Food delicious, very reasonable prices, service just a bit slow. 15 minutes for drinks order to arrive isn't great. Ate scallops and lamb.

Excellent service with very good food. Extremely uncomfortable chairs in the middle of the restaurant. If you visit fairly often it is surprising that the short menu hardly ever changes, which is a pity.

This was one of the best 3 course meals I have had. Each dish was bursting with flavour with sensible sized portions. The hake was on pickled fennel which paired superbly with the prawn in pasta. The rhubarb was amazing. I will difinitely be back for the food. Sadly the edge was taken off the perfection by the 10% service charge added to the bill (our dinner was included in our room rate but the 10% service charge was not) and the service itself was a bit patchy. I just hope the chefs got part of the service charge

20th anniversary dinner. Found service very slow. Especially drinks. Drinks order taken well before starter , but starters came before drinks. Had to ask again for drinks. On ordering second drink round , 30 minutes later I was told , after asking again , there was a back up at the bar. Food. Lamb starter excellent, cheese for desert excellent. Main of Sirloin beef was very tough. Should have sent it back , but out for a relaxing , lovely evening with my wife so kept quiet. I will however vote with my wallet and not go back.

Lovely location, lovely restaurant , food and service the only disappointing criticism was the 10% undisclosed service charge applied on everything- even drinks in the bar such a shame as we do not have a problem giving a tip it's the principle

The most delicious meal to start 2023, the staff were absolutely lovely and the sesame sponge cake was the nicest cake I’ve ever had

My husband and I enjoyed the prix fix menu at the Rampsbeck while visiting Ullswater. Everything was prepared well and with creativity and excellent flavor!

Fabulous Breakfast Buffet and equally excellent Dinner Menu. The restaurant is spacious with great views of the garden and Ullswater. A really excellent experience.

We booked here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The food was good , but the service felt rushed- no opportunity for a leisurely meal. Worst of all, I ordered a cointreau with no ice, but it was served with ice. When I pointed this out, they simply took it away and fished out the ice! V obvious as the ice makes the cointreau cloudy. Not what you expect in a high class restaurant. It felt like a conveyor belt, rather than an intimate special occasion.

Visited for an impromptu evening meal. Fantastic food, wonderful setting, impeccable and friendly service from our sever, Daniel. The best evening we’ve had during our stay.

Delicious food and attentive, professional staff. Covid safety regulations were adhered to throughout. We ate here twice during our stay at Another Place; I'm vegetarian and there were plenty of options for me for both breakfast and dinner. The space itself is airy and bright with great views.

Amazing food! Scallops and fillet of beef were absolutely delicious and the staff were brilliant. Worth a visit!

Really excellent fixed price dinner menu. Lamb fritter was a delicious starter, the halibut was very good but it was the apricot desert that was sublime.

Lovely food well served and cooked, but unfortunately it took an hour before any food got served to us at all and dinner service dragged on ... we were offered two baskets of bread to tide us over but we wanted our dinner! At the moment they clearly need more staff in the kitchen.

We arrived early and sat outside in the stunning grounds with pre drinks.... Make sure u do this when u go.... The staff were fabulous and attentive. Our waiter, Mark (tall lad) did the hotel proud. He's everything you hope for in a place like this. Friendly, polite, relaxed and efficient, a credit to the place. Our dishes were cooked beautifully and we took coffees in the lounge later to cap off a fabulous evening. The Ullswater View Hotel recommended we came here, which was typical of how all these businesses seen to look out for each other

Was above my expectations, food is fantastic, absolutely delicious and the whole menu is beautiful. The service was wonderful, the staff was fantastic.

Food was lovely but might not be enough for bigger appetites. Lots of local ingredients used. Lovely breakfasts. Service on occasions slightly disorganised but nothing serious.

We were booked on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis and the hotel had already made dinner reservations for us prior to arrival. I wouldn’t normally opt for a 3 course dinner but the choice and quality of food were both outstanding. Service was slightly slower than I’d expect but they were busy and it did force us to take a break between courses.

Pleasant place to eat despite poor service. We only were given our aperitif seconds before the first course arrived. The explanation was that a beer had to be brought from another bar. This needs to be sorted out.The food was good, well served and enjoyed. I felt the ambiance was very much like an old-fashioned kitchen.

