Attended a wedding at Lochgreen. Beautiful venue.

We visited Lochgreen for dinner for my sister's 40th birthday and had a fabulous evening. We booked our table for 6.30pm, were greeted at the front door and offered a pre-dinner drink in the newly renovated bar area. We had some cocktails and made our dinner selection here before being shown through to our room. The service was wonderful from start to finish and the food was delicious. Highly recommend you visit.

A fantastic addition to the property is the cocktail bar, it’s like it was there from day one , such is the standard of the work. The food in the restaurant was so well done : the quality of cooking, the seasoning, the presentation and ultimately its consumption. Rarely , as a group, have we destroyed food as a group and had no reason to question anything served to us, it was that good. Staff were absolutely outstanding. Well done to all concerned. Another visit will be on the planner forthwith.

We had a really enjoyable dinner at Bisque. Whilst the dining room looked somewhat old school formal, the atmosphere was not. Service was particularly attentive. The signature bisque starter was very good, main courses of sole (special of the day) together with a generous green vegetable side dish, excellent. With little room left we shared a tarte tatin dessert. Our meal, was marginally more expensive but superior to that we had at the nearby Piersland hotel.

Food and drink was great, unfortunately the staff were very inattentive and slow. We had a table for 12 and it was 20 minutes to get served drinks.2 seperate people told me theyd find someone to take the drinks order rather than taking it themselves. The fish of the day platter was fantastic I cant fault the food at all.

Expensive for what you get. We both had Monkfish which was lovely but the salad salsa and chick pea sides we recognised as part of a gusto recipe that we make often. I was particularly disappointed in the children's menu. The children both had pizza which was a frozen Chicago town pizza. I would expect this at the likes of TGIs but not a prestigious hotel charging prestigious prices! We were married here and have spent a lot of money at the hotel over the years. We left disappointed!!

If you want the ultimate afternoon tea you have to visit The Study at Loughgreen Hotel. Food and service 5* served by Liz and Sylvia they were both very friendly and were always on hand to ensure you had the ultimate dining experience.

Had a great lunch here at the weekend. Starters were wonderful, especially the Roquefort Cheese Royale. Simply stunning. The wine was beautiful and the service was just perfect. The surroundings wee also commendable as they looked absolutely spotless. Overall I’d say it was one of the best meals we have had in very long time.

Food choice OK but sparse. Teenager was burger, as the rest, unless the over priced steak was purchased, wasn't for her. The burger to be fair was delicious. Over priced starter of a few berries and a quinel of sobet was to say the least, ouch. The bisque was nice, the oysters to die for, the lamb was perfect. Good portions for a lunch but a better varied menu would make me go back.

Fabulous cooking in a really nice setting and amazing value if the market menu is on. We will definitely be back here.

We eat in France a lot. Bisque could easily be placed in France and would complete without any problem. The food and service were brilliant. One of the best meals we have eaten in the UK

We ate in this superb restaurant while staying at the hotel on Valentine's Day. There was a special set menu for the Valentine weekend at £45/head. It was certainly fantastic value for money - we both enjoyed amazing food. I had the prawn, lobster and smoked salmon cocktail, hubby had seafood bisque. We both had peppered sirloin steaks (£5 supplement), followed by the grand assiette of desserts. All simply delicious.. The restaurant has a lovely ambience, the music is not loud but is audible, the staff are attentive and pleasant. We had a lovely bottle of Malbec and after the meal, had coffee and petit fours in the lounge. A truly scrumptious treat..

We arrived for lunch at 13.30, and were still awaiting dessert at 16.00 hrs. Good food, to die for, but the service was very poor.

I think this is the first time I have reviewed somewhere twice . We have enjoyed it so much I think it deserves another glowing report . My wife , son and myself have had nothing negative to say from our visits .All staff friendly and efficient . The food is very good and fairly priced . Salted caramel creme brûlée gorgeous indulgence. Great ambience.

