Really enjoyed our trip here. It was very unique with great attention to detail both in the food and the interior. I felt a bit of zen. The drive out is unusual and interesting but really interesting to see the use of fresh ingredients picked straight from the garden and amazingly presented food with companion tea to try. Vegan and gluten free options. We had a laugh with our server. Very welcoming, and well recommended.

We are what you would call 'foodies'. An essential part of any holiday for us is the food. Our meal at Chidakasha was the best we ate in Skye - even better than the Three Chimneys (rated in the top 100 in the UK) where we also ate - it was one of those rare things; a meal to remember. The food was fresh - we saw some of it being delivered from the garden opposite. The flavours beautifully balanced and exciting, with a unique use of fresh herbs, salad leaves and the odd beautiful flower.

Wow we were blown away by this little restaurant whilst on our honeymoon in Skye. We were driving past and saw their sign on the road as it was teaming it down with rain. We had our dog with us so wasn’t sure if we would be allowed in- but we were! The owner has a real talent as all the food was incredibly fresh and fragrant. My husband said the sticky toffee pudding was the best he ever had! We will definitely be back if we are ever in the area again.

Had an evening meal here which we booked the same day. Wonderful, quiet and calm atmosphere with lovely decor. The food was South Asian themed at the time, with dhal, lentil soup and spiced potatoes. All the dishes were flavoursome and fragrant. There are lots of teas to choose from and all beautifully served. The service from Petra was so nice and welcoming. I cannot recommend this place enough and it is well worth the drive, not far from Dunvegan or Neist Point.

We accidentally stumbled upon this little place after seeing the sign from the main road, and weren't sure what to expect....but we were completely blown away. This is the most beautiful little place, so stylish inside, beautifully finished, and the owner Petra is simply wonderful. So calm, polite and attentive, and the tea, soup and cakes were some of the best we have ever eaten. It felt like we sat in heaven for an hour, any worries we had drifted away as we sat and enjoyed the wonderful food and drinks and soaked up the serene atmosphere. If you go anywhere near this area, please try to visit this wonderful little place, you won't be disappointed.

We were recommended to try this place by another cafe owner on Skye, so thought that was a pretty solid reason to try it. We were welcomed with a smile and given friendly and efficient service throughout. We were not disappointed by the lovely lunch served to us. The lunch platter, with a delicious spicy potato and cabbage stew, daal and fresh, crisp salad leaves, was excellent as was the beetroot and buckwheat salad. A blueberry and cashew cream tart was pronounced delicious and I enjoyed a generous piece of lightly spiced apple and cinnamon cake. There is an almost bewildering range of teas, two of which were tried by my wife, whilst I fed my caffeine addiction with a cafetière of Brazilian coffee. Highly recommended, even if, like me, you are a dedicated carnivore!

We had read wonderful reviews so we headed over to the Red Roof Cafe for a late lunch. We were able to get a table right away, but I can see why some may wait, as the restaurant is quite small. Everything looks fresh and clean and the music playing was so peaceful and relaxing. There were three offerings on the lunch menu, and the three of us each chose one. Afghan brown lentil and butternut squash soup, roasted beetroot and buckwheat salad, and the lunch plate which consisted of moong dal, courgette and tomato stew and a salad. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented, and the breads were amazing! Of course we had to try three teas and shared a pistachio cake and a sticky ginger and cardamom spice cake. I want to buy a house up the road so I can eat here every day. No, really! ; ) Thank you, Petra! Keep traveling the world and bringing back delicious teas and recipes for us.

