We have always enjoyed our visits to Restaurant 27, sad to hear you are closing.

Amazing restaurant - the food is delicious, menu always different but never a disappointment, and the service is second-to-none. The staff are what make it so exceptional.

What a fantastic little gem. Been a couple of times and the food is simply outstanding. Gutting that they will be moving on but thankful we had the chance to experience it. 7 courses, couple of bottles of bubbly, brilliant service. Spot on.

We managed to get a last-minute cancellation, and what a result that was. We had missed a few chances to visit this place previously, and I can comfortably say that the wait, well, patience is a virtue. We had specified a veggie menu and there was nothing to disappoint. The FLAVOURS and textures blend into the most heavenly delight, to tantalise every receptor of even the most decadent pallet. The wine pairing was exquisite and introduced in great detail. Speaking with the chef was a privilege to share our gratitude and understand how an artist of this calibre creates such mouth-watering moments of pure indulgence and bliss. This restaurant and its professional team hit every nail, home, first time. Thank you to you all that made our evening truly remarkable. We will see you again

What an incredible dining experience. Every single element of the 7 course tasting menu was exquisite, the wine flight was perfect and the service impeccable. Absolutely faultless all round. Can't stop thinking about it!!!

The restaurant had a lively and energetic atmosphere.

Absolutely love the food each time I come.. great staff too..I'm also gluten free and they never miss a BEAT when it comes to this.. honestly would come here all the time if I was local. We struggled to pick a favourite dish, pork belly, steak, risotto, cheeseboard, wine flight EVERYTHING WAS ON POINT.. also made a special effort for my birthday too which was very touching! Notes for Restaurant Designers; Interior design could be tweaked to elevate the experience, the gallery wall is a little dated red accents cheapens the restaurants vibe (sorry) although I love the sketches of the chefs on one of the walls.. interesting lights too, could possibly have slightly dimmer lighting in the restaurant and loos if I was being picky. These points aren't highly offensive but they do somewhat cheapen the experience when your food is next level amazing my guests were a bit like 'where have you taken us' when they initially walked though the door but you're food sure did do the talking

Lovely food, wonderful staff, relaxed atmosphere. What a treat to be able to visit Restaurant 27 again. If you are looking for that " Little Special place" look no further. No parking but after 6pm you can park along the seafront free. I was a little concerned that I might feel cold whilst in the restaurant but I didn't feel that at all. It was lovely and warm. Decorated lovely with Christmas bits.

I would say a very fine dining experience indeed.

Restaurant 27 is tucked away in a residential area and quite difficult to park as everyone goes home at night with their cars. But don't be put off, get a taxi or Uber as this place is worth a visit. What appears to be a very large drawing room has been converted to house this restaurant. Nicely decorated and tastefully finished. The tasting menu is the only option for Dinner. However it was indeed very good and varied in courses so do try it. Serving staff polite, attentive and efficient. Definitely worth a try and well worth its classification of "Fine Dining Restaurant "

Very lovely meal, I would recommend it if anyone wants to try something special. But not my type of food, even the finished dessert was still not filling. All come with very small portions

Restaurant 27 we can say with great confidence is the best restaurant in Hampshire and quite possibly beyond. The food is not only outstandingly delicious but its an experience and the courses made for you take you on a journey...its really quite something. We visited the restaurant quite a number of times now and not once have we been dissappointed. The staff are so lovely. Friday just gone we were at the restaurant and a new young trainee waiter served us ( actually it was his first day ) he was lovely and got everything right for us and it was lovely to see him being kindly guided by the restaurant owner. The pricing is very good too...we'd be happy to pay more. Its impeccably clean and the atmosphere is relaxing. I like a cocktail called a " Hemingway Daquiri"...my husband whenever he books lets them know thats what i enjoy and they make sure they have the ingredients in to make it for me. An amazing restaurant.

It was good - good food, good service and a good ambience. Not great, not amazing, not particularly inspired. Back in the day this restaurant seemed desperate for a Michelin star, now it seems happy enough just to be mentioned in the Guide. Still, probably the best in the city.