Visited on Saturday and really looking forward having heard some good reviews. Setting great and service superb food very disappointing. Starter of goats cheese and beetroot salad average and a tiny portion. Main of veal just ridiculous portion size. I thought the biggest con of last century which was nouveau cuisine had died but apparently not. I estimate that there was about two ounces of veal on my plate (imagine about one quarter of a normal sized 8 ounce steak) and a tiny amount of vegetables which at £28 was somewhat annoying. I genuinely think that the food on my plate would have fit into two tablespoons. Desert looked pretty but quite tasteless. At approximately £50 per head for three courses grossly overpriced and will not be going back. I will be having some interesting conversations with friends who recommended this restaurant. If you want somewhere to impress through the grandeur of the venue and the attention and professionalism of the staff then this is the place but don’t rely on the food.

We thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday lunch yesterday. Beautiful hotel - a very pleasant step back in time to an age of refined dining. Enjoyed a delicious mixed grill and an amazing trio of desserts. Responsive and pleasant staff.

Don't normally go for a Vegetarian main (normally stick to steak) but something caught my eye and my stomach wasn't disappointed. I think it was a roast beetroot main but the combination of ingredients and the cheese was exquisite.

Literally perfect. Every course ( inclusive of 2 complementary starters ), was beautifully prepared and presented. You know it’s good when the background hubbub is barely discernible because of the food in front of you. Can’t recommend it highly enough, which presents a problem in itself : it may be more difficult to get another booking. There was people in and around us who traveled from afar for a booking in this fine dining room. Can’t say I blame them.

Booked a table, on arrival sat in the lounge had a drink and ordered courses. After fifteen minutes escorted to the restaurant. Immediately the staff were attentive bringing a selection of breads,oils, butter also a gazpacho taster. Our first courses arrived, the scallops were delightful. The main course a filet was cooked to perfection, only issue, the pomme frites were delayed. Overall a relaxing pleasant experience, standards have improved and would recommend this experience

But the overall experience was worth the money. When we are passing fork loads of food between us, for every course ? If you want to remember a special occasion ( and telling them is not required ) , book Bisque, revel in the decor and ambience and do your stomach a favour. Exceptional food, beautiful surroundings. My new venue for special nights with my better half.

Excellent service from every single member of staff at both the Spa and restaurant. We were treated incredibly well and the food was amongst the best that I’ve ever tasted. Excellent value too for the Spa and lunch menu deal. We were treated to some of the chefs bread and butter which is an absolute must if it’s offered to you too. Well done Lochgreen - can’t think of any Ayrshire hotel that provides a better service or quality of food.

We were a family group of eleven celebrating my birthday. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left the staff could not have been nicer or efficient. Everyone enjoyed their meals, in fact one family member said that it was the “best meal” he had ever had. We shall certainly be returning.

We had lunch for 4 at Lochgreen. We received a very friendly welcome and invited to sit in the drawing room. Menus and drinks were brought but at no point were we rushed. We chose from two different menus which wasn’t a problem. Presentation and quality were both excellent and staff were most attentive particularly Parmveen. A most enjoyable lunch which we shall repeat soon hopefully

I held a family Christmas party for 22 people at Loch Green House on the 28th of December in Turner Room. Everything was fantastic from start to finish. The staff were warm and welcoming. The food was great and we had a really lovely time. We will definitely be returning next year for our annual get-together.

We had a lovely lunch, great welcome on entering the establishment, which is beautiful from the gardens outside to cosy & lovely interior. Canapés were delicious in the lounge before entering the dining room, warm bread was served with an absolutely amazing three course lunch the 2 servers were so attentive. We then had coffee & tea & mince pies in the lounge. The whole experience was fantastic!! This is our 3rd New Year Lunch and hopefully be back next year. Thank you to all the staff!!

I went to Lochgreen for the Sunday Brunch. The hotel and grounds are stunning. The serving staff were plentiful, professional and friendly. There was a good selection of starters, main courses and desserts. The food was of a good standard and value for money. One point of improvement is the chefs serving the buffet appeared to be texting each other from one side of the room to the other, hence the four out of five.

