Visited the gardeners back in 2018 I think it was and it has only got better!!!I was staying next door while visiting family back then and found the gardeners to be amazing. With now been able to finally see the family again I thought I would have a bite at the gardeners again, and I am so glad I did. Attentive staff, covid safe, and fantastic food! I did get told about their sister pub, great food too and different menu so may have to go sample that too before going back home. We all enjoyed our visit, it was lovely to see you all again, will definitely pop back in when I'm next here.

Had a fantastic lunch It was a very very busy lunch but they managed to fit us in The staff are very helpful & attentive Food was superb fresh home cooked food These stsff are I working in a funny time, so many Covid restrictions but still very helpful& professional Some of these stsff are getting abused For abiding by the rules , and some customers being very rude to them Keep up the good work & your very good Covid standards and we look forward to coming back soon

So I have visited with friends and the waitressing staff and bar staff are fabulous and they work really hard and deserve a pay rise!! They were run off their feet and made it a great time and we were always attended to and the table was cleared and we never waited long for more drinks it was lovely.

The best of warm welcomes greater us and quickly shown to a table , drinks order taken and arrived. Food was great with a very attentive waitress and all round good atmosphere. We will defiantly be going back again soon.

Visited this afternoon and we were welcome warmly and shown to our table by the staff. Also asked if we were happy with were we were sat which was nice. The wait for the food was fine and when it arrived the quality was superb! All homemade and presented well. I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone and will certainly be back and maybe squeeze a pudding in next time....

After reading the negative comments, I felt I had to leave a review of my own. It seems some people just like to moan and be rude. It's a busy restaurant and mistakes are human error but I found all staff to be nothing but polite and very wiling to rectify any mistakes.I turned up without booking on a Sunday lunch time and was immediately given a table. My dad is vegetarian and usually sticks to fish and chips but he tried the halloumi and absolutely loved it. I chose the carvery and was initially disappointed that the veg were cooked in butter as I am allergic to cow's milk. However, I was able to get meat, roast potatoes, roast parsnips and stuffing (which did not contain butter and was gorgeous) and staff brought me my own bowl of steamed veg. (I'm yet to find a restaurant that makes vegan Yorkshire puddings). My meal was lovely. My mum equally enjoyed her carvery and my daughter enjoyed the fish and chips she got. I think we all had food on the table within 15-20 minutes of arriving. We were told when to go for our carveries to time it with the non carvery meals arriving so that we could all eat at the same time. We were far too full to try any desserts so can't comment there. The first thing my dad said when we got into the car was "We'll have to eat there again, I really enjoyed that".

Wednesday, 22nd January. My friend and I really enjoyed our steak pies and delicious homemade puddings. Coffee excellent also.First class service from the young woman whose name I've forgotten but is a real asset to this pub. Superb quality food, a warm welcome and good value.

Gardner’s Country Inn is one of our favourites, food always great quality and well presented, and of course most importantly, very tasty. I would recommend this venue for any occasion, be it a special celebration or just out for dinner.

Picked this place after looking at the menu online , my son is a vegetarian and had been out of the uk for 6 months and wanted to vist somewhere that served fresh food and not a chain , we where not disappointedFrom walking in to leaving all the staff where very polite and welcoming, the food was exceptional and all freshly cooked with good portion sizes plus a nice selection of vegetarian options . Even had non alcoholic heineken on draught . All in all a great night and was a great way to celebrate my sons first meal meal back in the uk . We will definitely return and would recommend to family and friends .

My family and i came for Christmas Dinner here, i can not fault them at all. Dinner was lovely, so well organised, a very stress free day. Staff were superb and were always available to hand when needed could not recommend enough. Drinks were always flowing and never waited anymore than 2 minutes for any service. Will definitely be coming back next year, best we have had. Amazing job well done.

