Rajput in Belfast

Last visit wasn't good. Food was tasteless. This time madras main course was too salty and lacking spice. Service was very slow. Won't be back

Loved the place. There was a live music, food and service was awesome. We were seven of us and they managed to accommodate all of all on a busy Saturday night. Deffo recommend this place!!

I have ordered from this restaurant countless times at this point. This is the best Indian restaurant in Northern Ireland. Top quality food whether eating in or taking away. Fast service. I have tried so many different dishes and all of them have been perfect. Menu very fairly priced for what you get. I would recommend this place to anyone to eat in or take away.

We went without booking on Friday night. My partner does not eat meat and I eat v little meat so it was great to see monkfish and sea bass on the menu as well as prawns and the usual vegetarian dishes. Service was friendly and helpful and the food was great - freshly made, tasty. We had the salted chill prawns to share as a starter - it's noit a big portion but we most often see this in Chinese restaurants so wanted to try it - great! the chutney on the side was hot and the prawns were full of flavour. As a main course we ordered Monkfish Achari, pilau rice and some side dishes of Tarka dal and saag paneer, all shared between us. The Achari was a great flavour and the fish was tender and very fresh. The star was tarka dal. We eat a lot of dal and are quite picky - it was garlicky, flavourful. a little bite left in it. Saag paneer was again fresh, tasty and the paneer had been fried before mixining. All in all, a great meal for a great price. It's unlicensed but there is an off licence across the street (we didn't know this when we went in and it's not particularly clear on the signage). It's the closest thing to a Curry Mile restaurant in Rusholme that we have experienced in Belfast and we will be back. The only thing missing for us is some aubergine or okra dishes.

I placed an online order with just eats at 9.40pm on Sunday evening. The delivery time was quoted as 10-20 pm After placing the order I realised that we had nothing to eat the meal with. I made a quick call to the restaurant to ask if they could supply some plastic knives and forks with the delivery. We sat in the hotel reception and at exactly 10.20 the delivery driver who was very cheerful arrived with our order and some cutlery. The food was piping hot and really tasty Fantastic service and high quality food. Thank you very much. We will defiantly use you again when we are in Belfast

Couldn’t hear anything and food took an hour. Let’s be honest- Rajput is generally decent for food however there are so many other options in East Belfast it needs to improve. We were a table of 7- we waited over an hour for food from ordering (which was good but I was half man half poppadom at this stage). The food was nice but not stand out that you’d wait an hour for. The restaurant was busy and the atmosphere was good already but they had a band- I’m a fan of live music but this meant you actually couldn’t hear anything at all. Anyway waiting over an hour for food and not being able to hear anything isn’t a great combination. Wouldn’t go back.

Wednesday night, Ordered takeaway for delivery online, followed up by calling the restaurant to be sure they had recieved my order phone was told to wait 30 minutes, one hour later called and was told it would be right with me 1 hour 30 told it would be right with me still no food. This is disgraceful service and I will never use this restaurant again.

We loved our night at the Rajput, our meals were tasty and well cooked, the sag aloo was the best I've had in a long time. The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful and having excellent live entertainment was a bonus we weren't expecting. Looking forward to my next visit 😊

Ordered our food at 4.45pm and after 2 hours still havent received! Called 4 timesand was told the driver is on his way...I live 5 min walk away! Disgusting to be so greedy and take orders from customers that you can not fulfill.Now they are telling us that they cant refund us even though we ordered the their website!!scam!!

Order at 18.37 foned at 19.40 to be told it was out for delivery along with 14 other deliveries received at 20.10 ended up straight in the bin stone cold waste o f£20 not the drivers fault if u r giving that many deliveries 2 take all at once

Had a lovely meal here recently. Food was so fresh, had mixed starter, monkfish and prawns. Service was very attentive and the atmosphere was great with live music. Can’t wait to go back.

Lovely authentic meal as they know but they r serving. Great serve as they explain u every thing. Specialised In sea bass and other tandoori items mix grill etc. Looking for came again.