This is by far the best restaurant in Portsmouth. Expensive yes, but must be tried at least once. Looking forward to my next anniversary 😀

An absolutely superb dining experience from a food and drink perspective. We were a group of 6 with various dietary requirements which they managed to cover without any issue. It's rare for my wife (lactose intolerant vegetarian) to have a tasting menu where all of the courses are tasty and well thought out but it was managed on this occasion and she raved about everything. The "regular" tasting menu was also excellent. The staff are very friendly and on the whole seemed very efficient although the initial drinks ordering and final settling up was probably slower than we would normally expect. If you were there as a couple you might find the atmosphere slightly lacking but as a group of 6 we made our own.

Food = excellent. Definitely 1* sort of standard. Service = simarly so. Decor = err. Overall it was wonderful; head and shoulders above the next best in Portsmouth.

Visited Restaurant 27 for the first time last night with my daughter for her birthday. We were presented with an excellent sample menu and vast drink selection! Every dish was beautifully presented, fresh and tasted amazing!! Excellent service from arrival and throughout, staff were polite and extremely attentive. Atmosphere was relaxed and each course came out at a perfect pace. Will definitely visit again in the future! Would HIGHLY recommended!! Thank you to all at R27 for a lovely evening and for my daughter's token birthday gift, an unexpected, kind and thoughtful touch.

Some really good dishes, but a couple were mediocre tbh, so for instance one dish of the tasting menu was sun dried tomato & mozzarella, nice but hardly showcasing chefs skills. WHITE ONION & THYME VELOUTE WITH A CHARCOAL BREAD WAS EXCEPTIONAL 😋

Absolute quality - food, drinks & service.

Absolute top marks for the food. We had the tasting menu with wine pairing and every single dish was brilliant. The amuse-bouche in itself was an intriguing start to the subsequent delectable things to come. We thoroughly enjoyed all the courses. They changed the main to alternative ones to suit the dietary needs of some of us which was thoughtful. We came away hugely satisfied. Only a couple of suggestions: Some of the dishes were served in deep bowls and were awkward to get to with the cutlery. The service at times felt a bit rushed, albeit these are personal perceptions and others may prefer it that way. Either way we have booked in already to visit them again😊

Stunning menu, great service and an amazing treat. We went to celebrate our 25th anniversary with our daughters and dear friends who are about to have a baby. Nice relaxed atmosphere, very attentive staff.

Discrete and stylish restaurant for best fine dining experience in Portsmouth.

Arrived but no-one asked to take our coats till we hung them up close to to where we were sitting and then someone came to ask if they could take them . Feel we got the least good table in the house as it was by the entrance and close to the toilets(booked 3 weeks before) No blue sapphire gin but got hendrix . Food was lovely but would have liked more explanation about food sources ,how it was prepared and the best way to eat it . Overall it was good food , think they could improve on the service as above to create a better dining experience .

We had an absolutely delightful meal last week. The service and the food were fantastic. Being gluten free, I am always nervous because service staff have often given me gluten after 'forgetting'. R 27 were fantastic. Each dish they served was explained and I was reassured each time that it was GF. This meant a lot. It's the little things that made the evening so perfect. I loved the goose, which I thought I wouldn't, I adored the sea bass, 24hr slow cooked pork was insanely good. I look forward to returning as soon as I can.

We booked this well in advance, on arrival left standing there no one acknowledged us Eventually the Maitre De came over with all the personality of a funeral director! and said can I have a word and directed us to a corner out of the way of diners.( We couldn't think for the life of us what we had done!!) He said he had tried to ring us to confirm we were still coming!! WE HAD BOOKED ! Why did he need to ring us? He said they'd had a lot of no shows. ?? Our table had been given away!! but if we would like to have a drink first he would find us a table in 40 mins! When we said ok can we sit by the bar and wait we were told to go to the pub down the road!!The Florence Arms. Why we went back afterwards we still don't know! While we were in the pub he texted us ( On booking , to the question any allergies I said my husband is allergic to cream so no cream) he text to say is that hot cream or cold he's allergic to? WHAT ! NO CREAM I said . Silence came the reply! The Florence Arms gastro pub is worth a visit,with jolly helpful staff and food looked great. Why oh why did we go back to Restaurant 27 !!! Food while plenty of effort gone into it ,it was sickley with loads of cream in everything! Service from staff was good but dour as was the decor, no choice of menu you had what you were given! The evening was supposed to be a treat for my husbands birthday. We would never patronize this restaurant again.deffinately not worth the £150 spent.The Maitre Dr needs to go on a customer care course.My husband was ill all night and next day. ruined our day!

