Went to the Riverbank bar + Kitchen on my birthday, food and atmosphere were great service was spot on. 👍

We received excellent service and the food was delicious! Family birthday meal last Saturday evening which was brilliant ! We sat upstairs and had plenty of room , not rushed at all and had amazing Adrian looking after us . Nothing was to much trouble , Adrian went the extra mile and then some , he kept checking if we were all ok , needed any drinks , checked when we wanted our food , he was extremely attentive and friendly thank you Adrian . I’ve visited The Riverbank a number of times now and have never been disappointed with the food or service thank you we will be back! .

Overlooking the river. Busy restaurant with a great atmosphere. Service was excellent and food was exceptional. Husband's belly pork main, was possibly the best version he has ever had (and he's had a few). Managed sorbet for dessert and it was very good.

Booked online. Arrived ten mins early - very busy Saturday night. Young lady told us we could have a long wait for our table. So we sat the bar and ordered drinks. Nice atmosphere. Five mins after the time our table was due a young man- assume manager- came over and said he was taking us to a table but it was a bit small And not the one he wanted for us. He then quickly moved us to a bigger one. He seemed really good- over everything. Starters- one never arrived. That’s why I have given four stats not five. Rest of food was good. Live music upstairs in bar. Really nice later in 930 onwards when it was quieter,

Came in on my own on Saturday lunchtime, and went for the slow roasted belt pork, which came with pancetta, black pudding, crispy kale, Shropshire Blue mash, and a gorgeous rich gravy. Absolutely sensational, and highly recommended!

Me and my wife came to Shrewsbury today. In the intent of finding somewhere for lunch to celebrate our wedding anniversary .Somewhere we had never been before .And I must say we had an absolute fantastic lunch here .Can not fault this fantastic restaurant. Great food ,absolutely great staff .We will be back soon, we hope.

Visited here for sunday lunch whilst out and about for the 1st time in Shrewsbury. Despite being very busy, they managed to find us a table for 4. Staff were very friendly and accomodating. We all decided for the 2 course sunday set-menu. Food arrived quickly and it was nice and hot and delicious. Great choice of vegetables and a lovely yorkshire pudding. Would definitely recommend.

We love this place. Both of them actually. We came in last week for a spot of lunch and, as always, were greeted with a smile and hot food. Swordfish was the catch of the day, fantastic and my partner has a nice little steak sandwich. They are always happy to go extra. It really bothers me when people do not appreciate this. There was a couple there the day we went who had, what can only be described as, a 'tantrum' because the table they wanted was dirty and the waiter had to spend more than 12 seconds relaying it. There were other tables available that were already clean. I am so glad I do not work in hospitality anymore. You guys are doing a great job.

This restaurant has become something of a ‘go-to’ for us whenever we have family visiting. The Sunday lunch in particular. The quality of the food and professional service that also comes across as friendly and informal is consistently there for us and very much appreciated. Set in a lovely spot too, perfect for a walk in the park to burn off the calories. Booking system is good and we’ve tended to find there is space available not too far in advance. In particular I’d recommend the roast beef dinner if you’re in on a Sunday. The great gravy and horseradish really makes it one of the best Sunday roasts around I reckon. The trimmings are very good too especially the root vegetable mash. I’d say the one opportunity for improvement are the roast potatoes though I can certainly live with them and can of course appreciate that creating picture perfect roasties in the volume and frequency required for a busy restaurant is almost impossible to do. Overall, can’t recommend it enough, a real credit to the town.

In January 2023 we listed this as our favourite place to eat in Shrewsbury. Sadly, what a difference a year makes! This is extremely sad and as a consequence we have decided not to return until something drastic changes. The last couple of times we have visited, the (same) male server has been quite rude and even apathetic. He had no concept of customer service. He didn't meet and greet in a manner that suggested he wanted our business. The opposite seemed to be true. This time, he arranged for the dirty table to be cleared, and eventually remembered that we were waiting to be seated. The last time we visited in June he commented on the amount of food I had ordered at the time of day (early afternoon) - a main and a side - clearly implying that I was some kind of fatty! Not great in any customer service role. But terrible in a restaurant! Back to February and my food was barely acceptable. My partner's meal was flavourless and unidentifiable - supposedly with chicken and bacon - but not identifiable as anything approaching this! Disgusting. We didn't stick around for dessert. We paid the service charge, as the waitresses did at least offer a reasonable level of service. Not clear whether the lad with glasses was a manager. But he needs drastic re-training and/or an attitude adjustment.

