Good meaty burgers. Mexican great and standard good too.. Good vegetarian option included a deep fried courgette, halloumi and grilled peppers. Fries with crispy onions on top - perfectly cooked to my taste - ie well done not white and soggy. Bit pricey but worth it. Also service pleasant and friendly - bottles of chilled tap water included.

My son wanted to write this review. We had a early evening birthday meal as we had to get to cubs after, so the restaurant was really quiet. He loved the kids burger, it was good quality meat. He also had a milkshake, which come sin a cute old fashioned milk bottle. But the piece de resistance (sorry can't find accents) was the Banana Split, which the waitresses brought out with a candle in it, and they sang happy birthday. It really made his day.

We arrived at Relish at about 8.30 last Thursday to be greeted by a closed sign although the official closing time is 10.00pm. There were people in there eating so there didn't look like there was a problem and there was no extra explanation on the door. I called them from outside and was told that the kitchen was closed so they were closed no further explanation was forthcoming although it was only 8.30pm. It's a shame as this is a good place for a quick meal but we probably won't go back as we can't rely on them being open. Wagamama however was open and served a delicious meal.

Easy going, almost laid back and very family friendly. The service was warm friendly and full of smiles. Our food- burgers and ribs were very good. The Yankee burger especially so. Games, books and colouring things were very popular. My only quibble was that I thought the drinks were a bit pricey. We went back later in the afternoon for warm drinks and had the same warm welcome. Well done!

This place is in a prime location within classy St Albans. It is inaccurate to refer to this place as a restaurant, it's a burger bar. The menu is sparce providing burgers they describe in lavish terms but plainely and simply just burgers. Not particularly tasty either. The burgers as dishes are not even served with anything and one has to order side dishes to make them meals, at extra cost. The burgers themselves start at £5.95 and that is it, no extras at all just a burger and a slice of inedible gherkin that looks unappetizing and is completely irrelevant. If you want burgers to eat, that are tasty and much more value for your money I'd advise you to go to McDonalds or burger king. The service was also poor, ordering 2 x tea and 1 x coffee they couldn't manage to bring all together with the appropriate ingredients like cream and sugar at the same time. How this place has a customer base is beyond me. I am more than unimpressed and dissatisfied and would never recommend this place to anyone.

Went out with friends early on a Saturday, with no bookings in advance. We all decided we fancied a burger and went to Relish as we had heard good things. It was pleasant enough for a quick meal but since they say that their burgers are freshly prepared, it is quite annoying that the only way they serve them is cremated. I like my burgers rare, which I was told was not possible due to health and safety, yet there are many establishments (not this one) that serve steak tartare. Either the burgers are not freshly made or the meat is of such dubious quality that it needs to be completely overcooked before serving. Other than burnt offering in the middle of the bun it was all quite nice.

It was a choice between eating here or heading back to our hotel in Watford and going to the TGI's nearby but fortunately we managed to book a table online and it was only a short walk up the high street. the place was full except for a couple of tables so clearly a popular choice. There are a lot of burger options and very reasonably priced. if you don't fancy a burger then you can have a rib or chicken stack, Thai fishcake or salad. We had a classic beef burger, a classic beef burger with cheese and bacon, a chicken stack and a halloumi stack with sides of regular and sweet potato fries, onion rings and apple and beetroot slaw and we polished the lot off. The bill for 4 people with 2 beers and 2 soft drinks drinks was £56 including a tip. Service was quick and staff were friendly. Very impressed and would definitely recommend.

I have frequently eaten at Relish Real Burgers, solo or as a family. On the occasion of this review I pushed the boat out. My selection was a Tasty Thai fishburger, and a fried chicken portion. These came with salad and relish. My accompaniements were fries and homemade coleslaw. My waiters were attentive and held meaningful conversations. They asked how I was enjoying the meal. The meal itself was excellent. It was filling and had a range of flavours and tastes. A nice surprise was the effect of the coleslaw on the spices in the Thai burger. The creaminess and crunch of this toned down that of the burger. I had a glass of house red for my drink. For pud I had two scoops of icecream coated in a sweet sauce. At around £15 this represents extremely good VFM. It is indeed difficult to fault any aspect of this superb, unique and local restaurant.

