Had a lovely Sunday dinner with a group of friends. The food was great but it's the service we'll be returning for! Special shout out to Phillip who saw to it that all our needs were met. Thank you and see you soon!

We had booked the whitewell inn down the road but were unable to park so pulled in at 1.30 on the off chance A table left Excellent service, excellent food and a great price

Lovely setting, heaters and under cover. Food and service was spot on. 👌 We all enjoyed it and good value for money.

The Restaurant's first day opening after lockdown! Our meal was up to its usual high standard - delicious and beautifully presented. It was served by the same attentive and lovely staff we have come to know over the years. Dining 'al fresco', overlooking the river, was a new experience at Gibbon Bridge and one we enjoyed very much. Thank you, see you again soon.

Visited for lunch, we pre-booked. Had three courses and coffee. The menu was varied, something for everyone. The food was excellent and the service and comfort second to none plus a roaring fire to enjoy our coffee by.Thank you Gibbon Bridge we will be back.

My family and I visited today to celebrate my Uncles birthday. The Gibbon Bridge is a very special place to me and all my family - having visited for many years. We had a family gathering here fourteen years ago with my wonderful Dad - two weeks before he passed on - so we have many special memories here. Janet and her wonderful team are amazing and work so hard to ensure their guests have a faultless experience. The food today was delicious. Cooked to perfection. The two waitresses who served us were top class. Attentive, friendly and welcoming. Thank you to all the team at the Gibbon Bridge for continuing to make our visits so special. Long may they continue.

Her who must be obeyed Mrs P, Cath & Eddie and my self decided to return to Gibbon Bridge for dinner duly arriving at 12-45 ordered our drinks studded the lunch time menu which was set starter and main or main and pudding or of course all three We decided on starters One Potted Shrimps one Deep-fried salt and Pepper Squib and two Crispy Duck Salad we all agreed excellent . The mains Crispy Roast Goosnargh Duckling, Fillet of Chicken , Fish and Chips, and a very large Wooden Platter all of which were excellent all of use went for sweets all washed down with wine. I have to say we have eaten in the summer months and the gardens are in wonderfully kept, the staff were excellent and very friendly

What a very unpleasant Sunday Lunch, the uncooked chicken was returned. we got Two potatoes ONE Roast & One Boiled cut in half, What a horrid restaurant manager when complaining he was rude and said it was my daughter's chose so there was no reason to complain , informing us that all restaurants cooked Chicken by some unpronounceable method that they used , We also got informed by the restaurant severer that the bloody veins in the returned chicken were well cooked by steaming .

The lounge and dining area were welcoming and to be expected of a superior traditional country hotel. We were still on the Christmas menu. I had salmon with a white sauce which was perfectly cooked. It was a good size portion of salmon as well. Service was ok.

been to the gibbon bridge a few times and never been disappointed today was no different the lounge with its real fire is a dream a drink before lunch so relaxing the lunch was truly superb black pudding pie to start whats not to like, cod with everything roast potatoes veg and the sauce was a dream, apple crumble with real custard then back to the fire in the loung for coffee on top of that a great team we were met by sue on arrival and later to our table for a memorable lunch again thank you,

Went to Gibbon Bridge on a Travelzoo ticket, so although we were on a "Deal" the food was fantastic. I Had the cheese Souffle, Duck Leg and Creme Brulee ate every scrap and had a lovely night. Will be going back and having the Al a Carte menu.

