Restaurant Nathan Outlaw in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

An absolutely fabulous meal cooked by Nathan Outlaw and his team. I find it impossible to fault in any way, from arrival and welcome to carefully boxed petit-fours to take away. The tasting menu was beautiful and professionally explained by staff. Throughout, I felt our custom was appreciated and that's a big deal for me. So many highlights, but I'll mention only one - turbot in peppercorn hollandaise. How can a chef create a dish that allows strong flavours such as those to permeate in their own right, and not dominate to the exclusion of others? Just delightful.

I have run out of superlatives for New Road and Fish Kitchen Ambience brilliant, staff brilliant, food mind bendingly brilliant Wines excellent also We have been visiting Nathan for at least 15 years or so and at least 4 times a year and it has blown our mind every time Do it !

We visited on recommendation, and although the food was very good, it didn’t meet our expectations. I love fish, it’s nearly always my first choice when dinning out, but by the fifth fish course I was longing for something different, maybe if there had been a proper side order of vegetables it would have been different, but although each course was perfectly cooked, and pretty on the plate it just seemed too much. As to valve for money, we felt too expensive. Would we go again? No.

We have visited a few fine dining restaurants only on special occasions only, certainly not regulars. They have the prime location, stunning views, with lovely staff who served our meals. However, based on our experience we would not return to this establishment. We had an issue with the meal following our visit. Communicated this with their Comms team who gave the appropriate advice but patronising tone to email. Sadly our experience was extremely poor, not worth the money, and will not be returning.

Going to this restaurant is not just a delicious meal, it is a wonderful experience! Nathan had recently taken delivery of a locally line caught Blue Fin Tuna, which he turned into some fantastic tartare and an amazing steak; other dishes included tasty scallops with smoked roe, and red mullet with Porthilly sauce, my favourite - what a treat! This was all accompanied by some very interesting and perfectly complimenting wines, suggested by Damian the sommelier. The service from Anna and the team was immaculate as always!

Words are going to fail me here. We had the pleasure of eating at Outlaw's New Road restaurant last evening. To simply describe it as sublime just isn't enough. Each and every course left us speechless, beautiful ingredients, carefully prepared and presented like art it was just perfection. The attention to every detail, including the decor, staff and venue and to add the view..... well, incredible. Thank you to all involved, we hope to be back again.

Having eaten at their Fish Kitchen restaurant the evening before, we thought that was good but here takes the culinary delights to another level. Firstly, a great setting with views over the bay, then comes the very warm welcome, all before the menu. An evening's experience (was it really 3 hours plus?) and every course a new experience. Fabulous in every way.

Yet again, this was a truly wonderful evening. The high quality and imaginative food, the location, the friendly and attentive team all work in harmony making a perfect evening. The wine list appears to be smaller than previously but still contains a good and varied selection. As the title says, this is our happy place and we could not imagine visiting North Cornwall without a visit.

From the moment we arrived the service and attention was excellent - suitably pitched to be discreet but attentive. The food quality was outstanding and they also certainly make use of the fantastic views too!

10 years ago we celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary at Outlaws restaurant in the St. Enodoc hotel, so it seemed appropriate to celebrate our 50th at New Road. This was such the right decision! We love Nathan's fish cooking and have visited his London restaurants in recent years (now sadly no more). Dinner at New Road is a fabulous experience. The warm welcome, relaxed ambiance and wonderful view of the sea was all in addition to the fabulous fish menu. Each course was a little gem in its own right, but the lobster risotto stood out and was truly sublime! The staff were super efficient and pleasant without being overly attentive - we were never interupted to be asked is "everything all right so far?" - brilliant! We are no fans of "wine flights" so the wine list with so many choices by the glass was perfect for us. It was nice to see such interesting wines and several local selections. We had a fantastic almost 4 hour experience and it definately won't be 10 years before we come back. Thanks to everyone at New Road - seen and unseen.

What a place, perfectly situated on the Port Isaac coast with uninterrupted view across the sea! Absolutely stunning setting for an unforgettable family celebration. We warmed up with dinner the evening before at Outlaws Fish Kitchen which was superb but this was another level. I am surprised that is hasn't got a second star but there were touches that were missed to build it up. Our water glasses weren't topped up although the carafe was never half empty. Napkins were not folded when we popped to the loo. And its touches that small that makes it more than 1 star. Nonetheless this food was outstanding, every course we better than the last and we left incredibly satisfied and very well looked after by the staff. Fish being our thing as a family it was a no brainer that we come to celebrate my Dad's birthday, and I want to thank everyone that made it so special for us. Memories that will last a lifetime. The scallops with a hazelnut crumb was my dish of the day, although each of our party had a different favourite.....but how can you have a favourite when it was all perfection. You deserve a second star guys.....but may just need to brush up on a couple of very minor areas! Thank you