The restaurant was fully booked and busy on a Friday night, and despite the initial abruptness of our welcome and being pointed to our table, this is definitely worth a visit.The tasting menu has a range of delicious food, with the staff working hard throughout to ensure you are not sat waiting for too long in between courses. We did not opt for the wine pairings but would do on future visits.We left not feeling too full or hungry, which is often a sign of a balanced menu. Food quality is high.

Absolutely lovely food, we opted for the taster menu and wine flight which was excellent. Two of us don't eat cheese unless melted however the mozzarella course was so good that we actually ate that without hesitation. The staff are attentive and welcoming, we have already booked again. Getting the fortnightly dine out throughout lockdown has been a saviour! The food the creativity has been fantastic! Every dish impeccable, flavoursome and a true representation of R27. Every transaction, covid secure and efficient. A very professional and passionate team. R27 continues to deliver top quality food and service whilst in challenging times. The best restaurant in the local area, a great chef and team! Thank you R27 for the last 12 months.

It’s no secret that we absolutely love R27 and have been missing the restaurant terribly during lockdown. Therefore, we were super excited to hear that Chef and his team had started to offer a fortnightly three course ‘dine at home’ meal. Picked up our meal yesterday (which was packed beautifully) and reheated at home using the instructions provided. In all honesty, we were blown away by it, literally was the ‘takeaway’ of the Kings. The meal was every bit as delicious as the dishes served in the restaurant. Our menu consisted of: garlic veloute with charcoal bread, chicken, leek and blue cheese pie with creamed potatoes and gravy and apple and date cake with salted caramel sauce. Thank you R27, you never cease to amaze. We can’t wait for the next round of dine at home and look forward to seeing you open again soon. N&R.

We had a wonderful time at this restaurant mid week evening. It came highly recommended and we were not disappointed. The service, food and atmosphere were all conducive of a memorable night out with family. With all the covid stuff going on we felt well spaced and safe. Two of our party enjoyed the wine flight with our food which was a special treat and I think it offered very good value for the money. The fixed menu offered an interesting and well balanced dining experience, I couldn't pick a favourite course as they were all excellent in their own way! Although not cheap I think it offered good value considering the quality of the food and drink. As a dedicated foodie I can highly recommend this establishment.

Lovely place, amazing service and delightful food.

Went back after a few years yesterday.... what a great taste explosion.. lovely hand crafted food, attention to detail... service was as I remembered.. all very very good, front of house complimenting the back perfectly.... We decided to opt out of the ‘wine flight’ and invent the ‘beer cruise’ instead... (even the waitress found that amusing).. the 6 beers they have in total equal the same cost as the wine flight... What a great alternative and a great set of 6.. (we did end up a bit sloshed)... top marks... we will be back...

Nuestra primera visita de encierro posterior a Covid 19 como una celebración tardía por el cumpleaños de mi prometido. Una excelente comida de interesantes combinaciones de sabores. Muy buenas precauciones de Covid, buena distancia entre mesas, desinfectante de manos disponible tanto dentro como fuera del baño para que puedas esterilizar tus manos después de tocar las manijas de las puertas. Buena comida (este era uno de los lugares de nuestra lista de deseos al que volver después del cierre) y buen servicio.