We visited as a large family group on Boxing Day. The service ran like a well oiled machine with Kelly at the controls. All courses were delivered promptly and with nobody waiting for food. Portion sizes were very generous. I had lasagne and it was as good as the best I've tasted anywhere. Several of our party had the fish and chips - these were huge and very well received. Despite staff working on a day when most are on holiday, they did so efficiently and with a smile on their faces.In summary, our experience was of excellent staff providing great service of quality food at a value for money price.

Our village pub where we usually go for a quick steaK was maxed out with meals and we were told there would be a wait of at least 45 minutes which I appreciated. We were in a relative hurry so we went just down the road to the Gardener's Country Inn. It was fairly quiet and we got a cosy table in the conservatory next to a radiator as it was a cold night. The waitress could have not been more helpful and obliging. I had a pint of real Ale and my wife had a small Guinness as appetisers. My wife had a steak with a mushroom and garlic sauce which she said was absolutely delicious and I had the home made steak pie with extra gravy. That too was delicious, I would not have thought it possible to have got that much meat into a single pie. Highly recommended.

Went to the Gardeners Country Inn on Saturday to see a Queen tribute band and it was amazing!This is a superb place, from the moment we arrived the staff made us feel welcome with their friendly chat and prompt service, the function room was beautifully laid out with its own bar, our table was at the front (a little too close to the speakers) but what a great night we had.The food was terrific from the well presented soup with warm bread rolls, to the mains with thick pieces of turkey with nice crunchy vegetables enormous Yorkshire pudding and lashings of gravy to the awesome cheesecake, service was prompt and very professional the staff were really attentive.The band were superb, they banged out the songs, got everyone involved and up off their chairs the whole place was buzzing all through the night.It was a well organised event from Kelly and the team and I want to give them all a massive thank you for making the whole night really enjoyable.

Just tried the the home made cornflake tart to round off a lovely meal and wow takes me back to school dinners and my favourite cornflake tart. Ensure you leave space for this one.

We went here for birthday meal. There were 18 of us and once we were all seated and settled our food was brought out. It was hot and delicious and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were very helpful and couldn't do enough. There was hardly any waiting between courses and a good time was had by all!

WOW where do I start , sunday lunch with my beautiful family and AMAZING food . Sunday carvery was beautiful , all vegetables was seasoned beautiful. And the meats tasted really good. All staff was brilliant always.

A group of 9 of us booked a birthday celebration for my husband. The customer service was excellent. The food was delicious and tasty. We all chose different meals off the menu. The atmosphere was relaxing - we were in the conservatory area, as we usually request this part, when we visit. We have been on numerous occasions and have always been highly satisfied. Plenty of options for meal choice as well as the ‘specials’ on the board.I would definitely recommend this place .We are made welcome every time. Thank you for a pleasurable evening.

Our first visit here in some time and we were not disappointed. We both chose to have the roast beef from the carvery and the food was excellent. Tender beef and hot fresh vegetables and a good red wine! We shall be back!

My husband and I visited today and we both had the 2 course lunch menu and it was excellent. My husband had Soup to start with and I had Bubble and Squeek, then main courses we had Fish, Chips and Mushy Peas and Pattie, Chips and Mushy Peas and both meals were delicious and at £8.95 per person made it even better. We sat in the conservatory and it was raining outside but lovely and warm inside. Along with the meals we had Birra Morretti our favourite lager. We love everything about this place and the staff are very professional but at the same time make you very welcome. If you have never been you dont know what you are missing so my advice is go and try it and I can assure you you will not be disappointed.

This restaurant used to be an excellent country pub with a nice pub feel. Now it has sadly lost the homely country feel especially the conservatry which can only be described as being furnished like a premier inn. 2 fish and chips for lunch for us on our way back from sea side, the food was ok but definitely not fresh home made chips as stated on the menu.

Visited here last night as a party of 14 and the staff was brilliant. Apologies I didn’t get all the names of the ladies, a dark haired lady and I believe the other called Jamie..big thank you! Food was delicious compliments to the chef. Everything home made, I chose the Hull Pattie for starter and Hunters chicken for the main. The portions are huge so unfortunately I couldn’t finish it all! The meal was for a 13th birthday and when the two waitresses brought the cake out they even sang Happy birthday and couldn’t do enough for us. See you again soon.

