Rice Thai Restaurant in Bedford

A surprise 1 night layover in Bedford, courtesy of Aventi trains, turned into a bigger surprise when we found this place a short walk from the hotel. With barely 30 covers, the cutest little family run Thai house, serving exceptional dishes to an enthusiastic audience, even on a Sunday. And they seem to keep Deliceroo pretty busy too. Check out the Bangkok Bad Boy, and the Duck Salad!

Amazing food and always so friendly especially, the waitress who speaks Thai is always a welcome face letting us practice with her! Recommend the prawns on toast.

First time here, would definitely go back. Lovely food, friendly attentive service, good portion sizes.

I loved the food so much here! It was extremely delicious! The service was impeccable and the decorations were so beautiful! The only thing I’d say is when we went it was quite quiet in the restaurant so I would have put the music a little louder so that customers can have conversations comfortably without worrying if they can be heard. As we were leaving, the restaurant was full of people by around 6pm on a Sunday, it was fully booked! So I recommend if you’re going around that time that you book.

Excellent food at a great price, really worth

A very nice place. Beautifully decorated and cosy. The food is of excellent quality and the people are accommodating and friendly. I highly recommend it and I will definitely go again and suggest Rice Thai.

Love this place, best Thai in Bedford

I'm not actually a massive Thai food fan but I love coming here. They just seem to do plenty of dishes that I really enjoy, especially the pad Thai! Great service too.

Completely mediocre. The food is ok but under flavoured in most dishes. Was impossible to get a top up on drinks as no one came over to ask how our meal was the whole time. Big gap between starter and main even though they were fairly quiet. And finally play some more atmospheric music - I don’t need to hear 90’s greatest hits in a Thai restaurant!

Outstanding Thai food, service and atmosphere. Very authentic. Highly recommended. Only consideration is that it’s a relatively small space and tables are quite close to each other, but this adds to the atmosphere.

My friends and I really enjoyed dinner at Rice Thai Restaurant Bedford. All the staff are very friendly and very understanding with food allergies. The food is very delicious and makes me and my friends want to come back to eat here again. I really like Krappow Gai, the seasoning is very delicious.

We had dinner at Rice Thai Restaurant yesterday. We really enjoyed eating at this restaurant. The food is very delicious, excellent service, and good ambience.We will definitely come back to this restaurant. My favorite dishes Moo Gob Krappow and Chicken Penang curry.

I can understand why this place is highly rated. It because there are less than four authentic Thai restaurants in Bedford and therefore Bedford people have not experienced real good Thai food like I have. I travel the UK and abroad and always eat Thai food. However, the positives are the portions are a good size, they don't skimp on the meat or give you lots of onions and veg to cover the fact they are giving small portions of meat like most Bedford restaurants. But the food flavour is very mediocre. It's not bad but it's not very good either. Most of the starters were clearly premade and reheated but we're nice. I was hoping to be a regular if the food was good, but I won't be eating at this restaurant again. It's a bit over rated in my opinion. There are other better Thai restaurants in Bedford.

Fabulous food, atmosphere and service.

Our first visit, hopefully of many. The staff were brilliant and the food was even better. The best Thai food we've had. They even altered the spiciness of the curry for my wife, who doesn't like food too hot. It's certainly worth booking ahead, to avoid disappointment.

A very good restaurant, great menu selection, huge portions, and a most varied selection of what I would consider authentic Thai food. I would consider it expensive but I went for the early bird, well worth it.

Again first time dining here, have walked pasted several times and thought must try as it looks amazing, so its easy to get to as there is a car park less than 5 mins away and if after 6pm it's free, on this occasion I hadn't booked I just chanced going in and to be honest they couldn't of been more helpful, was shown to our table and was given ample time to think what we wanted, when the food arrived all I can is wow, bloody lovely the best Thai I've had by far, the prices are reasonable to, the only thing negative is the tables are a little close to each other, other than brilliant definitely worth going and certainly will be back.

The staff at Rice Thai were so welcoming, despite the fact that ours was a late booking (9.30pm). We went on a Thursday, the night they have their banquet menu, which has plenty of choice, including several veggie options and is very good value. The food was really very good. If anything, we ordered too much! Thank you Rice Thai, we'll be back!

The team are so friendly and sweet. The food is delicious- I would highly recommend the sharing platter to start as it has a little bit of everything. Definitely one to book in advance as it has limited seating, but for me that is one of it’s advantages!

