Restaurant Flat Three in Kensington and Chelsea

Service was first class, but the quality of food was in excess of multiple stared Michelin Restaurants nearby. Could not rate this place more highly.

The restaurant is in an excellent location in Holland Park. I thought the food was terrific, a lot of thought has gone into each dish, and the wines selection was terrific. My only complaint would be the portion sizes.

An exceptional experience. The food was innovative and found myself enjoying food I didn’t think I liked. Wonderful spices and textures beautifully plated. Staff was as great as the food.

Intimate location, essential and very well cared for, a place where you feel pampered both by the incredibly attentive, professional and welcoming staff and by the works of the chefs, the result of innovative combinations based on raw materials of the highest quality. In the dining room we find the kitchen without any kind of barrier so we can appreciate the impeccable professionalism of the chefs, a show that keeps you company all evening. The sommelier was exhaustive in displaying the wine cellar of the restaurant and in recommending an appropriate wine according to the courses. Throughout the evening I noticed only a small but annoying problem, all the glasses had halos and light stains, which has absolutely nothing to do with cleanliness but with wear. In conclusion I thank all the staff, recommended for those who want to experience new and delicate tastes.

Greater emphasis on vegetarian and fish might not be to everybody's taste but it shouldn't stop even the more carnivorous eater to try. We tried the 5 course menu which was well worthy the price in our opinion given other similar experiences in other restaurants in London. We have read some reviews (a small minority) criticising portions (unfair) and flavours (I sense there is a slight misconception here - texture was similar but flavours were completely different and inspiring ..... unless you dont have a developed palate) and we dont agree whatsoever. Please note that the menu also changes almost on a daily basis and it is always season-driven. Service was very helpful, friendly, knowledgeable and attentive without being overwhelming. The only area where some adjustments might be considered for the broader customer base is the wine - even though, on one side, the wine list has very high quality producers (the Spanish and Italian vineyards are top notch and not easily found in other restaurants in London), the cost of a relatively small wine by the glass is very high (it might be a function also of the alcohol tax changes and Brexit but again it took us a bit aback) and there are very few options at affordable levels. Overall, a fantastic restaurant where we will go back regularly. Bravi !

Me and my other half came here for our anniversary meal and from start to finish we were so incredibly impressed. Service from all the staff was incredible and felt so welcoming and friendly and all the staff knew exactly what they were talking about. The food was simply excellent, we had the tasting menu and it was so unique and innovative. We decided against the wine pairings as we were on a budget but the sommelier was more than happy to help us with a sake pairing for our dessert, and she chose two absolutely stunning drinks. On top of all of this I selected on OpenTable that it was our anniversary but had not messaged to ask for anything special, however, we were seated in an intimate booth and at the end of our meal the chefs wrote 'Happy Anniversary' in syrup on our plates. It was such a personal and genuine touch and made the whole experience feel really special for the both of us. Simply put; I cannot recommend this restaurant enough.

Great tasting menu and pairings in a calm and elegant environment. Affordable wine list. Nothing to fault!

A la carte prices but lacking in quality and VFM. Bitterly disappointed on our anniversary dinner. Which we noted at booking but had no acknowledgment on arrival or throughout meal. What is the point in asking if it is a special occasion or not? This was the best reviewed restaurant in the area but only had 5 people in on a Saturday night which says there are limited repeat customers, if any. We really appreciate small menus when done well and usually prefer it but unfortunately the food was bland, and quality of produce was poor. The plates were warm and the food was luke warm. We mentioned our dissatisfaction politely to the staff but no chef or manger wanted to acknowledge our view. So we left unhappy and hungry paying the extortionate bill in full. The decor was simple but nice. The toilets were below par for an a la carte restaurant. The staff seemed poorly dressed and with an embarrassed demeanour. No help with sake or wine list. They all just seemed unhappy which fed into the restaurants lack of ambience. We have been to many Michelin recommended. restaurants and they have definitely got it wrong with this one. Judge for yourself although not recommended.

Excellent on every level. Great value and amazing discovery.

The bill defo helps remind you of the experience. But the numbers soon fade as your taste buds stand up and demand more! Sadly quite empty when we lunched. But 24 hours on, the flash backs are coming fast and furious. These ‘nutters’! take base ingredients which could be found in anyones veg store and do weird and wonderful things to them. Go tasting menu to open your mind. Bravo

Incredible food that was very well considered and the service was exceptional

The food was good but the menu is a bit narrow. It would be good to have some more options. The service from the food waitress was friendly, but the sommelier lady was not. Especially at the start of the meal she acted like it was an inconvenience to tell us about the cocktails and about the sake. No smile, no welcome, she just left the menus and walked off. As she was walking away we asked whether they make espresso martini and she just said "we only have the cocktails on the menu". With the simple ingredients of this cocktail (coffee, vodka and coffee liqueur), and with this being a Michelin star establishment, we expected at least that she would say something like "let me check if we can make it" instead of flatly refusing. Anyway, we enjoyed the enoki mushroom and the kimchi bread, and the desserts were very good also. But not getting good service in a Michelin star place puts a cloud on the experience and we won't be going back. Which is a pity because we live in the area.