Been here a few times, keep coming back as food is always delicious & staff are lovely & friendly. I had fake fish & chips today, batter was light and crisp, partner had the pork & said it was gorgeous, my Mum had hunters chicken which she enjoyed. The key lime pie was beautiful, as was the vanilla cheesecake & bread & butter pudding (we all tried a bit of each others). Prices are always reasonable, our bill including drinks came to just over £50 which I think is great, it was all cooked fresh. Compliments to Rob the chef for a delicious meal & to Natasha & Chelsea who looked after us during our visit, attentive without being intrusive, & really friendly, cheerful & helpful. Oh and the decor is wonderful I love it! Looking forward to our next visit. Thank You!

Ordered surf & turf off specials board. Meal was ok but had to use saucer from my coffee cup to put prawn shells on. Would be nice to have a wipe to clean our hands after peeling prawns. Staff very nice.

Do not go here if you fancy a decent steak as we were very disappointed when we stopped off for tea on Saturday 21st Sept. The staff are very friendly and we enjoyed our drinks but those were the only positives. We asked for medium cooked steaks and they were both very tough and were served with one small mushroom and half a grilled tomato with huge chips. We waited 45 minutes for our meals to arrive and noticed how dirty the walls were as we were seated in the conservatory under the Specials board, nobody came back to ask if everything was ok until we had finished and only because we hadn't eaten it all. I had an 8oz sirloin which was really chewy as it was overcooked and cost £14.50 and my partner had a 16oz rump which cost £18.50 and it was like rubber. We were offered another meal but didn't want to wait another 45 mins and told the waitress we wouldn't come back. She said she was going to tell the chef but she didn't get back to us and when we left we paid the bill in full at the bar even though when asked by the waitress if everything was ok we told her it was awful, she simply said she was sorry. If you are going to charge decent prices then you should serve decent food. We haven't been here for over 20 years and certainly won't be going back anymore

Absolutely amazing food amazing service, the wife had chicken burger the kids had chicken wraps and I had belly pork which was cooked to perfection can't recommend this place enough will definitely be returning

We had about an hour to wait to be picked up to be taken to a wedding and felt a little peckish. We looked through the menu and saw that sandwiches were served which would suit us nicely as we didn't have much time. I was tempted by the Hull Fish Shop special!

Had previously been a couple of weeks before for a bar meal and it was excellent so decided to try Sunday lunch and it was awful. When we walked in and saw all the foil over the food it should have been a warning sign that the food wasn't fresh. The carvery was tucked away in a corner of the pub which was very cramped. The chef used the same carving knife for all of the meats . The veg and potatoes looked like they had been stood for ages and tasted the same.for the price we paid i expected to get a better quality of veg than frozen peas and sweencorn the parsnips were shrivelled up.the gravy wasn't very hot. The service was good and the staff were friendly. There were hardly any desserts left so we couldn't have one. I'm really sorry but this was a massive disappointment from my last visit.

we had planned to go to Papas on good friday but could not get in the place so we defaulted to the gardeners and what a plus. we had friends up from London and normally check places out before we take them but this was a default visit - could not have been happier - the pie was one of the best i have had and all four meals were faultless - the staff were excellent and they stopped and chatted at the end of the meal until it was time to go - we will be back

Came here to celebrate my dad's birthday. It's an upmarket pub based within a quiet, peaceful location. The inside of the restaurant is lovely, it's very cosy and the staff are friendly.

Had a lovely meal this evening with friends. One of the party was a vegetarian and it was refreshing to have a number of dishes to choose from (as opposed to just having the meat taken out of standard dishes). Rump steak was cooked exactly as ordered and the bits that came with it were delicious, especially the rocket with Parmesan...I usually hate the salad garnish! Staff were friendly and inviting. Great food, excellent service and good value for money, will definitely be returning.