We've been here several times before and it's always been good, reasonably priced and very convenient for attending concerts at the Alban Arena just next door, but last night's meal was poor and very disappointing, albeit the service was very good and the servers are very nice and helpful as usual.Firstly and this seems to be a trend, the food is served on a (too small) rectangular 'roof tile', so food falls off the edges - what's wrong with a proper, large plate ?!When the two burgers arrived, mine was supposed to have"crispy onions", but they were very soggy and very poor - definitely not crispy and inedible. I had French fries which had not been cooked enough and were soggy and tasteless. The actual burgers/meat were good, but the rest was a soggy mess. Also, the desert I wanted to order was not available and ok it happens, but didn't help after our poor main meal.We were asked if we enjoyed our meal and we did give our comments, but I doubt if we'll rush back and will choose another place to eat before our next trip to the Alban Arena, which is a pity as we have to date recommended Relish to friends and family, but not again I'm afraid.Hopefully, Relish will up its game and if we visit again in the future it will have improved, but for the foreseeable future, we'll pass - pity !

Inside its a real family place - I love a restaurant which has board games for the children - and it was good to see all the children in there seated and engaged with their parents with some activity . The restaurant itself is charming and clearly feel like a local independent . Menu is varied and service fair. Hubby had a chipotle burger and said it was the best burger he had had all year (and he's eaten in some great burger places). I ordered the Big breakfast Burger, my husband ordered the Classic Burger with a side of fries. The food was served hot and clearly freshly cooked. The burgers were juicy and the fries were crispy. Our only criticism was that the there was too much, I struggled and had to leave half of the burger bun and the hash browns. My husband also struggled and was unable to finish the fries. We (greedily) ordered desserts, Knickerbocker Glory and Salted Caramel Cheesecake with cream. We struggled with the quantity but thoroughly enjoyed it. We have since recommended it to several friends and we will certainly go back. We found this restaurant purely by chance. It is hidden away somewhat but only a stone's throw from the main high street by the Alban arena. We went for lunch and were lucky enough to get seated straight away as the restaurant was very busy. We also noticed a large reserved table which eventually became occupied by what appeared to be local office workers who had pre-ordered their meals. That is worth knowing. The staff are all young but the customers on our visit varied in age. Provision is made to keep young children happy with a selection of toys and there are also board games available. We chose the basic burger which was presented in a toasted brioch bun with salad on a board with an accompanying quartered dill. We also added skinny fries. We both commented that the burger, itself, was a little dry but other reviewers have remarked about the juicy burgers. Perhaps we were just unlucky on our visit. We will go back when next in the area and also definitely try one of the hard shakes next time.

I came to review this place and honestly wasn't impressed. If there's one thing a restaurant that serves simple food MUST do, it is that the simple food but be really good! I had a bunless burger with fries and slaw and expected something simply delicious. The food was edible and I did eat but my critical part says the oil was not hot enough for the fries, so they were oily and the onion rings were made into a patty like thing which made them lose their crispy texture and possibly done this way if they were actually not freshly made. Personal rating: an ok meal. The Service staff on the other hand were friendly and helpful.I do feel a lack of visible management during peak times to be a general issue and allows less than acceptable standards to manifest.

FIRSTLY- PLEASE GET SOME PLATES!!! A bit of wooden slate is not suitable for serving food on. Seriously. We've been here a few times and it's always really good but we went today and we're treated like an inconvenience. As soon as we walked in we were rushed to our seat, by 2 separate waitresses. We were then rushed into making an order. We ordered 2 burgers with sides. We specifically asked for the burgers with no salad. The burgers came and the waitress said "2 Yankee burgers with no salad". We both looked at the burgers... 3 tomatoes on each burger. Nice. We didn't complain though. The food was probably 50% as good as it normally is. Burgers were dry, the mini bucket that the fries come in (seriously. Put them on a ******* plate) was only 3/4 full. It just didn't feel like much love went into the food.We finished our food and drinks, without a visit to the table from any of the waiting staff at all. We decided to test how long it took for someone to acknowledge us and visit the table. We were left for so long (25 mins after we finished our food) that we had to go up to the counter to pay. I haven't been let down so much for a long time. The place was moderately busy, I suppose. But I've seen it much busier. That said, if you aren't prepared for every seat in your restaurant to be full, then either downsize or hire more (or more competent) staff. On a final note. STOP PUTTING YOUR FOOD ON TINY WOODEN BOARDS!! I DO NOT NEED TO EAT MY FRIES OUT OF A BUCKET!! Please google the word "Plate". The definition of this invention should blow your mind.