My wife and I enjoyed every moment of our evening at the Hotel and Hogmanay Dinner. Staff gave us a lovely welcome and complimentary bubbles and canapes, the menu was excellent and appreciated the presentation of the food. The Restaurant staff were attentive and ensured we made sure we were well looked after. Look forward to returning in the near future. A good New Year to all management and staff at Lochgreen

Went for New Year experience. Warm personal welcome at the entrance before pre meal drink. Before the meal we were treated to the Maybole Pipe Band playing for us. Well done to them. Fantastic 5 course meal. The tender steak was a highlight for me as was the red wine Pinotage. Danced away the night to 2 piece group with a good female singer and great tunes. Staff were friendly and attentive. Well done to everyone.

Lochgreen House Hotel and restaurant has never failed to impress me and today was even better than expected from start to finish. Party of 4 adults with 2 kids visited for Sunday lunch at the start of December. Service was absolutely horrendous and the attitude of the restaurant manager was quite simply RUDE. I'm not even going to start to write here about everything that went wrong but it was catastrophic for Lochgreen's standards. Having visited many times over the past 25 years, something has gone terribly wrong recently. Not one for slamming local businesses and definitely not one for writing poor reviews, we have emailed twice and they have been ignored and my mum has spoken to the Chief Executive's PA and we have yet to hear back and that was a week ago. Fingers crossed they get it sorted out soon as it would be a real shame to see this being the norm for such a lovely establishment.

We had a family Christmas day lunch at Lochgreen House Hotel and the food, service and all staff were fantastic. We were made very welcome on arrival and timing was spot on throughout the delicious meal.

We chose the new 'Bisque' restaurant at Lochgreen for our family Christmas dinner and it certainly lived up to our previous visit. Simply superb! Fantastic Christmas dining experience without a doubt. I started with the signature Bisque dish which is exquisite, so tasty! The Turkey with all the trimmings was succulent and cooked to perfection. Great selection of dishes for a Christmas day menu, including Turkey, beef, lamb, fish and vegetarian, with desserts to die for! The atmosphere was cosy, Christmassy and welcoming. Great service and nothing was too much bother.

Attended with my family as a party of 8 on Christmas Day for dinner. You will see some reviews below expressing how much of a disaster this was, but words cannot accurately describes just how badly wrong this went!

This was our first Christmas dinner dining out and yes 2019 was maybe not the hotels best year after reading previous reviews but the bigger picture needs to be taken into account! I may also be the only one to give a good review but feel I have too after seeing so many negative comments.

We were a party of seven who went for Christmas lunch. The experience was an utter nightmare. The service was appalling and the food mediocre. We left like several others before dessert was served and had a refund. They ruined the christmas experience of many families. Shame on them. Avoid this place, there are other places nearby who can only do better.

I’m just back from dining here tonight and can safely say it was the worst service I’ve ever experienced.

I came here for the food, but had the legs taken from under me by the professionalism of EVERY single member of the house staff ; to a person, nothing was a problem. In fact ( and this was the definer ) , the intuition was Olympic grade.

We had afternoon tea here and found the whole experience superb. On arrival the reception staff were so mannerly and helpful. The restaurant was immaculate with plenty of room at the table. The serving staff were very pleasant and helpful and food was absolutely delicious. There was no hurry and we were allowed to sit as long as we wanted as there was no limit on the time you had your table. I would definitely recommend this place for afternoon tea and at £40 for two persons it is reasonably priced.

This is a dining experience rather that just out for dinner. Exceptional food, beautifully presented and served with flair and panache. Believe me.....my dress size tells how well I know my food......I am too much of a lady to disclose the numbers!! I teach hospitality and these folks know what they are doing . Treat yourself, you are worth it.

Stayed over for two nights for a wedding. Dinner was superb, food and service faultless but Sunday’s breakfast was a battle zone, long waits to be seated and for everything else, empty dishes on the starters table that were not filled up despite requests, wrong breakfasts served and even an empty coffee pot served to one table! The waiting staff didn’t seem stressed or rushed but the chaos was not resolved even with the Front of House Manager serving tables.