Returned following an amazing first visit and not disappointed. The food, service and ambiance was absolutely fabulous. We’ll be back..... again and again

We went last Sunday and took our auntie who was celebrating her 91st Birthday. She has been visiting Gibbon Bridge for over 20 years but it was the first time for myself and my husband, wow, what a beautiful venue, the restaurant and grounds are stunning and the food was first class. I can’t wait to visit again, highly recommended

The restaurant is part of the Gibbon Bridge Hotel and is open to the public. We, as a party of 6, had booked for lunch on a Monday. The setting is rather isolated but is lovely with beautiful hotel gardens.The lunch menu is a fixed price depending on the number of courses chosen - one, two or three. There was a good selection to choose from with 7 starters and eight mains (two duck dishes, one lamb, one chicken, one steak and two fish plus a vegetarian) plus two salads and the food was excellent and great value.The staff were friendly and attentive.Overall a great experience

We just celebrated my birthday here today and I have to say what a lovely end to my day that was. The food was fabulous. Decent sized portions but with lovely attention to detail. The service was great too but without being too pretentious. Will definitely be going back again very soon.

From the minute you arrive you can tell it’s staff are experienced, confident, polished, professional. You sit in the reception area & choose & place your order.

We had not been here for sometime and were looking forward to a lovely Sunday lunch but were sadly disappointed. I am not sure what has happened here with the decor but there is a mish-mash of classic and odd touches of modernity. The crazy wallpaper in the bar lounge area with matching cushions really looked out of place and the large banquette of seating opposite the bar was over the top and ugly to boot.

We did not stay at the hotel but went to the restaurant with the family. Outstanding and friendly service from the minute we walked through the doors. Absolutely beautiful terrace and gardens where we enjoyed our drinks. We had a 3 course dinner which was delicious, every course was enjoyed by everyone and the food was excellent quality, for anyone who loves chocolate I would recommend the sunken chocolate cake it was divine! Would certainly recommend the restaurant to friends and the parts of the hotel we did see were immaculate and clean. We will certainly return.

Gibbon Bridge Hotel Restaurant has a well known reputation for excellent food. It is ideally situated for exploring the Ribble Valley and Forest of Bowland. We went here for dinner and they offered outstanding experience in wonderful surroundings. The restaurant overlooks the gardens and Longridge Fell. We are planning to come back again in 2 weeks.

Excellent value for money in a relaxed environment; food quality very good. Wine selection good at reasonable prices.

Can't speak highly enough of the setting, staff or food. I think an an excellent place for a wedding reception, celebration or just a meal out.

Took lunch here with family recently. Incredible value at £18.50 for two quality Courses or £22.50 for three, in a very attractive setting in a dining roon overlooking the gardens. Great ambience and presentation. Have dined here before, for lunch and dinner, and never been disappointed. Gibbon Bridge must be one of the best restaurants in the County for location, dining experience, and overall quality.,

It's years since I've visited this restaurant which is a bit off the beaten track.

My best lunch ever. Gibbon Bridge never fails to surprise me. Excellent. The food is first class and the quality of the wonderfully maintained gardens is amazing.

We called for saturday lunch and we were really happy with the meal. Gibbon bridge is in the beautiful countryside near Chipping and is a fabulous place. The gardens alone sere worth the visit and the food was beautifully presented and very carefully cooked and the service was discreet and professional. Final bill was good value

Visited for Saturday lunch with my parents to celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary. This was our 2nd visit, having had lunch there back in January.

Using all local ingredients beautifully cooked under the watchful eye of Janet the owner, with beautiful gardens this restaurant is an absolute gem and well worth a visit

It is always a splendid occasion to visit The Gibbon Bridge Hotel, superb memories are revived on each occasion. and her staff never fail. Everything is of the highest standard. Attention to detail is paramount and Janet ensures that everything is superb.

Our son is at university in Preston, we were recommended this restaurant by a neighbour in Halifax. We all had two courses for £18.50, starter & main for us all. I could have chosen more than one dish for each course but finally decided on fish cake with a poached egg & the chicken stuffed with mushroom & linguine. Both were superb.

Went for lunch on Valentines Day with my wife, and was struck by the difference between pubs which cater like food factories, and a high quality establishment with food and service to match.

We really enjoyed our Christmas lunch at the Gibbon Bridge - it was such a special occasion and we couldn't fault anything- the food, service, ambiance all 10 out of 10.

