Relish in Scarborough

We were visiting my girlfriend's hometown on a trip from the USA and she had been recommended by a friend to try Relish. So we popped in for breakfast one morning and it was delicious! I had the breakfast wrap and the egg was cooked perfectly. A day or 2 later we went back and had their burgers. Again, cooked just right and they even had the best tasting vegan cheese that I have ever had on a burger, assisting my dairy allergy perfectly. The staff is lovely, always smiling and having conversations with customers or regulars as if they are family. Highly recommend it if you are in the area and want a good meal or an excellent cup of coffee.

Always service with a smile! The staff in this cosy, tucked-away eatery are unfailingly friendly and helpful, which is just one reason why Relish has been my family’s (three generations of us!) favourite lunch place for five or six years. Meals are always cooked fresh to order, so at busy times be prepared to wait just a little longer for your food. When it arrives, the meal is worth the wait, made from obviously fresh, good quality ingredients. Special mention here for the burgers…especially the Blue Cheese! The meal comes beautifully presented on stylish table ware which is totally in keeping with the decor. The decor is warm and inviting (as is the dangerously comfy sofa, if you’re lucky enough to bag it!) with quirky touches such as the wall of clocks and the large Banksy “Sweep it Under The Carpet” mural. There is plenty of seating, with an extra room hidden from street view, so don’t let an apparent lack of tables at first sight put you off. Tables can be reserved in advance. The facilities are always spotlessly clean, as is every area of the cafe. Do I sound like a fan of Relish? You’re darn right!

The girls at Relish always provide a warm welcome, great coffee and delicious food. Worth finding your way to it ☺️

We were looking for good coffee on a visit to Scarborough and on visiting Relish were served with very good flat whites, one of which was decaffeinated To accompany were good fruit scones with jam and cream Staff were very good and friendly too Well worth a visit , slightly off the beaten track albeit in the centre of town

We recently went here on recommendation of the owner of the cottage where we were staying locally. The food here is of top quality and so tasty. Everything was home-made and the service was amazing, even our dogs were welcomed which was a real bonus. Please go here when you next go to Scarborough, you won't regret it!

I have visited a Relish on many occasions and it is one of my favourite places in Scarborough. The food is always fresh and tasty, I love their burgers and ciabattas and their breakfast is excellent. The service is great and staff are always really friendly

We ate lunch here today, we are a party of 6 adults and a 2 and 3 year old.Staff were friendly and food was good value for money and very tasty.The children enjoyed there sausage and chips, which came with the sausages ready cut into chunks and came very quickly to allow them to eat as soon as possible. Staff were very accommodating. The hot cookie and ice cream was very yummy. Thank you would recommend to anyone visiting.

We were visiting Scarborough today and had a look online to see if there were recommendations for breakfast. We looked online and found Relish and thought we would give it a try. We were greeted with a very warm welcome and served quickly and efficiently by a very helpful waitress. Breakfast was one of the nicest I’ve eaten in a restaurant by a country mile!! Fresh, hot and high quality produce. The plates were warm too which was great for keeping food hot whilst you were tucking in! Breakfast was £8.95 for a full breakfast with a choice of tea or Americano. All in all, excellent value for money and super tasty! Toilets were immaculate and the restaurant was super clean too. Can’t speak highly enough, I would wholeheartedly recommend. Thank you!!

Friendly and obliging service from the hardworking Jen and Kathryn, who have worked so hard to establish this little gem. Always made to feel at home.

After lockdown it was a huge pleasure to be able to be able to get back into Relish. For us it’s the very best coffee shop and eatery in town. Jen and Kathryn are so welcoming and even Mum Debbie lends a hand. We always take friends and visitors there and they always say how much they have enjoyed themselves. People visiting on holiday are just as welcome as locals so here are some instructions on how to find Relish. Head down Westborough in the town centre and after passing M&S on your right, turn left into St Thomas Street. Immediately on your left is Waterhouse Lane and Relish. Make it your first visit and you won’t be disappointed.

