Red Rose Tandoori in Islington

Terrible. Food burnt and all ice cream options were unavailable except conveniently the vanilla ice cream that tasted like the cheapest branded version in a supermarket. We ordered a lot of food and were so disappointed. Onion bhajis were black golf balls and I can't be bothered to list the rest. Not worth any money.

I enjoyed my food and had a nice time. Good local option, I’ll go again and will try them for takeaway.

We had a fantastic experience at Rose Tandoori. The food was top rate as always and excellent, friendly service. The Chicken Tikka Massala medium spicy is to die for and Tarla Dhal is yummy!! Highly recommend and we will be back soon!

I cannot speak more highly regarding this restuarant. I odered my dinner at 5PM and it was delivered at 6PM, properly packed and hot when it arrived. The prices are most reasonable and the food delicious .

This is a stalwart restaurant of Upper Holloway (did you know The Darkness once dined here?!) and I hope it never goes.. the service is shocking (I don't think they ever want people to come in and even when they do it's likely to be the only table occupied!) and I think they're genuinely scared of walk-ins. Every time I've been it's been a shock to them that anyone would. The delivery riders are quite busy though, which should tell you something... ... the food is amazing!!! So it's basically your British Indian favourites. You won't be surprised. The normal balti, tikka masala and vindaloo type things. But they are all supremely prepared. Poppadoms and chutneys great, too. The wine was decent (but, hey, it's British Indian: what do you expect?!). Cobra or Kingfisher also available, of course! Toilet decent enough. But ... It's really cheap. Really decent and tasty comfort food this good at these prices (£40 for two with a bottle of wine,) doesn't come around that often. I'll come back again. And again. And again.

Takeaway took 1hour and 20 mins to come and when it did the food was cold and the popadom and naan was soggy not very pleased

Avoid avoid avoid!!! What a terrible experience, I ordered: onion bhaji, chicken madras, pilau rice, garlic naan, poppadoms and a beer. The chicken was extremely dry, I would estimate the chicken had been sitting there probably days for it to be this dry, my garlic naan was cold and my rice was basic. The atmosphere was non existent, no music, no ambiance just staff talking very loudly in there language. Throughout my meal I was constantly hurried up, even though I made it clear I was fine. It got to a point where I actually asked "are you closing?" Because I felt very rushed even though there was two hours before closing time. The man serving me was very rude and emotionless and took away plates I was still clearly eating from without asking! It's a shame none of these staff did any training on customer service before opening a restaurant. There was a lady waiting for a collection order and once she had received it and was walking out the door, she smiled nicely at me and said "bon appetite" that was the highlight of my dinner and I was very thankful that there are some kind people out there, to at least recognise it doesn't cost anything to be kind! Needless to say I won't be returning!

Disappointed to say the least. Firstly when I do order from here they put the delivery time 2 hours later then when it does come it's not even your order. I only order cos it's cheap but they definitely lack basic understanding cos how can you get an order completely wrong. It's only 10 mins from me as well why does it take so long you are never busy?

Came her to dine recently and as we stepped in i found an old South Asian ambience, reminiscent of my childhood. The food was excellent and I must say the skeek kebabs were superb, I would highly recommend this place for a nice quaint dinner.

Was okay at first, but was disappointed at the end. I was delivered the wrong order at first, but still was required to pay the full amount for the order I originally placed over the phone. They claimed it was a misunderstanding. After I attempted to order the same order as compensation free of charge, I was charged another additional fee for it. Even they halved the price, I ended up paying much more than I should have. Will not be ordering or buying from this place again. Choose another restaurant that respect their customers/regulars and investments.

Ordered directly from here for a takeaway and wasn't disappointed. Tasty food! We had curry and roti for two and we were given free bombay potatoes. Very generous with the popadoms too. Only reason I won't give 5 stars is I like my curry with a lot of sauce for dipping, but it was loaded full of vegetables instead. Very nice though I will order from you again, thank you!

We often come here for curry. They are a local favourite for us! We usually have veggie or vegan options and always happy with our order both eating in and for take away. We will definitely be here again soon… 🌹 😃

Small takeaway on NYE. Really underwhelming. The food probably tasted good when it was cooked several hours ago but it arrived cold. Samosas really small too. May eat in but won't order takeaway from here again.

What a total find the Red Rose has been during this period... some of the best Indian food I've eaten in London, not to mention how good value it is. I've only used their take-away service so far, and have always collected in person, so can't comment on delivery, but the staff are very friendly, and the food is always ready in good time/piping hot. Really recommend it.

My favourite Indian restaurant. It has the best veggie dishes you can find and I've been a repeat customer for ages. My go to, cannot recommend enough.

Food ok but if you want it anytime soon order it 3 hours before. Past few times ordering through just eat and their website, it has taken 2.5 - 3 hours to arrive. It then only does show up after about 5 times calling them. We have now learnt from our mistake and will be finding a new Indian restaurant.

Mixed tandoori : was quite put off as first mouthful was a complete fried chicken foot - I thought tandoori should be oven baked meat, not deep fried grissle. I did find some flavored dry stuff that seemed to be chicken but very dry, a bit like I would imagine eating 1 yr old leather shoe would be. Lamb was very tough. The naan bread dough could have actually been put in an oven at some point. Quite unimpressive. Would recommend the place buy some better quality ingredients and revise how they spice them. To end on a good point the free poppadom was excellent, and at least the salad was not badly cooked.

¡Me encantó la comida para llevar que obtuve de aquí! El menú es simple y no es interminable como lo encuentras en muchos restaurantes. Los precios son muy buenos (especialmente en esta área) y Just Eat ofrece una reducción adicional del 20% los martes. El cordero era un cordero tierno tandoori aderezado con especias, ¡se olvidó de lo bueno que es cuando está bien cocido! Complete farce that it took over two hours to get our order, I wouldn't mind usually, but it's the fact we called up and got told it would be 30 mins, called 40 mins later, and got told another 30 mins.