I was asked to dress this venue for a wedding and the staff advised us to remove their chair covers and then put ours on. We did so but on return to collect the following day we was lectured from the most rudest person I have ever met! She went on telling us we should never have taken them off and it took her all night to put back on. Never in my life have we been spoken too like that and will be advising all my brides not to book with them. Disgusted that she spoke to us like she did.

Two incredibly rude members of staff - one is a restaurant manager. Had a set booking time, arrived 10 mins late due to a fall. Spoken down to like a child for not arriving at the 8pm pre-booked sitting. Also very unsympathetic with the circumstances. We were told the chef was leaving in 5 mins so would not been serving us. Very disappointed as it was a 70th pre-planned birthday meal so went elsewhere.

My wife and I had lunch on a monday, being half term I booked because I thought it might be busy, it wasn't with just one other couple in.

Took dinner here with my wife. Lovely restaurant, with top notch table settings and seating. Excellent service. Great ambience. My wife had scallops followed by duck (which she declared the best she had ever tasted) and I had mushroom soup followed by hake, which was beautifully presented - and superbly cooked. A half bottle of wine complemented the whole experience. Finished the meal with coffees. Service charge at diner's discretion, which is, in my opinion, the right way to deal with it. Can fully recommend, and will certainly be back.

Het eten wordt mooi geserveerd en de bediening is vriendelijk en netjes. Er staat een karaf water op tafel, ook werden er een aantal broodjes geserveerd vooraf - heel compleet. Zeker een aanrader!

The only problem is the signposting to Gibbon Bridge - you can easily miss the entrance. Once in though the place is delightful, there is a very large car park through the archway. The Restaurant is well set out with an area to relax as you arrive complete with bar area. The whole place is very welcoming and very relaxing. There is even a lovely garden to walk off the lunch afterwards.

Visited this restaurant with my husband and my 90 yr old Father. Set in the countryside just outside of chipping village. Parking appeared ample and was able to drop my Father off at front of restaurant due to his poor mobility. There is a lounge area where you can have a drink prior to meal. The bar is well stocked with various drinks. The restaurant is inviting and comfortable. Staff are very professional courteous and attentive.. The 2 course meal for £18 was excellent with a varied choice on menu. . All food was professionally prepared. I adore custard tart and I can honestly say that the custard tart I ordered was the best I have ever tasted. Its made with duck eggs. It was a beautiful day and we had our coffees on the spacious patio. The gardens and scenery at the back of the hotel is spectacular. We had a very pleasant afternoon. Think it will be a long time before I find anywhere else that could be better than Gibbon Bridge

Visited the restaurant for the first time today with my daughter on a day out in the forest of Bowland.The lunch was exquisite, friendly and professional service, beautiful gardens to stroll through and very reasonably priced for a 3 course lunch of such quality. I don't know why I haven't found this restaurant before but will certainly be back to sample the food and gorgeous surroundings again. Well done for achieving a perfect menu.

On arrival for the afternoon tea I had booked, I had to request a last minute major change to the arrangement. The lady at reception was very helpful and understanding and sorted it out with no fuss whatsoever. Everything went very smoothly, the other staff we came into contact with knew all about the change. Afternoon tea was very good in a beautiful room with a gentleman playing the grand piano and also a soloist, really enjoyable. From the room (the orangery?) you can see the gardens, which are extensive and really lovely. The sun was shining, which always helps, but it was a very nice way of spending the afternoon.

22 of us came here for my special birthday lunch. It was just perfect. The setting and the grounds were a delight. The food was delicious, everyone had different dishes and all were beautifully presented. A Toddler and baby were well catered for. I highly recommend this hotel and restaurant.

We enjoyed everything we’d had from the menu over our thre night stay. Breakfast is thankfully not full on; for us, this is a plus.

A delightful tour of the beautiful main garden and also the working vegetable gardens, behind the scenes. Followed by delicious two course lunch and a gardeners' question and answer session.