So this hidden gem of a place in Scarborough is simply amazing. We came here 2 years ago and we returned and it has not disappointed. We have actually been here for breakfast for the last 2 days. The quality and quantity is fantastic value for money. The staff are welcoming and friendly and nothing is a bother. Simply fantastic. A must go

Stumbled upon this place by accident, it was a busy Sunday morning but the lovely waitress accommodated our family of 4 really easily. kids loved it, breakfast was yummy, would recommend. My son had the hot chocolate which he was chuffed to bits with as well, all staff were really helpful

Finally paid a visit on a rainy day they got us in without booking.Friendly polite staff and hard working so deserve your custom.Prices are average and quality of meals we had was very good,see photos,and presented well.We sat in the front part so did not see the rear, decorated nicely and with it being Halloween they gave our granddaughter some sweets in a bag which was a nice touch.Will defo pay a visit again.

A lucky find for us on a wet day. Super lattice cafe serving great homemade food at very reasonable prices. We had the afternoon tea for 2 (£15). Chucky sandwich selection made with good quality fillings and great fresh bread, kettle chips, scones with cream & jam, a couple of large slices of cake and teas. So big in fact we had to prioritise & the friendly waitress happily offered us a bag for the remainder. Warm and comfy, clean and friendly service. Covid rules adhered too. Nothing to dislike and a great deal better than most other places we passed.

I was in Scarborough changing busses and had an hour or so to kill. I was peckish but really didn't want to use a chain if I could avoid it. I wandered down the main shopping street and then took a turning and went up a little pickle lane, I'm glad I did. Relish was well run, very aware of C-19 precautions without being bossy or control freakie. The welcome and service was friendly and warm. The sausage sandwich was very good, the tea likewise. There were a few folk in and the staff clearly knew, and looked after, their regulars. The place itself was clean and smart, without being clinical. So far Relish is my only experience of Scarborough, but I intend to go back. Very impressed.

The Owner of Relish is so off hand and rude it's unbelievable. That the people on the next table heard how she spoke to us, they also said she had spoken to some other customers the same as us earlier on!, She obviously she forgets the customers are keeping her business going! It's not the first time she has spoken to us like that and it will certainly be the last time WE EVER GO IN THERE AGAIN!

Came here for lunch. The procedures for entry were explained and simple, and we were immediately made to feel like we were in safe hands. Test and trace QR codes on the walls and on the menu.Most importantly the food. Good selection of breakfast bites and burgers for lunches, as well as sandwiches if you don’t fancy something big. I had a breakfast roll, and my wife had cheese on toast which were both good. The Relish got chocolate was really warming on a cold day and the Dirty Fries were indulgent. Would definitely come back again.

It's tucked away down a side street so found it by accident. But, a lucky accident. Not cheap but worth it. very nice, succulent burgers. Service was very friendly and helpful. Thanks.

I went out for breakfast and this is the best full breakfast I've had out in Scarborough. I didn't feel rushed the food was amazing. Friendly staff and all the covid precautions were brill! Felt very safe. A lovely breakfast will def be back! Thank you ☺️

This certainly deserves a visit for good food or just a sit down with a coffee. It has a great atmosphere and decor with welcoming staff serving super food. It was reassuring to see how intense their cleaning and recording of customers was.

What a breakfast, we had phoned the night before and booked a table. So glad we did. we arrived, and was warmly greeted. We asked if they did a full breakfast, and boy what a breakfast. It’s the best one I’ve had. It soon filled up, with locals and tourists alike, and I can understand. Thank you for a great start to the day. Highly recommend to anyone visiting. Came across this place from TripAdvisor, as couldn’t get into our first choice which was booked out. Had a couple of burgers (including the veggi one), chips and a blueberry muffins. Staff were lovely, food was ok - not too I’d be quite as enthused as some of the other reviewers below.

Came across this place by chance and we are so glad we did. Everything was just wonderful - the service, the food, and the environs. We were reassured by their Covid-19 precautions and hope to return again as soon as possible. Highly recommend this place to anyone!

