A wonderful place to celebrate a birthday with friends - so relaxed and friendly. The Christmas Afternoon tea is fabulous with a lovely ( and very generous) selection of sandwiches and beautifully made cakes and scones - all really fresh and very tasty. And we loved the choice of jams with the scones and teas to suit everyone. A big thank you to Karen and Debbie. See you again in 2024

Had a lovely time, food was delicious and staff friendly and helpful. They provided yeast free bread for me, which was a real treat as haven’t been able to have a sandwich in over 2 years. Good selection of teas and jams. Highly recommended and look forward to visiting again soon - best to book as it is justifiably popular.

This is a good place for our family afternoon teas. The staff are really nice and friendly. They have little stalls around the room selling local crafts. The last time we went the scones were warm but this time they were really cold - as if they had come straight out of the fridge. They have home made cakes under glass domes which you can purchase to take home but they cakes they serve for the afternoon tea are not home made - they are shop bought. We asked if one had nuts in and the lady said she would look on the packet. Despite this the teas are all loose leaf and the selection is wonderful - I always choose Oolong with lemon slices.

Well I suppose it's never a good idea to have high expectations when visiting a new venue. It's a village hall effectively decorated with old and old fashioned tea crockery. A good effort for the limited surroundings but it does feel temporary (which I guess it is as only open limited hours). Even though you don't have to book to have the cream tea, i.e. Tea and cake available on the day, it seems if you book a group in advance you have to pay at least £8 up front pp just for the privilege of reserving a seat even if you don't want cream tea (excess refunded on the day). It was very cold on arrival but soon became warm enough as tea and people arrived.I'm told the servers are volunteers so this can excuse the sometimes blunt manner and some errors with service. On the whole it was ok but not up to some more official tea rooms / hotels/ stately homes. Cream tea is reasonable at £12 but gluten free cream tea is 25% more expensive than normal which is unacceptable to me. Only one choice of gluten free cake was offered and the gluten free scone was less than half the size of a normal one. The normal sandwiches looked good and seemed fresh but only one scone per person and limited cake in cream tea option. More cake on the side but presumably extra cost.Jam (choice of) and cream only served later so don't eat the scone first! They have a few different sorts of tea but if you want coffee it's only a cafetière. I ordered decaf cafetière (pleased they do offer this) however I was presented with a teapot of some sort of tea. This was replaced on request with a the requisite cafetière (no apology) but they forgot to replace the cup they had taken away. If you want more tea/coffee you have to ask for it. Worth trying though and probably seems better if you don't hear /read the raving reviews first. Signposted, on sat nav and good parking.

I'd read up on the Riseley Tea Rooms before going, so thought I knew what to expect.I pre-booked for Afternoon Tea, for 2 people. Cost is now £12 per person for afternoon tea (very similar afternoon tea is £12.95 for two people in M&S Reading); I'd happily pay that for the lovely china, ambiance etc.... but the sandwiches were not very nice, we had one fruit scone and one plain, with the plain scone being overcooked and lopsided. I did notice other peoples scones were fine, so maybe mine was a one off.The thing I really didn't like was that there was no choice food wise, it was already pre-made and laid out on a tiered cake plate. The mixture of sandwich fillings was: pickled(?) cucumber, Tuna, Salmon, Egg Mayo and Ham. My friend is vegetarian, but no-one asked if what came out was ok and I personally don't like fish. Also, most of the sandwiches were on white bread (yuck).I also remember reading a review on Trip Advisor that you got a choice of cake.... we didn't. We weren't offered any cake and had to go to the kitchen area to ask for more milk and then more tea. Overall service wasn't great, they spent most of the time in the kitchen drinking tea.Sadly I really wanted to love the Tea Rooms, but I didn't. M&S afternoon tea was half the price and tasted better, in my opinion.

The tea room at Riseley provided the perfect venue to celebrate a friend's 21st birthday. The atmosphere is relaxed and convivial, nothing is too much trouble and the food was excellent. The lovely ladies who served us were friendly and professional, the room was warm and welcoming and I wouldn't hesitate to return. Thank you very much for a delightful afternoon.

Took my family here for a lovely cream tea. The room is decorated beautifully with chandeliers and lovely china tea cups. Free parking (and plenty of it). There are tables of local crafts; paintings, cards, jewellery etc for sale around the outside of the room and best of all NO NOISY KIDS (because there is so much breakable china stacked around the room)! They have coffee or an amazing choice of loose leaf tea (including lemon and ginger or green tea). The staff are really lovely. You book your table for the afternoon and they don't try and rush you out so it is a wonderful setting for a good chat with friends. Love it, can't wait to go again!