This may have been the best meal experience of our trip. The food was interesting and creative, the service totally gracious. Parsley soup was superb ( who knew??), delicious chicken, great cheeses and an extraordinary light trifle dessert (I usually hate trifle). Everything was totally fresh from the garden or the farmyard. The wine list was small but terrific, we learned about new wines we had never tasted before. The whole idea is that the menu is decided on by the croft owners depending on what is available on the day, and all guests are asked to arrive before 7:30 so everyone can be served at the same time. So pleased we were told about the newly re-opened red Roof when we were on Skye and managed to book a table. I love the ideals of the Red Roof, sourcing food as locally as possible, the eggs we ate were from chickens roaming the croft across the road, and the chard in the main course had been picked a couple of hours before it was cooked. Loved the use of sorrel too both in the soup and as a granita in the dessert. Everything was so tasty, including the optional cheese course, which introduced me to some delicious Scottish cheese. There is no molecular gastronomy here, no fads or gimmicks with dry ice - just genuinely good tasty cooking, done brilliantly well in a tiny kitchen and service area. Everyone is so friendly, and I loved we were told about the food as it was served. It is a fixed menu, but Gareth accommodates dietary requests made in advance (I had a vegetarian main on a night when venison was being served, and my soup was made with a different stock). Everyone is served at the same time - but there is no rush and everything was very relaxed. The building is super cute too, a tiny old white washed croft building with tables for about 20 people. Even the crockery is lovely!

The cooking is imaginative and the flavours excellent. Petri has chosen a short but interesting wine list and we were spoilt for choice. Cheese gougeres for nibbles with pre dinner drinks, then a starter of egg and chard terrine encased in pastry was really tasty. We then moved on to venison stew topped with clapshot (mashed potato and swede), which was tender and melted in the mouth. An optional course of Scottish cheese with home made oatcakes was great and we finished with an iced rhubarb parfait which was the perfect way to end this excellent meal. Loved this place. It is very remote and you wouldn't know what a treasure it is from the outside. Just a cute little white cottage with a red roof. When you walk in there is a modern interior with beautiful artwork and delicious smells. The menu is quite different, consisting mostly of platters. I had the garden platter which was a delicious combination of dips, soup, salad and home made bread. The staff are lovely too. It is definitely worth seeking this place out.

The ingredients used were amazing. We had the cheese platter for 2, they gave us extra bread too! Even the side salad tasted absolutely lush. I had my first coffee with no sugar as it was made so well. The cake was moist and full of flavour, and im a fussy cake eater as I have a family cake business. Couldn't recommend it more!

Been looking forward to visiting the Red Roof Cafe whilst on holiday on Skye . It is as other reviewers have said, a bit off the beaten track, but the reward is worth it. I had the vegetarian platter for lunch , followed by a scrummy chocolate and orange cake. My husband had the cheese platter. Both were delicious. One of the highlights was the fennel seed bread. They bake their own breads and seems to have a special every day. It is a small place, but imaculate inside, and the staff are very helpful and friendly. Just wish it were closer to home. They really do prove that ethically produced food produced in a sustainable way is delicious. Will return when next visiting the area without a doubt!

The Red Roof Cafe is not to be missed. It is in a beautiful location and do not be put off by the drive along the single track road; it is well worth finding. The food is home or locally produced and is delicious. There are good vegetarian and vegans options. The service is friendly and efficient. A lovely place to find after a trip out to Neist Point.

Cameriere molto cortese, bella esperienza.

Lovely views but even better food. The platter and lobster salad was stunning whilst the coffee is one of the best I have ever tasted. It is a shame we aren't locals!

Great choices of freshly baked cakes. Also savoury options. Up a narrow track with a small parking area so to be avoided by camper vans.

This beautifully located little cafe/gallery/coffee shop has been one of my favourite features of Skye and would repay anybody a visit. Bread and cakes are baked on the premises and I was lucky enough to have a cinnamon roll straight from the oven on one visit which was a little piece of heaven. The coffee was gorgeous and kept me coming back at every opportunity. The lunch menu is delicious, generous and determinedly local with some impressive daily specials...I am still regretting not going for the lobster and crab. I wholeheartedly recommend this cafe - don't miss it! Oh yes, I forgot to say: such warm, friendly and welcoming staff too, they were the touch that made each visit extra special.

Been before, not disappointed. Arrived just after opening and the bread and scones were still being baked fresh. The cheese scone with Crowdie and Onion Marmalade was superb and so was the coffee which has to be the very best espresso I have ever had. These folk know their coffee and they know how to cook. The only thing missing to take away was a recipe book of Red Roof Cafe favourites! Thanks guys!