Really delicious food, we had tandoori sea bass and monkfish dhansak, both really delicious. Nice decor, clean, and the lady serving us was so sweet and smiley. We took our own wine to accompany the food, all in all a lovely evening.

Ordered my meal on Uber eats at 4pm!! Way before the restaurant even opened. Requested it to be delivered at 6:45. Order showed as being prepared as normal. Got to 7:30 still no sign of delivery. Phoned Rajput, was told it was ready and waiting...

We have always been fans of the rajput, but our last two takeaways have been outstanding, whatever has changed the chicken tikka main meal is on another level of flavour absolutely delish!

We have been regular customers since restaurant opened. However, tonight is the last time. Ordered online at 18:10 for delivery at 19:00. The takeaway finally arrived at 20: 40 - 2 and a half hours after ordering. In the meantime I had phoned at 19:30...

I ate out here on Monday evening. I don’t know if they’ve put their prices up recently but I found it very expensive for what we got! 2 mains with rice and x2 Naan breads and four cokes came to £55. Food was very tasty...

Always have a good meal at Raj put. Food is really nice, good selection and good portion sizes. Staff always really friendly. Good for groups and it’s BYO with small corkage fee.

You can't beat the Rajput for amazing food and great service. Tell them the type of flavours/tastes you like and try their recommendations. I now have a new favourite meal, they won't steer you wrong. So glad takeaways are still available.

Standards have slipped badly over years. Waited over an hour for food order. Brought the wrong order. Food terrible when got home. Bedlam. Avoid

Out for some food and entertainment with some friends. This is one of regular go to restaurants. It never disappoints. Great food full of flavours. Good portion servings. Serve is friendly. Plus the entertainment is the added bonus. Where you get to singalong and dance. Great way to end the evening.It’s also bring your own!

Fabulous food and amazing service. My husband and I go regularly to this restaurant and we have never had a bad meal. Always fresh food that is really flavoured. The owner, Ahad, is very helpful when you are trying to select dishes. He will often alter the menu to make sure you get an enjoyable meal. Well worth a visit.

4 of us visited the Rajput a few months ago and each had a different meal. Waiting time was excessive and the meals were were not warm enough. The lamb was fatty. The dishes did not resemble those in all other Indians we have used over the past 30 years.We were overcharged - the bill being for 5 meals when we only had 4. We agreed that.never again would we eat here.However friends took us there last week. Again there was a long wait for cold food. The dishes again not tasting the same as offered by other restaurents. A masala dish being much too sweet - almost like a dessert. The lamb even fattier than before. This time definately never again.

Had not been before but now having been I went back and intend going again. The food and service was superb. Not been to many in belfast but the Rajput has been the best to date.

Been trying to explain to the Manager that the sauce is very watery he told me I was the only one to complain I've been eating madras and vindaloo for 25 years and this is garbage.Dont complain you'll get told off!!!@not happy:(

This used to be a great treat but it’ll be the last time I order. No taste at all. This happened before and I thought perhaps the chef was having a bad day - it happens! But tonight was just so disappointing. Next time I feel like an Indian meal I’ll go to Tesco’s and get one for half the price!

This is a great place to go on a weekend night with a group of friends. it's a BYO. The service is excellent and the food always great. Really recommend the naan breads.

I received a call with bad reception in the car. I was going to ring back when I got home when I received this text: “Very disrespectful. If you do not call back in the next half hour your table is cancelled.”

Mediocre food. Rude, rushed service. Also told no sharing main courses on Friday/ Saturday night (despite us having starters). We had far too much food that we didn’t want. Overpriced. With so many other good options locally I would choose somewhere else.

Firstly got a text to say if the whole party didn’t turn up they were going to charge me, secondly my friend who wasn’t keen on spice wanted to order chicken wings (starter) with a chip for main and we were refused. Told it wasn’t worth their while!! Wouldnt be making any money. We were told we all had to order mains, she couldn’t even order a starter before our mains unless we all ordered one. When challenged the manager was extremely rude and accused me of being confrontational. Needless to say no sides were ordered or tip left. Outrageous behaviour and service. Will never go back!