My friend and I booked a table and went on a busy Saturday lunchtime. We ordered afternoon tea for 2 with tea as I was driving.What arrived was an excellent, proper afternoon tea with more than we could eat. Everything was delicious. A good pot of tea, excellent spotless facilities made our lunch really special.

We had not booked in advance but were found a table straightaway & made to feel very welcome by the charming lady who met us at the door.We were impressed with the measures in place for dealing with the current situation.We ordered afternoon tea for 3 and,,even though my son & his wife have good appetites,we failed to eat everything.The sandwiches were well filled & the bread was fresh & tasty.Scones & cakes were most enjoyable.We will definitely be back to try more things on the menu.

My daughter & I went to Relish for lunch & were so impressed with the way we were greeted by a lovely member of staff. The food was delicious and we really enjoyed it. Me and my mum booked to go to Relish this morning for breakfast and it was one of our first times eating out after Covid restrictions were lifted. The experience was excellent, everywhere was really organised, clean and we felt really safe.All the staff at Relish are amazing, really friendly and efficient and we were particularly impressed that they had orders ready for when regulars came in.We both had a full English breakfast which was amazing. Very tasty, hot and really well cooked! The best breakfast we have had in a Scarborough. We have been to Relish many times and love it and will definitely be coming again for breakfast.

My friend and I dropped in for lunch with my 2 year old daughter and was immediately seen to by a member of staff who was extremely pleasant and welcoming. We perched ourselves down and admired the decor. The young lady who took our order seemed new and being the lovely person I am tried to make her feel at ease by being nice (after all, she may be new but she is still providing me with food and trying her best so its a win win in my eyes). We both ordered burgers, I ordered the halloumi burger and ordered my daughter the sandwich box thing they have (simple, yet effective for a 2 year old. Well done relish ). They brought my daughters sandwich first which was brilliant as she was getting restless like kids do.When the burgers came my burger was wrong (I am mentioning this...ONLY because I need to say how amazing the staff were at this point and not because im a whinge bag who complains about every little mistake...that is easily made).When I mentioned this to the staff they were mortified and extremely apologetic. They took the burger from me and explained there would be a little wait on what I ordered. Fabulous guys, I came to eat..im still gonna eat. They then proceeded to tell me that they have taken my burger off the bill which I would have still happily paid for. The staff went out of their way once my daughter had finished eating and gave her a colouring book and crayons. When the burger came it was delicous. My friend really enjoyed hers too and we both said "I would definitely come again" whilst we were scoffing our faces. I enjoyed the whole experience, yes they made one error. Was it rectified? Yes. Did their service outshine the error? Absoloutely. Thank you to the staff for a lovely meal

Whatever I order from their menu comes well presented and delicious. If they were less patronising to solo visitors I'd go alone more often, but something me and my dad agree on is that it's above the usual coffee shops. We try and go at least once a fortnight, our latest visit I ordered the brie and bacon in a ciabatta with skin on fries, the flavours all married together to create an unbelievable meal.

Came here for a cuppa with friends , after looking at the menu we ordered tea for two and a coffee, I ordered the crustless quiche . The large pot of tea came only one tea bag in for two people had to ask for another. Quiche came it was very nice but very small portion for the money it wasn’t filling at all .may come back to try the burgers which looked nice . But please make sure you put two tea bags in a pot for two people, it’s common sense .

I arrived at peak lunch time & it was very busy (good sign). They warned me there might be a half hour wait but the food arrived much sooner than that. Very friendly staff, polite and hard working. Food was also very good. Recommend highly.

Went to lunch today ordered a coffee and tea cake and my wife ordered steak sandwich and fries Very disappointed with the service food was ordered together, however tea cake came first when I pointed out that the food was ordered so we could eat lunch together the response was poor, staff were young and not trained in customer service They also sat together to eat there own lunch at tables meant for customers it looks unprofessional won’t be going again

We called to enquire if they do takeaway breakfast sandwiches, the lady on the phone came across rude and gave the impression that takeaway were a hassle but they do them, we ordered, and on collection they main shock was that they charge £1.75 just for mushroom which is Ridiculous and pure greed,this place is over priced, we will not be ordering again we rather use McDonalds much better service and price.