Came here with friends for a meal one evening. I had the 3 course £25 menu and the food was lovely. The cheese soufflé was very pleasant. I enjoyed the steak and chocolate cake also.

2 course deal and wonderful food, portions were good and lovely easy meal with relaxed great service. A great evening.

Thank you to you all for another wonderful experience at Gibbon Bridge. My husband's birthday lunch with our friends was perfect in every way. We all enjoyed our meal (I had salmon, the other 3 the duck) and the service was friendly and helpful as always - delightful staff who we feel we 'know' having been there so often over the years. A lovely relaxed lunch in beautiful surroundings, topped off by coffee in front of the roaring fire in the lounge. We were very reluctant to leave and already looking forward to our next visit.

This is the first time I have written a review of anywhere I have eaten. I have to say the whole experience at Gibbon bridge was faultless, from the time we entered the restaurant to leaving. I could not believe how inexpensive it was for such lovely and beautifully cooked food, lovely lounge, a great pint, and a dining area second to none. Unfortunately we live over 40 mins away which is a pity as we would eat there on a regular basis. It has inspired me to book into the hotel at soon as we are able. All I can say is do yourself a favour and and dine at Gibbon Bridge. You will not be disappointed.

We had two dinners, both of which were delicious. In particular I enjoyed the cheese souffle starter and mushroom tarte tatin. Service is spot on.

The whole environment was a delight - well run establishment, very pleasant owner took our orders, excellent lunch - three course meal - I chose pheasant which I can recommend. Efficient staff. Christmas decorations and separate winter scene with white piano a delight. Beautiful country setting even in winter.

We've had many meals here. It's faultless, especially in spring and summer when the Gardens are in blue. Our favourite, then the drive home through The Trough of Bowl and back to Harrogate.

Visited the restaurant with friends who were celebrating their Golden Wedding. The welcome, service and the quality of the food were excellent. We really enjoyed the experience. The staff were very well trained showing great attention to detail. A lady with short blonde hair was particularly good, obviously she had been very trained.

We went to this hotel for a celebration joint birthday meal. The weather was cold and wet so we asked if we could transfer to indoors and they said no even though it wasn't busy.

Amazing food and wine - portions just right and wine was chosen for us. Felt very special! I'm not a foodie but every course was fantastic and just enough. Just perfect.

Visited this lovely building with 4 friends for lunch, sumptuous dining room with fabulous views on the garden.The food was delicious and beautifully presented by attentive staff.I had cheese souffle, goosnargh duck and hazelnut meringue and enjoyed every mouthful.Would highly recommend and will visit again.

Relaxing family lunch in a beautiful setting. Special lunch menu - great value. Beautifully presented food; attentive staff; all three courses were delicious. Great gardens for enjoying a coffee afterwards or a short walk; weather permitting. Happy to make alternative dishes for the children.We will be back!

This was a present for my husbands birthday from his boss. We booked the day before and the gentleman who answered was very nice and polite. We arrived to spectacular views of the gardens. We sat outside and had a drink in the sunshine.We were approached by a gentleman smartly dressed with menus. He left us with the menus and then came back about half an hour later to take our order. The meal was absolutely fantastic! The fish cakes were fabulous and the duckling was wonderful. The waiter and waitress were brilliant and did their job marvellous. The whole experience was lovely and we deffinately be back.

Service was good and the staff were polite and helpful. We found the tomato soup was had the strongest tomato tasting soup we had eaten. The Main course we had hake and because my wife was allergic to cream and didn't like chili sauce she had to eat it without sauce. A cheese sauce should be available in these circumstances. We enjoyed the meal and thought the roast potato was the best we had tasted. We thought the main course potion was smaller than last time we visited and not worth the money. The choice of desserts has gone down from originally about eight to four and now to just one. We opted to just have a larger portion of the sticky toffee pudding and they specially make custard for my wife. She thought the pudding was a bit lacking in taste probably because we like with dates in but it was nice and soft and I enjoyed it. We had the impression from the menu that you had to have the coffee even if you didn't want it.