I recently had a very enjoyably night with friends at the Rajput. The staff were very good and the service was quick. when the food came it was well presented and tasted very fresh. I would definitely return.

We have been customers of the Rajput for a few years and it has always been good quality food. However our last meal was disappointing to say the least. We ordered a Chicken Tikka Korma and the first thing we noticed was that the sauce was extremely thin, almost the consistency of water. A good Korma should have a thick, creamy sauce with a very slight sweetness. This Korma was just like eating sugary water, almost as if someone had poured a cup of sugar into a sauce without any cream or other ingredients.

I went here at the weekend with a friend - we wanted to share a starter, main course, rice and naan (all served at the same time). I've done this every single time I've been to this restaurant with one other person - without a problem). This time after selecting what we wanted, the waiter abruptly told us that we could not share food and that we each had to order a main course. He said it "didn't pay them" to let people do what we were requesting - this was the 6.30pm sitting - the place was full - and he had told me on the phone earlier in the week that the later sitting was also full - so I can't see what doesn't pay them. My friend has a tiny appetite and is at times very unwell - in the end we struggled to manage two full mains / rice bread and there was food left over. It certainly didn't "pay" us to order two mains - we lost out on that one - but then it seems it's not about the customer. Nowhere on the menu or website do they say that you have to order a main course each - and legally they have to so hopefully someone will read this and pass that on to them, given that they don't appear to have an email address. You simply cannot introduce a new rule and not have it displayed in your restaurant or on a website - You need to make it very very clear to people at the outset. I have never encountered this before in the type of restaurant where sharing food is quite a common thing, so that everyone can try different dishes. In addition the staff are arrogant - they really do believe that they are the best in town - I have news for you - you are not! The young guy (Manager?) is one of the most arrogant, self-assured, patronising people I have ever encountered. The food is quite good - it is not by any means fabulous. It is over-priced (around £15 for most dishes excluding rice). Rajput was really quite good when it first opened but it has gone rapidly down hill both in standards and attitude. You certainly have lost a customer in me, and trust me, in time you will lose other customers too if you continue to treat them in this unacceptable manner. My advice to anyone reading this, try Cinnamon in Dundonald - much much better food / cheaper and genuinely nice staff! I'm not sure if the Rajput have ever heard of the saying "every dog has its day" - someone explain it to them please! Stiff competition is just around the corner. Goodbye Rajput!

The staff at the rajput are fantastic. Friendly and very helpful. Don't be afraid to ask them to amend something on the menu. They are more than happy to make a meal hotter or milder to suit your taste.

Went with my wife for a celebratory meal. Service was great and food was excellent. Would highly recommend.

Here tonight for a girls night out. Food wonderful and service excellent. I had tandoori chicken on the bone (special tonight) and it was delicious just the right amount of spice and charcoal would highly recommend it. Service was excellent staff very attentive and welcoming.

We ate here on Saturday night. We are fans of Indian food and as a result will not be back here. It was very busy and is clearly popular with regulars who are greeted well on arrival. We ordered the mixed starter which consisted of a samosa, bhaji, tandoori chicken and multiple onions - very poor. We followed this up with 4 expensive mains, Chicken Tikka Balti, Rogan Josh, Lamb Monposond and Vegetable Curry. All tasted exactly the same and were unbelievably sweet. They may have BYO but they make up for it with overpriced mains. Service was ok but the night was spoiled by the quality of the food and a really noisy crowd who were clearly regulars so therefore could not be told to tone it down. Next time I want Indian I will go elsewhere.

a group of 4 friends from Scotland came here, we were headed somewhere else and taxi driver suggested this place instead. Did not disappoint. First of all its BYOB! Bonus. And the food was unreal. I personally had the madrad. Boiled rice garlic nan and chips. Honestly can say its best ive had. Didnt blow the mouth off me i enjoyed the flavours and the service was great staff were so friendly and accomodating. They also told us saturdays have live music and im dying to come back already. Huge fans here from a very fussy Scottish eater!!!

