Food really nice, you get what you pay for, staff extremely friendly and great atmosphere throughout. Nice relaxing place to go to get out of the huddle of the town.

I had a ploughman’s platter and my wife the Wensleydale sandwich, with drinks. Both were well presented and substantial. The service was first class . Robbie Johnsons is the best cafe in the area and the staff are always friendly and helpful.

Perfect breakfast. Extremely friendly staff. Always happy to help and have a laugh with. Welcoming. Food was hot, bacon cooked to perfection. I have had salads and omelettes before and they are beautiful. The home made quiches too. I love this place.

Coffee, hot chocolate and cake here, staff were excellent really pleasant, chatty and cheerful I do like an independent cafe/coffee shop, cannot see or understand why people are obssessed with "chain" coffee shops, places like Robbies are much better.Drinks and cakes were very good.Oh yeah, and the loos were spotless

I love RJs, it’s a must every time we visit Hull. The food is so fresh, tasty and so much choice ! It’s always beautifully presented and tastes as good as it looks.The staff are so friendly and accommodating nothing is ever too much trouble.Make sure you leave room for cake, you won’t be able to decide and they are so yummy!

My friends and I had a wonderful lunch,RJ's as everybody calls it gives great value for money, it is a great meeting place for people as it's very friendly lovely staffI had mushroom and cheese Omelette, salad and jacket potato so tasty and filling did not have room for the delicious desserts that where on show.

This was a really enjoyable experience, staff were so accommodating on arrival getting a ramp out for the wheelchair. The food quality was super fresh and not over priced. Would highly recommend and will return x

A great place to meet, chat and sample good food at very reasonable prices. It’s not a 5 star restaurant but it’s food is well presented and fresh. The staff are very attentive and serve with a smile. The place is always full of returning customers, and well worth a visit.

AMAZING food and top notch service - been coming here with my mum for years now! Always greeted with a friendly smile! We make special trips into hull to got for a bite to eat. My parents always visit RJ when they are in town, I was treated to a lunch today. I had the Jacket potato with tuna mayo & cheese. It was gorgeous, served with homemade coleslaw, a salad and fruit. The drinks arrived very quick indeed & there wasn't a long wait for food, even though the cafe was full. The shorter blonde haired lady that served us was lots of fun and helpful. The two owners are always friendly & chatty, they make you feel welcome. The price was exceptional for the amount & quality of the food, would highly recommend!

On the few occasions I travel into Hull this restaurant is the first one I would choose to have morning coffee or lunch. It never disappoints, the menu is just the right size not to many choices and yet not to small. The quality is consistent. The staff are the best in the city, friendly and efficient. If I had to make one complaint it would be that French Vanilla Coffee was taken off the menu. Long may they remain open.

My friend and I went to robbie for a change and fully enjoyed it the service was excellent and our food came quickly with food we had was hot and very nice

I have visited many times over the years and have thoroughly enjoyed the many lovely things on offer for lunch.I have always wanted to try the cream scone but have never had room for one.However I popped in on Thursday for a cuppa and thought here is my chance.However I was so disappointed with the cream scone.It certainly looked the part.Huge scone filled with loads of cream but it was so dry I didn't eat it all.To be fair to the waitress who asked me if it was ok I was not honest just disappointed.Sorry RJs.the food is really good just not this time.

Visited for the first time this week, with my Mum, Grandma and my two year old daughter... I must say it was absolutely lovely! Best omelette I’ve ever had (the veggie one), we all really enjoyed our food and will definitely be returning! The service was quick and efficient and the place was extremely tidy too, Thank you x

I was in Hull with my mum and we wanted to grab a quick bite to eat. We were walking through town and came upon RJ's so decided to pop in. Mum ordered a sausage sandwich - which was served on an open oval bread roll with 3 sausages cut in half. I ordered the pate and toast which was served with salad & coleslaw. (We were offered a choice of white or brown roll and toast.) We shared both meals between us. The meals were perfectly served, delicious and quite filling. The coleslaw was particularly nice! The service was great and the place was spotless. There were other small touches, such as a hook to hang your bag on while washing your hands in the cloakroom.