Visited a week after Mother’s Day as a late celebration. The table was booked for 7 of us but when we got there they had no record of it. They tried to fit us all around a tiny table which was impossible, so was then asked if we could sit at 2 separate tables. Eventually they found us something suitable. Visited this afternoon with my family and can honestly say although the place was extremely busy all staff was polite and made us feel extremely welcoming. We all enjoyed the carvery and will not hesitate on returning in the near future to taste what else the menu offers.

A great afternoon with great food from a varied menu. A really warm welcome and the staff are brilliant particularly Emma who is a star. The chilli eating contest was a blast with Emma. Cannot wait to return.

We booked a table for 15 of us, for mother’s day. Shaun & Helen who run the Establishment put us all in the fiction room with the wife’s family and made the day extra special for us all. Emma the bar manageress, who by the way was worked off her feet as all the staff were yesterday as it was so busy.

Very friendly host amazing food not just a bog standard flaming grill some thought goes into the menu, staff have always been accommodating and always great us with a smile, my son had his 1st birthday celebration here where they catered for 100 people and they couldnt be more helpful, I will always choose here for great food with friends and family.

Home made food at its best. Served by very friendly staff. We popped here for Sunday lunch and were not disappointed. The chicken melts in your mouth and the vegetables were spot on. I would recommend a visit and taste the changes.

Not visited since the new management, was cautious at first but I'm glad to say they've done a wonderful job of the place. Firstly, the food is to die for, myself ordering a rare 8oz steak, which was cooked to perfection and a very generous portion. My partner had the steak pie which was just as divine as mine. Next were desserts and what an array there was. I had the baileys, banana and chocolate bread and butter pudding!! It was like nothing I've ever tasted, I'll definitely be back for that one.

Visited here with my dad for lunch during the week. Hadn't been in years but the pub is decorated amazingly and very homely with open fires etc. Food was exceptional, I had the Goliath burger which was huge (but still managed to eat it all as it was amazing), my dad had a steak sandwich which looked equally as impressive and there was so much on the menu I could have chosen and hopefully will in future. Staff were very friendly and helpful and I'm sure nothing would be too much trouble for them if I asked. Would definitely recommend to anyone! Go see for yourself.

We have visited this pub a lot over the last 5 years and have always come away having really enjoyed our food. Unfortunately over the last few months things have changed. It’s now run by the same people who have the Cammerton. We decided to give them the benefit of doubt in the beginning thinking the food would get better but unfortunately it seems to be getting worse. I asked for my steak medium rare but it was more medium to well done, the sauce was tasteless. My daughter had chicken burger which did not look at all appetising and proved to be lacking in taste. My Father ordered the steak pie which was not a patch on the gorgeous steak and potato pie the previous people served. There is now a rotisserie in the middle of the pub which we had the misfortune of sitting opposite, it neither looks good or very well put together or clean. The staff were friendly enough but nothing as welcoming or professional as the previous team. I think we have given the new management enough chances to get things right so will not be visiting again which is a shame as it was always our first choice for a weekday tea.

My family visited the Gardeners Country Inn between Christmas and New Year for a catch up. We were seated in a large table alongside the rotisserie and we had no complaints in relation to the service. My father enjoyed his pie, and my partner/daughter both ate all of their meals.

After a wander around the garden centre next door we enjoyed a fantastic carvery at the Gardeners.. The staff were very friendly & accomodating - despite being very busy they managed to seat us at a table with enough space for our pram to be close without being in the way. Absolutely recommend

On an extremely cold snowy day last Sunday, we visited here for afternoon tea and was welcomed by a very polite and smiley front of house (and a log fire).

Not been to this establishment for some time. Last visit was a little disappointing but my visit last Sunday was a pleasant surprise. Staff were 1st class, we were looked after by Lauren who was polite and very helpful. The manager was 100% nothing too much trouble.The food I ordered was a rare steak and to my delight it came rare. I'm a foodie and difficult to please, so even though the steak could have been to be rested a little longer I was still very pleased. My wife and my step daughter had the Sunday carvery and was also pleased with their meal and service

Very friendly staff, (especially Emma) nothing too much trouble. Food was presented nicely, was tasty and hot, with reasonable prices. Can recommend and will be back again!

