Reeves Restaurant in West Somerset

First ones in at 6pm. Beautifully dressed restaurant. Sat by a fire. Subdued lighting. Waitress was amazing. Put us at ease straightaway. Gave us time to enjoy the food and our own company. Great choices on the menu. Both meals superb. Great value for money. Will return when next in the area.

Absolutely perfect. Wonderful food, presented beautifully. Very friendly, efficient service. Definitely the place to go for a special night out. Our party of 5 thoroughly enjoyed everything and will be back!

We trend to celebrate special occasions at Reeves, maybe three or four times a year. The welcome is always wonderful, the atmosphere lovely, the menu varied and the food tasty and in sensible quantities so you come away feeling full but not bloated. On this occasion we booked for the first sitting on Valentine's Day, which is obviously a very popular night to be going out for a smart meal. The menu was reduced as they were doing a second sitting, but still plenty to chose from and preceded with a drink and 'amuse bouche' which arrived moments after we sat down. Despite suspecting someone would be wanting our table later, we never felt that we were being rushed. [On most days there is no second sitting].We'll be back.

What a beautiful location and the quality of the food and service was outstanding. Truly dog friendly not just dog tolerant and one of the best meals out we have had for some time. We will definitely return

This is the best restaurant for miles around. Every time you visit, it's calm, lovely ambiance, warm staff, excellent food, great drinks and cocktails. My go to restaurant. You can not fail to be impressed. If you haven't tried it, you are missing out.

This restaurant was opposite our B&B and our hosts recommended it, it was amazing, food was unbelievable, I was treated like a Queen, nothing was too much trouble, it was my birthday on 11th February so my dessert came with a happy birthday in chocolate and a candle, if you are ever in Dunster definitely visit for a Top Class meal.

Well! What a find! Great ambience, terrific menu choices and amazing quality food! Very well presented too. The staff were wonderful, didn't make us feel rushed and made the whole experience event better. Will defitnely visit again when we're next in the area. We eat out a lot and this is certainly in our Top 5!

“We booked a table for 10 to celebrate 2 birthdays. Sure enough, we reserved via email (prompt reply & confirmation!) On arrival, 2 hosts took away our coats and ushered us to the table (although they could have simply pointed out where it was as the restaurant is not very big). They allowed us to settle in with some drinks before checking when we were ready for the starters. They also enquired about how we preferred our steak and other dishes to be cooked, catering to everyone’s preferences! All three courses and side orders were presented beautifully and were obviously fresh and very tasty! I was rather appalled to read other reviews with silly and hard-to-believe claims of poor service or food quality. Two of our guests only dine out at Michelin restaurants, and they were very impressed with the service and food quality they found in a tiny place like Dunster! Hats off and many thanks to the staff and kitchen team! Everything was of great quality and service from start to finish. Sadly, we may not be able to return as often as we’d like, as we live 1.5 hours away, but the journey and experience tonight were well worth it! Don’t be put off by ruthless reviews or anything less than perfect! We came here for my partners birthday meal whilst visiting for the weekend. The food and its presentation was excellent. We really felt the service was top drawer. Would recommend to anyone if in the area.

One of the best friendliest and accommodating restaurants in the area

Absolutely superb meal on Tuesday the 9th of January, our wedding anniversary. I had soup and chicken, my wife had Lemon sole and a desert. All impeccable, I cannot think of experiencing a better meal in our 54 years of married life !!

Wonderful atmosphere, we went on a cold evening between xmas and new year and it was snug and cosy. The food was amazing and the cocktails are highly recommended (especially the Dryad Gin based ones!) . Great service and all round a fab meal in a brilliant setting. Absolutely amazing. The service to food and atmosphere is at such a high standard yet still feels personal and family oriented. There was such intricate care in quality and presentation of the food, each plate feels like it has been personally made just for you and ‘not another diner’. I also have to mention the creativity that has gone into making the beautiful plates with these incredible flavours along with the hospitality is what sets this restaurant aside from others. Overall the experience was just amazing, and I hope this review can really stress how wonderful the restaurant is- from the hospitality from staff, the creativity and cooking from the chefs and the amazing owners. Sometimes you can't express how much you enjoyed this dining experience, it was so lovely. We came to see friends and enjoy the charms of Dunster. We did not expect to find ourselves in such a friendly, unassuming environment. Table at the window, festive decorations, beautiful food, and the dog was allowed in too.

