be back.

For those visiting the seaside the dream is to eat fish that has gone straight from sea and net to plate or platter in a matter of moments. Better still the venue has to be a humble shack near the briny. This is exactly what you get at the Rock a Nore. For fish aficionados (say that after a bottle of fine wine) this is a must try.

Our second visit to this restaurant and we weren't disappointed. The food is absolutely delicious and the service efficient and friendly without being intrusive. If I had to find something less than positive it was a bit chilly especially if you sit next to the rear exposed wall. We will definitely return.

A really lucky find! Was struggling to find somewhere in Hastings that had for free table at lunchtime. Found out this great place and both of us had cod and chips which was delicious! Reasonable price and not a run of the mill seaside cafe...a restaurant. Will return for sure

Had a lovely meal in a picturesque setting amongst the dark huts in East Hastings. The lemon sole was a particular highlight as well as the perfectly cooked scallops and bold prawn cocktail. Just some classic fish cookery on display although the seabass I had was a touch over. I deduct a star as the extraction in the restaurant is very poor. The whole restaurant smelt like smoking oil and my hair and clothes reeked after getting home. Quite odd for such a fine looking establishment.

How lucky we were.Great food with lots of choice , nice atmosphere and great service. Prices very reasonable too. We are quite picky but we thought this was very very good.

My Whitebait had that taste of the sea that you know means they were caught locally and recently. My wife's skate wing was delicate and sublime. If ever you go to Hastings and want something a little special, this is the place to visit.

Fabulous meal and in my opinion, the best restaurant in the Old Town. I had roast cod in parsley sauce which was absolutely perfect. The special was lemon sole caught on the day which my friend had. All cooked perfectly.

Well I will keep this one short and to the point. Myself my wife and her mum called in one lunchtime for some light bites as we were booked in elswhere that evening for a meal. I had the whitebait taster and my wife and her mother had the potted crab taster. We recieved a warm and friendly welcome and prompt service. The food was of very good quality as well as the presentaion being very pleasing to the eye, you just know you are getting quality food at an affordable price. My only regret was not booking this place for our evening meal, but if there is a next time we find ourselves in Hastings then it will be a no brainer, keep doing what you do and do not change a thing, thank you.

Gorgeous little place. Our calamari was lovely, crisp outside and nice soft squid inside. I had the lemon sole which was a very good size and absolutely perfectly cooked. I didn’t like samphire before but do now! My friend had the place which was also super. The hand cut chips are generous, crispy outer and fluffy inner. We were tempted by the chocolate torte for dessert and very glad too as it was great, chocolatey not too sweet and a perfect finish with some lovely quality coffee. Highly recommended - book ahead!

A real find, next to the iconic Hastings smokehouses. Small, unpretentious and very friendly. Excellent fresh fish, served quickly. The white rioja seemed expensive at £29 but proved to be tasty and splendid value for money. Worth waiting for a free table if full.

If I could I would give more than 5 stars. This place is so good! The waitress was so lovely and the food was amazing. Very quirky place and real value for your bucks. We will be back!

I visit Hastings once a year for the last handful or so years, and we always seek and visit the best possible places to eat. Rock a Nore Kitchen is by far the best for seafood and we actually choose to visit it even twice in a weekend rather than have mediocre food elsewhere. It is a small place but the menu is large enough and the front of house person is always personable but a pro (she used to manage the Webbe's place down the road). Yes, the fish, the scallops etc are the best and I struggle to think of a London restaurant that I would put above it in terms of simplicity and quality.

Had a fabulous meal here with 2 friends. Can definately recommend. Had potted crab which we shared then one had fillets of sea bream and the other two shared the fish platter ...all yummy. Rounded off with home made cheesecake. All really good.

We ordered a fish and chips but I don't particularly like parboil and fried chips. The fish was very fresh but unfortunately the fish batter was too greasy for me. Service was good.

Superb, high quality and very cosy. Incredible for sea food

Last visit here was a couple of years ago. Today we were first in at 7pm....the small restaurant was full by 7.45pm. We had some soda bread and butter as a starter which was good and for our main we both had the roasted cod with roast pots, carrots and asparagus. Red wine choice was Soraie Veneto which was lush...a tad expensive at £24 (twice the price if bought in a shop) but lush. The fish was as white as I've ever seen a piece of cod, cooked to perfection on a bed of spinach with hints of fresh coriander. The roast pots were soft in the middle and light and crispy on the outside, my carrots were large and were under cooked but not inedible. Dish was rounded off with a lovely buttery parsley sauce. All in £60 for two.

The best place in the county for a relaxed, well cooked, traditional English seafood meal. All dishes are amazing, the staff are super friendly. Excellent house rose wine, the whitebait are a family fave.

We had lunch here and the food was excellent. The fish was beautifully cooked. We had the whole bream special cooked in samphire butter and the lemon sole. Both were really good.

Went as a couple on recommendation and were not disappointed. Far from it, very very pleased! Excellent menu choice, good wine list, wonderful service from restaurant manager Diana. We never felt hurried, though the restaurant was busy. Our food was beautifully presented and cooked. A great kitchen.

The best seafood meal I’ve had in a long time. Fresh from the boat, I had plump scallops that were perfectly cooked and skate wing with samphire and cockles. The samphire and cockles elevated the skate to next level and was delicious with hand cut chips. The service was friendly and thoughtful. A definite must visit for anyone searching for next level seafood.