We spent a lovely afternoon here celebrating our anniversary. With two young children very rarely do we get the opportunity to really enjoy a leisurely lunch. The tasting menu with wine, eaten over four hours, reminded us why we use our anniversary to visit establishments like Restaurant 27. Reviews were good and we weren't disappointed! Visitamos a mi esposa y dos hijos adultos para un regalo de cumpleaños entre semana. Era un restaurante completo (todos los demás clientes estaban en parejas excepto un comensal solitario). Tres de nosotros tomamos el 'vuelo del vino' con platos acompañados de una copa de un vino simpático. Tuvimos una noche excelente y me haría eco de la mayoría de los otros comentarios efusivos sobre la comida y el ambiente. Prefiero que los camareros sean un poco menos formales, pero fueron atentos, rápidos y muy eficientes. Gran primera experiencia de buena comida para nuestros niños en edad de estudiantes.

Tuvimos una comida maravillosa aquí el miércoles por la noche. Tuvimos la suerte de conseguir una mesa ya que estaba completamente reservada pero, reservando directamente, el restaurante se puso en contacto con nosotros y nos ofreció una mesa. Genial para nosotros, el restaurante solo tiene un menú de degustación a un precio realmente razonable y, aunque no lo aceptamos, las combinaciones de vinos tenían un precio igualmente muy razonable. La comida era exquisita, venía con regularidad y, aunque pensamos que era una comida corta, al poco tiempo estábamos, como nos dijeron, 2 horas después de la noche. El personal fue atento y amable. Una experiencia completamente maravillosa.

Restaurante en el que hemos estado antes y esta vez fue tan bueno. Este lugar solía ser conocido como Murrays en los años 70 y luego fue reconocido como uno de los mejores lugares para comer. Ahora, después de varias transformaciones deficientes, ha vuelto a alcanzar esa excelencia. Los propietarios Kevin y Sophie han capacitado a su personal bien y de manera digna. El servicio fue discreto y personal. El menú de 9 platos estaba muy bien elaborado y cada plato proporcionaba sabores y texturas exquisitos y presentaba una presentación ingeniosa. Sería fastidioso seleccionar cualquier plato ya que los dos primeros platos de bollos de choux en miniatura rellenos de stilton azul y crema agria, seguidos de yuzu & tonic en coco; las bolas de manteca de coco eran maravillosas y conducían al pre-entrante. Era una ensalada de tomates IOW, melón y ajo negro servida con gazpacho de fresa - delicioso. El siguiente velout de cebolla con pan de cebolla y mantequilla se manejó magistralmente. Un raviolo de parmesano de tamaño mediano con salvia y polvo de hongos era ligero y delicioso. A esto le siguió una fantástica combinación de sabores en caballa braseada servida con pepino y rábano picante. Los platos principales de costilla de ternera cocida a fuego lento servidos en una cama de puré, verduras, cebollas dulces y rodeados de salsa de vino tinto eran divinos. Una rodaja de queso cheddar de Somerset servida con galleta casera fue seguida de un pre-postre de espuma de grosella negra con vinagre de grosella negra, qué limpiador de paladar. El postre de ruibarbo y natillas en escamas de merengue fue simplemente divino. Desafortunadamente, y aunque la lista de vinos era pequeña y completa, eran demasiado caros. Fuimos con un Chenin blanc de menor precio hasta la carne cuando cambiamos al merlot de menor precio. Si los restaurantes tuvieran un precio razonable para sus vinos, habríamos elegido vinos de lujo. ¡No aceptan Amex!

El restaurante mejor valorado de Southsea y a un paso de una estrella Michelin. ¿Realmente puede ser tan bueno? Bueno, sí, sí que puede. Siempre me pregunté si podría estar un poco oscuro una vez que entras, pero en realidad es más grande de lo que parece y muy espacioso. Todos tenían el menú de degustación de 10 platos: los 10 platos eran impresionantes, pero mi favorito era una sopa de cebolla brillante con pan de cebolla. Servicio impecable, informativo pero no imponente. Y aunque "elegante", fue bastante informal con otros comensales, incluidas familias con niños pequeños. No es una comida barata, sino un gran lugar para "ocasiones". Volveré.
