Hi this is our goto takeaway and Indian restaurant. Have used red spice for many years always helpful and especially has my wife has dietary problems.

Great food. Great service by Ash. We really enjoyed our visit. The Biritani was exceptional. We will be back the next time we are here.

We have visited a lot of Indian restaurants in the valleys, and came across this one by chance. We now visit this one every week without fail due to the outstanding flavours of the food, the cleanliness, and the professional friendly staff. Raj is an outstanding chef and the front of house team are helpful and genuine. I would highly recommend this place

What an absolute pig of a man ordered food came freezing nan bread as you can see by the picture burnt and dry not edible and when phoned to explain to be screamed at down the phone beware when ordering what a vile man

I ordered food delivery driver stated he finally found the property food came stone cold naan bread harder than a brick phoned up to just share that the food was terrible to be screamed at over the phone by a staff member

Food was lovely just didn't appreciate the uneasy atmosphere created by the staff and the rudeness of the staff when asking about dessert I've never felt so uncomfortable having food at a restaurant ever and I definitely won't be going back here made the whole family feel uneasy and on edge

We were so disappointed with the service we received last night. We were booked in at 7pm left at 10pm . The service was shocking , drinks we had to ask for 3 times and still waited 40 minutes to receive them. Food waited 2 hours , then it was wrong. It was a complete sham. They then charged my father in law three times and now waiting on two refunds off £166. 00 each payment. Which can take upto 3 days to go back into his account. I called the manager as soon as we got home to discuss as I did not want to make a scene in the restaurant and I was told the owner will contact me Sunday as too busy Saturday to ring me. I was flabbergasted at the level of bad service we received. We have been going there for years and never had problems like this when the old manager was running it. We were there on a special occasion as it was ruined. We even had the lights switched off in our room while eating . We were given a free nan bread, which was yet another mistake and brought by mistake ,30 minutes after the food and was not ordered and masala sauce . Which was all left . The food was lovely when it finally came out at all different times. We were all past food , by the time it arrived. It would have been quicker to order and delivered. Food so nice , customer service really let it down.

Waited 3 hours for.food and it was cold called restaurant and I was told it was due to rain been ordering from here for 3 years never again

If you're looking for attentive service then this is the place for you. Everyone couldn't do enough for us and were checking that we had absolutely everything! Everything we had was just spot on, I even felt comfortable to push the boat out and try something new which is not like me! Thank you for making us feel so comfortable and creating an amazing dining experience. Best in Merthyr!

Very good food and friendly staff

Well I'm not one to leave a negative review, but the way the establishment deliberately and with a calculated approach to virtually double the price of anything ordered off of the menu was disgusting. The bill when queried was snatched from my hand and when asked why a £7.95 curry was now £15.95, with a stuttering answer we were Informed it is Christmas and we were then not allowed to query anything further and also not allowed to scrutinise or view the bill. Very underhanded tactics indeed. Everyone has to pay bills including clients not just businesses. What should have been at most a £240 bill cost nearly £400. Stay away.

If there was -5 star I would have gave it. First thing we ordered soft drinks gave us plain freaking drink with no gas in it! And when we asked about it they were trying to joke about it. Service was so delayed never went to dinner got bored waiting for food. Food was lame on top use same gravy for all different types for curry. Naan bread was absolutely thin and dry in odd shape. Also out pf the fact you can only order once what you need and it wasn’t even closing time. Never tasted these type of Indian food. Wont go ever again!

Nice welcome but that where it ends. In all honesty we couldn't wait to leave . Felt like we were being watched from start to Finnish. Constant flow of staff back & fore to our table watching everything we were eating & drinking. At one point 2 members of staff leant over our table while we were eating, trying to grab bottles ,glasses, plates ect.. RUDE ! All in all a very uncomfortable experience & it was absolutely freezing in there. Definitely will not be returning.

Waited 3 hours for delivery and food never came! Rang to ask them where the food was the woman said the driver already left with it- 30 minutes later said they’ve just started cooking it. Told them I wasn’t happy as we’d been waiting all night. Another 40 minutes (they wernet picking up their phones) told me it’ll be another 20 minutes. Rang for a refund but the guy was asking for payment details again not refund details. Another 30 minutes on the phone and he finally figured out how to refund! Will not be ordering here again- they’ve had history going back 4 years of poor service and long delivery waits of up to 4 hours and they’re clearly not improving their standards.

Ordered a take away and it took 2 and a half hours to come. 3 missing items, food very underwhelming and a lack of flavour. Wont be going here again.

The food here is delicious, hats off to the chef, the meat was perfectly cooked and nice and tender and the sauce was incredibly tasty. The only criticism is that the restaurant was cold and it took nearly an hour for the food to come to the table and we were the only customers in the building, the lady who took payment from us after the meal seemed to be in a mood and wasn’t very friendly either, seemed to scoff that we were paying by card . Small things like that can easily put people off guys. Overall though you are delivering top quality food, I’m a satisfied customer 👍🏻

The best Indian food i have ever had

Ordered at 5:36 pm order didn't arrive until nearly 7pm.

After ordering take aways from Red Spice for a few years, we finally booked a table at the restaurant over the weekend and were not disappointed. The staff could not be more helpful and welcoming. The decor was beautiful and interesting, and the food was outstanding. I didn’t plan on eating as much as I did, and left feeling very full! We all throughly enjoyed our time there, including a family friend who is usually hard to please, and we plan on coming back in the near future. Really could not fault this place in any way, 10/10 and totally recommended!

Really nice find food was possibly the best curry iav ever had.