Went with family and friend for their special musical afternoon tea. There was a very warm welcome and we were seated straightaway. It was a lovely afternoon and the view from the restaurant to their gardens and distant fells was superb. Staff were friendly and kept the tea topped up. The sandwiches were very tasty, as were the cakes, scones and panna cotta. The pianist played throughout the afternoon - lovely music and not intrusive. My only niggle, and this was personal taste, was that all of the cakes were quite sweet and it would have been nice to have something a little more tangy. Will definitely return.

We had lunch as a member of our pensioners club in superb surroundings. The roast lamb was cooked to perfection and a respectable portions as well, as were the vegetables. Hotels rarely serve golden crispy, yet melt in the mouth roast potatoes that were spot on. Forty of us were looked after by top class, friendly and very efficient staff from start to finish. The faultless and generous desserts were followed by plenty of tea or coffee and we were told to stay awhile and enjoy the beautiful gardens before we left.Well done and we will be back

Dinner for two at Gibbon Bridge to celebrate a birthday, completed with an overnight stay. Perfect in every way, as always. Food excellent and staff attentive - discreet but friendly. Looking forward to a musical afternoon tea there very soon.

Excellent food served beautifully. We recommend the crispy duck, fillet steak in black treacle, rib-eye steak, in fact, anything on the menu.

We called in for lunch without having booked and we are very glad they could fit us in because the setting, the food and the service were all first class. Professional but friendly, traditional Lancashire hospitality and it was an added bonus to be greeted by the owner personally.

Dinner over 2 consecutive nights, the menu was extensive, catering for all tastes. Whether fish, meat or vegetarian.Not only was the food very good, the staff were very good too, able to advise when asked about any dishPlus there is the plush surroundings, especially mentioning the comfy armchairs and sofas facing the huge open fire in the bar where we had a pre dinner drink as we made our choices from the menu, and finished with our coffee

Stopped by for a drink whilst on a nice walk. It didn't look busy and we were in walking gear. Was told it was 'formal' only and turned down even when we offered to sit outside. What kind of country hotel can't accommodate a couple of walkers???

We have been visiting the Gibbon Bridge for years and have seen many changes. The hotel has been developed and improved. I love the roaring log fire in the lounge where we sit to have pre-dinner drinks and to order our food.There is a good selection of lunch time dishes. The slow cooked duckling is a favourite with us. We enjoyed lunch on Valentine's Day and the single red roses on all the tables was a romantic touch. The setting of the hotel is quite simply superb and great attention is paid to maintaining the lovely gardens. This is a very popular venue for weddings. The black pudding starter is even appreciated by me and I am not really a fan of it. The belly pork starter was not as tasty. We both commented that the portion size of the main course seems to have been reduced. The deserts were very good. I do wish that the excellent home made bread was brought to the table warm. It would be so much more enjoyable. I also wish that the shortbread was made with butter as it makes such a difference to the taste. We were able to use a £5.00 off voucher so the three course meal for two came to £39.00. I believe that £19.50 each is acceptable for a mid-week 3 course meal in such a lovely setting. The Gibbon Bridge has an air of romance about it and I would certainly recommend the lunch, especially on a beautiful day when you can also enjoy the gardens.

Excellent food, good choice, complemented by good wines, and topped of with friendly staff. The bar area for coffee after meals is lovely - especially when it is nippy and the fire is going!