This used to be out favourite place to eat in Shrewsbury. It's been hit and miss in recent months. Today we arrived early. We were greeted and I explained we were 20 mins early but happy to get a drink and wait if our table wasn't ready. " it doesn't really matter to me either way" was the reply. This is the tall light haired guy with glasses. Please chat with someone about your manner. I'm pretty sure you are not trying to sound rude or dismissive, but you do. On a previous occasion, this staff member told my partner " that's a lot of food for this time of day" when he ordered a main and a side for lunch. I ordered the chicken and pancetta sandwich. I have no idea what I received. It looked like sandwich spread when I opened the sandwich. It tasted of nothing. No pieces of chicken. No pieces of pancetta. McDonald's type dries which were warm when they arrived, cold before I could finish them. There are too many great places to eat in Shrewsbury to pay for an experience like this. We didn't stay for dessert. We won't return. This place has changed beyond recognition in the past 12 months. I really hope it can be recovered.

Absolutely amazing service and food, amazing company

Pre theatre on a Monday and we were looking for something a little nearer to the theatre as the weather was foul. AleOli wasn't open and The Anchor wasn't serving food so we crossed the bridge to one of our favourite haunts. Nice welcome, friendly service. We were early so it was fairly quiet but the ambience is always nice. I had the wild mushroom risotto, quite rich but to be expected I guess. Nice glass of the house Red, I think Sicilian. My friend had a beer, I think Ludlow Gold. I couldn't find a menu online so please don't quote me. Recommended.

Loved this place. Great menu choices, comfortable ambiance after getting very tired walking 5 hours. Very convenient for later Theatre Severne visit.

Great restaurant - had a mixture of steak and fish dishes. Nice deserts too - with a very generous cheese board. Good wines - try the Romanian pinot noir! Friendly staff & good atmosphere - was pretty busy on a cold Monday night in February which says it all. Look forward to going back.

me and my girlfriend where looking for some where to eat the other night when we came across the rive bank bar. to say we where impressed is an under statement, we where served by a lovely and attentive server called Chloe she made excellent food and wine recommendation. she recommended us the calamari and the Saltimbocca chicken both of which we where very pleased with we will definitely come back next time we are in England.

Hosted a buffet here on a Friday evening for 20+ guests. Fantastic service and great communication from my original enquiry email to the evening event. We paid £15 per head and rather than choosing individual dishes I opted for a mixed hot and cold buffet and left it with the chefs to decide what was best. Everything was perfect an amazing, varied choice if food. The hot dishes were hot and everything was fresh and tasty. From mushroom Bruscetta to cheese and biscuits we couldn't fault anything Great service from the 2 servers. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a fantastic venue, food and drinks. We were staying in Shrewsbury for a show, and being unfamiliar with Shrewsbury we hadn't booked anywhere for food. We came across Riverbank and it was busy and had a great atmosphere. We asked the very kind man, who's name we didn't catch if they had a table for three. He was very kind and got his manager to find us a table. The service was incredible quick and everyone was lovely. The food was delicious. I would recommend this if you are looking for somewhere to have a nice meal. We will be going back for sure 😊

Visited with my sister. We would have given 5 if the staff had been happier/friendlier. Nothing wrong with the food and drink and the manager’s attention to detail but the waitresses were cold. The waiter was warm and friendly. But waitresses possibly not happy in their work or feeling superior. Not sure but stops me wanting to go again.

The service and food was - and always is - absolutely lovely. From the greeting at the door, to the service throughout the meal itself, the staff are wonderful. They clearly have a good working relationship which is always nice to see. The food was great. We had some of the nibbles for our starters, and our mains we had the seafood linguini, and a halloumi burger - all delicious. Scott was ever so helpful when it came to ordering cocktails, creating something new for my friend who is very particular when it comes to drinking. All in all, another excellent experience.