Really lovely quaint cafe, we looked on tripadvisor before we visited Scarborough as we didn't know where to go. We weren't disappointed, just had some light bites which were delicious and a couple of beers! Staff were attentive and quick.

Popped in to meet a friend visiting Scarborough. Very busy but managed to get a table. The staff were very friendly and offered a loyalty card which I will use in future. The coffee was very nice and newspaper’s to read as well. Thoroughly recommend this cafe.

Called here on our Sunday stroll around the sea front. Lovely coffee and an even bigger treat for our pooch of a sausage! Will definitely return as those eating around us had well presented, hot and delicious looking meals.

I regularly meet friends at Relish, mainly for Coffee, and have never been disappointed! Does a wonderful breakfast as well as other foodstuffs. Scrupulously clean, and plenty of space too. One of Scarborough’s hidden Gems!

This is a hidden gem and dog friendly too which is great for us. Amazing cheese on toast big portion too! The best part was that my dog was offered a free sausage which sounds like a little thing but kept her happy whilst we ate thank you. Such lovely friendly staff too

We were on our way down to Scarborough Market for a bite to eat having just escaped from TK Max... luckily we turned down the alley rather than heading back to the Main Street otherwise we would have completely missed Relish Kitchen & Coffee... initially we just went in for a look after spotting someone eating soup, and as we are doing Slimming World, thought soup might be a good choice.

The staff are nice and the food is good. We went for a quick lunch the other day and it was good as always. The coleslaw is delicious!

Sorry for the late review but we had a birthday celebration at Relish in June and it was perfect. Booked for the Friday evening and although small the menu made our mouths water! We chose a selection from the small plates menu as a starter and burgers as mains and everything from food to service(and the prosecco!)was perfect!!! Love this place on a daytime but evening it was a different atmosphere and we all enjoyed a relaxed and enjoyable evening. Will definately be returning keep up the good work ♡

Came in alone for lunch as I often do with places like this, found the staff treating me like a lost child on arrival but when the food came it was lush and a real good quality burger with skin on fries. It had great flavour, bun a bit hard but overall very nice. The drinks menu on the tables could have done with a milkshake list or a few more soft drinks.

Love this little café! Stumbled upon this a couple of years ago when looking for somewhere open on a Sunday when my friend visited Scarborough one time. Over the past couple of years I've sworn by it for everything! I've taken all my family and bought the gift vouchers as I truly believe it's the best place for food and drinks in town. The fries are my favourite from anywhere I've tried, just so tasty! I've managed to get a rather fussy pensioner to become a regular too so that in itself is trustworthy. Love the food, love the staff and the atmosphere is unbeatable.

This is a favourite place for brunch for myself and friends. The food is really tasty and quite reasonably priced and the staff are very pleasant. You can either sit at a normal table or relax on a sofa and the décor in the front part of the café is very nice (I'm not so keen on the 'garden' room at the rear,but it's mainly used by customers with children). Relish is tucked away in a little alleyway, so not easy to find for non-locals, but I would definitely recommend anyone to give it a try.

Last night I visited Relish for the very first time, I was not disappointed.

The morning of our departure from Scarborough and needing breakfast we popped into Relish. So very glad that we did. Very good breakfasts. Nice, busy, surroundings and very pleasant staff. Will not hesitate to visit again

My daughter chose Relish for my birthday, it was lovely, the waitress was very friendly, the food gorgeous. Completely different atmosphere from daytime. Would certainly recommend going in an evening if you haven't been.

Best place for lunch in the town centre. The menu is a little short but everything we’ve tried is fantastic and the specials board adds some variety. Well priced and service with a smile. Keep up the good work ladies!

We come to Scarborough every year. After discovering relish last year we had to visit again. It did not dissapoint! Fantastic food. Lovely burgers, soup and sandwiches! Service is fab. I will definitely be visiting again on my next trip!

Just had lunch here today with my husband. The service was great. We ordered a burger and a soup sandwich combo. They were both very very tasty, good sized portions and presented very nicely. This was our 2nd visit and will not be the last. Definately recommend and will be returning soon.