Sin duda un bonito comedor, con preciosas vistas al lago. El servicio fue lento, y algunos miembros del personal no parecían muy seguros de lo que estaban haciendo. La comida era bastante buena, comenzando con buñuelos de rabo de buey muy sabrosos seguidos de cordero razonablemente sabroso, muy bien presentado. Lo más destacado para mí fue la deliciosa ensalada de maracuyá, aunque no estoy seguro de que el helado de chocolate con el que se sirvió fuera particularmente bueno. No convencido de que valiera la pena el precio de 40.

The 3 course menu at £40 is good value. There is a reasonable choice in each course and the dishes were accurately cooked and tastefully presented. The cheeses were all very good. The wine list was fair but vintage dates were noticeably absent in spite of some very expensive wines.

The food looked beautiful and it was beautiful. I never once needed the salt and pepper (unusual for me) and to be able to see the chefs at work in the kitchen from the restaurant was really interesting.The menu was extensive and even my fussy ex-farmer husband enjoyed everything he chose and felt really satisfied without the mountain of carbs and too-large portions that seem to be standard in too many eating places today. We ate there on two evening and each time were delighted with or choices. It was a truly exceptional experience.

They make a superb breakfast - just first class, hearty and delicious.The surprise was the dinner which was delicious.WE had lamb, fish and steak all of which were perfectly prepared.Nice wine listExcellent service.Great starters.We should have eaten here noth nights. A rare 5 star restaurant review from me - especially considering it was in the hotel.

We had a relaxing drink in the nicely appointed lounge and then had a three course dinner which was well cooked and presented. The food was delicious and the flavour combinations blended well together. The staff were attentive and very pleasant. Overall we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

We weren't staying at the hotel but decided to pop round there for dinner. It was absolutely delicious with impeccable service. For dessert I had Elderflower Canneloni which was wonderful. I loved the restaurant and would definitely stay at this hotel in future :-)

Avions réservé le dîner pour notre première nuit à l’hôtel. Comme la fois précédente, la cuisine fut délicieuse. Mention spéciale au lamb tellement fondant. Très bon service. Peut-être manque t il un peu d’originalité dans l’agencement de l’espace, plus adapté au petit déjeuner du matin qu’au dîner (un peu l’impression d’être dans un réfectoire). Sans cela l’expérience mériterait la note maximale.

The photograph does not do this room justice. It is very comfortable with lovely views over Ullswater. The menu is very interesting, with enough choice to work through over the week. Most dishes used local ingredients and were beautifully presented. The staff were really nice and helpful, particularly at breakfast in The Rampsbeck with the children’s Waffle making!

Food was good, but nothing special either. In comparison to other restaurants we have been to, we though it was a bit overpriced and the value for money not so good. Staff was very friendly.

The expectation was that the fine dining at the hotel would match the location and refinement of the hotel. Not so. A lot of sous-vide cooking and sadly, unseasoned dishes. A disappointment. The hotel's on brasserie is at least honest food.

I dined at the Rampsbeck Restaurant with relatives who were residents at Another Place. I took advantage of a Swim/Spa/Dine package which allowed me to sample the hotel's amenities without being resident.

My partner and I enjoyed a wonderful 3 course meal at the Rampsbeck during our stay at the hotel. We both really enjoyed the fish courses that had been cooked to perfection. The rhubarb desert was heavenly!

We ate here as part of a half-board arrangement. Breakfast was pretty sumptuous and very enjoyable. Dinner was excellent with some great choices.

We were staying at the Hotel so decided to eat here after travelling for six hours.. The staff are all incredibly friendly but the service is so very slow. They disappear for ages then reappear with nothing. We waited 45 minutes for our starters which were cold so no cooking involved. I had the chicken terrine which was very bland and my husband had the crab and watercress mousse which he also said didn't really taste of anything but the crab. My husband enjoyed the venison main course I not so the lamb. It tasted as if it had been sous-vide to within an inch of its life so had a really weird texture and it wasn't hot. The portion was very small. The cheesecake again was without any real flavour and and the fondant although liquid in the middle was very dry outside and I would suggest you lose the shards they are brittle and add nothing as they just taste of sugar. With a couple of drinks (mine was non alcoholic) the bill was nearly £90. I really didn't think it was worth it. I can see a lot of effort had gone into it but the result was completely lacking in taste and the 'wow' factor. It really was a case of style of substance. Now what did have the wow factor was the homemade bread and butter which we had at the beginning of the meal. They were the tastiest things we ate the whole evening and thank goodness we had them otherwise the wait for the starters would have been unbearable.

Friendly staff. Good music. Good vegi menu available on request. Nice fixtures and fittings. Would reccomend.