We got a takeaway from here on a Tuesday evening whilst on our holidays. First thing is they only have a 3 star food hygiene rating. If I had seen this before ordering I wouldn't have done. The food was ok,quite average. And they missed part of our order but we didn't notice until we unpacked it at home so too late to do anything about it. I guess they knew that which was why they weren't too hot on making sure our order was correct and complete. Honestly, I will look elsewhere in future.

Our first time going here, the food was served so fresh and so quick, no grease at all, so so tasty too it was just the best we will be getting our takeaway from here again it was just so amazing ❤️

Absolutely cracking place to eat. From the friendly servers to the quality and quantity of food. We had the Chicken Makhani, Chicken Tikka Masala with Mushrooms and a Chicken Korma with rice and garlic naan breads. Everything was great and piping hot. If you're looking for a sit down Curry in Merthyr Tydfil you really can't beat this place...

Wonderful place for a sit down meal. Food was hot and very tasty. Staff were all excellent and the whole experience was lovely. Highly recommended if you fancy a sit down meal with great service!

Ordered online a simple process, I chose to collect as I was in the area was given a warm welcome and offered a seat while I waited for my food, which as I had ordered online took only a few moments to arrive. I'd ordered a Tapali Ghosht, Chicken Tikka Chasni, Keema Nan and Pilau rice, The food was hot, tasty and the portion of rice generous, was very happy with my meal will definitely order again

Havent been here for quite a while but thought i would try a nice vindaloo to sweat it out and it was banging fariplay along with the garlic & corriander naan.. Would like to see some more regional dishes on the menu but 5* food that fairplay so Thank you 😋

My son goes to Army Cadets which is pretty much next door to Red Spice. As a result we have spent a lot of money with them. Tonight, I’m full, smart uniform my 14 year old son was bursting for a wee. He asked politely if he could use their loo and was asked to leave. My business and my family’s cash will never be spent in there again.

Great to see a bit of variety in the menu from most curry houses. Waiter was a bit cheeky on the upsell but that’s his job and it was good to have a little banter. Food great, decor in need of attention.

Food was ok tried something called 9 spice it wasn't something I normally try and wouldn't have it again. Just I like something with a bit more flavour. Starters were very tasty.

Arrived early so it was quite, service and food was very good. The restaurant I don't think had the heating on, but the spices soon warm you up , worth a vist.

If I could have given it no stars⭐️ I would have. Ordered a takeaway at 6.30 and told to collect at 7pm. Waited inside from 7pm until 7.35 watching people walking in and ordering at the counter and having their food before me. Spoke to staff who didn’t really care at all. Used this place for years but this is my last.

Completely shockingWaited 2 hours for delivery chips were cold rang them 78 times to see where food was but no answer will be on my black list from now on why they have a phone number is beyond me as they never answer appalling service

Food was hot, but I’ve never had a Korma that doesn’t taste of coconut before! The best part in my view. I think they must have run out or forgotten to put any in! Tasteless and won’t order again.

The worst Indian food. The Indian masala tea was green tea instead of real tea. Being an Indian, I am not happy with taste, food, and tea. They have given hand written invoice and added £10 extra to cheat customers

Delivery time awful. If you ring up to query, rude staff just tell you another half hour then offer to cancel your order, even though you’ve been waiting an hour and a half already. Obviously hadn’t starting cooking it so either not fresh or lies. Avoid at all costs. Real shame as raj and Abdul well respected in Merthyr until recent years. Disappointing.

Omg first time eating from red spice and can honestly say it did not disappoint. We usually have a mango house but wanted to try somewhere different. Their garlic rice was to die for! 😋 amazing food and delivery was right on time. Will definitely be having from there more often 😃

Excellent food but!!!! The attitude of the cleaning/ supplying guy was indeed pathetic ! He bends and bows before the white customers as a slave and immediately turns in to be a master when dealing with the people of asia! Just confronted him asking who he’s and what he thinks of actions, all of sudden he turned to be a humble sheep. His face turned red when four of us asked three drinks and was scoffing. Just gave a piece of advice at the end😂 he was such meek and humble

Visting with friends mid week meal... Lovely fresh tasty food, plesant tempo of service and attention to the table. All round great dining experience Ash was particularly fabulous

Shocking, food 2 hours late and when it arrived it was the wrong order.. Will Not be eating there again

Always seems to be very hit and miss at this place, the last time we ordered was earlier this week and it was very much a miss to the point that we won't order from there again. Almost an hour after the stated delivery time we were still waiting and when we tried calling them numerous times to find out where it was they would not answer the calls. When the food finally arrived it was cold and pretty much tasteless to the point where it was wasted.

Nice food but very slow service and was charged £10 for Poppadoms 🧐 Tasty sauces but small portions. Not enough ingredients (hardly any chicken etc) in the curry. Just comparing this to all other curry houses where you normally have a generous portion Main issue...

The staff were curt, hardly acknowledged myself or my friends. Initially I had tried to book online but it didn't seem to work. After a very confusing phone call I managed to book a table. On arrival the front of house team were very snippy...

The food was the only positive of visiting this restaurant. The staff were slow and rude. There was one staff member that was okay but we were served by around 4 different staff members. The toilets needed updating and maybe some door handles that were not too close to the wall. Overall it was such a shame as food was relatively tasty.

Take away delivered in reasonable time. Ordered 3 main dishes one of which the container was just half full. Rang to query this and tried to fob me off by saying I'd ordered a side dish. Paid main course price. Poor attitude. Pretended to care...

The Red spice is amazing. Celebrate my daughter's 43rd birthday this evening and had an absolutely amazing time. The staff were wonderful and the food oh my God I loved everything. We regularly enjoy fabulous food from here but just had my son pick up onion bhaji and pakora and absolutely awful , bhaji were incinerated and chicken had bits of grizzle. Hope this is a one off.