4 of us dining 3 meals where good, mine not so. The starter arrived after the first three, becareful the bowl is hot (meat balls) the bowl was the meat balls were tepid went back to be microwaved better but not great quite tough. Main meal again three successes mine seafood linguine meal late and not really hot, squid was like a rubber band pasta chewey just not great hence the score 3 out of 4. Service not great ingnored, left with dirty table after main course time between main and starter was unacceptable. We waited so long for two teas and water at end of the meal decided to cancelled paid and left this spoilt the day. Just not a great experience won't be back

It was my birthday dinner with my father. Unfortunately, there were some ups and downs during our visit, mostly downs. On the positive side, i enjoyed the soup - parsnip and carrot - which was absolutely delicious and I would wholeheartedly recommend it. However, we both ordered rib-eye steaks, which were quite expensive at almost thirty pounds per meal. While I expected some fat in the cut, there appeared to be an excessive amount, which detracted from the overall experience. The staff were pleasant, especially a young Italian gentleman. After we finished our main courses, we were offered menus for dessert and asked if we wanted another drink, which I did. However, after waiting for more than 20 minutes, no one came to take our order or bring us a drink, so we decided to settle the bill and leave. All in all, we left feeling disappointed.

Went here for my birthday, we have been twice before had one good experience and one awful experience but decided to give it one more go . Wish we hadn’t. Waited an age for our starters and when it arrived the bread was like concrete and inedible. Our mains came out in good time but my rice was overcooked and sticky so I could not eat it and my wife had steak and chips / fries is what they call them but they were that hard if you tried to cut one half would shoot off the plate . Sadly I think the chef is not experienced enough for a busy kitchen and the some of the front of house need to go on a course of meeting and greeting etiquette. We will not return to this restaurant and my advice to anyone who is unsure where to eat in Shrewsbury put this low down on your list .

Trying to find somewhere for a birthday lunch for me, my husband popped in to look at the menu. A male member of staff looked him up and down and asked, "Are you here for a takeaway or are you just being nosy?" What an absolutely disgraceful way to greet potential customers. So much for the season of goodwill. Won't be back.

Very disappointing. Had a pleasant meal in october and decided to book for grandchildren finishing school at 5pm. When arrived we were not greeted properly and girl couldnt find our booking. Very bad vibe from her but eventually found the booking. Despite having under 10's with us not offered kids menu until requested. Food service after starters was slow, food was quite warm not hot. Drinks served without a smile by any of the staff who served us. Despite this lack of attention to our table we were offered the choice to pay service charge of £15 which we declined to pay. All in all not a great experience. Food ok. Toilets are up a spiral staircase. Access into restaurant not disable friendly either up several steps then more inside.

I’ve been to this restaurant a few times and have always had a lovely meal so booked it to celebrate a family birthday ! Sadly we were extremely disappointed …. The restaurant was extremely busy and we waited one hour and a half for the starters to arrive!!!!!! …. We didn’t make a fuss as the ambiance and the waiting on staff were very nice. However, when the two nut roast Sunday dinners arrived with no vegetables I was bitterly disappointed. I asked if the vegetables would be coming and was informed they’d failed to realise they’d run out of vegetables! No reduction was made on the bill and we paid full price for two meals that were very lacking. We also ordered a burger and the bread and bacon were solid and inedible . As I said it’s usually one of my favorite restaurants but tonight was very disappointing.

Such a lovely spot for dinner, so nice to see the trees by the river from the tables. The service was friendly and the food was imaginative and so tasty. Met here for a catch up with a friend on a Saturday night and the atmosphere was fun, welcoming and relaxed. I requested some slight changes to my meal which were provided by the kitchen with no fuss. I'd return for sure.

Visited here on a Saturday night with friends - 3 in total. Booked table for 7pm and place was already thriving. Great looking place with nice decor cosy and vibrant atmosphere. Shown straight to our table and drink orders taken immediately. Fantastic choice in menu which a really good variety of dishes. Really hard to choose from. I decided to go for rump steak, fries and rocket & Parmesan salad which was fantasti, excellent value for money and great size portion. My friends had the mushroom risotto which looked amazing and other had the gnocchi dish. For desserts they had crème brûlée and the chocolate orange pudding both said they were amazing and even had other diners asking what they were. Great service, especially for how busy it was. Drinks menu good and wine a decent price Toilets upstairs and looked like a cocktail bar. I’ve already planned my next visit. Actually can’t put anything negative about my evening

Most of the staff were fantastic however one member let you down, when asked if we could have a window seat in a completely empty restaurant he said why would I let you have a window seat when you haven't booked, not at all professional. He then served a bottle of water which was dirty. However and luckily the rest of the staff were fantastic and the food was amazing otherwise this fantastic looking restaurant on the river seven would have struggled to get 3 stars.