Having read through the other reviews of Gibbon Bridge Hotel Restaurant, I was genuinely confused because our experience bore little or no resemblance. We were a party of three (two adults and a child) for lunch to celebrate our anniversary. The reception area of the restaurant is very welcoming with a lovely Maitre D', comfy sofas and open fire. The restaurant itself is expansive, and at a busy service (Sunday Lunch) it was very noisy - reminiscent of the echoey noise in a swimming pool - so the atmosphere hardly served as intimate. Our food was very disappointing; the only strong point to our lunch was the roast meat, the vegetables were over-cooked (the one roast potato on our plates and the Yorkshire puddings tasted like they had been sat on the pass for longer than they should have been). Based on our general disappointment, we skipped dessert and asked for our bill. 2 courses each, a bottle of fairly good white (which we hadn't finished so asked to be sealed for taking home) and a couple of soft drinks came to £130!!! You pay for what you get, and a great lunch is worth every penny, but this was a mediocre lunch at best. Their price is on a par with what we have willingly paid for lunch at other restaurants in our locality - The Bay Horse Inn, at Bay Horse, and The Inn at Whitewell - yet Gibbon Bridge falls way short of its rivals in both standard of food and service.

The food is wonderful - they are famed for their twice baked cheese soufflé and roast duck. Not to be missed. Service perfect.

Went with friends for Christmas Lunch at our favourite restaurant in the a Ribble Valley. It was a beautiful day travelling over Jeffrey Hill looking down on Chipping and Gibbon Bridge in all its splendour. Then followed by a delicious lunch with excellent wine and service. The Hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas and it always exudes a homely feeling!

Superb 3 course Christmas Dinner consisting of soup/turkey and Christmas pudding.Excellent meal, reasonably priced in beautiful surroundings.... What more can I say.

Met some friends her for lunch. The hotel is rather tucked away but very pleasant once you have wound your way along the country lanes.There was quite a good choice on the menu but three of us chose the cheese soufflé for starters. It was tasty enough but a little on the heavy side. The other friend had the special of avocado with prawns and said it was very good.Again for mains three chose the salmon special. It did not seem to be that special. There seemed to be one roast potato served with it but side dishes of red cabbage, boiled potatoes and carrots were also served. I chose the chicken. This was moist and serve on linguini with a tomato sauce. It was fine but nothing to rave about. For dessert two chose the hazelnut meringue and another the chocolate fudge cake. The meringue was chewy and whilst this is not a complaint it meant it was difficult to cut.So overall the food was OK but not special. The service was good, polite, efficient and they did not rush us and we lingered for a long time as it was the opportunity of a good catch up.

Without booking I called with an elderly friend hoping I could treat her to afternoon tea at this lovely venue. We were very warmly welcomed and invited into a lovely lounge area with open log fire and very comfy settees. The very kind (Italian?) waiter brought our tea and coffee served in silver tea and coffee pots with cold and hot milk and home made biscuit. All for £6.00 +.! I wish to commend the staff and Janet for the inspiration and development of this very beautiful place of hospitality. It made an elderly lady very happy at a difficult time. Thank you

Used restaurant, as staying at the hotel. The food was excellent. We had a lovely evening meal and the waiting staff were excellent. Breakfast the following was without a doubt one of the best hotel breakfasts we have ever had.

It had been a few years since our last stay here and we were really looking forward to it. The menu is varied though not huge and all beautifully cooked and presented. Unfortunately there was no room for afters, too full! I had a starter which is unusual for me, but they sounded so appetising. I plumped for the mackerel and it was so moist and delicious, my husband tried the goats cheese and he was very pleasantly surprised! The steak he ordered had a supplement and he thought it a tad more medium than rare, but it looked rare to me, was very tasty though. As quail was on the menu and something I had never tried before I thought I'd give it a whirl, wow, it was delicious. All fresh seasonal vegetables too. We went for a bottle of Primitivo wine and it was so smooth, probably worked out cheaper than having a couple of glasses each! Drinks are always expensive in hotels so you have to take that into consideration. Waiting staff were polite and friendly and fairly unobtrusive, well done. Breakfast was a buffet style with fruit, cereals, yogurt and full English to choose from. A nice personal approach by the owner as she came to have a chat and see that our food was okay. A downside to the evening was the room was very hot, even with the window open and heater off I didn't sleep well. Walls between rooms not very thick, next door someone was coughing and as my husband snores loudly, they probably heard him! Bed was comfortable and rooms clean. A crack in the ceiling near extractor fan in the bathroom needed attention, but maintenance is difficult with guests in. Would defiantly go back when we have saved up again, it's such a beautiful part of the country, especially with the leaves turning at this time of year. If you get the chance, pay a visit, I don't think you'd be disappointed.

