Lovely quaint cafe in the heart of the town, breakfast and coffee is delicious and staff are attentive and kind. Highly recommend stopping off here!

Great experience as a group of 8 (4 adults, 4 children) for a late lunch. Service was very attentive and thoughtful, good range of choices, our food was delicious (soup, panini, burgers etc plus good selection of tray bakes, cakes & scones), and restaurant clean, bright and well set up. Also very reasonably priced. Would recommend.

We popped in for lunch as we knew it was dog friendly from our last visit. We didn't realise that they don't usually allow dogs between 12 and 2 but as there was space they said we could stay which was really kind of them. Had a nice lunch and again the team there are so nice, it's definitely worth a visit.

wonderful breakfast carry out at the weekend, got distracted by the stunning waitress and nearly forgot my doughnut.

This cafe was an unexpected find on bank holiday Monday. The staff were really lovely and helpful and the food was perfect. I have walked past it so many times and not realised it was there but I will definitely be going back.

Splendid all round riverbank combo is a must to try, can get busy at times, may have to wait but the food is worth it. Always try to get in here when we are in the area, great place.

Visited on a Wednesday lunchtime when some other local cafes were closed in Newton Stewart. The cafe was spotless, the food was good, prices reasonable and staff friendly. Busy when we visited, but good atmosphere. Note, the restaurant is up stairs on the first floor, with no obvious disabled access.

Very poor.All day breakfast asked for hard egg and white was still soft never mind the yoke.Obviously didn’t listen.Ham and cheese melt was warm and the cheese was missing.Glasses for drinks were dirty.Staff to busy laughing and carrying on. Paying for food you expect good food and good service unfortunately didn’t get either. Won’t be back…

We went in for a snack which was delicious and the service was great the food was excellent, i would recommend it to anyone who are visiting Newton Stewart.

This is a fabulous place with great freshly made food and a staff that's to the envy of others. They we're more than helpful and most accommodating.

While on holiday in the local area I popped in to the Riverbank for a spot of lunch. The restaurant was quite busy, with a lot of the customers appearing to be locals - judging by the welcoming from the staff. The restaurant was nice and clean, and had a nice feel about it. There was a nice choice on the menu. The food was delicious and arrived in good time. The coffee (Flat White) was excellent, which was a surprise as a lot of restaurants and cafes seem to struggle to make good ones. The prices were very reasonable. All in all, a very nice restaurant. I shall return next year when I am in the area.

Food was very good, excellent soup and dessert option. Service good, price is okay but at the upper level, though it's hard to tell as everyone is having to cope with higher prices after covid.

I was in the hair salon, Remedy, that is in the same building as The Riverbank Cafe . Excellent hair stylist, always listens to what you want. Great service. Coffee and cake from Riverbank Cafe was delicious!

The riverbank is a very busy cafe . Has a varied menu. Everything we have had from here has been lovely. Only fault for myself was that there are some steep steps . I needed help! This is just a personal comment though.

tea room with restraint prices. Found some of the staff rude. There was no chicken wings for the combo meal - offered no apology or substitute.

Really disappointed as other reviews have mentions dogs are allowed in, only to have been told on the day that we would not be allowed to takes ours in.because the restaurant was busy. Regardless of whether the restaurant is busy or not, it is discriminating to not allow dogs on some occasions but allow them on others. We struggled to find other food options as a result and resorted to going to the nearby Sainsbury's.

Friendly and smiley staff. Clean, tidy. Small portion but I think that's mostly because we asked for ours as a Veggi breakfast and therefore had no bacon or sausages and ours was takeaway too. I think this place is missing out on more trade by not having a veggie or vegan breakfast on the menu as all they'd need is some good vegan/Veggi sausage to add to what they already serve. The cafe is upstairs so not perfect if you have mobility problems. Basic but tasty and definitely did the trick. They have oat milk too which we were very grateful to hear.

Very nice home baked cakes and buns. They do offer hot meals but I haven't tried that menu. The tea and coffee are very nice. Prices are about average for the area. £6 for tea and a bun.

Excellent food and service and the wifi works. The coffee was no more than acceptable. The scone with butter and jam was extremely good, let down only by the squirty cream presented in a ramekin.

Great place for lunch or a light snack. The restaurant was spotless and the service was quick and friendly. We had the quiche of the day with a salad and some chips and a chicken burger with salad and chips both of which were very tasty. Altogether came to about £20 plus a tip.

We've eaten twice here in a week. Fabulous fresh food, friendly service and lovely clean surroundings. We chose a lighter meal the second time to make sure we had room for dessert!

We visited in a busy day as two families of four, and we were quickly accommodated and well looked after. The menu had a good selection of snacks and meals, plenty for kids to choose from - jacket potatoes, sandwiches and panini with larger meals like hamburgers and full Scottish breakfasts. The chips were great, coffee was nice and the portions were decent. I had the all day breakfast and it was lovely. There was a very good selection of cakes too. The food came out quick and hot, and all of the staff were polite smiley and helpful - first class customer service. A great place to stop for a bite to eat.