Visited this wonderful Tea Room today as a birthday treat. We have been wanting to visit for over a year so it was a fantastic treat to be going at last.So tastefully decorated - it was like having tea at my grannie's all over again! The crockery and cutlery together with the tablecloths and napkins were tastefully set out. We had the Afternoon Tea - an assortment of dainty sandwiches (veggie for me on a separate plate), scones - fruit and plain with a choice of 4 different jams and clotted cream, tarts, macarons, fresh fruit and chocolate cake. I must admit that last item defeated me! Luckily we hadn't had breakfast as the booking was for 2pm.The volunteer ladies were very friendly and the other cakes on offer looked amazing too. Will definitely return. A real hidden gem in today's world.

We have been here a few times before, this time my husband and I took 3 elderly ladies for Afternoon tea. The sandwiches were lovely as usual and the scones were fantastic. The staff are always friendly and this time was no different. We shall definitely return again.

The ladies running Riseley tea rooms do an outstanding job. They are great and their produce simply stunning, especially the scones which are unbelievably light. They've turned a modern village hall into a welcoming, typically English, classic tea room with quality tablecloths, napkins, and china. There's a great selection of teas and even better cakes. Our party of 15, including a baby, was looked after superbly (best to book with a big group though). Most of us had the Afternoon Tea which was great and good value. Just wish they were closer to where we live as we'd use them regularly.

This is a hidden gem. Stunning cakes and scones. Served in vintage China. Lovely ladies running it - whom I believe are volunteers - a must ! Ignore the 70s brick building on the outside - it's lovely inside. Walk or short drive from Wellington country park .

Quintessentially English - a village hall, chandeliers, table cloths and bone china crockery. So what more could you want? Try thin cut sandwiches freshly prepared - cucumber, egg, smoked salmon then ham, fat fruit scones with clotted cream and jam of your choice and then cake. Oh and freshly brewed leaf tea - lots of it. If that isn't quite enough then do add a glass of champagne. A blissful way to spend an afternoon with a girlfriend on the occasion of her birthday.

We are regular visitors for cream teas and on occasion afternoon tea.Today was afternoon tea for 8 people. Their high standards were repeated again today. Service was speedy with attention to detail. We very much enjoyed the sandwiches, cakes and scones. They also had a fabulous selection of cakes available to purchase as an extra. This was not needed however due to the generous servings. Great selection of teas served is elegant China. Riseley tea rooms really is one of those special places that we would be lost without. Great work done by Pam and the other volunteers. Looking forward to our next visit.

This is a real find, tucked away in Riseley and manned by volunteers, the tea rooms are a delight. The chandeliers add a certain great feel to the place, as does the fine bone china cups and saucers. THe tea is loose leaf and very good quality and the selection of homemade cakes is vast. A full afternoon tea can be enjoyed, complete with scones and jam.

Having asked for recommendations on Facebook for the best place to have afternoon tea, the Riseley Village Tea room came up again and again. We were not disappointed. We were warmly greeted on arrival and shown our table. It was beautifully set with an old style tea service. We were asked to choose our preferred choice of tea and what jam we would like for our scones. My family eagerly sat down and awaited the arrival of the little sandwiches, cakes, scones and little macaroons. We loved it, the sandwiches were fresh, tasted good quality and a good variety, cheese and pickle, egg mayo, salmon, cucumber and Ham. Ohhhh they were just lovely. Cakes again were lovely, coffee and walnut, chocolate and Victoria sponge. The scones were just as good, rich clotted cream and jam mmmmmm. We were offered more cake (homemade) once we had cleared the tray of goodies which had been homemade. Lemon Drizzle.... yummy To sum up. These place is a gem. The service was outstanding, the personal touch was second to none. For the younger children who get bored sitting at the table, a large park is out the back for them to burn off those calories.

Two of us joined a celebration tea for a 60th Wedding Anniversary. With about 40 people there, it was a great afternoon. The room is really well designed and furnished. It has a charming atmosphere and oh joy, tablecloths and china and dainty spoons, sandwiches in triangles, with no crusts, fresh scones with jam and cream, (or cream and jam if you prefer.) The staff were so friendly and helpful and at the serving area you could see nothing but smiles. We are going again and again and.....Thanks Jake to you and your staff.
