Redgate Steak & Alehouse in Hinckley and Bosworth

Had another great experience at this pub. Staff looked after us really well and the food was excellent. Never had a bad meal here. Such a great pave with a good atmosphere

We had been told to try the ‘really round’ pies … we were intrigued! We took the advice and had an excellent lunch … pies, chips and veg were all very good. The pub was reasonably busy for a mid week lunch time but the service was prompt and good. The pies were definitely winners … nice pastry, well filled and plenty of gravy … would definitely be my choice on our next visit.

I strongly advise NOT to go the red gate for any food, we went yesterday for an early Mother’s Day meal and was sat in the window seat at the front of the pub. Our scallops come out and they were raw inside and not cooked, which we could get over but then my 3 year old was eating her burger and chips had a few chips then said mummy, daddy there’s a lady bug in my dinner we thought she’s thinking the tomato sauce we placed on her plate might be confusing her as kids with imaginations etc, then she said mummy it’s moving look I looked down and there was a lady bud INSIDE her chip, so I very quietly and politely went to the bar and told the man serving I’m so sorry but my daughters got a bug in her food, he grabbed the plate and stared at it the manger came over his response was “we’ll it didn’t come from our kitchen did it” I was in utter shock. I said it’s irrelevant if it’s came from your kitchen or not there is still a bug inside my child’s dinner who now is crying and doesn’t want it. Obviously we didn’t want to order her anything else as she now didn’t want to eat anything at all. So I’m stood at the bar and there whispering and moaning about us so I walk back to my table really upset and ten minutes later some young boy walks over and said do you want your refund then? I said yes of course we do. There was no apology no nothing. I’m a small business owner myself and have never and would never complain or send food back but to be spoken to and made to feel like we had done something wrong is truly disgusting. Then when I think it couldn’t get much worse the young man said yeah we get loads of bugs and lady bugs come through the windows where your sat? So you’ve clearly had this problem before and still sat us there? Why? We then got completely ignored for the remaining of the meal and felt like we were villains it was horrendous customer service and the food was awful. Stay well away I’ll happily come in and teach you all some customer service skills or hold a class as none of you clearly know how to address complaints or customers in the correct and professional Manner. Disgusted. If I could leave a minus one I would.

I have been the royal redgate 2 or 3 times now with my partner and as a large family and each time has been such a lovely time and great food! We were welcomed into the restaurant and sat, it was a lovely atmosphere. Staff were friendly and helpful with any questions. The food was gorgeous!!!!! Drinks were nice and refreshing! We spoke to 2 members of staff as they were both polite and helpful. I will be going again and I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone whether it’s a family meal out, business meal or an event I’m sure they hire out areas!

Regularly attend the Royal Redgate for business meals with customers and members of staff, not had a bad meal once. The pies are delicious and I have made my way through every sort (other than the vegetarian one). Staff always polite and friendly. Highly recommend even if just passing through along the A5.

Amazing roast - excellent value for money. I had the chicken roast and everything was perfection. By far the best roast in the area.

Firstly, We ordered the scratchings, and the burnt belly pork ends from the nibbles section on the menu. Both seemed an interesting option and not usual starters, so we were interested to see what was going to arrive. How disappointing! The scratchings were disgusting, just totally inedible, and pork ends were 75% fat. No waiter approached our table to check if the food was ok, I had to call for one, and there was no apology or understanding. Eventually, after prompting, our mains arrived. My partner had the surf and turf with fillet steak. The surf element consisted of 4 prawns, which we felt was a small portion. Overall, he felt the meal was ok, it was basic, which is a shame when it cost £36 for the steak dish. My meal was ok but no vegetables accompanied my meal so it was basic for the price. Overall, the service was extremely slow, we even had to prompt for the bill and then again to actually pay. They did take off the nibble starters from the bill, but only when we said we were not prepared to pay for them.

We had the beef pie which comes with a deep and rich jus. My wife and I loved the pies so much we ordered a bulk quantity (as a a take out) , so I can take them to up my family in North Yorkshire, as they all want some pies after hearing me rave about them. . Had a really great lunch at the Redgate! Food, service and ambience perfect 😀. Opted for the steak pie which was the best pie I’ve ever tasted! My friend had a steak and blue cheese panini and she said that was a taste sensation! We will be back soon 👍

I’ve been a few times over the past 6 months, and can safely say that there’s a reason why I go back each time, the food is very good. Had a scotch egg to start with a chicken pie as a main, girlfriend had garlic bread to start and veg pie as a main. Scotch egg was very good indeed and the pies are on another level. Had great service as standard. Will definitely be back again soon.

Took my grandparents out for dinner on Thursday, I recommended the pies as I know this place is known for them. The service was quick and the food tasty. One of the best pies my grans eaten. Even with a large party the atmosphere wasn’t affected. Unfortunately we weren’t offered any more drinks, I assume this was because it was very busy. However the bar tender was very friendly and soon got us our drinks

Terrible food. Sharer not as described on menu. Served 2 lots of pate which was supposed to be hock ham not another type of pâté. Steak was fatty and cold. Service was slow. When we complained the manager wasn’t particularly bothered and didn’t do much to help. Came away feeling hungry and that would be the last time we would eat there. £120 paid for 3 people. Now got to go home to prepare something else to eat.

THE most delicious pies. We pop into the Redgate as often as we can. This great little pub is local to us and is a fab cosy "go to". After a busy day working outside in the cold, a warm welcome early doors with delicious pie and chips is all you need. Oh and the bottle of wine included on "Pie Night". We've also loved the take home option where you cook the pies yourself. A family favourite.