What a great spot! We tried their new restaurant in Potter's Bar, and the attention, food and atmosphere was as good, or better, than St Albans even! Great expanded menu, and so much food that none of us (4 people) were able to finish our meals! Just brilliant!

Great burgers as good as I've had. Utterly stuffed. My youngest had the ribs. The portion was bigger than him but he finnished it and says there the best he's ever had. Definitely come again and can't wait to try the new one about to open in Potters Bar

A lunch time destination for burgers in the city centre, there is a good choice. We liked the onion fries ( a mixture of french fries and lightly battered onion rings) and the fact they are included in the menu price. The beef was good, as was the chicken.

Friends and I love trying new places to eat and catch up. We ready the reviews about this restaurant and we went on a Wednesday evening. When we got to the restaurant we were slightly concerned as the restaurant was literally empty. The waiter and waitress were attentive throughout the meal ensuring that we had everything and that the meal was at it should be. We did find the chicken burgers to be slightly oily although it was grilled. The portion sizes were massive thou :) Overall it was a good meal Will definitely eat here again.

This was a meal pre-event in the Arena, After reading reviews decided to try, unfortunately on this visit the service was virtually non- existent although when served it was very friendly, we had to keep getting up to order our own drinks: the food was ok, halloumi burger was not great and extremely cold, The big fat greek burger apparently was very nice the chips were piping hot. We asked for the sweet menu only for it not to arrive, the waitresses were too busy talking at the counter, it finally arrived nearly 20 minutes later at which point we asked for the bill (that arrived immediately) and we left. It was a shame as the atmosphere was great but for the reasons above we would not return.

I really don't like writing negative reviews but after reading such great things about this place I was very disappointed...We arrived at around 7.30pm on a Saturday night and the restaurant was half full. My parter and I was seated on a table of two next to 3 staff member who was clearly on their dinner break. They was all eating and talking very loudly how drunk they got the night before. I understand that this isn't a 5 start restaurant but it's not what I want to hear when I'm out for dinner. On top of this another staff member kept coming over and talking to this table and standing between our table and theirs with her back to us which I found rude as the table where very close together...Anyway our waiter was pleasant and took our orders with no problem. The food came and the burger was very over cooked and dry but edible. I had the halloumi burger which was nice. The meal came to around £30 which was okay for the good we go however I would never return. All in all very disappointed with the food and service.

I came here today with my wife and 2 young daughters around 4pm. The place was empty as you would expect at that time on a friday however we could not fault the service or food. The waiter and waitress who served us were really nice and personable and the food we were served was delicious. Our daughters are 4 and 1 and they loved the food. My wife and I just had fries as sides whilst eating our daughter's burgers when they weren't looking. The food was fresh and we cant wait to come back. We went to another restaurant in St Albans the other week which was a very different, ie poor, experience. The restaurant manager and / or owner would do well to come and visit Relish to remind themselves what good service and quality food is all about. Unfortunately, I get the impression that big chain restaurants either don't really care about these things or have genuinely lost sight of this.Anyway, don't waste time, get down to Relish and am sure you won't be disappointed!

My husband and I have been travelling down to London regularly for the past 6 months, we park in St Albans and get the train from there into St Pancras. Either on the way into or on the way out of London we always pop into Relish Real Burgers for food. The service is amazing, the milkshakes are great, the burgers are the best we've had and if you eat before a certain time you get an 'early bird' deal. Cannot recommend this restaurant enough!

We & 3 other tables had the restaurant to ourselves on a Saturday night. We weren't complaining because we could hear ourselves speak. That's the only negative I experienced before. This place can become noisy. The burgers are cooked well with a variety of toppings to choose from. Not much to dislike. Some friends were not fans of the Brioche Buns and wonder why places often choose this type of bread as the burger carrier. Perhaps an alternative choice would be good. Excellent coleslaw, onion rings and good fries. Service with a smile and not a bad house red wine. We'd definitely visit again.

Being an avid burger eater , who has travelled just to eat at certain burger restaurants , this place has taken a little of all the best London burger stops and incorporated it to there own style and brand !Firstly the food is FANTASTIC! Not just the burgers but the chicken in the relish combo was moist fluffy and fresh! The burgers speak for themselves!! The slider options are also fantastic , but don't be fooled by thinking they are a "snack" option, as they are ridiculously filling too!The milkshakes and alcoholic versions are too good to missNow the service levels. I couldn't have asked for more, the staff bent over backwards to make sure our meal was perfect. Friendly, smiling happy to be at work staff (which is very uncommon nowadays )I couldn't recommend a visit here more!Well done relish and your whole team

We visited Relish Real Burgers late afternoon. It was quiet and we were served promptly. The shakes were very tasty. I went for the Maltesers shake and my wife went for the pina colada shake. We are both vegetarian, and there were good choices for us. The onion rings were one of the best I've found, nice crispy fries, along with the tastiest chilli sauce. All in all a great place for a lunch.