Food was excellent. Cleanliness and hygiene not perfect. Stairs up to toilets very dirty. Waitress polishing crockery. She was knelt on floor. Crockery piled up on floor. She was polishing with cloth. In my view this is not good practise. There were plenty of empty tables

This was a spontaneous visit without booking a table. Despite being very busy, the staff were friendly and managed to find us a table. The restaurant has a lovely ambience. The food and service we received were very good and I am sure we will return.

We visited the Riverbank for Sunday lunch after a recommendation from a friend and we were not disappointed. The roast beef was excellent. We also had bread and butter pudding for dessert which was also lovely. The staff were friendly and efficient. I would highly recommend Sunday lunch here.

A beautiful venue started so well. Booked a table for 4.30 pm on Saturday night (14.10.23) the previous week. On arrival, we sat and given our menus. One drink and a starter later, the place on Saturday night was getting busy as expected. No sooner as I finished my starter our mains arrived which was fine. I had burger hubby chicken pasta. Both lovely but very filling so could not finsh. This was where it went downhill!!!... Table cleared quickly while chatting. we were asked if we would like dessert. Not at the moment, I stated. Wanted to digest our food, take in the relaxed atmosphere, and enjoy our drinks. Then our waitresses kept hoovering over us it was now an hour since we arrived at 5.30 pm and by 5.40 we had changed our minds and thought we would order desserts and more drinks!! BUT NO, our waitresses then reluctantly gave us the menus said to us, "You only have 18 min left to order dessert etc as we need your table as we have a party of 8 coming in at 6!!! This was the 1st time out for us as a couple in a while. we were gobsmacked, so I said we'll if we can't enjoy them, then no, we won't be ordering. Thank you. At no ponit were we told on arrival that we only had the table for 1.5 hrs or when I had originally booked. Said waitresses then came along 10 min after as I was still finishing my drink to say, "Do you want your bill?! Couldn't believe it is no offer to sit us somewhere else, i.e., a sofa or smaller side table to finish our drinks or even offer us to finish our meal/dessert. Waitress was rude and definitely needs to go on customer service training!!. I wanted to call the manager over, but my husband was so fed up that we just left. So if you're after a nice quiet meal out with your other half, dont come here unless you're willing to be rushed out of the door! And no, we didn't pay the service charge as service was terrible

A great place to eat. A pleasant riverside location with attractive, clean decor and a nice ambience. The food was really great. We had gammon and mushroom risotto for lunch. Both were excellent, served hot (not always a given these days) and with good portions. Jamie, the waiter, was friendly, courteous and I was impressed that he didn't need a notebook. A nice touch to have some water and bread offered (no charge) before the meal as well. The bread was delicious. We will recommend you to others and will visit again the next time we are in Shrewsbury.

Visited this evening to celebrate a big family birthday. From the ordering of the food to the very end of the evening, all I can say is Wow. Large party of 22 was catered for perfectly. Food and especially cocktails were absolutely fantastic. The hospitality was second to none here once again. All I can say is thank you so very much The Riverbank. You made my husband's 60th birthday very special.

Went for lunch with my family. Staff were amazing, super friendly. Food was awesome, all dishes top class. Lastly I had my small child and they also have a great kids menu and made the effort with her. Would defo go again next time I'm in shrews. Loved it

Lovely restaurant, although food very disappointing. My favourite fish is halibut so I was delighted to see that was the fish of the day. Sadly the halibut was tasteless and very under seasoned. I'm sure if we'd chosen something else we would have had a better experience.

We were very discustin the way we were treated we had come to Shrewsbury to support the pride didn't know the area well as we were from Wolverhampton had an amazing day was wet due to the weather some of us had ponchos on to keep us dry saw this place and thought let's go for a drink in here as lt was the nearest place on our travels when we arrived went to bar which the young guy was happy to take our money then we were told by the young guy that the manager said he shouldn't of served us why you tell me so we moved over to another part and was told you can't sit there as it was food only but no sign to say that so went down stairs and was told again you can't sit here then guy came over again and put us buy the seating by the stairs where no one could see us never felt so embarrassed in my life then the manager said it's a private party up there if this was the case why didn't they say we would of understood instead we were treated like dirt of there shoe would neve entertain this place ever again and would like an apology

Oh so sad. Really disappointed. Beautiful location, great menu but not the best. The staff were lovely, drinks were fine but food wasn’t good. Can only speak for my self but came for a family members birthday which we slipped into conversation a few times with staff but nowt happened from it. I had chicken liver parfait to start which seemed dry and not enough bread (but to be fair there never is enough) then I had fillet streak and chips for mains. The steak was unfortunately stringy/sinuey, definitely need the steak knife. The chips seemed undercooked and were frozen oven chips. Sad times.