I can honestly say that Robbie Johnson’s is my favourite, if not the best, place to eat in Hull. I am fairly local to hull and whenever I go into town I won’t go anywhere but here! I always have a prawn jacket potato. I’ve ordered this elsewhere but nowhere does it as good as here. They’re coleslaw aswell is amazing, to the point I buy a tub to take home with me. I’d highly recommend going to Robbies, the staff are brilliant and friendly, and they really look after you aswell.

I visited today with a freind and had a mushroom, sun-dried tomato, garlic and cheese sandwich on red onion tasca bread. It was on the special menu. I was bloody ace was tempted to order another but that's just glutton. Service was great. Cracking wee place totally recommend to anyone in hull city centr

We went here just by accident but really pleased we did.

Both me and my husband always come to this lovely cafe every time we visit family in Hull we always enjoy it and this visit was no exception the decor calm and relaxing tables well laid out menu always a great choice and home made always full of flavour and cooked to perfection I should know I’m a chef myself, service excellent and nothing is to much bother, staff always friendly, allergies not a problem, price is reasonable we went with our boys although they don’t have a children’s menu which is no bother as they do small portion choices and light food I find some establishments with children’s menus can be patronising and not a great choice so the fact of no children’s menu is no bother to me and they where great with our boys overall love this place well worth a visit when in Hull

We wanted an alternative to eating snacky food in the coffee shops in Hull city centre, so ended up here.

Visited with my Partner on Saturday 15/06 for breakfast. We was the 1st customers in. What can I say this place is immaculate & we had a very friendly greeting.

Thanks to a great review in the local paper, I thought I would try for myself and wasn’t disappointed. Lots of choices of fresh home made food and a rather tempting display of their home made cakes. Great prices and friendly staff, would highly recommend

We were five adults visiting the the theatre for a matinee performance and went to Robbie Johnson’s for lunch. We all chose different meals and we all enjoyed our meal. It was presented beautifully, the staff were very friendly.the only downside to was we were not able to book beforehand and as it is very near the theatre we had to queue for a table.

I visit here quite often with my mother, mostly for lunch but we have also had the afternoon tea as well.

Always top of our list to visit when we are in Hull City Centre doing our shopping. If you like a great cup of tea, good lunch food and deserts with a smile then look no further. Mark and Phil are always welcoming and good with the banter!

Robbie Johnsons is an excellent place to eat after shopping in Hull City Centre. We had cheese toasty and soup and sandwiches. Both meals were great and very tasty, the staff are welcoming and friendly.

We waited half an hour for a table which they clearly only have one family table. Staff continually allowed other customers to a table while we stood waiting and waiting and waiting. Walk with your feet. So we died. If you cant accommodate us then tell us instead of wasting our time.

This is a favourite cafe for myself, my mother & my sister. We have been coming to Robbie J’s since I was a child (I’m now 30). We love the food, atmosphere, price, staff and just everything about it. We had Mother’s Day afternoon tea there last year and it was perfect. Can’t wait to book in for this mother’s day x

Always our go to place for lunch when in town. The food is fresh and ample proportions. Service excellent and you are made to feel like a friend by the guy who owns it. Spot on.

I can appreciate that they were busy over lunch but the waitress was shockingly rude (pulling faces at us when she thought we couldn't see) and our group ended up sat separately and feeling very uncomfortable. Won't be visiting again and definitely won't be recommending

Called in Robbie Johnson's on the off chance one early pm. I had been shopping and it was a welcome sit down. The staff were friendly and welcoming. I ordered the ploughman's lunch, and because I was getting a lift home I had a gin and orange flavoured tonic which I was curious about.. The ploughman's was really good, far too much for me to eat, delicious ! As was the gin and tonic ( just the one ) .