We ate here in July and were so impressed we returned with American guests to enjoy a little of English "country house" ambience and cuisine. The whole thing is just so professional yet seems so laid back. A lovely lounge for pre-dinner drinks and post dinner coffees. Wonderful food and excellent table service. Beautiful gardens for a stroll (on the right day!). You really need to book in advance and they open only for strictly limited hours. The menu is not extensive but there's bound to be something you'll enjoy. Good wine list and full bar service without breaking the bank.Couldn't fault it!

Was treat to a wonderful birthday present at this Hotel and Restaurant. The evening dinner was excellent. The food was perfect in every way. Staff were attentive, polite and nothing was too much trouble. I would certainly recommend this venue to eat and for very special occasions. Loved the whole experience.

Visited Gibbon Bridge many times usually for lunch takes us about 1hr from Blackpool Food is amazing all locally sourced produce skilfully cooked and presented The building and grounds are stunning Never had a bad meal yet would recommend to anybody for that special occasion Prices very reasonable and not over the top. Love the place

Never been before, we were met and greeted by Sue and relaxed in the lounge pre-lunchthe menu arrived and once we had chosen were shown to our table overlooking the beautiful gardens lunch was sublime and the best Black pudding i have ever tasted in a phyllo pastry well worth the trip on its own and the beef could not have been bettered all our meal arrived slick and professional via Aggi the 64,000 dollar question will we go again thats a big fat yes from me then.

Tucked away up in the Ribble valley this place is quite lovely. Wonderful food, lovely staff and well kept real ale.

We enjoyed an excellent dinner here, as a party of four, in late August. After a relaxing drink in the comfortable bar area, we enjoyed an excellent meal in the equally comfortable dining area, with views over the garden.The food was very good - fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented, and all the staff we encountered were very professional, friendly and efficient.The menu choices were varied and appealing - it was difficult to choose!There is plentiful free parking in the hotel grounds.Although our friends had been here a number of times it was our first visit - we hope it will be the first of many.

Twice a year for 15 years must be a good guide, you need sat ab to get there well worth the trip through super country.The restaurant is real quality with exceptional garden views, walking through after a good meal.We enjoyed the duck and lamb shank but I think the choice is becoming restricted and the veg are possibly boring. Ee. So this is a good choice.

This is a hotel we go to every year, in May usually. My father has been going for about 30 years and has watched it grow and improve to the high standard it is today. My sister and I have been going for around 15 years. Beautiful gardens and the food is excellent. Great place for a wedding if you live in the vicinity. My only criticism would be that although the rooms are very comfortable they could do with updating.

Eating in the 'pods' situated around the gardens of this hotel was a novelty of a little cold. Good job the spaces were equipped with heaters and covering. The tasting menu started off well with an array do freshly baked breads and a choice of seafood or melon starter both of which were well presented and pleasant. Sadly from then on the presentation, preparation and palatability of the food declined. Large portions of dry meat were laid on tables for those present to 'taste' however after he 5th meat course this became over facing with one group choosing to skip an entire course due to feeling engorged. A more varied range of foods such as fish and salads even cheeses or perhaps much smaller platters would have helped improve this meal.Service was good but not great. Overall over priced and disappointing after reading such great culinary reviews before our visit.

