Rajdhani Spice in Scottish Borders

Very thoughtful, accommodating and polite, catering for a party member with coeliac disease. They were also happy to adapt menu to cater for a young child's food preferences. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. We would definitely stop again.

Booked a table for 3 at this restaurant for 18.30 on Saturday 16th December as a celebration for my wife’s birthday. When we arrived we were shown to a table which hadn’t even been set. We were given takeaway menus and a short time later offered poppadoms. I had to ask for drinks. It was some considerable time later when our order was taken and we did not get served with starters for an hour. My wife’s cousin had to ask for another glass of wine as we were not offered any other drinks. The main course finally arrived at 20.30 by which time my wife was unable to eat much of her meal and asked for it to be packed up so she could take it home. Throughout the time we were at the restaurant there was a continuous flow of takeaways from the kitchen to customers . Obviously takeaways are more important to sit in customers at this restaurant. Will never go there again.

We visited this curry house, and had great food, good service and decent portion sizes and at a reasonable price. £15 for a decent bottle of Merlot. Previous comments are misleading .. Al's Top Tips. This is the only curry house in the area and have great Gluten Free options. Lamb Buna and Lamb Madras with Special rice and garlic naan were all good.

This meal was the by far the best curry we've had in a while. We were on holiday in the area, never been to Coldstream before. Clean and comfortable surroundings. Staff were beyond lovely and helpful. I can't remember the last time I was surprised by a curry, they can all become a little samey but I was delighted with what we had. I spoke with the cheff to try get some pointers for making a curry at home and he was so very helpful and you could see he was bursting with pride that his food was enjoyed so much. Loved seeing his passion for his profession. We will return ...might not be for a few months as from Sheffield but we will definitely go back!!

Recommend by the host of our Airbnb, we decided to give it a try and were not disappointed. Very friendly staff, food was freshly cooked and delicious. We opted for a takeaway and waited approximately 35 minutes for it to cook, the smell along was unreal! Chicken kormer was very tasty,very creamy. Would recommend trying it. Good size portions too, not very expensive for the amount we got.

Easy ordering by phone and food was ready to collect at time stated. Very polite service and restaurant interior looked very smart ! Food was excellent, portion sizes great and very tasty! Well packaged and obviously freshly prepared as it was red hot! I liked the addition of fresh coriander and chopped chilli to garnish the dishes; lovely fresh salad with starters too! Staying locally in the area and the menu was in our accommodation. Ordered a takeaway and the food was excellent and really good value for money in the current climate. 2 starters 2 curries 2 rice and 2 naans for £36, I actually had to check it was the correct order as at my local takeaway that would have been at least £50. I have had Takeaway and restaurant meals from here ever since it opened years ago, and Every Time the food has been consistently amazing. There are very few Restaurants in the Country that are Consistently this good.

We visited for dinner. It was a bitterly cold night and we kept our jackets on as the heating was very poor despite being next to a radiator which was luke warm so try not to visit in the Winter. While the staff were friendly the priority is the vibrant take away custom at the expense of the diners. We enjoyed the food when it arrived if at least to have something to warm us up.

I miss the quality and variety of the curry houses where I lived in Brighton and London and went hunting for a good one locally for my birthday meal and came across this one. The service was good and attentive, although, to be fair, it wasn't very busy on a Monday, and the variety of dishes on the menu, including the chef's specials, gave plenty of choice.

Lovely friendly welcome and very tasty food. We popped in here on a bank holiday weekend and they always find you a table. Nothing is too much bother for them and the food is always consistent and very tasty.

We decided to get a takeaway family meal from Rajdhani spice tonight to celebrate our sons 21st this coming week. Back to the Rajdhani Spice for the last night of our holiday with family. Everyone found something tasty on the menu (including one member of the party with a gluten allergy that the restaurant was able to advise on and accommodate). Staff are very friendly, the food was excellent - well cooked, well spiced and delicious - and the prices were very reasonable. Recommended!

We dropped in to order a carry out, ordered and asked how long it would take( 3 main courses, 2 rice and a nan bread) we were told 40 mins, we then went and ordered from the local Chinese and arranged for it to be ready at the same time. upon returning (already having Chinese in hand) we paid for our order and waited, after 15 mins (55 mins after initial order) we enquired on the progress of our order to be told five more minutes, eventually after a total of 1hr and twenty minutes after initial order we got our food and no apology for their tardiness.

The food we had was too sweet. I understand some currys have a sweet taste to them, sometimes due to coconut milk and other things but the Kashmiri I had tasted like a pudding and I couldnt finish it. I felt like I was eating mashed banana with potato in it. The others had butter chicken and masala, all of which were poor. Would not recommend. Also they charged us £3.50 for poppaoms which the waiter acted as though they were on the house and was pushy for us to order more.

As a local foodie, good Indian restaurants are hard to find outside of Edinburgh, but this is an exception. As an eat in and take away establishment, it takes some beating. The food is consistently good, the owners and staff are all friendly and helpful, and the choice of dishes is varied enough to satisfy all tastes, without being overwhelming. Excellent value, and a very pleasant atmosphere to dine in. Take away option is our monthly treat, and never fails to hit the mark. Highly recommended

After a busy day in Northumberland we fancied a curry. What a find! The food was lovely, the service was great - only downside being they didn't have rasmalai for desert, though they said if I came back on Friday they would fetch some from Newcastle!

Outside and indeed inside, the appearance of this restaurant is pretty unattractive. However the welcome and friendliness of the staff together with the competent cooking more than make up for this.

We read the reviews and decided to try this on our last night on holiday, we was not disappointed the waiter was really friendly he gave our 6 year old a cold plate for his meal to ensure he didn’t burn himself and even gave him a free soft drink to go with his meal, the meal was one of the tastiest we’ve had, when the meal was finished the waiter made sure our sons warm towel wasn’t too hot for him to use would definitely recommend

I ordered a takeout by telephone. When I went to pick up my order I was told I couldn't come in with my guide dog. "There are two customers in the restaurant eating" I was asked if I wanted pay at the entrance on the doorstep. I said no and that it was against the law to refuse access and showed them the information guide dogs Scotland had given me outlining this. Learn the law!

Visited here back in June when staying in Coldstream. As you'll have noticed, choice is limited in the village but we decided to give the curry house a go.

Got a "medium spiced" curry - the most bland curry i've ever tasted. I've had ready meals that were better than this. Drinks were also flat. Over priced for the standard of currys. Decor is also dated. Staff were friendly. First visit - we won't be back for a second.

In Coldstream for three days on business with colleagues who seldom eat Indian food. I live in London close to very good Indian restaurants, but neither my colleagues nor I were disappointed. This is good Indian food by any standards, and at these prices the value for money is excellent too.

I am partial to a good Indian and i've lived in Mumbai so i've eaten a lot of curries, and i can honestly say the dishes from Rajdhani Spice are up there amongst the best. Light and crispy onion bhaji, succulent chicken chaat. Wonderfully fresh spiced Rajdhani 21 chicken - a house spice blend. Freshy cooked crunchy popadoms, yummy mix of chutney and raita, light and tasty peshwari naan. And it was all served piping hot, with a smile and some tourist advice. Couldn t ask for more Thank you!!