Stopped off here a couple of times meals were massive, staff were very helpful and no one was rushed from the tables we stayed a few hours eating and talking.

On a wet December Christmas shopping day this was a highlight. Friendly staff, clean premises and good variety of food to choose from. 3 out of the 4 of us chose Christmas specials. It was noticeable that none of our party left any food on our plates! Although we didn’t have a sweet they also looked delicious and the portion sizes looked good. Coffee was great as well. Next time we go to Hull we know where we will be eating!

I had a good time inside robbie johnson. I'm glad i came. i really enjoyed the experience and i would recommend it to you. Most of what i had fit in my mouth but due to the portions it was squeeze to fit everything in.

First time visit for me and I will certainly be returning. Good menu choice of hot and cold foods and salads. Cake fridge to die for too. Sandwiches offered on choice of breads and served with salad and the best coleslaw I’ve ever tasted. Staff very friendly but not at all rushed or pushy. We did queue a little while for a table but after eating there I understand why. Beautiful cakes and fresh ground coffee. Lovely little Gem of a place.

Quick service , but given time to choose what you want as the staff aren't " pushy " Tables are cleaned as soon as they become empty and there is space between them, so you are not squeezing in and out of them. Food is freshly prepared and so even the omelettes are nice and hot. Portion sizes are good as well in our opinion. Friendly and welcoming. I wonder why all cafes and restaurants can't be like this. This place could teach many of them how dedication works. Park and ride stops there as well.

The sight that the place was busy speaks volumes, great food, decent prices & very attentive staff, if you haven;t been it is pleasantly good. We will go again!

One of our regular places to eat when in Town. Food is always freshly prepared & the service friendly & professional. It is always clean & doesn’t smell like a greasy caff. This is a very nice classy place to eat.

Brilliant cafe to visit for a bit of class. My wife and her mum visit often and rave about it so when I was in town, I took my daughter. Now she has been several times and said it's so popular, you will habe to wit for a table at lunchtime. We were there at 3pm so quite a few tables available. They have a very nice menu with toasties, panninis, jackets and salads etc. All around the £6 mark. It's all freshly made to order and very fine indeed. I had a chicken, bacon and cheese baggett which came with salad and my daughter had a tuna and cheese one. Someone had a jacket and it was huge with masdive toppings.

Went with my son I had an omelette came with salad and coleslaw. My son had a toastie and they were.both cooked to perfection. We both enjoyed our visit and will be going again

Honest review is that the menu is basic, questionable how much is homemade, my family enjoy’s this place to eat, the simplicity of sandwiches and jacket potatoes goes along way, hot quiet and fast dining this is ideal.

Saw RJs on Tripadvisor and as we were walking past we decided to give it a try. We are so glad that we did. Friendly and pleasant staff. Clean, light and airy building with decent loos. The salad was top notch - fresh ingredients and a few interesting touches in there - slices of apple, kiwi and orange. Plenty of tasty ham. Served with quite a large roll and butter, too. I added an optional jacket potato which i split with Mrs DVEtheK but whilst it was lovely, the salad was filling enough without it.

Very fast service even though there was a que for seating. Food again to a high standard and customer service second to none. Very good value for money! Try it!

The food here is great with a menu devised by a gifted lover of food. The service is second to none, if you havn't been you must give it a try, you will agree,its superb.

Always know you are getting super service and a great meal. We love the toasted sandwiches, they come with a side salad and delicious home made coleslaw. My daughter would recommend the toasted tea cake and hot chocolate with ice cream, strange combo but apparently very popular as is this eastery,there are often queues outside the door at lunchtime.

robbie johnsons has good service and lovely food. my grandson (6) loves to pop in here for a teacake and drink when we are in the town centre. good value and nice interior

We have been eaten at Mark & Phil's cafe for over 5 years. The food and customer service is always excellent. Very generous portion sizes and the children love the milk shakes. Try it, you'll love it.