Having dined at the restaurant previously, we were expecting the same high level of food quality & service as before.. However, things seem to have gone downhill some what! Our meal was honestly disappointing! But the main reason we shan’t be returning is the poor service we received from the younger male staff members that evening! Our server decided to make a derogatory comment about my daughter to his colleague whilst still within earshot and both he & the male at reception - as we were departing - were decidedly condescending towards us, unlike the more mature staff, who they might like to take a lesson from! Not the friendly, welcoming atmosphere we prefer to dine in!

Just been for dinner at lochgreen house, what can I say ? Unpretentious, relaxing, fantastic food but most of all, everyone is made to feel very welcome. Great staff and great food.

My wife and I recently celebrated our wedding anniversary by having dinner at Bisque at Lochgreen. Immediately on our arrival the staff made us feel extremely welcome. We were taken to the lounge where we were given the menus along with complimentary glasses of champagne because we were celebrating our anniversary. The food was exceptional, every course had unexpected bursts of flavour. Attention to detail was first class and the staff were very friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The restaurant has been refurbished since I was last there and I found the decor and atmosphere really pleasant. I cannot wait for our next special celebration so I can have an excuse to return!

A delicious breakfast served by caring and attentive staff. Some building work has caused a temporary change to dining which means a little of the high end service had disappeared. Not quite the relaxing comfortable experience it used to be. Buffet table was nearly empty when I arrived at 7.20. Difficult other customers returning food they didn’t like the look of meant my breakfast was slightly delayed. All in all a very good try and certainly won’t stop me eating here again.

Not having visited Lochgreen for some years, my husband booked us for a ‘date night’ dinner. On arrival, first issue, difficulty in finding a parking space as they were catering for a wedding as well as regular diners, ok not a massive big deal but irritating nonetheless!

I have lunched/dined and stayed at Lochgreen and have always found the staff charming, professional and the food excellent ( as one would expect in such an establishment). However, my luncheon experience today was disappointing, not a smile from those serving us! Drinks to start in the lounge fine! After choosing from the menu, we were taken to our table and our starters turned up quickly! Not, I agree, grounds for complaint, but unfortunately no wine was brought to us! Our starter plates were cleared and presto our mains arrived still no wine list! I had to ask for a wine list and by the time our wine came our food was cold! Very, very unprofessional! I, myself would have sent the food back, but I was being treated to lunch and did not want to embarrass my host, who herself was too pleased!

We had a delicious lunch last Friday. Lovely welcome and perfect service from various young men. Lovely dining room with crisp white table covers. We both loved the menu and had pea soup and hot smoked trout for starters, our mains shellfish risotto and citrus sponge puddings served with lemon curd ice cream. Every dish was delicious and beautifully presented. A real treat in lovely surroundings with such pretty well kept gardens

Not cheap but then in such a salubrious establishment you do not expect that. Service excellent, quality first class, ambience second to none. If you wish to treat someone special then look no further.

Visited as a group for a birthday meal. Service was excellent, every member of staff i passed said hello and were very friendly. Starting with canapes which were delicious. Fairly busy but staff were attentive. We had three courses then coffee and petit fours in the lounge. Lovely setting on a nice sunny day.

Food was very good and the restaurant looks fantastic. I found most staff pleasant enough but to be a really top restaurant they need to be more professional. I will be back for sure though as there are some great sounding dishes I need to try.

Visited the newly reburbished restaurant at Lochgreen 'Bisque' on Saturday for lunch. The decor was astoundingly beautiful, with sparkling chandeliers catching the sun and luxurious seating. An added bonus were the views over the stunning gardens. To start, I had the warm smoked Trout, delecate and delicious! My main was the Chicken and Wild Mushroom vol au vent with white asparagus and my friend, the slow cooked Beef Chilli con Carne with Avocado. Both dishes were simply melt in the mouth! Dessert...not to be missed, the Apple Tarte Tatin. Finished off with a great coffee and petit fours. The service was charming and unobtrusive with drinks chilled to perfection, great value too. With innovative dishes and relaxed ambience, the whole experience was unforgettable and I cant wait to go back for dinner!