We came here with my fiancee and both of our families to celebrate our engagement. It was an amazing evening, the food was delicious, the staff were friendly and attentive, and the music upstairs was fun and lively. Overall, it was an incredible evening!

Prior to our night in Shrewsbury Prison we booked to have Dinner at the Riverbank Bar and Kitchen. Arrived slightly early which was not a problem ,greeted on arrival by polite and attentive staff. Ambience was very nice, had a cozy table for two ,began filling up with diners very quickly, food was lovely and were not kept waiting to be served. If we lived closer would certainly be one of our favourite places to eat .Would highly recommend.

Had two mocktails Passionfruit mocktail (tangerine colour) Jailhouse in the rocks (red drink) Absolutely flipping beautiful ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Cost £9.90 but I would gladly come back and have more If you want amazing drinks at a great price definitely go here

Never been before and have to say I’m glad I came. The staff were lovely and the food was gorgeous! Compliments to the chef as the hake was cooked to perfection even though the place was so busy. The risotto was gorgeous too. Will definitely be coming back. Thank you.

Been coming here since it opened and so pleased to see the restaurant go from strength to strength. Even in these difficult times, the place was heaving and the staff thoroughly deserve the 10% service charge. We shared the veggie paella, more than plenty for two and our friends had the belly pork and the mushroom risotto. We all enjoyed the food, I mustn't forget to mention the halloumi fries we grazed on first, so good. Never had a bad experience, always been excellent. Long may that continue.

Beautiful location and wonderful food! We went here for my 40th birthday and it didn't disappoint. The food was excellent.

Visited yesterday with a friend and my one year old. Food was decent but the visit was completely ruined by the attitude of the waiter and I certainly will not ever come back. Having eaten our meal we sat for quite some time waiting for our plates to be taken and to ask for the bill and couldn't get the attention of any of the staff, once we got the attention of a staff member we got the bill and again sat waiting for someone to come and take payment from us. By this point my little one was starting to get a little impatient as we had been sat for a while waiting to pay so he was feeling a bit fed up and let out a single squeal out of frustration of being stuck waiting when he wanted to leave, immediately one of the waiters came over to us and asked us to leave as they can't have children whinging and squealing etc. I explained to the man we are waiting to pay and leave and have been waiting a while for someone to actually come over and take payment hence why my son was starting to get a bit fed up, the man ignored this and just continued saying that my child is going to upset other customers and cause them to complain and we had to leave the premises immediately etc. To which I said again well if you let us pay we will leave which like I said we have been waiting quite a while to do so if you could just take our payment now then we can leave as we don't even want to be in the premises anymore. The man then left to get a card machine and then came back being overly nice and smiley. The whole encounter was completely unnecessary and made us feel really uncomfortable and unwelcome and the man's whole attitude was really rude and confronting. My child had been good as gold throughout our time there and had only started to whinge due to the fact we had been waiting for so long to pay and leave. We had a nice meal it's just a shame that this particular staff member was so rude and completely let the place down.

Food was lovely but had to ask for cutlery and napkins, hence the 4 stars for service

Service was appalling. The duty manager was in accommodating and rude when we asked for a window to be closed, that was causing a draft on a rainy and window. Our order of wine had to be requested from three waiting staff. Our cheese and desert didn’t turn up. We surmised that this was because we asked for the window to be closed and had to send the wrongly delivered wine back.

Very enjoyable group lunch. Food good, staff excellent.

Having visited twice this week, once on busy Sunday lunchtime and today. The quality of the food and service is reassuringly the same. Service is both friendly and efficient and the food fresh and tasty. Very relaxing atmosphere too. Big thanks to all the staff.

Never eaten at the riverbank before and was truly amazed, the food and service were absolutely superb. A very unexpected surprise and will definitely be going back again and would highly recommend anyone to go and try them out

Food was excellent. The interior and feel of the place was really nice. Service was generally good, they were a little stretched perhaps but it was busy. We asked for some more drinks, but they never arrived, forgotten. We didn't get charged but that was the only thing that could have been better. Otherwise, lovely place, would recommend.

Professional and friendly bar staff (upstairs) and quite lively. The quality of the band not so much but didn't know they were on.