I go every week with my sister and niece, the service is excellent and food is too , the owners Phil and Mark are very friendly and lovely , the staff are very friendly too, its clean and welcoming, it’s just an overall great place to eat and drink and I would highly recommend it to everyone .

Popped in for early lunch. Partner had a bacon sandwich and I had a club sandwich. Food was all nice but I don't think the value for money was great. £15 plus just seemed a bit much for a couple of basic sandwiches. Better value elsewhere for sure and unfortunately on that basis we won't return.

Family of five had lunch here on a Monday, Had to wait for a table but they do try to accommodate you as quickly as possible, Food is very good, portion sizes also. Service is excellent. It is also good value. Went back on Thursday for lunch. Same standards. The children said it had very good Wi-Fi, apparently that is a must while you are eating.. I can see why it's busy.

Robbie Johnsons offers all the basic favourites with good seasonal local options at very reasonable prices. I had the dressed crab salad for just 10€! This cafe is also licensed if you want to enjoy a glass of wine with your meal!

Traditional cafe serving freshly cooked breakfasts. Simple and tasty. Toast the highlight...came hot and freshly buttered - delicious! Scrambled eggs were cooked thoroughly and were a little hard, but still tasty. Glasses of juice very generous. Fast and friendly service.

This is a fresh take on a traditional cafe -- good food, quality, value, no frills. Simply good food and pleasant staff. We met one of the owners who made us feel welcome and spoke with passion on Hull. We were in Hull only a few days - we made repeat visits for breakfast. It's that good.

We have visited for years and I have reviewed it before, but I wanted to remind people how good it is. We visited yesterday, as usual greeted with friendly efficient staff, served promptly, order arrived very quickly. The food is excellent, freshly made, piping hot and tables cleared immediately, no dirty pots and food left languishing on vacated tables, good menu and superb value. You really can't fault it, we eat all over in many cafes in different towns and cities and I have to say Robbie Johnson's is still at the top. A tip for other cafe owners, visit Robbie Johnson's and see how a cafe should be run. Thanks to you all. So don't bother looking elsewhere if you are visiting Hull, just head here.

Came here on the 1st March before work and ordered the full English breakfast. You get 4 sausages, 2 pieces of bacon, scrambled egg, mushrooms, beans and 2 slices of toast cut in half with butter on. I had a cappuccino as well and I left feeling nice and full. Would definitely eat here again the cakes looked really yummy as well but it was the morning and I was full. Maybe I will return for just a cake and coffee next time :)

My daughter loves this lovely restuarant which serves food such as a array of cakes, sandwiches and jacket potatoes. Waitress service enabled us to sit down and relax.

My wife and I popped in for a snack after shopping. Polite courteous staff, clean restaurant and tables. Sparkling clean crockery and cutlery. The mushroom and sausage sandwich was superb - moist mushrooms with tasty skinless sausages. I pushed the boat out afterwards and ordered...

The afternoon tea for two is excellent you get a choice of sandwiches,scones with jam and clotted cream and a choice of cake.If you can’t eat it all you can bring your cake home,you also have a choice of tea or coffee.The staff are friendly...

Excellent Columbian coffee, served with frothy hot milk. The carrot cake was a surprise - lashings of whipped cream in it which I normally hate but somehow it worked and the cake was full of juicy raisins and large walnut chunks. The staff were pleasant and the clientele down to earth locals. Supports local small business which is doing the right thing by it's customers and give the global chains a miss if you want value for money and service with a smile. Thanks - I feel revived and ready to continue the Xmas shopping!

Don't go to Hull very often but, if we do, we look to come here for lunch. It is always a good sign when there are queues outside but it is an excellent place to eat. My widfe had a very nice soup & I had a christman baguette-chicken, bacin, brie & cranberry sauce-great. Well worth a visit, just not when I'm going!

Came to Hull to go to the theatre, needed a quick warm snack.