If we were to go again, we would choose to eat our evening meal in The Lounge (Another Place Hotel). My husband didnt feel like he'd eaten a full meal having just completed a three course meal. Sometimes it was hard to decipher what was actually in a dish from the information provided on the menu. Staff were willing to find out though if they themselves didnt know.

Why do some hotel restaurants just try too hard? Perhaps it’s because they generally have a captive audience of hotel guests? Well we weren’t staying at the hotel and had eaten locally at other restaurants earlier in the week. The Rampsbeck was disappointing in comparison. £40 per head 3 course meal has to be a good standard, but it wasn’t. Weird texture and flavour in the crab and grapefruit starter, sinew in the sirloin beef and hardly any panna cotta in the Panna Cotta dessert. Our wine glasses were removed from the table without asking first, no one asked us if we wanted more drinks throughout the meal and then we were ignored for 20 minutes once we had finished eating, despite telling the waitress that we didn’t want coffee when she cleared the desserts. At over £320 with drinks for 6 people - the experience should be much better! 1863 Bistro in Pooley Bridge is so much better, and cheaper too!

We went with friends for dinner to this recently refurbished hotel that from everything we read in advance we were really looking forward to what they have done. The hotel itself may be magnificent but we can only review bases on our dining experience. The dining room itself just lacks character and the lighting is totally inappropriate to the setting. I think the consultancy they used to design the dining room may not have considered what it looks like inn the evening. So to start there was no wow in fact the reverse. Unfortunately the dinner was nowhere near the quality that we expected and indeed the rabbit terrine was not too my taste at all, my mains of toast duck was ok but again nothing raising it to good ..the French fries that were requested came well after the course was served and looked and tasted suspiciously like frozen ones. However my dessert was very good an unusual pineapple creme brulee. The serving staff lacked any personality whatsoever..almost as if they had not been trained in delivering excellent customer service that I am sure the hotel is aiming for. We waited well over 10 minutes after clearing our dessert plates and as no coffee was offered I decided to just ask for the bill. I would however confirm that the staff were polite and not offensive but did nothing to engage us whatsoever as new guests. We were all disappointed as we thought this location would be one we would continue to frequent. Perhaps there was an explanation it is not a cheap restaurant but does not live up to standards we would have expected.

It's sad to say but we didn't enjoy this restaurant at all. The staff didn't smile and the food was only OK. We ordered what we thought was a normal meat steak but was actually a vegan steak but no-one told us. When it arrived we couldn't eat it. If someone had told us what it actually was we would have ordered a different meal - shows lack of interest in the guests. Simply not worth the money. The other restaurant is far better.

We booked a swim and dine package as we were not guests of the hotel and I saw this opportunity on the website. Paying £40 each we had access to the pool, hot tub and sauna from 6.30pm and then dinner in the Rampsbeck Restaurant afterwards. To note, the three-course dinner in the restaurant is normally £40 for three courses.

Party of 13 , adults and children. Couldn't be more accommodating. Wide range of meals taken from the menu so we know that all dishes on the menu were consistently well prepared. Patrick the chef is clearly hugely talented. Staff apologised for a short wait but it was nothing more than we would have expected with 13 people arriving and ordering at once. Did not feel we waited excessively. For only a few pounds more per dish , the quality and the ambience , surroundings and service were greatly superior than previous meals in local area.

The restaurant room is nice enough, but a bit lacking in atmosphere. Food was good, and fair value, but service was a little slow and the chairs were too low for the table, resulting in a quite uncomfortable dining position. The ubiquitous flies topped it off - I won't be rushing back until they have tried to sort that out.

Wonderful food in a lovely atmosphere overlooking Ullswater lake, what more can be said. We had two 3 course meal in this restaurant and both were outstanding. Delicious food served by very attentive friendly staff

We ate here whilst staying at the hotel, the food was very good and service was on the same level. Nothing more to say, would come back again

The food was delicious and reasonably priced, but the side orders for our main course arrived as we were finishing the meal! If we had been a smaller group or family, this may not have been the case.

We had a lovey meal here recently, with great food and a fantastic view of Ullswater. The set menu had great choice and the service was great.

The menu provides a limited choice, but enough if you are staying for a few nights. Portions are generous, so go easy on the bread and save room for pudding!

We stayed at the hotel for our anniversary and its a lovely location but we wanted a superb dinner to remember and did not get that.We had alternatives and I wish we had chosen them.The decor is a bit canteen like.

We had dinner in the restaurant and were really quite interested to be eating at a very new venue...it was under new ownership and recently fully refurbished.