I have been a regular of Lochgreen for many years but had not visited for a while. I had heard that the restaurant had undergone a refurbishment so thought I would give it a try. On my last visit both the service and food were excellent. This visit was a huge disappointment.

The food is really good and unlike other places in troon a good sized plate full ... good atmosphere and great outdoor area for kids to play

Went for dinner on Saturday night to the new restaurant. What an amazing restaurant. Great atmosphere and beautiful surroundings. Dinner was perfect! The new menu is top class and head chef Iain Conway has excelled himself with a variety of amazing dishes. The staff were very polite and attentive and will definitely recommend to friends and family. Will be back soon!!

Most probably one of the nicest hotels you will ever stay in (try and stay in the old rooms). The food and service are nothing short of exceptional.

We had a night away at Lochgreen gifted to us from our daughters and we laughed coz we live so close yet we’d never been.

Went for our anniversary wanted something a bit more special and it didnt dissapoint.superb meal couldn't fault it the venison was gorgeous so was my husbands beef .very attentive staff polite friendly

Haven’t been here for a few years although it’s very close . I must say I was pleasantly surprised! The hotel itself is very nice and the dining room is comfortable.

We were lucky enough to be given gift vouchers towards a meal here and decided on Sunday lunch.

We booked Sunday lunch for my mother in laws birthday. Service was fantastic, canapés to start were delicious. Food was incredible and then we finished off with having tea in the lovely relaxing lounge. We will definitely be back. 5 stars!

The food here was truly excellent as was the service. We ate breakfast, lunch and dinner for three nights and every meal was very good indeed. The restaurant itself is very attractive and has a great ambience.

Although residing in Troon, this was my first visit for a meal. My friends and I attended a pre-booked 5 course champagne evening.

Had the pleasure of eating here whilst staying in this lovely hotel. The whole dining experience was fantastic. The halibut dish I had was exceptional. Well worth a visit.

A real shame. Had Sunday lunch. The service and ambience were lovely; truly impressive. So, we were hugely disappointed to find that the Sunday roast was worse than a Toby Carvery, but for a bill of nearly £100 for two people. Very poor value.

We were there to celebrate my grans birthday on a Sunday in August. On arriving we were informed they had ran out of prosecco although before we could be disappointed we were offered Champagne for the same price which we were delighted about. We were served our drinks and lunch promptly. I had the curried chicken which was lovely and my Mum and Gran had the roast which was nice although the roast potatoes were definitely reheated so they were soggy. We were frequently checked up on by servers and our glasses constantly filled for us. We then ordered a cheese board but after 50 minutes it still hadn't arrived so I went and cancelled it (another disappointment from the kitchen) However the bar staff offered a glass of Champagne each on the house to apologise. Fantastic service from front of house, shame the same can't be said for the kitchen.

The food here is always superb, a little rich maybe but as a once in a while treat its fantastic. Wine selection is good, service is also excellent. Its a quiet restaurant but also has a private room for hire where you can have a bit more atmosphere for a group!

I always have a problem of expecting London standards throughout Scotland. A family recommendation drew me to Lochgreen for Monday lunch at the Kintyre restaurant.

An incredibly comfortable restaurant with a relaxed pace. You never feel rushed, and the staff are totally focused on meeting your needs. Beautiful windows, lovely mirrors, and very nice artwork adorn the restaurant. Top notch bar, with great variety. You will have a great time and want to plan your next trip soon!

Me and my wife ate here twice in conjuction with a hotel stay. Much better food than expected at a country side hotel restaurant. Better meal than we ha at any restaurant in Glasgow. Food from local from, or at least Scottish, produce. Nice and attentive staff.

The first night of a 12 day golf trip from Ayrshire down to England, 2 friends had a lovely dinner at Lochgreen on a quiet Sunday evening. Only a few other people in the attractive room, the service and the food were spot on. Not cheap, but good price to value. Would happily visit again.