Ordered online, restaurant was 600m from address and it took them 3.5hrs to do and for the wromg order to be delivered. After all the waiting it would have been ok if the food they gave us was good....... it wasn’t. I recommend ordering at lunchtime if you maybe want dinner.

Curry was awful, the muglai was super sweet and the butter chicken which looked like it had came from the same pot (same yellow colour) was even sweeter... virtually inedible - and I like sweet things! Ended up having to throw out the butter chicken for a bag of crisps instead... Not often I'd give a bad review on a takeaway but this was not good. Sorry.

Excellent food here wide range to choose from. Very busy place might need to book in advance to make sure you have a table. But worth the wait, meals are plentiful.

Attentive staff and food is delicious it can't be coincidence that it has had faithful, returning customers for more than 3 decades. A traditional Indian restaurant that does traditional dishes very well.

Just avoid that place. It will ruin your day. Ordered saying 20min delivery and it took 95min, just not acceptable. Food was okay, not delicious not bad.

Had a family meal this evening. 7 of us in total. Food was exceptional. Staff were friendly and helpful and patient. Excellent overall. Highly recommended.

Todo estaba delicioso, especialmente el naan (tanto simple como ajo). El servicio fue de primera categoría y todo tiene un precio muy razonable. I ordered yesterday through JustEat and my order was delayed by 40 minutes without even telling me. I tried contacting within that time whilst waiting and the line was continuously engaged. When the food finally arrived with this restaurants driver giving excuse about restaurant being busy. I went to dish up the dinner and could see all water on top and underneath of each dish. I felt it and everything was stone cold so that tells me my order had been sitting there for the 40 minutes before they even attempted delivering. It was so late so I contacted Just Eat this morning to tell them that the food was so late and cold and they asked as per their policy that I contact the restaurant to ask them to contact JustEat so they could process a refund. I contacted this restaurant about 45 minutes ago to explain everything and spoke to the manager who was extremely rude and refused to ring JustEat and just wanted to send free food. Why would I want more food from a restaurant like this. He was shouting down the phone at me saying “you ring not in my business time” and when I asked when he just said “you just ring as it’s your responsibility”. How rude!! Well I can tell you I’m pretty sure it’s your responsibility as a restaurant manager to understand a customers complaint. I contacted Just Eat again who have now just processed a refund for me so I never have to deal with the rude manager/owner of this terrible establishment. We was loyal customers of these but they just lost customer from here and anyone I know. Anyone thinking about ordering from here think again. Learn some basic customer service skills!

Have had delivery orders from here over the past two weekends, I thought the food was amazing the first weekend only to be surpassed last weekend how that was possible I don't know but it was even better, short idea of what I ordered, chicken tikka & massala, chicken tikka tiger, bombay aloo, rice and bread, and Atlantic prawn cocktail, few other sundries as well

I had finished playing football with some of my pals and it was pretty late - we were very happy this place was open. The food is really delicious, the staff are super friendly and for what we got the price was amazing.

The Sunday buffet is excellent. Eat as much as you want for £9.95 and I would highly recommend it. The waiting staff are very attentive and friendly. I go every week and the food is delicious! The hygiene standards at this restaurant are now excellent as The Red Rose is now under new management.

This restaurant runs a buffet on Sunday. Eat as much as you want for £9.95. It is under new management and this is evident by the cleanliness. The staff is friendly and the wind is good. I would strongly recommend this restaurant for Sunday lunch. I really enjoyed my food here today! Please note that this restaurant is now under new management and there priority is not only good food but cleanliness. This is the cleanest I have ever seen this restaurant. Well done to the new owners.

This is a good local Indian restaurant. You won't get high cuisine, but you will get quality food that won't cost a fortune. It has an impressive selection of dishes, the service is good and the prices are very reasonable. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a good curry. Update: I think this place has changed hands. Last time I went the food was nowhere near as good as it used to be - everything we ordered seemed to taste the same. I previously gave it 5 stars but am now changing my rating.

Worst place ever I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy the foods ransid and stale and the staff have the worst attitude ever star clear of this place or learn the hard way.

Dined in on Friday with 4 of my friends and I must say I was very impressed. The food was amazing and could not find a fault. We especially enjoyed the chicken muglai and chicken tikka masala it was perfect. The service was incredible aswell and waiters were very polite and helpful in dealing with my allergies and in recommending dishes. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a authentic Indian restaurant. The restaurant was also very clean and looked amazing and was very cheap. I will definitely be back!!

it was horrible never again (you learn) The curry sauces were made with what only can be described as a cook in sauce variety full of watery juice with no taste or spice, sort of thing you might be served in a cheap cafe/hotel. i lived in india for a while these guys just get worse, curry is now hard to find in london but this place takes the biscuit... if you something authentic go somewhere else. 20 years this place was alright

Best curry we've had in 3 years! Returned home from Oz for chrimbo and took in a Gunners match. Needed some dinner and stumbled across Red Rose Tandoori and what a lucky find! From the moment we were greeted at the door, the service was faultless, attentive and polite. All the staff were lovely with our family. As for the food, our prawn puri starters were delicious and brought back happy memories of of travels in India. The chicken korma was divine as was the king prawn bhuna and lamb pathia. All had individual flavors and qualities. My keema Naan was soft and full of juicy lamb. Sure the decor is standard curry house, but that's part of the appeal. Bloody good value for superb food... The place is clearly very popular for takeaway deliveries even on a Tuesday night. Thank you Red Rose.