Had the 2 course Sunday menu very good quality and value for money

We went for Sunday lunch, they have a special 2 course menu to include your 1st drink for £19.95, which is excellent value. We chose spring rolls and tempura. King prawns aa a starter each, which we shared, both very nice. To follow, we had pork and cashew nut stir fry with egg fried rice, and chicken pad Thai, both decent portions, hot and tasty. The waitress was very helpful. She turned down the very loud music when we asked, as we could not hear ourselves speak. The restaurant was cold as no heating on, but once we started to eat, we soon warmed up. We managed to park almost outside the door, nice clean toilet, we will definitely return.

I have been there with my family, their hospitality is awesome. All staff were very kind and gentle. I had my best Thai platter n green Thai curry was beyond my imagination. Very authentic flavor in every dish. I was really satisfied after eating there. My 16 months old son also enjoyed the rice noodles. Would love to visit again with our friends

Enjoyed a very lovely 3 course meal here which I would describe as the most authentic Thai I’ve ever had. The mixed platter had a great selection, with a great balance of sweet, sour and spicy and each starter was packed with a lot of flavour. The chicken penang curry was cooked fresh and to perfection with the perfect blend of spice. I would also recommend the banana fritters for dessert which had the right amount of sweetness to end my meal. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very calm and relaxed, and the servers were all very helpful and attended all my queries with detail and a warm attitude. I enjoyed my meal with no faults and look forward to my next visit.

If you expect a leisurely experience don’t go! If the owner had told us we had a set time I would have gone elsewhere.. Especially when I ordered extra drinks which we felt we had to leave.. Pity I will not be returning, as the food and general ambiance was very pleasant for tiny place. The service was also a little rushed!! Disappointed!

Ordered a delivery and when the food arrived (on time) it was still piping hot. The food was delicious and definitely my favorite Thai in the whole of Bedford. A must try for all locals.

Lovely little place with excellent food and friendly service.

Yet another fantastic meal at Rice. Since our first visit in August 2015 we have never had a bad meal and always leave very happy. The thai prawn crackers with a nice spicy dip gets things going. Followed by tempura prawns. The mains were faultless and really enjoyed the Thai Red curry. We ended the night with a Mint Two Dogs on ice. Thank you Nutella and staff for a great evening. Keep up the good work. We’re already looking forward to our next visit.

A take-away, for a double birthday, £85ish for 5 adults. No hint of lemon grass, garlic, spice? The Beef steak strips (tiger something) were dull slices of rump with gristle & fat and nowhere near the spice of a previous visit. Have you had trouble finding fresh produce in the Christmas-NewYear week? Well don't charge the same price and apologise for the lack. A very dull meal. And yes, I was 5-years in the far east and had many happy times in Thailand, The odd thing is, 6-months ago you were very much better. Are you going to be Bedford's go-to restaurant or are your days numbered?

My partner's meal was perfect but I would suggest no one repeats my choice of belly pork which was basically rock hard pellets of bacon rhind in chilli source. Starter of soft shell crab was not how I remember it being from any other restaurant in my 40yrs of dinning out in Asia. The plain rice was ok tho 🥳. 2 tiny beers, 1 prosecco and one soft drink. Fantastic dining experience! We had the veg panang curry and the tofu stir fry with garlic rice. Both were excellent with just the right balance of savory and umami! The server was super nice. She was a breath of fresh air!

This place is fantastic, located on the outskirts of the town centre just round the corner from the rugby club. Its small but cosy and the staff are very welcoming. Easily the Best Thai meal I’ve ever had, amazing flavours, good portion sizes and great service. Couldn’t recommend a better Thai restaurant in or around the Bedford area. FYI the tamarind duck in the specials is incredible.

I’ve been here 3 times and was shocked it’s only 12 on trip advisor so giving a review! Service is great. The food is amazing, the calamari is my favourite. The wine is all from a local winery which is cool too. The early bird offer is definitely something to take advantage of. I will be back!

Another excellent meal at Rice Thai tonight. I've been quite a few times now, and I have to say I can't fault the service or the food. Excellent depth of flavour to the Green Thai curry and the Massaman Beef curry. The starter from the set menu was excellent and tasty. Although the restaurant itself is small, the food certainly packs a punch. The service from all the staff is excellent and attentive. First time we have ordered from here and we absolutely loved it. I am Gluten Free and pretty much everything on the menu I could eat which was a huge plus. The service and staff were amazingly helpful when I called to speak about dishes. If you like your food hot like me then this will definitely be for you.