Called again for lunch last Saturday, the place was extremely busy but was not waiting to long for a table, they seem to have a good system in place here, as soon as a customer leaves a table an assistant is over to thoroughly clean and prepare for the next customers, this is carried out with precision unless a customer try's to take charge by trying to move in before the table can be cleaned.

Not quite sure that I understand the high reviews. This place is ok for a cuppa and a sandwich. It's a bit old fashioned and dark. Basic menu. Lots of older people in there, so must be doing something right. Just not for us.

well another day of the wife dragging me round the shops . early start , missing jermery Kyle , like hell .i said there is a few spaces would you like a breakfast .for our first time in robbies even though we have walked past this place over and over again .small breakfast or large , large i opted for . think it was around 6 quid .

Never disappointed when visiting Robbie Johnsons, it has a home from home feel. Lovely homemade sandwiches and lunch options. Always leave to full to have a helping of 1 of their amazing homemade cakes, therefore I often take one home as a take away.

Extremely welcoming despite being very busy. We had to wait about 5 minutes for a table but it was worth the wait and we were acknowledged as soon as we entered. Looking for a snack whilst exploring the City of Culture. We had Jacket potato with beans and a superbly fresh salad garnish and creamy coleslaw and a cheese ham and onion toastie with the same garnish and coleslaw Absolutely delicious. The staff were incredible extremely friendly and professional despite being inundated with customers. Visited for lunch with an elderly Aunt.The staff were very welcoming and provided excellent service. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunches of jacket potato and omelette. The food was piping hot, freshly prepared in particular the salad.The only reason I have not recorded an 'excellent' rating is that there is no downstairs toilet but I do understand the building is not necessarily suitable for this convenience.

Had lovely sandwiches and a cuppa over a very busy lunchtime. Although busy service was excellent and we didn't feel at all rushed. Will definitely return.

Just visited in Robbie Johnson and it never every disappoints. It is perfect in every way. When you walk in you hardly wait if there's no spare tables. The Waiter/Waitress ensure that you get a table, it is clean and spacious. My son had a CBLT with salad, I had the cheese and onion sandwich with salad. The coleslaw is home made and very tasty, fresh orange is delicious and cold. . The menu is extensive and caters for everyone, children, vegetarian. Access is great is caters for wheelchairs, Prams with ramp access, We very rarely veer off the same dishes as we enjoy them so much. The cakes very tempting and are keep cold in a fridge and look like they are delicious and fresh, The staff are friendly , and alert when you have finished and want to order. .Its a great place to eat, love it can't wait to visit again when I am in town shopping !!!

I have been here a few times and every time I go the food is delicious. The bacon and tomato sandwiches yummy and the corned beef, cheese and onion toastie lush. It comes with salad and homemade coleslaw and even that is fab. I tried one of their lemon cupcakes and they were amazing. I totally recommend it to anyone.

We've been coming to this cafe for years now and it's by far the nicest, cleanest and tastiest cafe we have ever been to!! Our family is so fussy, however we have NEVER had a problem in the many years we have been visiting here. We've tried other places to eat, but nothing competes with here! The chocolate milkshake is the best we have ever had, and the food is always cooked to perfection!! Friendly staff, and seasonal specials are so tasty on a separate menu board depending on the time of year (Christmas, summer etc). Really great place, and would recommend to all!!

Stopped off here for some lunch and how excellent it was. Although busy the service was very good from friendly staff. We both had salads, one chicken and one prawn and they were superb. The plates were full, as were we when we finished them and with a couple of drinks for £16 it was superb value.

Quick brunch and had toasted tea cakes. Best ever! Hot melted butter and served on warm plate. If you love a tea cake, try this one here. Best by far! Enjoyed a fabulous afternoon tea with the girls...the food was amazing...full size sandwiches..5 choices in total...beautiful scone with jam and cream...and then full size slice of gorgeous cake...and no endless amount of coffe/tea!! Well worth the money and would highly recommend!!

On the spot decision to visit for lunch. Despite being very busy service was prompt and food of very good quality. All four of us enjoyed our meal immensely.