Dined at Rajput with close friends, always receive a warm welcome, food was outstanding as usual,and entertainment by Sammy was excellent. Of course thanked for coming on exit, Best Indian restaurant in Belfast in my opinion.

A fab ‘bring your own’ Indian restaurant in the popular and busy bar and restaurant scene of Ballyhackamore, in East Belfast. Great food, fab service and on a Saturday night great live music. A must go to night out with a group of friends for a night out that won’t break the bank! Love it!

Esta no fue nuestra primera opción, pero estaba cerca del Mandarin cuya cocina principal se cerró inesperadamente. No estaba muy ocupado, pero un poco desorganizado el miércoles por la noche. Había muchas mesas pero tuvimos que insistir en comer lejos de un rincón sucio. La comida era buena y abundante, pero las cosas de BYO fueron algo decepcionantes, no solo porque los refrescos eran aburridos.

La esposa y yo fuimos la noche del sábado pasado con cuatro amigos. Tuvimos una excelente comida servida por un personal muy atento y amable que no pudo hacer más por ti. La comida era deliciosa y bien presentada. El ambiente era fantástico y luego comenzó el entretenimiento musical y todo se sintió como una gran fiesta con muchos clientes bailando en el medio del piso. Todos se unieron al canto con una gran mezcla de los 60 's, 70' s arrojados. Vale la pena una visita,

Had the special lamb. Absolutely delicious! Main courses £15 without the rice etc. Over price made up for by the fact you bring your own booze. Nice relaxed atmosphere.

Lots of choice on the menu, including things that other Indians in Belfast don't always have. Service was quick, even though it was busy. Food was delicious - we just ordered too much! The portions were huge. Prices are quite high, but I think worth it.

We went with a group of friends to the Rajput on a Saturday night, the table was prebooked so they could accommodate around 29 of us. We got in to our seats 20 minutes later than booked but there was one place not set up, so the rest of our group had to squeeze in to accommodate one more person. Okay bumpy start.

Really disappointed tonight after just coming back from a meal with my Mother, especially after I'd read so many good reviews and because of the area. Got seated with my Mum fine, place not even half full, and the guy who seemed to be a manager started telling us what the special was - fish. It's an Indian so we wanted curry unsurprisingly and I said "That sounds great but we already know what we want thanks". The guy literally said, "So glad I wasted my time telling you then" and smirked before just walking off. When he came back he asked for our drink order and told us that they weren't licensed so we couldn't have any alcohol; we didn't know so this was a bit annoying but fair enough. My Mum was told she could 'pop across the road if she wanted to buy something'. Ordered our food grand, took a good while to come but thats fair enough if it was cooked fresh but I was given the wrong order. Guy reached across me about 30 seconds later and just went "thats not yours" - my mum already had her meal. Okay... whatever, no big deal.

£10 charge if someone doesn't show, no matter what medical conditions they have. Disgusted by lack of understanding and compassion showed by staff. Would never give them my business again. They also overcharge.

Este restaurante lo tiene todo. Tuvimos una fantástica selección de pescado, cordero, pollo y un plato vegetariano entre el 10 de nosotros. Arroz y pan coronó la comida con todo el mundo pasando por platos alrededor de la mesa para que todo el mundo sabía todo. Fantástico. Como he dicho antes, no hay alcohol. No es un gran problema. Sólo interferir de todos fantásticos sabores de todos modos. Puede traer su propio si.

Rajput got our order wrong I had the temerity to complain. I was told (and I quote) “we are the busiest and best Indian restaurant in Belfast and we don’t need your business, look around we are busy and we don’t need you”

Ordered a takeaway from here at the weekend was extremely disappointed. Starters of Indian tapas were decent but that was about the height of it. We ordered to very different curries but they were indistinguishable from each other and utterly tasteless. Not a molecule of salt to be found in either. They reminded me of a particularly bad frozen Asda curry or something. Order cost nearly £30 so couldn't help but feel ripped off. Dreadful.