It's so worth finding this beautiful Ribble Valley gem.Exceptional food in exceptional surroundings and at exceptionally reasonable prices too. Service is steeped in luxury and tradition and it's clear some staff have worked there for years. Atmosphere is very English; an elegant, comfortable country house style. Pick a nice day to enjoy the beautiful gardens to the rear of the hotel and restaurant.We visited for Sunday lunch and although the menu was limited, we still struggled to make a final choice. They obviously know how to devise a popular menu! Opening hours are limited and the place is sufficiently popular to make booking highly advisable.Would we return? undoubtedly! Already working on it.

Our first visit, a friend and I called in for lunch just recently. New to the restaurant, we pondered over the menu for some time before my friend chose from a rather limited vegetarian selection and I decided on a duck hash brown starter followed by a crispy duck main course. My choice, accompanied by a rather disparaging look, was clearly not approved of by the person taking our order "two lots of duck is a bit much". I reiterated that, yes, I would please like both courses of duck! Her next piece of unasked for advice was "if you're on a budget it might be best to...". Whatever led her to believe we were on a budget, Ive no idea. In our early 50's we were younger than most in the restaurant, perhaps it was the fact we took some time to choose from the menus available, perhaps because we were drinking sparkling water rather than alcohol or perhaps it was because we requested to be billed separately. For whatever reason, her assumption was very impolite. Whilst very friendly and familiar with a number of diners who were quite obviously regulars, we felt this courtesy wasn't extended to us and it's for this reason we shan't return. The hotel sits in a beautiful area, surrounded by enchanting gardens. The food was delicious, although consisted of smaller than average portions, and we both enjoyed what we ate. Still, this couldn't make up for the somewhat starchy attitude we encountered. Having a passion for good food, regularly eating in many fine dining establishments the world over, we've never been been approached in quite as condescending a manner. Shame really. It most definitely tainted our experience on the day.

Booked Sunday lunch at The Gibbon Bridge as an early birthday family meal. Had visited previously and enjoyed so hoped that the return visit would live up to our expectations. Staff friendly and attentive without being pushy, gorgeous food very nice portion sizes and lovely atmosphere. Would definitely recommend and look forward to being able to return again.

There was a party of 12 of us for Sunday lunch. It was a celebration, the food was superb, setting fantastic and the staff amazing (as usual!) 6 of the party were new to the venue, they are still talikng about it a month later and planning their next visit.

A wonderful hotel and restaurant. A splendid choice on the luncheon menu, very enjoyable. Reasonably price, beautiful dining room and area. Gorgeous gardens to view, excellent service and presentation, pleasant and helpful staff. Roaring fire and lovely leather seating area, great on the cold day when we went there. Definitely to be recommended. Spectacular for a wedding reception.

The event was an Afternoon Tea with musical accompaniment i.e. a pianist.We arrived early and bar staff made us welcome, directed us to comfortable seating where we were served drinks. As the time approached we were led into the Orangerie just off the main restaurant. Here we were served with our afternoon tea, along with about 30 other guests, whilst the pianist played a selection of well known songs.The food was excellent , the staff attentive, the Hotel gardens are lovely. Altogether a very pleasant afternoon,

Visited restaurant for Sunday lunch with two friends - their recommendation and our first visit. Standard of service, quality of food and surroundings just excellent. Beautifully place - ideal for weddings, the outdoor facilities are wonderful.I can't praise this restaurant highly enough - one of the best if not the best place I've visited.It is slightly out of the way but well worth the journey.

We have not visited for about 9 years and chose the tenth anniversary of our wedding here to have lunch.So different to other venues. Here you are treated as a valued customer with properly laid tables with fresh flowers and smartly attired waiting staff. Nothing too much trouble and a delicious menu to choose from.Surrounded by other diners who had taken the trouble to dress appropriately made the experience like a top London location.My soup with broccoli and toasted almonds with bread from their own artisan bakery was superb. The ham hock terrine a real treat for my partner.The mains, a Beef Butty and a Veggie Sarny were a really tasty surprise with a huge plateful of lots of hand cut chips.We cannot wait to return to sample the same level of service we received on our special day ten years ago.Many thanks Gibbon Bridge