We decided to try the breakfast at Relish. On the Sunday we had enjoyed coffees and teas when our son was with us so we went for breakfast on the Monday at about 11.30am. It was busy. The breakfast came quickly and was both piping hot and delicious. Really pleased, and it is good to have some choices in Scarborough. Service excellent and it is a nice environment.

Came across this through trip advisor, and thought why not give it go. The place is lovely, the food is great and good value for money. Staff are friendly and welcoming. A must go if in Scarborough. We’ll definitely be coming back.

This is a lovely hidden away cafe, tastefully decorated and full of atmosphere. From walking through the door the staff were superb, friendly, helpful and enjoying their work, which makes a change. The coffee and toasted teacake were nice and the food being served looked extremely tasty so next visit we will be eating there too!!!

Relish is not an easy place tofu d and I only heard about it from word of mouth but it is well worth searching out.

Relish is well worth visiting, the staff are so friendly and very patient, the food choice is good, the food that we had was worth waiting for, every plate swept clean and the price is very good!!!!!!

I always like to visit Relish! I love the food, surroundings and atmosphere. The food is delicious! The sofa at the front of the shop is very comfortable.

Popped in for a quick bite during rush hour and still great service and great food sandwichs are ace.

Firstly I hate being greeted with the term "Guys"the cappuccino was a bit weak. The cake however was superb!

Regularly visit Relish on lunch break from work and weekends with friends and family. Friendly staff and great atmosphere. The Brekky wraps are epic. You have to try the Macho Nacho burger it is awesome. That and the Nachos starter are a personal favourite. The coffee, especially the Lattes are the best around. Great prices for the quality that comes out of that kitchen. Strongly recommend a visit.

I was in a bit of a funny mood the other day and couldn't find much to excite me on the menu - I opted for what I thought might be a fairly pedestrian choice of mixed vegetables on a ciabatta with some slaw and salad. Oh my goodness me - what a surprise!! The flavours were just so good - I thoroughly enjoyed the meal and was quite sorry I couldn't stay longer for a pudding :) Ordered the cortado coffee and could swear it was made with cream. but no, on asking at the counter my partner learned that being barista-trained they know how to make the most out of their full cream milk which lends such an appealing taste to the drink. Faultless.

We visit this place a few times a year and always delivers high standards. The coffee is nice and the food is great . I would how ever like to see a few more home made cakes and not shop bought in from wholesalers - other then that it’s a 4/5 from us

Came here with my family on a cold, windy day for lunch. Absolutely brilliant, wheelchair access and disabled toilet for my son. Food was delicious and the service impeccable.

Came here a few years back and loved it. So we came back again to see if it was the same and it was. Excellent quality burgers and friendly staff. Great service to boot. I recommend this place to all of my friends. Plus allow dogs in the front tables. Good for just tea and coffee too.

The staff here are so friendly and obliging. My Mum goes there a lot and they know all their regulars and what they like. The cakes are delicious, I'll see you at Christmas!

We had a gorgeous lunch at Relish Kitchen. The Relish Chick burger was excellent and the Stilton and broccoli soup was superb. The staff are very lovely and they looked after our Westie "Frosty" too. We all highly recommend Relish Kitchen.

On a day trip to Scarborough we were looking for something a bit more than the usual fish and chips, but we had the kids and dog with us, so it couldn't be fine dining either. I searched on tripadvisor and found this place only 100m from the first restaurant we were going to try (which was unexpectedly closed) and I'm so glad I did!

Found thid cafe on the off chance and was delighted to see they catered for all dietary needs including vegan. We went in to be seated promptly and our drinks order was taken. When I asked the waitress what was vegan on the menu she was unsure but quickly went to find out. I ordered the veggie burger, my mum ordered the bacon and brie sandwich and my niece ordered the goujons, all was consumed. The meals came out promptly but were Very hot and very tasty. A nice little find in Scarborough served by fast efficient staff. We will certainly be returning. I understand you are a fairly new business, keep up the good work