Went to the raj later than I would normally and had no idea it had entertainment. I have always known the food is amazing but now that I know about this entertainment it will have to be a regular thing. Bring your own booze which is even better. What more could you ask for. Well done guys this is awesome.

La primera vez después de oír muchos comentarios entusiasmados. No me decepcionó. Trae tu propio, auténtico menú con especialidades en platos de comidas calientes que hicieron el paladar de explotar. Servicio impecable, gerente de un verdadero caballero y incluso un enérgico cantante spice aún más con una zona de turno de baile para aquellos que sienten la necesidad.

Been a while since I have had an Indian meal. Mainly because I am not all the adventurous when it comes to spicy food. I had a chance to try the Rajput with friends on a Friday night. It’s one of a number of new restaurants that seem to be springing up around the Ballyhackamore area making it a hot spot for the young and trendy. There was certainly no shortage of patrons in the restaurant when we arrived. We were seated quickly and offered drinks. It’s not licensed which may put some off but a quick nip across the road to the off license shouldn’t inconvenience most people. Usual popadoms etc. Ordered chicken tikka korma with some nice rice and some peshwari nan. Chicken was delicious. Nice big chunks in traditional korma sauce. This was hoovered up in style with nothing left I can assure you. Various other main courses just as delicious. Definitely worth a visit and hope it will not be as long before my next Indian meal.

We had a nightmare evening at the Rajput.Firstly we were told that they couldn’t find our reservation and they made us wait for 20 minutes for a table. The noise in this crowded restaurant was terrible. There was a din all evening from an extremely loud clientele. A kids party at McDonalds would be quieter. Then the food arrived and it was underspiced and bland. I could make a far tastier curry myself with a jar of Pataks. After that live music came on at the front of the restaurant to add to the cacophony. We couldn’t get out of the place quick enough.Survival of the noisiest in there. Also the poor quality food was overpriced and the restaurant is unlicensed so you have to bring your own. The waiting staff weren’t particularly nice either. We will not be back.

Visited the restaurant last Saturday with friends. The staff were very friendly and explained the menu in detail. We ended up having some specials all of which were delucious

We had been here before with friends and had a good enough evening. ..food not bad but have had better Indian food. ..my gripe this time was not with the food but the fact that they played the national anthem at the end of the evening. . Who does that? ....we were a mixed company and didn't think it appropriate in this day and age that the night end in this way. ....maybe the owners don't realise how inappropriate and unacceptable this is in a very mixed area. ...definitely no need! !!!!

What a warm welcome we had the staff are so nice friendly and professional. The restaurant is so warm great atmosphere.

Been a while since we have had a babysitter and 3 healthy kids so decided to visit a favourite and it didn't disappoint. It was busy with larger parties but my husband and I weren't over looked. Alow ensured our wine glasses were topped up and food was to our liking throughout the night.

I would recommend Rajput to everyone, the food is beautiful, it is BYO and the staff are very friendly.

Had a take away last night fantastic service and great food. I don't usually eat Indian but their chilli garlic chicken and naan I'd to die for. Looking forward to dinning in the resturant.

Sat 25th of November we had booked to go to this restaurant that we love and have eaten in on quite a few occassions. Due to unforeseen circumstance we where forced to cancel have to admit it was last minute but didn't expect the reaction and the rudeness we received on the other end of the phone then to make matters worse the phone was hung up. Staff in this restaurant need to take a look at themselves, they have actually no idea what goes on in other peoples lives , appalling customer service.

Food was very low quality, Korma was watery and barely any chicken.Wrong Naan bread delivered which ruined the meal. This used to be our favourite place to order from for Indian but will unlikely be returning. Had stomach ache all night after eating.

Totally yummy and customer service was excellent! We went here for our anniversary and it could not have been better. Staff were lovely and food was delicious.

Went for dinner on a Tuesday night for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. Nice welcome, making it clear early on that it's BYO and the off licence is across ss the road. Decor is clean and modern, if slightly dark. The waiters were slick and explained the specials and what we did order arrived in good time. It's fair to see we did not return much and everyone was happy. Price was mid range for this sort of food.