Elegant and unpretentious atmosphere with quality food. Every dish was balanced and delicious.

One of the best / interesting meals in a while

Wonderful to find a vegan friendly restaurant (an integral part of the menu not just something the chef can do for you) We found the tasting menu full of variety and paired well with a selection of sake. The restaurant is well hidden but once inside it is a very welcoming atmosphere. Staff were superb, helpful and attentive Definitely worth a visit

Food was incredible. Lovely attentive service but not overbearing. Atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable which allowed us to really enjoy our meal. Worth every penny!

A lot of organic wine by glass! Selection is excellent also. Very authentic Japanese fusion. It was excellent. Portion for dishes is a little too small for me.

Pleasant but not worth £65 for the tasting menu. All the food was similar in flavour profiles- bit of a let down. Sadly I felt as I only ordered 2 alcoholic drinks that the waitress was not very friendly and shunned me at the end- not the service you expect from a restaurant when paying this price.

Tasting menu generally delicious (dessert course was not to our taste). The sommelier was great and wine/sake pairings were spot on throughout.

The food is simply delicious. We have been to this restaurant four times and the quality of the food is always superb. Very imaginative cooking, full of flavour- real art!

What a gem Juliana and the team have created! Very original dishes with often foraged unexpected ingredients made into a set of wonderfully balanced and very tasty dishes. We had the tasting menu with I had with the sake flight which was as surprising and wonderful as it sounds. One of our original party was not well today and was unable to join. They are vegan, and since the menu in all its richness has a special focus also on vegan food, we have the perfect excuse to be back soon. We will be fly over especially fir that from our home in Barcelona. It’s that good. You pay for that quality, and for us it was a treat worth every penny. Add to that, that the staff are wonderful and very knowledgeable and Juliana herself is a perfect (and very funny) host, and you have a great, special experience right there.

The flavours and food quality were fabulous. The service was great. Despite having dined at numerous fine dining restaurants ,we were quite disappointed with the portion sizes. There is no options for carbohydrates with your meal. So unfortunately we may get a takeaway on the route home ! Overall a good experience.

A wonderful delicious and memorable dinner! We had the tasting menu and every course was a delight! The drinks menu is stimulating and fun. Service was as impeccable as the food! We shall be back, thank you for a lovely evening!

Lovely quiet, ambient restaurant set in modern and inviting surroundings (does not feel like a basement!). Service was attentive, efficient and friendly. Food was very well presented and included nice touches like complimentary amuse bouche and a petite post-dessert finisher. The three course lunch set menu was great value (only available Fridays and Saturdays) and highly recommended. Both the Scottish salmon and the courgette starters were flavoursome and fresh, the mochi flatbread was a novel dish and the accompanying fermented butter really made it. The beef main was wonderfully tender and did not require the use of the knife! A dressed up congee was presented part way through the main which was a nice surprise - this was equally yummy. Wild plum and chocolate sorbet for dessert was a nice way to finish on the palate. Finally, the gooseberry & basil soda home made drink was unexpectedly smoother despite the vinegary smell - different but worth trying. Always enjoy an open kitchen where patrons can observe and appreciate the effort that goes in from the kitchen talent. Overall, a restaurant I would happily take family and friends, especially as the menu changes regularly, so can only imagine what other new tasty dishes they create!

Good food but on the heavier side with some very acidic sauces. No alcohol free drinks other than kombucha. Sommelier quite aloof when asked for other options.

The 5-course vegan taster menu was somewhat hit or miss; all made with great care and good ingredients, but sometimes the combinations just fell a bit short. I will say this though: at many restaurants, I leave feeling like I have tasted similar things many times before or even made it myself, but this was altogether more inventive. Great staff too. Could do with some sound dampening panels on the ceiling or something though: when we arrived, there was only soft music playing, but as the place filled up, it became hard to hear my partner who was sitting across from me. Recommended for foodies with a decent budget; perhaps not the best choice if you just need a dependable good food place.