What's better than having a delicious burger cure your hangover? A burger that is made to order (with a range of toppings to choose from) delivered straight to your door! I have not been to eat directly at the restaurant, but the menu stood out from others selling burgers within the St Albans area. Especially as I had a craving for halloumi! The burger was cooked to perfection and deliciously messy! The fries were great and my friends were extremely satisfied with their orders too!

What else could you want in a burger restaurant? I think they are the best burgers in a fast food restaurant in St Albans. Well cooked and fresh - as are the fries. Very nice homemade coleslaw too. Good for Saturday lunch.

We Went for lunch here and after hearing good reviews were looking forward to trying it. The decor made it seem more of a diner and not somewhere I would choose to go fit an evening meal. Very casual. The menu selection was varied but nothing amazing about the meals we had. The St. Albans ale was nice though!

We have been regular visitors to Relish since it opened and have always been very impressed with the quality of food and their service levels.Relish is in a central location attached to the Alban Arena but it's far enough from St Peter's Street so that I suspect it doesn't do as well for passing trade. We've only had to wait a handful of times for a table, and even then not for very long. The interior and their toilets have always been clean, and the option to sit in a booth is nice when you're trying to manage where to stick the coats/changing bag. There are games for the children to play with at the table - I think a few of the bits/counters are missing on some of them, but the same can be said for ours at home...The burgers are great! Fresh, juicy, and good-sized. We almost always go for their chicken burger, with either then one of their beef burgers or the vegetarian halloumi option. They also offer 'Sliders' selections, which I had no idea meant mini-burgers when my friend first told me about them. Useful if you have trouble making up your mind! The children absolutely love the variety of milkshakes on offer - aside from the usual flavours, Relish offers milkshakes made with treats like Oreo biscuits (loved), M&Ms (less loved), peanut butter (yum) and Nutella (definitely the children's favourite). The fries are always very crispy and are served hot. The sweet potato fries are a 50/50 hit in our family - outright loved or hated. If you've not had them before they are definitely worth a try. After milkshakes and burgers we have always been too full for a dessert, and we've never stayed on for coffee. It actually pretty well sums up how we engage with Relish - dive in hungry, enjoy our food, dive back out again refuelled and happy. It's worth mentioning that they have (at the time of writing this) an Early Bird discount on offer, but we've never been able to use it as we've always visited either at the weekend or after 6pm before seeing a show. We've always been very pleased with our experiences at Relish. The staff are always friendly and have looked after us well. It deserves continued success.

Okay so the food here is great. Really yum. Their shakes are insane too... But that's not what this review is about. This review is about a restaurant that never gave up on a hungry customer's burger needs. This afternoon, my frustrated husband, infant son and I had to leave a friend's barbecue. We had been looking forward to eating a burger all week. Sadly, our chum was so busy being a masterchef in the kitchen that, by the time the fire was started, we had to go home and put our son to bed. Devastated, we consoled ourselves with the promise of a deliveroo, and quickly went about ordering. Sadly, the deliveroo payment system wasn't working, and they suggested we tried again in a couple of hours. Despondent and hungry, we turned to other delivery options, but none could satisfy our desire for a burger. A quick call to relish to ask if they had their own in house delivery confirmed that they only used deliveroo. But then Andy, like a knight on a white horse (or so I imagined him from my end of the phone) said "maybe there is something we can do" and before I knew it his manager was at my door, having driven himself, burgers in one hand, a credit card machine in the other. Now folks, if you've ever been a starving new parent with bare cupboards and an insatiable desire for a hamburger, you will know why I was so impressed. Relish really is a restaurant that cares about its customers. Thank you so much!

Once again, a superb evening at M&C St Albans. We were greeted warmly and shown to our table immediately. We didn't have to wait long for our drinks and food, with the latter being very hot and tasty. LOLA, our waitress, was superb - very friendly, helpful and efficient. She has been our waitress the last few times we've been to this restaurant and it's always a pleasure to see her smiling face. Thank you for another very enjoyable evening.
