During our holiday in welshpool ans having searched for a pub in Mid Wales the Bradford arms seemed the best bet for lunch one day. We also liked the sound of the nearby canal and the heritage site. We arrived just after opening time with our dog and he was greeted with a bowl of water and a treat while we decided what to eat and drink. The menu, offered a good choice and the excellent cask ales and on tap cider fulfilled our immediate needs The food, excellent steak pie for one and superb faggots and mash for another were obviously locally sourced and served with ample freshly cooiked vegetables. The staff made us very welcome and we enjoyed a pleasnt 90 minutes eating drinking and being looked after by the landlord and staff. I would recommend it to anyone.

Fabulous unique pub - great food and lovely people. I went to the Bradford Arms for an evening meal and felt right at home where I straight away felt like I was part of the crew. My dog was spoilt and everyone gave him attention and treats - he was loving life. The food was all homemade and made from homegrown ingredients. Will definitely come back again and would encourage anyone to stop in if they are in the area or even if just passing through.

Attracted by the reviews and the menus we went for lunch. I ordered the steak & kidney pudding and my wife had the ham egg & chips. I had been looking forward to a home made pudding but it seems that it would be crazy expensive to make so they are bought in. Mainly pastry, so not a pudding: really a very ordinary individual S&K pie. The ham and eggs were good. Nice guy running the bar was probably the owner. The lady chef (wife?) explained the reasoning behind some items not being home made.

Ate with friends for early dinner on a Saturday evening. Dogs allowed in bar area. Two of us had the roast beef dinner, husband had the stroganoff and our veggie friend had the mushroom and leek pancake. All meals tasted great and good size peortions. Beef very tender and fab gravy. 3 of us had desserts - two had the cheesecake and the other had the sticky toffee pudding. Wine by the glass or bottle is very reasonable and good selection too. Fabulous puddings....and a must try as all home made.

Not for the faint hearted! Having been “warned” about this place, we were curious on our first visit. We were met by Bob, the owner who’s character could be likened to a mr Basil Faulty. The beer was excellent, the service good and the food was just fantastic! Mainly homemade, piping hot and really tasty. All for a very reasonable price too. There was a good mix of customers including several tourists. We had several drinks there and found Bob and his somewhat peculiar ways quite funny. We returned the following night where the food and drink was just as nice, again at a very reasonable price. Bob wasn’t so entertaining though, or had the novelty worn off and we had got used to him! I think his heart is in it, so we’ll worth a try

Called on a whim while staying at our caravan. Food was terrible! Ordered two roast dinners, came with tiny bit of meat, 3 roast potatoes and a small plate of veg to share (no proper veg- limp cabbage, carrot & suede). No taste what so ever. Think it was left overs from Sunday

Visited again for their amazing Sunday lunches. Dog friendly in bar area too. We both opted for Mains and Desserts, as the puddings are home made by Cath and are superb. I had the Turkey and husband opted for roast beef - comes with lashings of home made gravy, roast potatoes and fresh proper veg plate to share and includes new potatoes. Tasted fab and meat cut thick and so tender. Puddings husband had the Sticky toffee pudding which is his favourite there and I had the Eton Mess. All tasted great and highly recommended if in the area as the Bradford is also a hotel.

Excellent Sunday lunch as always – Went with friends who have never eaten here before and they loved it. We opted for the 2 course deal ( starter and Main or Main and pud), we all chose mains and puds, I had the turkey which was super – others had the beef or pork – comes with Yorkshire puds, fab roasties and lashing of fab gravy ,also served with what I would call proper veggies – swede – carrots and cabbage. Home made puds are amazing – if you love sticky toffee pudding – you have to try Caths - husband advises "its the best ever". Wines all excellent value for money and Bob always looks after us – well worth a visit if in the area for proper home cooked food.

This is a pub with a dining room attached, and if you can get beyond the less than refined manner of the bar/restauran manager and staff the food is hot, substantial and cheap. Been here many times before and always enjoyed the food, good value for money and big portions. However, our last few visits has seen the portion sizes of the vegetables decrease substantially. On our last visit a small dish the size of a side plate of veg was presented to two adults and a 9 year old child to share. The roast beef was tough and was brought home for the dog to eat. The host was rude to family members as he clearly had no serving staff and was running around taking orders and waiting on as well. The host should remain where he usually is ......behind the bar and not waiting on tables. Like the beef from our meal this place is slowly going to the dogs....we won't be returning any time soon.

The welcome is always friendly and we do enjoy a modest pre Lunch drink in the cosy snug out the back. The views of the river are spectacular. It was a bit chilly to be sitting outside on the balcony but one brave chap did take his coffee out there! The food, well, you can't call it 'just Sunday Lunch! It's a foodie treat! Plenty of beautifully cooked food. Always hot and tasty. The quality is certainly there as well. Cannot fault anything and the Sweets are to die for! The atmosphere is invariably pleasant. Mock timber frame manor house retaining much of its character and charm. No lifts. Breakfast was choose your own pre-packed cereals with a cooked option. Dinner was a mini-taster with delicious options which we watched cooked on TV cameras. The room was clean but dated with an en-suit crammed in. High windows restricted light and views of extensive gardens and river. The staff were friendly and willing but lacked service training. Guests our age do not wish to be called 'you guys'.