We chose the tasting menu with pairing sake/wine. What an amazing experience! The food deserves a Michelin star in my opinion and was one of the most refined menu we have had in London. The Sommelier is superb and the pairings were excellent. Staff was extremely friendly and attentive, yet very discreet. Very modern interior with clear lines and without much fuss, also not too noisy which we really enjoyed. Cannot ask for me - we will be back! Thank you!

The 5 course tasting menu is delightful. If you’re dining with someone else, order it twice to discover ten amazing dishes. The sake pairing was brilliant and our host/sommelier provided us with all the required introduction and tasting notes for each glass of sake.

Great food great service and great ambient

We (2 people) ordered a la carte and got all three starters (baby artichokes, mochi flatbread and mushrooms) and both mains (lamb and aubergine). Here is the breakdown of what we thought: - Ingredients: 5/5. They were clearly fresh - Flavours: 2/5. The starters lacked seasoning throughout. They were extremely underwhelming and the ingredients lost some of the flavour due to how they were cooked and garnished. The mochi flatbread was burnt on one side and obviously they put it burnt side down. That was £10. A lot of “experimental” attempts there, but all failed sadly. The mains were well seasoned, the lamb cooked to perfection. - portion size: 2/5. Another disappointing fact there. When we got the mains we couldn’t believe how small the amount of food was. The aubergine main (£20) was a third of an aubergine (whole aubergine is £1 at waitrose if you want it organic, so that was 30p of value). There was barely anything else on the plate, some bland broth and some buckwheat that barely had a presence on the plate. The lamb (£46) was 4 3-inch long slices. Nothing to go with it. I’m not a chef but some celeriac pure or dauphinois potato or some greens would have complemented the plate nicely. Anything at all really, other than nothingness. We left the restaurant £150 lighter and still hungry so we went to Wagamama and got two starters each.

Our second visit to Flat Three was just as enjoyable than our first visit. We were able to enjoy the resident chef's delicious and imaginative dishes all beautifully presented. Fantastic vegan and vegetarian options. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The drinks wine offers some interesting wines and cocktails.

Excellent food, combinations and presentation. Both wine/sake and food explanations and pairings were described with a lot of passion. Excellent variety in the tasting menu including vegan options all the way. A great place for any occasion and worth coming back to as I'm sure they'll continue to bring out exciting new dishes!

In the pictures, you can see an exceptional presentation served elegantly by Catherine - a very friendly and caring waitress. What was remarkable is a beautiful combination of Asian inspired flavours and vegetables & tofu. I never tried anything like this—definitely a unique experience. Your place is a benchmark for other upscale restaurants across the world.

We had the 5 course tasting menu with the sake paring and every dish was exemplary. Credit to the chef, this is a very high standard of cuisine and the textures and flavours of each dish were perfectly balanced. Service was faultless too. We will definitely return.

We came here for my partner's 30th birthday, and honestly, it was one of the most enjoyable dining experiences either of us have ever had. The service was exceptional, and as vegetarians, it was so refreshing to have options on the taster menu. Would absolutely come back.

The venue was rather quiet, but the food was delicious

The a la carte menu was pretty uninspiring and it is clear that all the effort has gone into the 5 course set menu. There is a choice for each course and whilst most courses were both delicious and attractively presented, there is a strong bias towards dishes that are full of natural sweetness. By the time the fourth course is served, a little sharpness and acidity was desperately needed. We enjoyed the experience and would go again

Second experience at Flat Three! Always a pleasure and a lovely dining experience out of the hustle and bustle that London can be known for. Location was well catered for sanitising under current covid 19 and much care was taken to make diners feel safe.

Flat Three was a wonderful culinary experience. Not only is the service very attentive and accommodating but the food is also very unique and tasty with plenty of flavors. I brought a date to try the restaurant for the first time and we both genuinely loved it. We ordered the most tender octopus tentacle along with some flavorful shiitake mushrooms and a side of cabbage and mussels and it was delicious. Will definitely come again!

The food was lovely and fresh. The kitchen was open plan and have a really nice view and experience overall. The intimacy of flavour that the chefs created was amazing!

The overall experience was fine. We had a 5 course menu. Nothing outstanding. Some of the dishes were very similar to each other in terms of consistency or taste. 3 stars mainly for the wine tasting... Not great in terms of paring and very small amount. Not worth it. We will come back again someday but perhaps to try something a la carte.

We went for dinner last night and tried the tasting menu. None of the dishes were outstanding and I felt that they were all quite samey in the flavours. I was vegan for 10 years and felt that the vegan offerings were not satisfying compared...

Everything from the moment we arrived until the moment we left was fantastic. The staff members were pleasant, humorous, attentive and professional. They were there when we needed them and they were transparent when we wished some privacy. The food was perfect for a light exquisite dinner.