Beautiful place. The whole experience was excellent. I am gluten free the chef totally accommodated me and adapted the menu for me. Instead of just eliminating the food I could not eat they made me it gluten free, even had a mince pie with my coffee. Thank you Justin and Claire

Went for Dunster by candlelight and had the wonderful set menu which did not disappoint and was fabulous. There was 6 of as a a family and everyone was attentive and wonderful staff and Claire the owner was amazing and spoke to us all and loved Nelson our sons dog . An absolutely wonderful place. In terms of the food, the wine, the service and the atmosphere, this is one of the best restaurants in England. I’ve had the tremendous good fortune to dine in Buckingham Palace, 10 Downing Street and the House of Lords (no reflection on me, it went with the job) but I’d genuinely choose Reeves over all of them.

Went to Dunster by candlelight ,booked to have dinner at Reeves .Food was fantastic ,service efficient ,with a lovely warm humour .Will most definitely be back ,thank you for a lovely start to xmas

First of all we must say the sirloin of beef for sunday lunch was excellent ,well cooked pink beef perfect with plentiful vegetables. The prawn cocktail was less amazing lacking sauce. We are dog owners but whimpering dogs not so great when eating ,especially having experiencing same smelly canines at another establishment. However not to say we did enjoy our food and will return.

Disappointed. We’ve visited on a number of occasions over the last few years, but this time was below par. My wife’s lamb was poorly cooked with some of the rack tough, this was fed back to the chef. Also put off by owners dogs being let into the restaurant and pestering at the tables….unacceptable to assume (or even contemplate) that everyone (or anyone) visiting your restaurant wants the attention of dogs!! We were staying nearby for a few days and booked a table for dinner on the basis of the good reviews. I'm glad to say that our experience was similar to many others. It was excellent and we ended up going back the following day to try more of the menu! The food was extremely tasty, carefully prepared and service was friendly, helpful and professional. The atmosphere was quite cosy and intimate, yet relaxed. Good for couples, families and small groups. And it's dog friendly. Definitely a place to go and relax and enjoy your meal. A good selection of sensibly priced wines and what looked like a very nice courtyard garden (although we didn't explore it) all added to the experience. If I could give 10 stars I would! This is one of my favourite restaurants in the UK. My first time here whilst visiting luxborough nearby. The restaurant is so cosy, dim lighting, plush furnishings. The staff are attentive, welcoming and the service outstanding. Claire and Donna went above and beyond! The food was exceptional. I had the pasta dish but my friends had lamb and steak. All 3 courses were amazing and delicious. There is a huge choice of drinks and cocktails on offer too. Everything was perfect and I can't wait to visit again!! Absolutely superb dining experience. Thank you to Donna, Clare et al, for making my 50th birthday so very special. Scallops to start, the Lamb for my main and a treacle tartlette for dessert with an additional birthday surprise. They accommodated my daughter's special requirements and indulged me one of mine. This is something I'll not forget in a hurry, if ever. The staff go above and beyond with the bonus addition of three gorgeous spaniels who were super well-behaved. Highly recommended gold star!

I went here tonight with my parents for a bite to eat and I absolutely LOVED IT. The atmosphere was lovely, the staff were really nice and welcoming, and the food. Oh the food. I swear that if we lived in a world where metaphors were literal, I swear I felt myself ascending to the heavens. The steak I had was cooked beautifully, the dark chocolate and bourbon cheesecake was delicious, and the staff treated my mother a late happy birthday dessert written in chocolate with strawberries!