Visited the inn on Sunday 21/01/18 for a family meal, most of the family went for the carvey which for under £10 was out of this world, a great choice of 4 meats all cooked to perfection, a great selection of veg and roast potatoes, the Yorkshire puddings where bigger than the plates. Some had a starter, a great selection from the fantastic menu. I myself didn’t have a starter as I don’t think I would of finished my 32oz steak which I had order, once again this was cooked to perfection, rare the only way to eat a good steak. As you can see from the photos nothing much left.

This place is a little gem and a stone throw from where we live, its changed hands a few times in the last 10 years and has always been OK, but the Carvery was never as good as it is now, everything tastes so fresh, and the Yorkshire puddings are massive. really good value for money. The staff where also great, friendly and informative. keep up the great work, we will be back......P.S. the kids meal deal are also brilliant, enough to fill the little ones!

Again another great visit ! We came to investigate when new owners took over in November and had a fab meal ! Came back in in January and what can I say service was amazing food was really great !!!! Proper home made food with great portions ! They can’t do enough for you !! Best in the area by miles !

I visited the gardeners with my family for a meal and it was very nice. I have not been here for a few years so decided to give it a try. The food was all home cooked and tasted delicious. The full family enjoyed their meals too. The staff were very helpful and came back to ask if everything was ok. I will be making regular visits here.

Have visited gardeners a few times recently and have to say we have thoroughly enjoyed our food on every occasion . We are always made very welcome and everyone is very accommodating.

Visited the gardeners again this evening for a date night with the misses as usual the food was great and served quickly even though the lace was busy and the service was excellent , nothing seems to much trouble for the staff and Christina who is the manger is always happy to help and always has a smile , this place makes you feel very welcome , I would personally recommend a visit .

Looking for somewhere for a light bite on Boxing Day and found this hidden gem. Very friendly greeting. Superb food from the starters menu and a few drinks and we were happy. Great quality food and presentation very impressive. Would recommend and definitely go back.

Another Friday night and where to go for a pint and Pudding. Never been to the Gardeners for over 40 years. Past it many times but not anymore. We will go again for lunch, tea and dinner. Christina was very obliging, saw us come in and met us to ask if she could help. A quiet place for a pint and Pudding please do into the conservatory we went. It was very busy around the bar with festive celebrations but the diners had gone. This was 2030 hrs. As you can see, the reason why we will return. Enjoy, you will not be disappointed.

I've been dying to try this place after hearing about the new management and knowing they already have a great name for themselves in the industry, and boy was it worth the wait. The rotisserie chicken was amazing and the gravy to go with it was shared by all, not a drop left. The highest standard of effort that went in to the homemade desserts, just perfection. Attention to details from all staff was second to none. I can't wait to visit again - real soon

Heard Gardeners Arms was under new management so myself and 2 friends decided to give it a try. Food was fantastic but the chocolate torte dessert was out of this world. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Overall a brilliant 5 star experience. I will return and have already reccommended to family.

Wow, beautiful place, great staff, and amazing food. The portions are extremely generous and the good was faultless. Succulent meat and perfectly cooked vegetables. We will be back!

We've eaten here several times, most recently dropped in for tea last Saturday. We've never booked and have always got a table but there's only 2 of us, I would recommend booking for larger groups. I come here for the 'fake fish and chips' (halloumi) which is the nicest I've had anywhere - not the most healthy option but a tasty treat! My husband has tried the roast dinner, pork and gammon and said all were very good. Service always polite and pretty quick. Portions are generous so go hungry!

I have been to this pub/restaurant before and it was mediocre however, recently it has been taken over by new management and you can really tell. The service was outstanding and the food was really exceptional. It was all cooked from scratch using fresh succulent ingredients. The steak pie is one of the best in the Hull area. They have a great specials board too for main dishes and puddings. I will look forward to visiting again soon and will definitely become a regular customer!
